Author's Note: I'm quite surprised that I'm the first author to come up with the idea of a Scooby-Doo and Murdoch Mysteries crossover

For those of you that don't know Murdoch Mysteries, it's a Canadian historical mystery television series, taking place at the turn-of-the century Toronto in the late-Victorian era. In the US, it is known as "The Artful Detective". The series follows the adventures of a Toronto police detective solving murders or other mysteries.

For those of you that don't know Scooby-Doo, it's an American animated mystery series that has been around since 1969. The franchise mainly follows the adventures of a group of four teenagers and their talking Great Dane, known as Mystery Inc., solving mysteries, most of them supernatural mysteries involving a legend and a crook that is using that legend to cover up something illegal.

Once again, this story takes place in Dimension Six, in which the Mystery Inc. gang is placed at the late-Victorian era, with all human members of the gang turning 17 by the year 1899. Also, this story takes place during the time of Season Five of Murdoch Mysteries.

I don't own Scooby-Doo or Murdoch Mysteries.

Chapter 1: Wrapping up a case and a ghost sighting

July 5, 1899

Location: Coolsville, Ohio, United States

Note: The case that is being wrapped up here is the mystery from the first Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode What A Night for a Knight!

"And the phantom is: Joey Powers!" Velma declared as she yanked off the mask of a phantom caught in a net. "Just as we suspected!"

"But how?" One of the arresting police officers asked as the Mystery Inc. gang unmasked the phantom.

"Simple." Fred explained. "Powers took advantage of the legend of the Ghost Knight to cover up his art smuggling racket."

"So Powers, who works at the History Museum, sets up a secret workshop behind a mummy case." Daphne started.

"During the night, when the museum is closed, he will take some of the paintings in display into his secret workshop and produce forged duplicates to take their place." Velma added.

"That way, he could then smuggle his stolen art into the Dominion of Canada for a profit." Fred concluded.

"Like, but then he had a problem." Shaggy continued, smoking his pipe. "The museum curator got suspicious of what he was up to."

"In the meantime, a ghostly-looking suit of armour was being delivered to the museum." Daphne said.

"That suit of armour was supposed to come alive during the nighttime, according to legend, so Powers took advantage of the legend and used it to kidnap Mr. Hyde White." Fred added.

"With that legend as a cover," Shaggy concluded, "Powers was able to explain Mr. Hyde White's mysterious disappearance and, like, carry on with his art duplication and smuggling racket. He also used the legend to scare off any suspicious people."

"Yes, and I would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you blasted meddlers and that dumb dog, too!" Powers piped up angrily.

"Well, Mr. Powers, it looks like you're going to be locked up for a while for this." One of the patrolmen said as they took the handcuffed Powers onto the police wagon.

After the police wagon left and Mr. Hyde White gave the gang his thanks, Fred declared, "Well gang, looks like we've got another mystery solved!"

"Rat ralls for relebration!" (That calls for celebration!) Scooby piped up excitingly.

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Dominion of Canada

Meanwhile at Toronto's Station House Number Four, Detective William Murdoch was going through some files in his office when Constable George Crabtree entered his office after a knock.

"Sir, there has been a body found in the Art Museum."

"Okay, George. Get the bikes ready." Murdoch replied as he fetched his hat and prepared to leave.

Soon, in the Art Museum, Murdoch crossed himself as he approached the body. Dr. Emily Grace was already at the scene examining the body, while two men from the city's morgue were standing by, waiting to collect the body.

"What have you, Dr. Grace?" Murdoch asked.

"It would appear that the man had a fractured skull. Given that he was lying on the ground when he was found, it is most likely that he had a fall from the balcony above." Dr. Grace observed.

Murdoch nodded. "Anything else, Doctor?"

"The fractured skull should be the wound that killed him, given that there were no other wounds on the body."

"Alright. You may take the body, Doctor." Murdoch replied.

At this moment, the museum's curator arrived at the scene and when he saw the body, he exclaimed, "My Lord! Albert!"

"Sir, Detective Murdoch, Toronto Constabulary." Murdoch turned to the man and showed his badge. "And you are?"

"Douglas Armstrong. I'm the curator of this museum. This dead man here is Albert Wikens, our museum's arts director."

"Oh." Murdoch replied, raising an eyebrow. "How long have you know Mr. Wikens?"

"He's been the museum's arts director since the museum opened ten years ago. We've know each other since that time."

"I see. Does Mr. Wikens have any enemies? Perhaps someone who wishes him harm?"

Mr. Armstrong thought for a while before saying, "Albert was friendly to everyone he interacts with. There's no way someone will want to harm him."

Murdoch nodded. He asked a few more questions before dismissing Mr. Armstrong.

At this moment, George, accompanied by a man, came to him and said, "Sir, I've just got a witness who might've saw something out of the ordinary last night."

"Yes." The man beginned. "I was returning home from a late-night party last night and went by the museum, detective."

"Oh." Murdoch replied. "What was the occasion for a late-night party?"

"We were down at the pub a block away having a bachelor's party, and there were a couple of drinks."

"I see." Murdoch nodded. "So what happened?"

"Well, the party ended at around 2 in the morning. So I went back to my apartment down at Queens St., and I had walked by the museum. During that time, I happened to take a glance inside the museum and saw something glowing blue inside. I blinked, and when I looked back, the figure has vanished. I thought it was probably my own imagination, as I was across the street from the museum. So I returned and didn't think much about what I had saw in the early morning until I heard about the mysterious death in the museum."

"Alright." Murdoch replied. "Is there anything else?"

"Well, to tell you the truth, detective, a few seconds after I walked by the museum, I thought I had heard a scream, but at that time, a coach had went by and I thought the noise was coming from the horses, so I didn't think much of it."

"I see." Murdoch nodded. He then asked the man a few more questions before thanking him and moved on.

Just then, Mr. Armstrong ran towards Murdoch and said, "Detective, I've got a piece of art missing!" He was pointing to the nearby piece of painting.

Murdoch took a look at the painting. It was a painting he had seen before while taking a brief trip to the museum the day before.

Taking a closer look, Murdoch thought he noticed something out of the ordinary in the painting.

"Why, this painting is forged!"

The curator nodded. "This has been happening in the past few days. I've only noticed it this morning, when there were some paintings missing and others that look fake hanging in their places."

Murdoch and Crabtree looked. There were plenty of rectangular areas on the wall where the paint is lighter in colour than the other parts of the wall. Murdoch had no doubt that the missing paintings were hung at those areas.

Turning to Crabtree, Murdoch said, "George, looks like we've got an art forging ring operating here in Toronto."

Wonder what happens next? How will Mystery Inc. end up in Toronto? Stay tuned to find out!
