Disclaimer: I do not own Balem or the Jupiter Ascending universe (though I wouldn't mind owning Balem =D) but I do own Amoya.

It's been a long while since I've been login and uploaded here. I have not written fan fiction in years. But I have not been inspired as much as I have by the movie Jupiter Ascending. In fact I have not been this excited by a movie than I have in years either. As much as I have enjoyed many of the movies I've seen lately, nothing was as new and original as this movie. (I may get shot for this but I didn't enjoy the Hobbit as much as I did this movie. I LOVE the hobbit don't get me wrong but it's falls under "it's an adaptation of" and it's par to the course of what to expect.)

As per my usual custom, this story is finish, so no one has to worry about me not completing this story. It's going to take me some time to edit and upload. Originally this was going to be a series of one-shots but this ended up working out like a coherent story. Because I approached it as a series of oneshots I don't know how many chapters this story it. I know it's long since in word it's 120pgs and counting.

Story Idea: The idea for this story, that originally were a series of oneshots were centered on this question: What if Balem found himself fascinated with an Earthling woman and like a child decides that he has to have her? And thus, this was born.

Timeline: In the beginning of this story, when there were oneshots and nothing more I would have said, I have no idea how this fits into the movie and the timeline is really not my problem. However after finishing this, I will say that this is completely AU.

Tie-Ins: I will have posters, teasers and picspams for this story. I might develop more as I edit and upload. They will all be listed (eventually) on my page. I'm going to post them on my tumblr. (Will eventually be on both pages probably, but their home will be on the desertfyre page)

Song Inspiration: There are some chapters that will have song inspirations. After I complete this story, I will actually upload a playlist for this story. Song inspiration for this chapter is Michael Jackson: Remember the Time (Thought of the title and remember the song and listened to it as I wrote this. For some reason it fits)

So without any further ado, introducing the Fascination Series:

Prologue- Remember the Times

Balem Abrasax lounged on a luxurious chair facing the Regenex pool, his face resting in his hand. The large glass windows before him, looked into space to the beautiful pink orange planet. It seemed larger than life, threatening to swallow the entire room.

They were returning from another planet where he was forced to go and settle a dispute. He barely left the planet whole for summoning him with their idiocy. He was certain they would never call him for such foolishness again. They were just now making it back to his beloved home on the planet Jupiter.

Yet he saw none of this nor was his mind on the former dispute he had to settle.

Instead his eyes rested on his pool that lapped back and forth gently, no louder than a whisper.

Suddenly the pool water parted, gently at first to reveal a head.

And then eyes.

Balem knew them to be brown although he could not see them from this distance. The brown eyes rested on him, finding him easily.

His own eyes narrowed. A few bubbles pooled around the head and Balem knew the eyes were laughing at him.

The head lifted and then a body. Balem's own head moved slightly, against his own accord, as he watched the young woman stand up. His eyes trailed her body, took in her golden-brown skin. It stood in stark contrast to her short cropped jet black hair. Her big gold hoop earrings tapped against her cheeks.

She reached up and brushed away the bangs from her eyes so that the water no longer dripped into them.

Balem followed her every movement unblinkingly, much like a marble statue.

A soft chuckle passed her lips, "Do you like what you see?"

Her voice was tinted with a bit of an Caribbean accent. Balem said nothing nor did he react as she began walking out of the pool. She climbed the steps using the railings.

Forking an eyebrow, she looked at him from under her long eyelashes. "Nothing to say?"

She stood before him with only a foot separating them.

The servants began to dry her off with an small scythe looking contraption. "I know you hate speaking darling, but do more than brood."

Now dried, her hair went back to its natural curly state. The servants helped her into a dark blue almost black robe, identical to the one that Balem wore before they all exited the room. She watched them go before turning back to Balem. As she waited for a response she tied the sash around her waist.

Finally Balem closed his eyes and slowly parted his mouth, his voice drawling a shade above a whisper, "And what, would you have me say? Amoya."

Amoya took one step forward. "Amazing you always have something to say and now you don't. Barking orders, plotting things...etc...etc. It's nice to know I can render you speechless...even after all these years, my husband."

It was then that Balem lifted his head out of his hands, his eyes opening. They narrowed as he looked at his wife's smirking face. He lowered his hand as he sat back in his chair gazing at her, "Be careful of what you speak, woman. I have power you do well to respect."

Before the elite could blink, Amoya had crossed the distance between then and her face was inches from his. His nose scrunched up in displeasure. Amoya slowly brought her mouth closer to his ear.

She lingered allowing him to feel her soft breath before speaking. "I haven't from day one and I won't start now."

Balem's hand shot up and grabbed her throat. There was no pressure applied yet Amoya laughed seeming unafraid. He brought her face back to his. Hazel eyes bore into chocolate brown. "I will have you tossed into the void if you continue to annoy me any further. My patience has been tested enough for the time being."

Amoya face split into a huge grin. "Ahh, yes, that planet dispute was nasty. Good thing I was there to put you on a leash before you could decide to blow up the planet and be rid of them, darling."

Balem twitched. "You are pushing me. I will toss you."

"Only to regret it later. Ahh Balem. I have heard that for years. Aren't you gonna give it a rest now? You must be tired of spouting the same old nonsense with no result. Don't strain yourself my dear, you may break given your delicate sensibilities. Besides, I thought you make it a habit not to repeat yourself."

Balem eyes flared as he glared at her a moment before releasing her. He sat back and stared up at her, still leaning over him.

"You are an irritation."

"My only concern is for you my dear husband. I plan to keep you around for a long, long time. You should be happy you have a wife as dedicated as I." Amoya's hand shot out and grabbed the edge of his robe.

Balem didn't even blink as she brought him to her, his face inches from hers.

Only his eyes shimmered with a rising anger. "I have told you before, Amoya, I will only tolerate so much of your mouth."

"Per day", Amoya tacked on smoothly. "And I have yet to reach my limit for the day, your majesty. And believe me, it's my duty as your wife to reach it. Matter of fact..."

She let go of his robe and reached a finger to run down his jaw with her smooth burgundy colored nails. "In all these years, I have yet to hear a thank you from you, Balem."

Said male was silent, though his eyes rested on her unblinkingly.

Amoya cupped Balem's chin and tilted it, "Say thank you Balem. Thank you for coming into my life and spicing it up."

Balem twitched.

"Well, you did steal me from my home on Earth. Although it was not much of a home for me, that is immaterial.", Amoya rubbed her thumb on his cheek, "But please believe I could have been long gone" here she paused briefly, "So I deserve a thank you. You remember that day, don't you? When you came and stole me away. I think I went easy on you considering that you kidnapped me. I could have reported you to the authorities."

Balem blinked and then snorted. "I am the authority, you will do well to remember. I remember you distinctly said you didn't care that you were kidnapped. That no one would care, but that is immaterial as well. You were mine from the moment I saw you. You could never have left short of having my permission to leave. There would no where in the universe that you could have hidden from me."

Amoya shook his head slightly, "Arrogant still. You twist my words from that day. Boy, I deserve a thank you for putting up with you. Don't you think? In all these years I only slapped you once."

Amoya straightened, her eyes narrowing, "And believe me, you have deserved more a thousand times over."

Balem twitched. "Once is all you get, Amoya."

"Well, not to worry." Amoya said smugly and then gasped. She put her hand to her hear. "Shh, you hear that?"

Balem rolled his eyes slowly.

"Seriously, you hear that?" Amoya looked back at Balem, "That is the sound of your unspoken thank you."

She leaned back down. "And this is my verbal, you are welcome, your highness."

Amoya leans in to kiss him, her mouth hovering inches from his. Balem turned slightly to receive the kiss only to have Amoya duck out at the last moment, pulling back. She straightened and gives him a saucy smile.

The Earthling woman turns away only to have a hand shoot out and grabbed her wrist. She looked over her shoulder in time to have Balem pull her back towards him. His eyes had gone stormy as he looked up at her.

"Whoops. Guess I did my total for the day", she laughed musically.

"You will not play me for a fool", Balem growled, sitting forward, his voice rising slightly, "Unless you have no value on your life."

"You have value on it or I wouldn't be here Please darling, you would think your threats would get more creative by now."

Balem yanked her back down to lean over him. He gripped her shoulders, holding her in place, staring into her brown eyes. "You are an Earthling. My Queen or not, I hold your life in my hands. Do not make me snuff it out."

Amoya cocked her head innocently, "But my lord King, if you do that, who is going to entertain you?"

Balem lifted his chin a fraction and gave her a mean glare. It did nothing to phase Amoya. She only continued, "I seem to remember our wedding night. You distinctly told me the moment I quit fascinating you, you would be rid of me. That was years ago. You do the math, darling."

Balem shook slightly and Amoya felt a temper tantrum coming on. She was disappointed when he seemed just as quickly to simmer down. He released her, waving his hand to dismiss her as he sat back gracefully.

"You are an irritation", he murmured again.

"You mean a fascination", Amoya countered, "Don't sulk my darling husband, it's unbecoming." She leaned down and pecked him on the lips.

A hand shot around the back of her neck and held her there for a kiss. She laughed into the kiss before pulling back.

"I make your life interesting. I know you well enough Balem. You may sulk and whine about my attitude, but the truth is you wouldn't have it any other way."

Here Amoya's eyes became subdued, her thoughts turning inward, as her eyes drifted to the youth-serum pool, a certain sadness creeping in as her voice lowered slightly, "And if I ever began to change, you had promised to make sure I didn't."

After a moment, a hand tilted her chin, snapping her back into reality. Brown eyes met hazel ones. Silence floated for a moment as Balem studied her.

The sadness disappeared as quickly as it came and Amoya smiled playfully, "Now..."

Amoya slipped away from Balem, turning on her heel as she sultry began to stroll away, swishing her hips in the process, "Enjoy your swim, darling."

Balem eyed her as she disappeared from the room. His face twisted in displeasure as he stood and disrobed. Walking into the pool, he growled.

He should be rid of her.

He should have been rid of her long ago.

She was an irritation, yet a beautiful fascination.
