Welcome readers new and old. The final crossover between Legend of Korra and Young Justice, is finally here for your enjoyment. As always; I ask you to support my original novel, "Battle for the Stars" by either purchasing it or asking your library to purchase the book. On with the show!

A female bison traveled across the South Sea, heading for Kyoshi Island. On board the animal sat a number of people. Two of them were politicians, along with one philosopher and three engineers. A small group of Air Nomad kid volunteers were talking excitedly among themselves. Lastly sitting on the head of the bison, Hotaru, was Kya, driving, and Kilchi, trying to relax. The Spirit's Champion appeared utterly exhausted, his clothes a bit fray with circles under his eyes. "Thanks for inviting me along Kya. After working sixth months on implementing the plans for the Spirit Wilds and settling disputes for both spirits and humans, I need a vacation."

"I understand and I promise to let you relax after we conclude our initial meeting with my cousin Governor Piandao, I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to relax," Kya assured him. There was a twinkle in her eyes, almost like she couldn't wait to reach her aunt's homeland. Besides Air Temple Island and the South Pole, Kyoshi Island was the only other place she could call home.

Kilchii settled himself against Hotaru's horn as recalled what he knew about Bumi had told him about their aunt and uncle's bloodline. Sokka and Suki had married two years before Aang and Katara, but had waited to start having a family until they were more stable. Unlike his brother in law, Sokka had not been pressured into having kids as fast as possible because he wasn't the Avatar.

About three years after Bumi was born, Piandao came into the world. He looked almost exactly like his daddy, but his hair shade was more like his mother's. Later they had a daughter Yue, who came into the world eight months after Kya. From Bumi's stories he knew that the four of them had been very close and had a lot of fun. Piandao and Yue had tried to include Tenzin into the group, but Tenzin would usually brush them off, saying he was more mature and grown up than them. That was the point all four would gang up on him and force him to play with them.

About a year after Yakon's attack in the courtroom, Sokka had retired from his position on the council and moved the family to the South Pole where he inherited his chief position from his father, Hakoda. He had been planning to retire from being chief and spent his retirement years on Kyoshi Island with Suki, but was killed before that happened. Six months later Suki had died and their grown up children returned to their mother's homeland to make lives for themselves. Eventually they had married and now had kids of their own. Kilchii thought it was a shame that Tenzin's kids hadn't met their second cousins, but hopefully they would once the reunification process was complete.

After another two hours they finally arrived at Kyoshi Island. Waiting on the beach to meet them was Piandao, his wife Junko, (earthbender), a few other village leaders and Yue, who was smiling happily. Next to her was her husband, Hideaki, (a nonbender). He was a rugged man with sharp features, who was nearly bald with one visible green eye, the other being covered by a patch. The group waited calmly as everyone got of the bison and slowly approached the governor and the rest of the village leaders.

Kya bowed first to her cousin. Piandao looked very regal in his blue and green governor's uniform. He stood half a head taller than Kya, his brown hair with silver streaks was kept up in a traditional Water Tribe style hairdo. As always; his sword was strapped to his back in case of danger. "Greetings to you all. I have to admit I had my doubts about allowing the Unification Group onto my island. Still, my cousin can be very persuasive. For now the Kyoshi Island Leaders are willing to hear you out about this new government you propose."

"Thank you Governor Piandao. If it's alright with you, can our relief crew begin assisting you with any problems you may have?" she said gesturing to the children and engineers she had brought. All of them appeared eager to help. Up in the saddle were much needed supplies. A silent conversation from the council and Piandao nodded.

"Junka?" he said as he twisted his head to see his wife. She was a beautiful woman. Her gray eyes held a warmth to them, matching the rest of her tiny facial features. She kept her black hair loose and wore simple light green dress with a beaded belt. Unlike most earthbenders, she wore simple sandals.

"You don't have to ask. Children, please follow me so you may deliver the supplies." She curled her finger beckoning one of the village leaders over. She told the engineers to follow him because his village had been hit the most by the chaos. Shortly after she left, Yue and Hideaki were told to take the philosopher to talk with the Kyoshi Warriors to determine if a slight change in their philosophy would be acceptable and help in some way to get Kyoshi to rejoin the Earth Kingdom.

The rest of the group went to the meeting hall where a small feast had been prepared for them. Kya and Kilchii were welcomed to join in as the politician started to propose a new system of government that would benefit both Kyoshi Island and the Kingdom as a whole.

"Before any of you begin speaking, let me remind you of something. Kyoshi Island has always taken care of itself. Here, we're safe from outside problems and any danger from the mainland is swiftly dealt with by our Kyoshi Warriors. The fall of the Earth Queen didn't affect our lives, so why should even listen to you about unifying again when our island was barely unified under the monarchy?" One of the village leaders asked. Several others voiced similar opinions stating they wanted to keep their independence that Avatar Kyoshi had given them years ago. A few of them started asking, why they hadn't already turned them away.

Governor Piandao held up his hand urging everyone to be quiet. He reminded them that Kyoshi created their island to keep them safe from invaders initially. He also said the Kyoshi Warriors had brought the island closer to its mainland countrymen through their service. If they hoped to emulate Avatar Kyoshi's ideals, they needed to first listen before making up their minds. When he finished, he told the Unification Group that they could speak.

The first ambassador, from the United Republic, chose to respond to the earlier questions. He patiently pointed out that the chaos from the mainland had already reached the island according to their scouting reports. Several villages from the coastline, especially from Chin Village had been conducting raids against the island. The destruction to the villages and loss of resources put a strain on the villages. Even with their Kyoshi Warriors; several fishermen and traders has been attacked, crippling their ability to live independently. That made the leaders all bristle. You could see the visible change in Piandao's facial expression. Both of his heritages wanted to stand fast and protect the family, the island. At the same time he had to think of the future of the island.

"Governor, cousin Piandao, please open your mind for bit. None of us here, including me, want to force you to do or agree to anything that you believe is wrong. The other world leaders don't want to dictate your country's future. Our goal is to assist in restoring balance so the different states stop warring among themselves. How can we be the Five Nations if our friends in the Earth Kingdom are hurting greatly?"

The villagers seemed pacified with these words. Kya's word carried a great deal of respect, being the niece of the greatest Kyoshi Warrior, Suki, and so far the group had respected them. Encouraged, the second political ambassador, a member of the Water Tribe; started to explain what they were offering.

The Unification Group had met with different Earth Kingdom representatives, talking about a new type of government that would best represent their interests, while still having some entity, help make the final solutions. After much discussion and some input from Kilchii, the representatives had agreed upon creating a parliamentary republic. This government would have the people to elect a governor for their state, and the governors would form a unicameral house. They would work with the Prime Minster, head of the government, who was accountable to the legislation. Working together they would handle any problems. After a five year term, the Prime Minster would nominate individuals to be the next Prime Minister, who after approval from the parliament, would take up the job.

The idea held many merits, including more power to the people and making sure the government leader was held accountable. Also the first Prime Mister, former Prince Wu, symbolically represent the monarchy stepping down as the new form of government took over. Also, when the Spirit's Champion spoke about justice being served and reason being restored, it would mean the return of the spirits, who were greatly missed by the inhabitants. The leaders agreed to think about it and give them an answer by the end of the week.

Later that night, Kya and Kilchii joined the extended family for dinner. Kya and Yue insisted he come, saying he was already part of the family. After changing into casual clothes, he sat down surprisingly at a table the Yue's family used when they had so many guests over. As dinner was being placed on the table four children, two boys, and two girls entered the house getting loving hugs from their parents and Kya.

Junko noticed Kilchii's confused expression. "Forgive my poor manners. I assumed Kya told you a bit more about our children. This," she said placing her right hand on a tall teenage boy, with a mixed skin tone, brown hair and gray eyes. "Is my sixteen year old son Nikiti, whose training in the ways of the sword. And this," putting her left hand on a pre-teen girl pale skin, blue eyes, and short black hair, "is my eleven year old warrior and water bender in training daughter Lien." Both kids said hi and welcomed him with big hugs.

Hideaki introduced his offspring, who looked much like his father, save his mother's nose Yukio, a twelve and half year old nonbender who wanted to grow up and be a fisherman. His daughter Kyoshi, had blue eyes, with light brown hair and was eight years old. She was also in training to be a warrior and like her cousin, was a bender, though of earth. The two sibling started asking him for stories as they ate their food. It was fun being part of this family. Looking down at his bracelet he sighed. I wonder how Korra's doing these days. She hasn't talked to me in a few weeks. Hope she's okay.

His concerns about Korra got pushed to the back of his mind during the rest of the week. He trained with the kids, or joined them in some games during the afternoons. His mornings were busy talking with different village leaders and settling major disputes between the slowly returning spirits. At the end of the week Kyoshi Island agreed to join the Earth Parliament Kingdom and assist with the rest of the unification process. It was a real victory as Kyoshi was the seventh providence to join in. If the unification process continued on a positive note, the Earth Kingdom could be reunited in about two and half years!

In another reality; a small group of three slowly made their way through a dank, dark, dripping hallway. Each of them was on alert watching for any signs of danger. The one in the lead held out a hand to stop them. They listened as an echo bounced off the walls. After a moment, the trio made their way further down the hallway, each of them getting ready to attack. They came to a huge metal door that was locked. A second member of the group, a girl, moved her hands calling the water to her before chanting something. The water glisten as it struck the lock breaking it. The last member of the trio, another male, used all his strength to pull the door open.

An intense light caused them to shield their eyes. They felt a strange sensation as if something was pulling them through an air tunnel. When they opened their eyes again they found themselves in a giant desert with huge mounds of sand all around them. Unimaginable creatures floated around the trio, who wondered if they were floating mirages.

"Where are we? How could a door lead us here?" the female asked. She wiped her forehead, her skin quickly drying out. Already the intense heat was making her sway. The second male grabbed her lowering her closer to the ground as he started succumb to the elements. The leader was pressing his ear com. "Come in command. We need a location check. Respond, please." There was no response.

The ground started to tremble as huge fin appeared out of the sand. It circled the group, going faster and faster. Each of the trio tried to summon their weapons or spells, however the desert had drained them. The sand shark burst through the sand underneath their feet swallowing the group whole!

"Simulation failed. Results: entire squad killed." Everything vanished as the simulation was replaced by the training room. The Antlantien trio; Aqualad, Tempest, and Aquagirl picked themselves up off the floor. Tempest locked eyes on the person running the simulation. "What's the big deal throwing us into the desert in the middle of stealth exercise? You could have killed us, heck you did!"

"Garth, please don't take your anger out on me. I was told to run the scenario and monitor it. I didn't know someone had changed the code to create a new scenario with in one," Mal defended himself. He brought up the scenario, reviewing the code. After a minute he knew who wrote the program, but not the person who had ordered it. He had a good feeling about who ordered it.

Tula placed a hand on Garth's shoulder and gave him a small hug. "My love, we shouldn't fight amongst our friends. The simulation may have evolved, but it was helpful."

Garth gave her a look that conveyed his feelings about that statement. "Tula, we all know that missions can go wrong and that it's necessary to prepare for anything that could go wrong will. So why place us in the one environment that can kill us?"

"To help us build up a tolerance. I've been in deserts before and drained. It's important that we learn to conserve our need for water and adapt to the situation. We can't depend on a rescue every time," Kaldur informed his friend, in reality he was trying to cover for a friend. Let them think the new scenario was a test.

Grumbling about it, Tula and Garth headed to the showers. Once they were out of an ear shot, Kaldur walked over and took a look at the holo computer reading the code. "That's Karen's coding isn't it?" Mal nodded as he slumped over. Karen would never think of tampering with a simulation. Unless it was to cheer someone up. "I thought so. Computer, what's the location of Korra?"

The computer, which had been updated to recognize real names at times responded cheerfully; "Korra is located at the pool. She is currently sitting on the edge." Kaldur nodded. Taking a deep breath he called M'gann and Artemis to join him at the pool.

At the pool, Korra sat in her wheelchair and stared hard at the water. It was mocking her, just sitting there waiting to be bent or swum in. Trying to curl her hands sent a jolt of pain down her right side. "Ahhhhhhhh! Why is this happening to me? The doctor has to be wrong he just has to be."

Flashback: Three and half months ago.

Korra sat propped up in her bed, still feeling weak after being in the CAT scan. She had just finished her additional chelation drug treatment, after it was discovered by an MRI, some of the mercury had formed small pockets of mercury still stuck in parts of her abdomen. Finally, they had gotten all the poison out.

For the last few weeks they have been running tests checking her for signs of side effects or damage to her organs. Senna had watched and observed the doctors and nurses actions. When they returned home she wanted to be able to help her daughter with any medical problems.

The door opened revealing Dr. Dave Schellihech, Korra's neurologist. Most people just called him Dr. Dave because it was so hard to pronounce his last name. The older gentleman smiled at the little family. Korra was anxious to hear if she was finally cleared to leave the hospital. She wanted to get back home so badly and resume her duties.

Senna, knew her daughter's desires. As a healer though, she knew that Dr. Dave's visit wasn't going to end well. "Hello Doctor Dave. Have the final test results come in?"

He nodded as his expression changed as he looked at Korra. The eighteen year old pretending to be twenty one, shifted in the bed. She winced as a jolt of pain went up her right side making the doctor looking guiltier. "Mrs. and Ms. Tribe, I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"

"The good please," Senna said quickly. She wanted to spare Korra a few more minutes of the bad news. Both members of the Southern Tribe braced themselves.

Dr. Dave looked up from his charts and spoke in a calm voice. "You'll be happy to know that Korra is one hundred percent poison free. We got confirmation that there are no more deposits lingering in her body." He paused making sure they had processed that before continuing. "You must have a strong constitution young lady. There is no organ damage, your levels are back to normal, and you're not anemic. That's very good news."

"What's the bad part? Is it something that can be cured fast?" Korra asked.

"I'm sorry to say this, especially to a young person with her life ahead of her. Korra, you've developed minor ABI and nerve damage. We can't be sure what caused it, the meds or the poison, even something else. What we do know is the testing revealed parts of your brain that are linked to physical and perceptual sensations have been altered permanently."

Korra went into shock upon hearing that. She couldn't believe in a world with such advances there were things that couldn't be fixed. How could she be damaged inside so badly? She was half listening as the doctor explained that physical part of the damage meant her muscles were weakened and would get fatigued more easily. Her right side nerves had become very sensitive to sensations around her. For an example a simple breeze would make her feel as if she was caught in a twister.

"So what can we do to help improve my daughter's situation? At the moment she doesn't even have the strength to get up and walk."

"That's very common with this type of injury. She's going to need lifelong physical therapy to help her gain more strength in her muscles so she can relearn to walk or use her limbs. For the nerve pain, we can prescribe pain killers. Studies have shown that acupuncture and meditation help patients learn to live with the pain, even make it go down. Because of her youth and strong will I have high hopes that Korra will eventually regain as much as seventy five, perhaps, eighty percent function."

"But never a hundred percent," Korra whispered. "Nothing can ever get me back to one hundred percent?" Dr. Dave shook his head as he walked over trying to be encouraging. Yes, it would be a long recovery and she'd have to learn to accept the changes to her body. Yes it would be painful and hard. If she pushed too hard to fast she could exasperate the problem. If she pushed to slow she would go back to start. He was confident that she could get her life back if she tried.

Flashback end.

Ever since that day, Korra had not been herself. She had spent another two weeks in the hospital as they helped her regain enough strength to leave. After being discharged from the hospital she came to live at the Wayne Manor. Dick and Jason were glad to have her over and Alfred became good friends with Senna. He had assured her that Master Bruce didn't mind paying for Korra's recovery. It was a debt being paid back for all the help Korra had given to them. Besides, it wouldn't be right to send them home when the Avatar wasn't strong enough to help out.

It had been two, almost three, months since Korra started her recovery and it wasn't going well. Some days she would push too hard and others too slow so no real progress had been made. She still couldn't walk or do much by herself. She seemed to have forgotten the promise she had made to the past Avatars, saying she would take the time needed to get back to normal. "Normal, hah, I'll never be normal again." She started to cry hard. She was sobbing so hard she didn't hear her friends come in until they were all around her hugging her. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Why do you think we're here silly? We want to help you get better," M'gann told her gently. Korra turned her head away. "You can't help me M'gann. Not unless Martians have developed a way to fix brain and nerve damage for humans."

Artemis grabbed the wheelchair, turning it so the young Avatar was looking at her. "What's wrong with your attitude? The Korra I know would never give up no matter how hard it is. You've survived worse things than this. Do you know how lucky you are compared to others? My mother will never walk again, but you can if you try."

Korra jerked free. "None of you truly understand what I'm going through. How this effects not only me, but the whole world and possibly future Avatars! I can't live with the thought I can't get back to my old self, the person the world needs me to be."

Kaldur shifted her chair again. "You're right. No one can understand what you are going through. Help us understand then we can help you. You have always helped us out in the past. Let us help you now. Friends never give up on one another no matter what." His words seemed to reach her in some way. For the first time Korra felt a bit of hope. With her friends by her side nothing couldn't be accomplished.

The next day was Korra's regular physical therapy appointment. It was three hours long and she had it three times a week in the morning from nine am to noon. Alfred would drive her and her mother there. Most times Senna would stay, but other times she would go with Alfred to do the chores. He was also teaching her how to drive, seeing how early cars weren't that different from Satomobiles.

Korra sat in her wheelchair as her team of therapists went over again what kind of treatments she would be receiving and the daily goals. Her nutritionist was reviewing her diet and told her she needed to start eating more fruits and vegetables to give her body enough energy to combat the fatigue. Afterwards the nurse checked her vitals while doing the tests on her muscle strength and pain factor.

After that her therapist started massaging her legs and arms. "Have you made any progress in your attempts to walk?" Her therapist Henry asked. He kept massaging her body waiting for Korra to reply.

"Not really. When I try to stand up, I immediately have to sit back down because I don't have the strength. It's the same with my arms and hands. I just feel weak all over, despite the progress we have made."

"Well that's what happens when you don't do this right. You've been pushing and slacking throughout our treatments together. You need to find a balance. What about the pain in your right side? Still intense?" Korra nodded. "Okay we can work on that. Are you practicing at home?"

"Not as much as I should. My friends promised to help me with my recovery. My mom's got printouts of the treatment methods I'm supposed to be doing and they can help me with. I'm also going to see a mental therapist." Henry nodded saying that it was important to have a support group. He reminded her to take brakes and not push herself harder than she could. After finishing massaging her they got to work trying to build up her strength so she could walk again.

The next afternoon in the Cave, all her friends and Red Tornado, were there to greet her in the main room. Senna handed out the print outs. "You can't know how much this means to me. I know you're very busy with your own training or missions. I thank you for taking some time to help my daughter."

"It's really no trouble Mrs. Tribe. We all want to help our friend. Besides, Korra needs to get home and help out with the Earth Kingdom situation right?" Artemis stated. Senna bit her lip and nodded. As much as she missed her home and husband, she had to think of her daughter first. If they went back home too soon, would Korra suffer a relapse that she couldn't get out of?

First up, was Kaldur and Mal who decided to help with massages and hydrotherapy. Mal, who had taken a course at the community college, started massaging her body again, this time adding a bit of extra pressure on her right arm. Korra yelped in pain wanting him to stop.

"You know that I'm doing this to help you. If we can reduce some of the pain in your limbs then the nerves will slowly adjust so they won't be as sensitive to sensations," Mal told her gently. "Massaging has a lot of benefits for your muscles and circulation." After twenty minutes he was down. He offered to help Korra to the whirlpool.

"I want to try myself ughh. Actually could you help me?" Mal picked her up bridal style before placing her gently into the water. Nearly a second later the water started to glow. "No, stop! No bending, remember? It takes up to much energy. Baby steps girl baby steps."

"But healing will help me get better faster. My mom does it, so why can't I?"

"Your mother isn't injured my friend. Her healing sessions are helpful, but it is up to you to do a majority of the work. Now relax, I'm going to heat up the water and create a small current. Mal, be ready to steady her if she starts to fall." Kaldur used his powers to slowly heat up the water and then create a small, but strong, current. Korra did nearly slip off the bench only to be steadied.

I can really feel the water helping me. I feel a bit better. I'm going to try to move my right foot. Focus and keep trying she thought. Her eyes locked on to her foot, she kept trying to move it. After several tries she managed to move her big toe. "Oh, I was hoping to move my whole foot, but one toes is better than yesterday right?" Her friends nodded.

Over the next few weeks her friends did what they could to help her. Dick and Artemis helped her with her regular exercise and Connor and M'gann would do other strength training, plus helping her practice what she had learned. Wally made sure she was eating right, which was fun sight to see.

Virgil and Jason help out with either the hot and cold treatment. Sometime Virgil would give her tiny shocks that seem to calm down her nerve sensitivity. Bettie and Karen decided to help by talking Korra into getting her GED. They argued the more brain stimulation, the easier it would be to send signal to the rest of her body, including her muscles. While this was going on Zantana and Raquel would visit to keep her spirits up.

The most unusual help came from Roy, Jade and their baby Lian. They would visit the Cave or meet her after her normal physical therapy and zeta back to their place. Inside their place, they would help Korra adjust to her new body and practice new ways to do everyday things. A lot of that came in the form of helping babysit her "niece", (because Roy insisted it was only a matter of time until Kilchii popped the question), and she slowly found new ways to do things.

Korra and her mother were waiting in Black Canary's therapeutic office for their first family session. It was now nine months since the Avatar and her mother had come to this world. A minor victory had been achieved last week. Korra had finally gained enough strength to hold herself up and walk short distances by herself! She didn't completely understand why a family session was needed so she decided to ask. "Do you think this session is about my progress and that we can return home soon?" Korra asked nervously.

"I don't know my dear. I hope that this session with all of us, will help with some difficult decisions to come. I wonder what is taking him so long." Senna pondered out loud. Korra looked at her puzzled, unsure who her mother meant. The office door opened, revealing Black Canary and entering behind her was Korra's father Tonraq!

"DAD! What are you doing here?" Not waiting for a reply, she shot to her feet and tried to run over to him, only to stumble halfway there and he got before she hit the floor.

"Easy Korra, I heard you only started to walk a week ago. I don't think you're able to run yet," Tonraq told his daughter as he led her back to the couch. Once she was seated, he turned to his wife hugging and kissing her as the held on to one another. Whispering softly to one another, they broke apart as he sat next to his family. "I want to thank you for inviting me to today's session. I'm sorry to have to speed up this session, but there are issues that need my attention back home in the Southern Water Tribe."

Black Canary said she understood and hoped she wouldn't be taking up to much time. Getting right down to business, she stated this session was about Korra's progress and any underlying feelings she might have. It was also a chance to decide the right time for Korra to return to her Avatar duties.

Upon hearing that Korra got upset. "The right time? We can't wait much longer, the world needs me. There's too much to be done. The crises with the Earth Kingdom has to be resolved. Kilchii needs my help with the dealings between humans and spirits. Also if there's any threat out there, I need to be ready to leave at a moment's notice!" Slamming her right hand down, she repressed a scream as pain shot through her arm. She tried to ignore it only for it to intensify.

Senna summoned the water from the fountain as BC fished out the pain medication bottle from her desk. Tonraq watched his daughter closely as his wife started healing the arm before moving to her side. BC counted out the right amount of pills asking when was the last time Korra took it. After getting a response, she handed the girl two pills and a glass of juice to help wash it down. Once that was done and the pain had passed the family relaxed again.

"How often does this happen?"

"Up to four or more times of the day. She's made some progress in adjusting to the pain, but still hasn't found a method to help lower the pain level."

"It's no big deal, I've made a lot of progress in a short time. I need to go home!"

Black Canary leaned back in her chair before lacing her hands together. She spoke gently towards Korra. "Korra, why do insist in returning home right now. You've made some progress yes, but it would be irresponsible to let you go home before you recovered enough to handle your duties. You need to take more time to recover."

"You can't force me to stay! I'm only a reserve member remember? Plus I can activate my bracelet at any time to go home. Whatever treatments I need, I'll find a substitute back home. I don't need yours or anyone else's help now."

"KORRA AVATAR TRIBE! I've never heard you speak so disrespectfully to anyone. These people went out of their way to save your life and are trying to help you because they care, not only about you role to the world, but yourself as well," her mother scolded her sharply. Her eyes narrowed, as she placed her hands on her hips showing her displeasure.

Tonraq was surprised by Korra's behavior. They had had conversations with the use of the bracelets. He had been aware of the depression and sadness, but hadn't seen her anger combined with rudeness disrespect. These mood swings were troubling. "Korra, I'm very displeased by your actions. Your lack of maturity in this situation has me questioning your ability to continue recovery at home."

Korra kept insisting that her duty was to the world. Yes, she knew that she wasn't recovered enough yet. She couldn't even bend at the moment. Her own health and needs were second to her presences being need to help with the Unification Group. She brought up her cousin Eska, challenging her father to tell her that the bored girl was not busy leading her tribe and helping efforts.

Tonraq reply surprised her. After the first few initial meetings Eska had temporarily stepped down as Chieftess. Her mother, Pipaluk* was acting Regent at the moment. Eska had been fitted with prostheses for her leg and right arm months ago and was still learning to use them. It was taking her a bit longer to use her jaw to eat or talk with it fused, and learn sign language, to communicate better because she couldn't always read lips.

Black Canary then turned the conversation back to Korra asking her again why she was rushing her recovery when even her injured cousin was taking time out. She couldn't come up with an answer other than she just wanted to be back in action. Knowing there was more to it then that, BC gently pushed her only for the now nineteen year old to keep quiet. Just like she had been doing for most of their sessions.

For the rest of the session the family tried to work out some of the problems. While Senna didn't want to be separated from her husband again, both of them agreed that Kora needed to stay here longer in order to make more progress. Korra admitted unhappily, that she had a few things she needed to work on before she could return, but refuse to divulge what those issues were. After a bit more negotiating it was decided that Korra would return between her one year anniversary or either six months after that. In the meantime arrangements would be made to continue Korra's recovery back home. Korra was sad to see her father return home without her.

Back in the Avatar World, a few days had passed and Kilchii was hard at work. He was just finishing talking with Tonraq on the radio. It was breaking his heart a little that Korra wasn't taking his calls. He wanted to support and help his girlfriend, but didn't know how when she kept shutting him out. Tonraq told him that when Black Canary had been escorting him to the sessions, she admitted that she was concerned that Korra was keeping people at a distance because she couldn't let anyone see her weak and helpless.

If that's the truth, than I really need to talk with her. No one should be going through something like this all alone. Kilchii, sighed as he exited the radio station and started climbing down to the ladder to the main village. With all the critters and mud around, it was easier to keep the equipment dry and get a signal if the radio station was high in a tree. Getting back on the solid ground he saw Hoa walking over. Next to her was Governor Piandao and a trio of Kyoshi Warriors. He had a slightly displeased look on his face. The Kyoshi Warriors kept their guard up for any signs of danger. They didn't appeared to fearful of the swamp, but ready to strike out if another force attacked.

"Governor Piandao, I'm surprised to see you here. I didn't realize you had a scheduled meeting with the leaders of the Unification Group. If you'll give me a few minutes to clean up and I'll take you to them."

"Why should we trust you? Just because you're the Spirit's Champion, how do we know you won't attack us like they did," One of the girls snapped. She whipped out her fan and pressed it to his neck so quickly he didn't have a chance to react.

Governor Piandao did a hand signal ordering the girl to stand down. "I'm not here to talk with leaders for the reasons you may think. Kyoshi Island is on the verge of pulling out of the Unification Group," Piandao stated. His words shocked Kilchii. Kyoshi was a very important win during this process. Having one of the most independent state agreeing to join had been a huge help in getting others to join. If they pulled out now, they might never complete this process.

"Why would you do that? If you're having disputes still, Varuna and I, can assist with finding justice and reason. Maybe if you're having issues with…"

Piandao interrupted him. "The residents are fine and the spirits haven't return yet. We've been very appreciated of all the help you've been sending our way. It's your security force we've been having troubles with," Piandao grounded out. "They've been stepping way over the line and actually tried to arrest some of our Warriors when they tried to defend innocent traders from being harassed by a few of the Metalbenders. Specifically the troops from Commander Kuvira regiment."

"He's not the only one having trouble with our security force," Hoa explained. She was rubbing herself trying not to get to upset. The Swamp seemed to be reacting to her feelings as the trees started shake violently. Seeing what was happening, the spiritualist calmed down. Keeping herself balanced, she pulled out reports from the scouts her farther had received the other day. There were a lot of them.

"All the members that we've gathered are on the verge of pulling out because of Kuvira and her troops. They've been stepping way out of bounds and aren't following their orders from the Group's leaders. They are all following Kuvira's orders instead." She held out a few reports for him to look at. "The governor leaders said that the troops are withholding supplies, gathering up and forcing bandits to either join or send them to camps. Kuvira's even tried to claim herself as the leader of a state saying she knew better how to run one then the leader. Much of the harassment has been recorded on video, being sent by couriers to here."

Kilchii frowned, this was the first time he had read actual proof to his suspicions about Kuvira. Team Avatar owed her a debt for helping them out with the Red Lotus earlier in the year. Only a week after Korra was rushed to the YJ world, the former captain and several troops had managed to bring order to the capital, although there had been punishments for excessive force. Still, their victory got them elected as the security force for the Unification Group.

She's really been changing since then. Something is wrong with her and I just can't figure it out. Kilchii recalled some of the recent activity going on. There had been an increase in production of weapons, mechas, and troop movements. Some of the uniforms had been altered for certain types of soldiers. Something was going on with Kuvira and it needed to be dealt with now. "Governor Piandao, I'm sorry about this. Hoa take him to see the Unification Leader so they can hear his account. Varuna and I need to find Su."

About two hours later Kuvira was called to a meeting with the. Kuvira strolled in a calm manner. Looking at the table she noticed all the leaders frowning at her. Straightening up she analyzed each of their faces and the possibility of having to defend herself against them. In a confident and caring voice she said, "I received your urgent summons. Do you have a new mission for my troops and I?"

"Commander Kuvira, we summoned you, not for a mission. This hearing is about your conduct as well as your regiments these past few months," Bao informed her. The Spiritualist sensed the split second change within Kuvira. Parts of it were shoved back or hidden as a different energy took charge.

Su stood up trying to collect herself. Taking a deep breath, she spoke to young lady, someone who she had raised as a second daughter. "Commander Kuvira, there are startling allegations against you and your troops. Not only from governors, but civilians as well. We find many of these allegations to be of a serious nature." General Iroh, was filling in for his mother today, read the charges against her. His eyes had a glint to them, unlike his ancestors, this glint was more from righteous anger than a bid for power. Once he was finished he sat down. Not once during the reading had she flinched or her expression changed.

"Commander Kuvira; I've been reading your spotless record and reviewing your actions during the Red Lotus incident and the Ba Sing Sei crises. According to my colleagues you have a wonderful reputation," Bumi said, acting in for Tenzin today. "What disturbs me is that since this Unification Group began, you've stopped listening to orders. You ignore what you're told to do; protecting the members of this group and the heads of state, while offering aid and protection to the joined states to prevent warfare from breaking out again. Instead, you have been twisting your orders and stepping over your boundaries. I'm greatly troubled that you would state you represent the future of the Earth Kingdom, while using force to cower others in complying. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

"The Earth Kingdom, shouldn't have to rely on outside help. We have always stood strong and never given up. Your idea is progressive, but you putting faith in the wrong people for too long. The royalty has never had the Kingdom's people best interests at heart. The Avatar has abandon us, no matter if she's recovering, she should still make her presence felt." She looked at Kilchii, a small part of her twitched as she continued speaking. "The Spirit's Champion is supposed to bring justice and reason to those in conflict. Clearly looking at you, that's not the case. Are you incapable of carrying out your duties by yourself?"

Kilchii said nothing, though his mark started to glow intensely. Kuvira wasn't finished. "I'm attempting to prepare our country from future disasters and rid the kingdom of those who would see us fall back to a system that doesn't work I'm looking at the big picture and following the path towards the future. In my vision nothing like this will ever happen again. If my troops are overzealous and a bit aggressive, it's because they too believe in a vision of a better future. I'm sorry that some of the leaders' feelings were hurt. We are trying to protect themselves from making mistakes. I stand by my actions."

The room was quiet for a few minutes as they processed what she said. Each of them was going over her declaration analyzing it. The talked among each other for a while, Kilchii/Varuna giving their opinion on the subject. Finally the broke to watch Su carry out her duties.

"While I applaud your dedication, these allegations can't be ignored. Your own conduct here today demonstrates that you're currently incapable of separating yourself from your vision and that of the people you swore to protect. For now, you're record will hold a reprimand."

"Your punishment is as followed. You'll step down as leader of the security force and be on parole for the next six months. At all times someone will be monitoring you as you carry out grunt duties If you've shown us that you are capable of performing your duties without stepping out line or forcing your vision onto others, you will regain your status. Until then, you're dismissed," Su told her. Kuvira had a face of calm, but Su knew too well that a storm was brewing underneath her skin. She would need to keep an eyes on her for now.

Time past and soon it was one week to the date Korra had manage to defeat Zaheer before coming here to get better. Since that fateful family session, Korra worked twice as hard to get better faster. Her friends had been pleased with her work effort. She had gotten to the point that she was almost thirty five percent recovery. She could manage doing small independent acts such as cooking a small meal by herself. Korra also didn't get as fatigued as fast, lasting almost half an hour now if she didn't try to do something strenuous very fast. Her pain levels in her right side went from a hundred percent to about eighty.

Korra was also pleased with reaching small personal goals. While she couldn't do active missions, she had enjoyed helping to create simulations for training and giving advice to the team. Her favorite personal goal she had reached was earning her GED, making her one of the first Avatar's with a full education achievement. Yet, there were some concerning issues to be worked on.

Black Canary sat behind her desk looking at Korra. On the desk was folder with notes in it. A casual glance at Korra told her she was very anxious and on the urge of an emotional breakdown if she didn't have good news.

"Korra, do you understand why you're here today?"

Korra nodded. "I'm here to get a final evaluation before I go home. That is, if you've decided I've made enough progress."

BC nodded, looking at the papers in her file. Closing it she asked a basic question. "Do you think you're well enough to go back home? I understand that you intend to get involved with the Unification Group as soon as possible."

"Yes, my father told me that there was some tension going on with the group. He believes that my reappearance and assistance in the Earth Kingdom, could be a great asset in unifying the states. I have to be strong enough to perform my duties."

"That doesn't fully answer my question. You keep talking about the world's needs, sometimes your family or friends, but you never speak of your own needs. Didn't you make a promise to do what was best for you and not the world during this time?"

Korra turned her head to the side. She was getting a bit uncomfortable. "My needs have been met. I'm not a back to the level I was, but that was before I realized how bad the situation was."

"Which situation are you talking about? The Earth Kingdom or yourself? This past year has been difficult for you. Being given a slightly devastating diagnosis of never being one hundred percent again, must have affected you in some way. The doctors warned you might suffer relapses at times. Right now you can't even bend."

"What's your point? Sure, I'm angry about that, but I've dealt with it. My progress shows that I'm not letting my condition get to me. I've been talking about my feelings with you for months now."

"Not really. You've never really opened up about your true feelings and fears. I'm worried that your mood swings will get worse if you don't really let yourself feel what this new reality means to you. You've been very guarded around people, even your friends and parents. Why is that?"

Korra said nothing. Just looked at Black Canary with a begging expression. She just wanted to go home and perform her duties. The Leaguer was at a crossroad. Clearly, Korra wasn't stable mentally; perhaps even physically and spiritually. At the same time the situation in her world had become delicate and the Avatar was needed. Against her better judgment, she had no choice but to give Korra what she wanted. Still, there was one way to make sure that her patient still got the treatment she needed.

"We're going home! I can't believe it!" Korra was cheering as she started packing her stuff up later that night. "I can hardly wait to return home! I miss Dad, Tenzin and the kids, my friends. It will be great to see them again in person. I hope they didn't mind the lack of communication from me."

"I noticed you didn't mention Kilchii. I thought you be overjoyed to see him again," Senna remarked. Korra flinched for second. "Sweetie, do you break up? I thought you two were soul mates."

Korra resumed packing, not looking her mother in the eye. Her hand went unconsciously to her necklace, rubbing the water droplet pendent. She didn't feel any warmth from it. "I didn't break up with Kilchii. I just think he'll be busy with his own duties is all. I'm sure that when we see each other again everything will be fine! I have a lot to do Mom. Can I be alone?"

Senna left her daughter's room unhappily. Korra wasn't ready at all for this. The only reasons BC had cleared her was because of pressure from Tonraq and the fact that Korra would have run back home if she didn't do it. Still, at least her husband and the heroine had come to an agreement.

One week later, Korra had said her goodbyes to the team, promising to contact them. She wished them luck in finding out why The Light was so invested in getting attention from aliens. With a confident grin, her mother and she took the portal back to their world. There they were greeted by her father. She was so happy to be home and with her family, she was completely blindsided by the conditions that had been set for her.

Her father wanted her to spend only four months in the Earth Kingdom and only act as a representative of the Unification Group. She would encourage states to join, maybe get involved with small issues, but no big problems and very little bending. He also insisted that she be accompanied by someone who could assist her recovery and treatment process.

The next four months would be spent at the Southern Compound, helping her relearn to bend. He hoped it was help her recover more in a contained environment. The last four months would be split, two months with Tenzin and two back in the YJ world for evaluations, checkups, and just connecting with them again seeing as how her friends had been a great support group.

Korra of course protested this. Before she could argue her case Tonraq said it was either this or spend the next few years locked up down here again until he thought she was better. With reluctance the nineteen year old agreed knowing the next few years would be a challenge for her.

Thank you for reading this chapter. I have done a lot of research to explain Korra's real life results after being poisoned; this also follows through with her recover treatment and her psychological issues. I also looked up basic information about how to handle Kuvira at this time. I hope you all appreciate my efforts to be authentic.

The asterisk from before was that I discovered Unalaq's wife name was Malina on the wikia. This information wasn't available when I wrote the third story, which is the reason she still maintains her made up name. I hope that doesn't offend any die-hard fans.
