Disclaimer: I don't own the Zelda franchise, and all right should sail directly to Nintendo. Song lyrics belong to their respectful owners, I'm pretty sure it's something like ColdFlameZero, but yeah.

Everybody remembers the wedding, Kafei realizes one night. Everybody remembers the vows he and Anju took, the exchanging of the masks, but nobody seems to remember the little boy in green sitting silently on top of the festival tower, weary blue eyes trained on the ceremony.

Day to night, dark to light…

Everybody remembers the terrifying face on their moon, the imp's curses, but nobody remembers the little boy in green that limped out of the town, welts, gashes, and scars on his tattered back, bloodstained sword in one hand, mask in the other.

Fall the sands of time…

Everybody remembers the Indigo-Go's concert, how Mikau seemed a bit more tired than usual, the Gorons' competitions, how the champion Darmani seemed slower than average, and the parade of the Royal Deku Family, how the Deku Princess's personal guard looked more lethargic than normal. Nobody noticed that each had a green hat, a green skirt and the same exhausted look on their faces.

Let the years, like the gears of a clock, unwind…

Everybody heard the haunting melodies traveling down the streets, the sweet notes of an ocarina lulling children and adults alike to sleep, but nobody seems to remember the little boy in green sitting on the balcony of the Stock Pot Inn, tooting out songs on his little blue instrument.

In your mind, walk through time, back to better days…

Everybody knows the Gorman Troupe's Rosa sisters and their spectacular dance, but nobody recognizes the little boy in green in the corner of the Milk Bar who carefully polishes his Gilded Sword.

Memories like a dream…

Everybody spreads rumors of Pamela and her scientist father, but nobody cares when the little boy in green frowns and sets a wary hand on a scar on his arm that looks suspiciously like a bite mark.

Wash tears away…

Everybody who takes daily dosages of the Magic Hags' potions asks what ingredients are in the blue potion, but nobody mentions the little boy in green who had just left the potion shop with a pig mask in hand.

Like a star in the sky, darkness can't reach you…

Everybody who buys the Big Bomb Bag and knows of their potency pities the old lady at the bomb shop, who apologizes and says she was mugged while delivering them, but nobody notices how visibly the little boy in green flinches and whimpers.

Light the night…

Everybody drinking Château Romani thanks Cremia and Romani, but nobody pays any attention the little boy in green that adjusts the aim of his bow and shoots light arrows into the empty sky.

Joy is light…

Everybody laughs when Shiro the guard says that the little boy in green, of all people, saved him from a life of transparency, but nobody bothers to check when the boy in discussion sneaks his way out of the Inn's kitchen and into his room.

Till the new dawn…

Everybody fervently discusses masks and their merits at the Carnival, but nobody thinks of the little boy in green who sets his fingertips on his cheek and furrows his brows, as if unsure.

Cast away your old face…

Nobody notices as the little boy in green sets a determined look on his face and pulls out his ocarina, calling for his horse.

Let go your spite…

And nobody, nobody at all, including Kafei, notices as the little boy in green leaves Termina.

With this mask, I'll ask to borrow your light.

Everybody knows of their savior, but nobody knows who he really is.

A/N: So, yeah, tiny little song-fic, if it can even be called that. Constructive criticism is welcome; I typed this fairly late at night the other day, so there are bound to be some mistakes here and there. If there are any problems, let me know, and please review! Thanks!
