Chapter 1: New life With a Bounty.
Galen Marek gave everything he had to ensure his friends lived. For the first time in his life, ironically enough given the situation he was in, he felt alive, warm, not the cold darkness he had felt within himself all his life. As the lightning from the emperor's hands began to consume both him and the emperor himself that he forced back at him, a feat that was not accomplished to this degree before, he gave himself completely over to the force as he was preparing for his death, but death never came to him.
As Galen waited for the release of all emotion and pain, he noticed that instead that he seemed to drift off into an unconscious after he noticed that he was not falling to the floor as he expected he would. It seems that the Force has other plans for Galen Marek; perhaps the Force wanted Marek to have a different life after it used him in order to create a change for balance in the galaxy once more. His life was wrought with nothing more than pain, betrayal, anger, hate, and darkness ever since he was 6 years old, and when he finally had the chance to embrace the light he did so openly and willingly, but death was not the will of the Force for Galen.
As Galen fell through an endless void, the Force gave him visions of the future of his friends and his own future as a way of saying "Your friends are safe thanks to your actions, but your life has not come to its end. A new beginning you will make in a place unknown to you. You will find happiness there and more pain there, but this time what light you will make within yourself and others will not be taken away from you."
Time was irrelevant to Marek as years and seconds seemed the same to him in his unconscious state. The first sensation he feels was that of a cooling liquid feeling on his back and warmth on his chest. It was slow and difficult for Galen to open his eyes, but he could tell that where ever he was, a sun was shining overhead as natural light poured through the small opening in-between his eye lids. Eventually his eyes obeyed his command to open them, but what he saw he never would have expected considering where he had been moments ago.
There was a sky with a few clouds scattered throughout it. There was a calm and gentle breeze that felt refreshing and invigorating, especially in combination with the warm sunlight. The water he was laying in was cradling him gently and letting him drift freely. The water was a comfortable temp and was surprisingly clear considering in was a pond in the middle of a forest. The trees were variant in sizes but most seemed to be of the same type, at least as far as Galen could tell.
As he looked up into the sky, Galen couldn't help but remember the last words he heard from the person that was dearest to him.
Juno:" Will I ever see you again?"
To Galen's surprise he heard a voice in his head that sounded like his own answer her.
Galen:" Maybe not in this life, but I will meet you again, at least when we are on the other side."
These words along with Juno's calm and reassured reaction to them gave Galen a sense of peace. A part of him still felt solemn about it, but at least he was not in despair.
Not wanting to just float in the water forever. Galen swam to the closest shore he could find, which was behind him. He tried his best to shake some of the water off when he got to shore.
Galen:" The Force feels…. Peaceful here, but I doubt that it's the same for the entire planet. I don't sense anyone nearby. I should try to look for a city, town, or camp eventually though I would not mind meditating here."
Galen could feel the balanced nature of the Force in these woods. There was no chaos in it so it felt calm here, perfect place to meditate. Sitting on the ground, Galen crossed his legs, ignited his blue lightsaber and stared at the blade. The blue color of the blade placed his mind into a serine state, though this was not to be for long. As a breeze picked up intensity due to his meditation, Galen could sense a rather large lifeform heading towards him. The lifeform seemed to have little intelligence as far as he could tell, and he sensed hostile intentions from it.
Raising himself slowly from his seated position, Galen turned around to face the creature that he sensed. The forest behind him was thick with trees, and it was hard to see more than a couple of feet into them. A rather loud rustling noise was being made not that deep in the trees where Galen was looking. After a few minutes of rustling noises later, a large, black mouth peered out of the trees. The mouth drooled with saliva as the rest of the creature stepped outside the wall of trees and into the open area in front of Galen.
Galen noticed that this creature was a little bit bigger than a rancor and walked on four legs. It was covered in black scales and seemed to have no eyes, though Galen deduced that it probably found him using its other senses. The head looked like it was mostly for biting and chewing up prey. The body was long and bulky, with long reptilian legs and tail.
Galen held his still ignited lightsaber in the reverse shien style that he was most accustomed to as he prepared for the beast to strike him. The beast didn't take long to act out its intentions as it pounced at Galen, but while the creature may have been fast to a lot on this world it was actually a bit slower than most of the enemies that Galen was used to fighting. Galen effortlessly jumped over the beast and flung his lightsaber into its head. As the lightsaber struck the beast gave out a panicked and frenzied roar to the unbearable heat and pain it could feel on top of its head. Galen landed on the beast back and held his position with some difficulty as the beast thrashed about in agonizing pain. To end the beast's misery quickly, Galen used the force to make his lightsaber spin rabidly like a buzz saw. The creature couldn't feel the pain of the spinning blade as it was dead before its nerves could communicate with its brain that it was in anymore pain.
The beast fell to the forest floor with a loud thud as Galen jumped off its back and landed gracefully on his feet upright. He disengaged his lightsaber and held it to his side. Upon closer inspection of the dead animal, Galen noticed that there was blood in its mouth that was clearly not its own blood.
Galen:" It looks like this animal was feasting on something before it decided to find me. Hmmm this feels like…. Human blood."
With the Force many things are possible, like identifying what kind of living being something was from a blood sample. While Galen couldn't get any further details from it, it was definitely a sentient being the animal had recently eaten. To make sure that the people that knew the one that was eaten by this beast know that it was dead, he used his lightsaber to cut off a layer of its scaly hide.
After placing the piece of the hide into one of the pouches strapped to the backside of his belt, Galen decided to follow the trail of fallen trees in the beast's trail when it decided to find him. This was the best bet to find out where it killed its last unfortunate victim. The path consisted of shifted dirt and fallen leaves, but for the most part it was a relatively level ground path.
After what seemed like hours of walking through the path Galen finally could see what actually looked like a road and increased his speed slightly. When he reached the road he had bumped into a man wearing a dark cape, white shirt, and red pants. While Galen was only just brought to attention what he had bumped into, the other man; however, was so preoccupied that the sudden bump actually caused him to fall down onto his back.
?:" Watch where you're going dumbass!" He shouted.
Galen:" I'm sorry. I was trying to the find a road and didn't see you there…." He said before he started to examine the man.
Galen could feel dark intentions from this man. While the darkness that he felt was not new to him, even though it wasn't that menacing at all, the feeling it gave off was a bit strange to him, like a slight perversion of the force.
?:" you better use your eyes next time if you know what's good for you!"
Galen decided to read this man's mind to see if there was anything useful, even though a part of him didn't want to go into this rude man's mind. When Galen gazed into the man's surface thoughts he noticed that this man was not strong minded at all (No surprise there). When Galen delved deeper he discovered a job that this man was assigned to do and what its purpose was, as well as the man's name.
Inside the man's mind:" I don't know why they sent me to do this. I'm not the best at tracking animals let alone women who want to willingly go out with me. Guess I've got little choice in the matter. The orders were plainly clear: "place a tracking device onto the beast and let the rest of the guild capture it and in-slave it. tried to get the damn tracker on it when it ran into a lone house in the middle of nowhere... poor bastards that lived there never stood a chance, but hey it's not like I give a damn or anything."
Galen held his switched off lightsaber in reverse shien and spoke darkly and a bit angrily at the man.
Galen:" You are a heartless worm Bora."
Bora:" How the hell do you know my name!?"
Galen:" Because you are weak minded. You led that beast into a family's home and didn't do anything as it slaughtered and ate them. Are you that heartless!?"
Bora:" You mean that huge black scaled beast? Hell yeah I didn't help! Better off them than me!"
Galen:" Then no one will miss a heartless coward like you." He said coldly
Galen ignited his lightsaber. The sound that the blade made as it was ignited gave Bora quite the surprise and scare as it was a sound he never heard before.
Bora:" What the Hell is that!? Is that a sword made of LIGHT!?"
Galen guessed that no one on this planet knew what a lightsaber looked light and there for probably didn't know the kinds of things that they are capable of.
Galen:" To your simple mind it might as well be, but why tell you anything? It's just going to go in one ear and out the other." He said as he swung the lightsaber towards the left side of Bora's face.
Galen was not trying to swing that fast and so Bora was able to just duck underneath it in time, but he could feel the heat of the blade on the top of his head for an instant. As Bora raised his head again he noticed that something dark blue was floating down and he immediately recognized what it was.
Bora:" You Bastard! You ruined my hair! Now my chances of capturing women are even less now! I'm gonna kill you!"
Galen:" Many far better than you have tried."
Bora roars angrily at Galen and shouts:
"Prominence Whip!"
Galen was surprised to see such an unusual attack, but years of training of training under one of the most powerful Sith lords in galactic history helps you adapt to new situations very quickly. While the attack was indeed new to Galen, what with the circles and verbal incantations and all, this attack was actually very weak in power as far as Galen could sense.
Not even bothering to use Soresu, Galen lifts his right hand and intercepts all of the purple projectiles.
Bora:" Wow! This guy must be a real idio….." he thought to himself
His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed that each time that Galen had stopped one of the "fire" projectiles that they were not exploding at all, but instead were just disappearing into Galen's right hand.
Bora:" What the hell!? How are you canceling my spell attacks with just your right hand?! I didn't see you use any spell at all!"
Galen:" I'm not canceling them or using a "spell". I'm just taking the energy from them, but if you want it back so bad then here." He said coldly.
Extending his right hand back out towards Bora, Galen shot a small arc of lightning. To Galen this had to be one of the weakest force lightning arcs he ever used, but it did more damage to Bora then he thought that it would. Lightning coursed over Bora as he was pushed to the ground and shook violently for a few moments.
Galen could smell a little bit of burning cloth and flesh coming from Bora as he slowly got back on his feet.
Bora:" Don't you know who I am you prick!? If you don't then let me show you!"
He brings his arms in front of him as he slowly builds up energy into one of his most powerful attacks.
Bora:" Hell Prom…"
He was unable to finish his incantation as Galen had lifted him 7 feet into the air with force grip and proceeded to slam him into the ground. The impact knocked Bora completely out as well as giving him a moderate concussion. Galen stood on top of Bora's unconscious body and raised his lightsaber over to his right side with his left hand.
Galen:" No one will miss filth like you."
But before he brought his arm down in a horizontal swing a voiced called out in his head.
Kota:" He is beaten. Let it go. He is a danger to no one right now, especially you."
Galen despised this filth of a human, but the voice of Kota was right: it's not worth it. Before Galen lowered his arm and deactivated his lightsaber he heard a man shout out with authority.
?:" Hold it right there! Don't move!"
Malen turned his head to the right and saw a group of 5 men wearing white robes and armor briskly running towards him. Based on what the voice sounded like and that the group of men were wearing the same armor Galen guessed that these men were some law enforcers of some kind.
Galen:" They probably think I was about to kill this man, which I almost did." He thought to himself.
Knight group leader:" Your under arrest for attempted murder. Drop your weapon and come quietly!" He demanded with authority in his voice.
Galen:" While I do not feel anger towards you for doing your job, I will not come quietly."
Knight leader:" then I guess well will make you surrender then!" he says as his group surrounds Galen with swords drawn.
Galen merely closed his eyes and chuckled at them.
Galen:" if you think he can beat me with such lack luster tactics and weapons then you disappoint me."
Knight leader:" I'm going to enjoy smacking that smirk off your face. Men CHARGE!" he shouts as his team charges at Galen from all sides.
Galen jumped backwards and over the circle of charging knights in a lazy fashion without opening his eyes. Before the knights had time to get their line of sight back to Galen and charge again, Galen pulled his right arm slightly back and then shot it forward: sending a massive wave of kinetic energy at the knights and the incapacitated Bora. The force from the Force blast was enough to send the knights flying into trees, which broke and fell on top of the knights and incapacitating them as well as injuring their backs and skulls a good deal, but not enough to kill them. Bora was sent tumbling across the road at dizzying speeds: good thing for him that he can't feel this at the moment.
Galen deactivated his lightsaber and clipped it back to his belt and walked down the opposite side of the road from where the knights came from.
Galen:" They seemed to be law enforcement of some kind, which means I probably can't go into any nearby towns for a while without getting attacked again. O well, at least I will have some more time to meditate and maybe train. If I can't get into a town soon then I'm probably going to have to hunt down food eventually." He said as he walked away from the scene he caused and ended in less than 7 minutes.
1 day later with the knights and Bora:
Bora took the worst hit and still did not wake yet, but was stirring a bit. The knights; however, slowly started to regain consciousness, though some of them wished they hadn't. After regaining consciousness, the knights decided to report this incident to the magic council for two reasons: One is for the escaped wizard criminal who was about to commit murder, Two was the unusual power that the wizard had and his weapon that didn't seem to run off of magic but still looked like a blade of light.
It took the knights about 2 days to get to ERA and they were feeling quite tired, but their report was a bit too important for them to sleep just yet. They opened the doors into the massive white building and entered what looked like a reception area with marble floor. There were a few seats on the side for those waiting for a meeting with different council members for different reasons, though they were not as busy as many reception areas often are since only important matters are delivered to the magic council. The receptionist at the desk in the middle of the waiting room was a woman who looked to be in her late 20's to early 30's: she had brown hair, green eyes, and a formal dress of a blue color.
Knight leader:" We wish to make a report to the council about a criminal for an attempted murder using unusual or unknown magic and possessing a sword of unknown make and design with a blade made of light that does not use magic."
Receptionist:" While this may be a cause for concern for some, I'm afraid this is of insufficient consequence to get a report to the council. I can provide a bounty reward mission issued by the council to all magic guilds available."
The receptionist pulls out a worn looking sheet of paper and writes down a bounty request on the paper for approval by the council. Placing the paper in a device, that looks like a small storage box with a slit for an opening to place papers in, that magically sends the paper to the proper officials that deal with bounties in the ERA ( I'm thinking like some sort of warranty office of sorts or something along those lines. Plz correct me if I'm wrong about that and give me a proper analogy.)
After about 10 minutes the paper is returned to the receptionist via the same device used earlier with a magic stamp of approval on the back of the bounty reward paper. The only thing that is missing now was some of the details about who the bounty was for.
Receptionist:" Can you give me details about this person?"
The leading knight got out of one of the chairs on the far corner of the room and walked up to the front of the reception counter.
Knight leader:" I couldn't see his face since he was wearing a white hood that overshadowed most of his facial features. He is roughly average height for a young adult. He wears white robes with black undergarments and is caring a silver cylinder that acts as a sword with the blade being made of light without using magic. This person should be considered very dangerous."
The receptionist writes down the description of the man on the bounty as well as the crimes he has committed. After finishing she hands the paper to the knight and asks if this information is correct and that this bounty amount is satisfactory.
Knight leader:" It is mam."
Receptionist:" Good. I'll make the copies and have the appropriate authorities distribute the flyers to all magic guilds under the ERA."
With that the knights took a bow and left the building and went back to their patrols.
This is what the bounty flyer said:
Wanted!
Description: White robed human male of young adult age. Carries a cylinder shaped sword with the blade being made of light without the use of magic. Possesses unknown magic abilities.
Wanted for attempted murder, resisting arrest, and assaulting 5 knight officers.
