AN: Good morning everyone and happy Thursday. I am very sorry for not updating sooner but life gets in the way. Same with writer's block. It comes at the worst times. I hope to update more in the future, all of my stories in fact. But now that it's summer I will be traveling to my family's cabin more which means no internet. Now on a little side note I wanted to let you all know that I have started a new story, it's the Hunger Games from Peeta's perspective so please check it out when you can. So today is August 11, 2016 and this is the first chapter today. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's and anything you don't is mine.
Oliver POV
I couldn't pay attention at all during the meeting. My eyes kept flicking over to Umbridge. There was no way it could be the same Umbridge who had taught Hermione but Merlin she looked like she could be an older sister or cousin. What was the woman doing here? Was she the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? Well there weren't any other openings so she had to be the D.A. Teacher. Was she like the other Umbridge? Was she an evil social climbing bitch? Or did she just happen to be born into the wrong family?
I flicked my eyes back over to her and was horrified to see her watching me. She blinked slowly, a pink flush crossing her cheeks and she quickly turned back to Dumbledore who was talking about the Forbidden Forest and how they would be putting up new charms and shields to keep the students safe.
"Why now, Albus?" Filius squeaked from his spot at the end of the table.
"Because of the Acromantula and other creatures in there." Dumbledore said awkwardly straightening his beard.
"Was someone attacked?" Minerva asked from beside me, her arms crossed tightly across her chest her lips pursed in a thin line.
"No but I took a trip into the forest and it is quite clear that it is not safe for anyone to be in there. The Acromantula tried to attack me, the centaurs were less than pleasant and there are baby wolves in the forest."
"What kind of wolves?" Umbridge asked leaning forward, her face extremely pale.
"Werewolf cubs. Born from a wolf and werewolf." There was a horrified silence and disgust coursed through me. Remus. Bloody hell what did he do?
"I believe it was Fenrir Greyback who did it." Pomona gasped sharply and Silvanus's eyes all but bugged out of his head.
Horace blinked quickly and shook his head. "How is it possible Greyback got onto the grounds?"
"I have an idea...and that's what scares me."
Hermione POV
I walked into the Great Hall beside Lily who was chattering about the history of Hogwarts. Even though I knew everything she was telling me I was paying close attention. It was fascinating to hear her tell me everything about the portraits and teachers. It helped me know the seventies version of Hogwarts compared to what it looked like in my time.
"So, Kitten," Sirius said slipping his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close to his body. "Is the future Mrs. Potter boring you with all the details about this purgatory they call school?"
I blinked owlishly thinking quickly. How would Lavender Brown act? She was the only true airhead I had ever known. The girl had almost no tact but what would she say? I blinked again before whispering loudly, "It's boring." and I punctuated it with blowing a bubble with my gum. Sirius's lips twitched with amusement while Lily huffed in annoyance.
"Ah, love, don't worry about it." James said coming up from behind Sirius and wrapped his arm around Lily's waist. "Not everyone loves Hogwarts: A History like you do." Lily glared at James but didn't pull away when James kissed her cheek.
I frowned and looked down at the floor. Lily and I had so much in common it wasn't fair. In any other situation we would have been best friends. I ran a hand through my hair and I swallowed thickly.
"Her-Hermione are you okay?" I looked up startled at the trembling voice. Peter Pettigrew was standing next to me, his watery blue eyes locked into mine. His body trembled and I frowned looking him over. Every instinct inside of me told me to kill him, snap his throat with my bare hands, torture him with the Cruciatus curse, take thumb screws and push them into his skin. I shook my head and quickly pushed those thoughts away and chanted to myself, he's not a Death Eater yet, he's not a Death Eater yet, He's not a Death Eater yet.
"I'm fine, Peter, just missing my friends." I said blowing a curl out of my eyes. It wasn't exactly a lie, it was a truth, I was missing my friends terribly. It would have been brilliant to find a new one and I knew that if things were different... it didn't matter. Things weren't different and weren't going to change... ever. My only friend was Oliver and I barely knew the man. I would have to accept it and bare with it.
"Whoa, who's the hottie that just walked in?" A familiar shrill voice said from behind me. My head snapped around and the growl was out before I could stop it. Pansy Parkinson.
"He's taken." I snapped darkly. The girl turned to look at me. She had the same hard pug-like face as her daughter. Her eyes quickly moved over me, turned her nose up and all but stomped away.
"Okay, now that was hot." I blushed brightly and turned to the voice next to me. Oliver was standing next to me holding a simple but elegant gold engagement ring.
"You forgot this, this morning." he said slipping the ring onto my finger. My eyes were wide with shock and he pressed a kiss to my cheek before quickly striding to the head table.
AN: Please Review! It helps so much more than you realize. Reviews help me create a story that everyone loves. And the only way to make sure I know you all like it is with reviews telling me what you think, what you love and hate about it. Also any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated and I would give you credit if I used your idea in the Author's Note. Seriously guys every little bit helps.
