Sorry for the long chapter, I won't do them as long as this in the future.

I'll try to update with about 500 twice a week but it may not always be possible because my electric devices might be confiscated, I get writers block, The Wi Fi goes down or many other things.

Sorry for any grammar mistakes I might make, I have never been good at punctuation.

Please review and follow/ favourite, it would mean a lot to me.

Hiccup POV

There it was, the green death its milky coloured eyes with red pupils no wider than a blade of grass. It was playing with me ,blowing what it thought were playful sparks of fire, in fact they were bigger than stormcutter; clearly enjoying keeping me on the run until he decided to eventually kill me. His soul piercing eyes told me I was never going to win.

How did Dagur expect me to train this lump of dragon so big it was stopping the river and was level with the cliff I was standing on. The only and last sight I would see would be Dagur's armarda of Bezerkas. I could see Dagur sitting in his watch tower looking down at me with smug expectant eyes. I would never get to say bye to Astrid, Stormfly, Cloudjumper, my mum Valka but worst of all Toothless. If only my dad Stoick was here he would know what to do.

Astrid and my mum Valka were at the back under heavy monitoring by the armarda. Only Cloudjumper, Toothless and Stormfly were being monitored more.

"I am their chief I am supposed to protect, them but instead I ended leading them into a death trap," I thought miserably.

Astrid POV

I could do nothing but stand around glimpsing through the armarda as Hiccup was chased around like a toy. Stormfly was on a big oak board, head collared and body clamped down by massive iron bars bolted into the board. Valka was sobbing in the background, too sad to even look at Cloudjumper who for once was not feeling in charge.

I had to do something, seeing Toothless was heart breaking, he too was bolted down and muzzled. His legs were working like gronckle wings desperately floundering about. The only sign of hope I could see was the fact that Toothless's muzzle was slowly turning red from the heat of his glowing his plasma blast that was inside his mouth slowly heating it up.

Toothless POV

Though dragon skin is fire proof it still hurt, the muzzle was digging into and burning my scales. I was trying hard to escape but nothing worked my tail, neck, back and head were bolted down and my wings and tail were tied together; not that they would do any good without my rider.

It was at this moment of despair that an unusually big and powerful plasma blast shot out of my mouth and exploded my muzzle. This was a start even though it had taken me two suns. I would have taken time to praise myself but I couldn't feel happy when the iron bars were digging into my to by embellishing scales.

When I looked around at my side I saw it was glowing a neon blue colour that I had only ever seen once; when battling the alpha. This was different though, instead of a surge of mindless rage it was more of protective instinct and worry welling up and exploding out. My scales was burning red hot and starting to gradually melt the iron bars.

Astrid POV

Shortly after Toothless's muzzle came flying through the air Hiccup fell of the cliff.

No one could save him now.

"Hiccup" I yelled as all my guards ran forward to catch Hiccup but it was was too late, the cliff was empty, all that was left was his metal peg leg. It had given way and he had stumbled of the cliff and past the green death. Valka had barely opened her eyes before she sharply shut them and buckled to her knees. Crumpled on the floor Valka screamed, throwing her head back in a wail of despair.

She looked like a different person, not the one I knew.

Since the guards had let go of me and were too busy to notice that I'd took one of their axes and cut my ropes.

I instantly rushed forward just in time to see Hiccup floating up on a pillow of air with his wing suit folded out. I ran forward and picked up his metal leg while Toothless was shooting carefully aimed fire balls into the air to keep Hiccup up. I took of Toothless's iron bars and took of his collar, jumped into his back and he started running, shooting or gliding over guards in his way. We were about to glide over the canyon when Savage grabbed Toothless's tail and tried to tie it together, in his haste be pushed Toothless and me off the cliff.

Unfortunately Savage had pushed Toothless's tail in so we couldn't even glide, Toothless Frantically flapped and spread his wing but it wasn't going to work. I grabbed Hiccup's metal leg and frantically jammed it into the stirrup. While doing this my hand got stuck and blood started oozed out sending a sharp wave of pain that shot through my body.

I had to ignore it though and guide Toothless up to Hiccup who was rapidly losing altitude. I moved the stirrup by shoving my hand in different places, each making my hand bleed more. I had seen Hiccup ride Toothless so many times I barely had to think about the positions.

Hiccup POV

By the time Astrid reached me she was unconscious from blood loss. Astrid's hand and Toothless's stirrup were stained red.

Why would she do this?

She had put her life and hand on the line to save me.

I knew she liked me, that was obvious but sacrifice her life for me? This was a whole new level. But I would do the same for her.

As soon as we landed on the other side of the ravine a cold breeze swept over us chilling Astrid to the bone. I desperately yanked at her hand trying not to break the stirrup or my metal leg. I had to get her hand out if I was going to be able to rescue my mum. More and more pressure was mounted on my back as I saw thousands of armed berzerka solders scrabbling around the edge of the ravine.

The job wasn't made any easier by the fact that Astrid had gone completely limp, she hung over the side of Toothless too heavy and uncooperative for me to lift. In the end Astrid's hand was jogged out by Toothless pulling it by his teeth. I snatched my metal leg out of the stirrup and attached it to my leg.

Toothless helped me nudge Astrid on to the saddle while I sat nearly on Toothless's head to support her. It was just in time as Dagur had just flown over attached to his skrill and was commanding his armarda to make their skrills go quicker.

Toothless POV

I finally took of into the sky for my first pleasurable flight of the day, I couldn't fully enjoy the moment because I had an unconscious rider on my back but the occasion still helped to relieve my stress. We flew over a sea of solders swarming over the cliff and landed next to my best mate. The beautiful deadly nadder called Stormfly perked up when we landed and my rider's mum stood up proud and confident as if she had never been the slightest upset a few minutes ago.

"Hiccup" my rider's mum called but it was too late.

I was just finishing biting the ropes of her legs when I felt a sharp pinch on my tail and turned around to see the army behind me and my rider on the floor with a fresh wound in his back, his tunic sliced with ease. Savage stood over him about to deliver the final blow when Dagur grabbed his sword.

" You idiot!" he yelled. "We need him to train this seadragonus giganticus maximus. If your going to kill him at least torture him first then kill him slowly in pain"

I grabbed my rider's arms and galloped through the army shooting anyone who came close to my rider. He wasn't awake anymore meaning I had 2 unconscious riders to save. Frantically I jumped over the gap but just falling too short and I plummeted past the seadragonus giganticus maximus into the tepid water.

I could feel my rider going numb, he was still there but his mate was starting to fall over the side and I ended up with her grabbed by my back legs.

I desperately tried to stop us from going over the waterfall but I only had my tail and teeth to grip into anything and we all dived down landing in a freezing sea even colder than the river. I wasn't particularly cold but for my rider and his mate it was a different story.
