AN: I hope you enjoy this story, leave a review If you do! :D It'll be because I had this story beta'd by the awesome Gitana del Sol!

I wrote this for the Operation Crunchy Banana Soup Challenge on the HPFC :D The prompt was to write a story about Luna and Neville being Ninja's!

Luna Lovegood runs hand in hand with Neville Longbottom,"run, run, run, RUN!" His feet beat the forest path under him eliciting a crunch sound from every leaf. Autumn is a beautiful time of the year and even better is spending it outside.

"Are they coming for us?"

"Yes, of course." She continues to leap gracefully over the three foot wide creek. "We must get out of the country!"

Neville jumps the babbling creek, but stops in his tracks with fright.

"Out of the country? What about my Gran and your dad?"

Luna rolls her eyes at Neville's seriousness, before airily quipping, "No time for that."

To punctuate her words, footfalls are heard behind them around the thick trees. Someone's watching them. Luna takes Neville's small hand once more.

Neville smiles despite all this that's happening, knowing that he's in the hands of a girl who will survive. There will be a time when he can come back.

Hours of running, ducking, and hiding in ditches filled with sewer water, Neville thinks he can't go any further. "Don't you know a place where we can stop?"

The wind gusts fast and hard as the sun goes down, all that can be heard under the sound of their panting is the steady hooting of owls. The footsteps they heard earlier were not being heard now, and Neville suggests that he must have gone to sleep. The moon low in the sky lights their path. With midnight falling upon them and the moon floating higher, the blackness swallows their vision. Neville squints into the distance, but cannot make out anything, but Luna's lithe silhouette.

"I can't see a thing!"

Luna's laugh tinkles through the forest, childlike and young. "Do you think I've been running aimlessly this whole time," She asks. "Believe me; I know where I'm going." Neville did believe her, she seems to know even in the dark the exact footsteps she should take to get where they need to be.

She's got a small, whimsical smile, and he sighs in resignation, knowing she will say no more on the subject. He is just going to have to trust her. Luna's perfect for this job and as his Ninja partner, the more adept one out of the two of them. Neville feels very secure with Luna, that's always her best feature, making people feel like she has things under control.

"Just here, behind that abandon building,"

Neville gulps.

"That looks kind of haunted, don't you think?"

Luna looks at Neville curiously and states in her dreamy voice, "Don't be afraid of the dead, Neville, they are here to protect us. We can welcome them."

She holds her necklace to her chest, reminding them both that they know a couple of loved ones, that are no longer with them. Both of them can hardly save a memory of them, it's been so long. Neville holds an arm out in front of Luna about to pounce onto the ten feet picket fence, and says,"Allow me."

He links his fingers together and holds them down at Luna's waist to give her a boost up.

"Thanks!" Luna grunts as she goes up and over. "Let me unlock it." Neville goes through, and grabs Luna's hand once again, he cannot help but feel a little creeped out at night.

"We are the Millers. Our neighbors over there," she indicates by jutting her chin in the direction of the haunted house, "are the Williams." I don't expect us to get caught, but if we do, that's our cover."

Neville just nods silently, while admiring Luna's Ravenclaw thinking, for giving them a safe place and a story to boot.

The spacious backyard has only two things: an upturned swing set, and an old tree house.

"That's our stop. Home sweet home atop the trees."

Luna and Neville have been on many missions before, and as wizards they always get the hard missions, down in the amazon. They aren't strangers to sleeping in trees.

"At least it's got a roof," Luna muses.

They both climb into their sleeping bags from their packs and pass out pretty quickly.

"Kids! Dinner is served!" Neville's Gran stands in the sliding door that leads to their backyard. She casts a locating spell and, finding them up in Neville's tree house, casts a patronus up into it. The patronus speaks loudly and wakes the napping ten year olds. As the children climb down sleepily they run over to Gran and hug her.

"I love you so much, Gran, I never want to leave you," Neville says very earnestly. "We had such an awesome adventure!"

Gran places potato soup down on the table, a bowl for each of them.

The two best friends continue to tell the story of their adventures together, interrupting each other constantly and laughing about it.

Gran smiles at her two ten year olds, She now thinks of Luna as one of her own children, it's been five years since the ministry decided to kill her father and his 'wretched' paper, she didn't have anywhere to go. As a grandmother, she couldn't bear the thought of Neville's friend being thrown into Ministry custody. God knows what would have happened to her there. Luna's never had a nurturing mother figure in her life, and Gran felt like she could make Luna feel right at home.

Gran is right, as usual. Luna and Neville get on just like siblings, they fight and play like the both of them grew up with the other all along. Luna imagines these amazing scenarios, to leave the real world, and it helps her calm down and forget things. Neville needs someone like Luna to loosen him up and let his mind soar. Luna needs Neville, as well because he can ground her when she gets into one of her moods. She misses her father everyday and makes it very hard on herself. Neville stops her from herself, and doesn't let her get lost in her own mind. Luna's escape is in her imagination, where she can get away from the world, but then again on the other hand, her escape is not in her imagination. It is very real, here with her new family.
