Skin, the protection that covers the human body.

So tough yet, so fragile. It protects a human's organs, bones and systems from harmful bacteria and sun's UV rays. It comes in different colors: tan, white, red, light brown, black and blue. But despite being a good defense against viruses and whatnot, the skin can be easily sliced if the right amount of pressure was applied. Like..this!

Pain, an emotion felt when the skin is injured.

A light grunt to a sudden scream, it is easy to tell when one is in pain. But then again, many have mastered the art of hiding their pain, of concealing the darkness in their eyes and the marks on their arms. Flashing a smile so fake it looks real to throw others off guard. But the thing about physical pain is that it heals in time. But not so for emotional pain. No, time never heals those. That is a wound that will bleed forever.

Blood, the life of a human.

Red as ruby when fresh to garnet when dried. The blood is what keeps us alive. It is precious. No blood, no life. But sometimes, you can have blood, and still feel dead. Especially, when the same blood that flows in your own veins is pouring out of the body of the one other person in the world who loved you.

Blade, the metal part of a knife or sword.

Beautiful, curved, polished to a mirror shine, sometimes decorated with engravings or details, there are many types of blades. Some are small and blunt as a butter knife. Others are large and sharp as a kitchen knife. Finally, there are the long and light blades of the swords, light and deadly, sharp enough to behead a man if swung at the right velocity. But there is a blade just as deadly but not as obvious, the dagger. Small enough to conceal and deadly in close combat. And entirely unforgettable when it was the object that drank the blood of your dearest and beloved friend.

Tears, the body's way to signify either immense joy or crushing sorrow.

You laugh til you cry. Dust gets in your eyes and your vision waters. You stand before the piece of granite that tells you that she is gone. Yes, you stare at the large, black slab of stone that mocks you, asking why you were so weak, why didn't you do anything? She would be alive if it weren't for you. It's all your fault. If only you had been faster, if only you hadn't run off like that, if only, if only.

Water, an important element to the functionality of life.

Calm, serene, gentle, soothing, peaceful, tranquil, mesmerizing. The water always soothed you, eased your pain, the gentle waves telling you it would be alright. It witnesses your happiest times and bears your darkest fears. Even now, as a faithful friend, it washes away the red stain on your wrist and cleanses the mark left behind. It washes away your tears and cleans your face of any remnants of the sorrow that gnaws everyday at your heart. Finally, it cleans the blade, disposing of any evidence that would raise suspicion and with a final whisper, tells you all will be well.

Grief, the emotional reaction to loss.

It strikes when you least expect it. So easy to hide, so hard to be rid of. Your closest friends become strangers, you feel alone in a crowded room. You laugh, smile, and chat. You play pranks and compete with your friends for Best Dancer or Singer. But your heart is not in it. At day's end, you lay on your bed, your heart heavier than it had been that morning. Getting up, you reach for the blade, and start the cycle over again while her picture smiles at your back, the words from the stone etched into the back of the frame.

A/N Well, here it is. My rewrite to Mata Nui, meet Primus. I have taken Jazzilynn Hall's suggestion and have completely rewritten the main plot. But, for my readers who have followed my original story, I have not abandoned those chapters. You will definitely see them as the story proceeds.

Also, this rewrite will serve as a prequel to Biomarvel740's Bioformers universe which I have the joy of being co-writer of. If you haven't read his first two books, Fireman and Bioformers, please go and check them out. They are amazing! :D

The last two italicized lines are part of the lyrics for Aisling's Song from The Book of Kells. It'll show up a few times as the story continues.
