Chapter 1: after an absence Aichi returns
"Hey Kai, why do you have a longer face than usual?"
Miwa asked with a cheeky grin, earning him a cold jade glare. Kai just looked away from his annoying friend after making his usual tch sound.
"Aww is it because your little blue crush hasn't been coming to card capital as much as usual?"
The blond teased, The brunette just stayed silent and pretended that he hadn't heard him.
"Kai!"
The loud blond complained, faking the hurt in his voice.
"What?"
The brunette sighed, getting slightly annoyed that his friend was intentionally trying to bother him.
"Aichi's here"
Miwa replied with a smirk as he pointed to a blue haired boy who had just entered the shop.
"Ah onii-San! It's been a while!"
Kamui called as he ran over to greet his slightly timid friend. The blue haired boy smiled happily as he spotted his black haired friend, however the brunette noticed that his eyes seemed to not express the same happiness that the rest of him expressed.
"Hi Kamui, sorry I've been really busy"
Aichi replied as he sat down at one of the tables, the smallest of the two sighed before giving the older boy a smile.
"It's fine, I've just been worried about you, even Emi didn't know where you were"
The black haired boy's words caught the brunette's interest, he hadn't known that Aichi's sister hadn't even known where he had been.
Sapphire eyes cast down towards the table before a cheery smile propped it's way onto Aichi's face.
"Ah I've been in the park admiring the fresh air"
The blue haired boy replied with a laugh, the brunette frowned, he had checked the park many times before yet he hadn't laid his sight upon the boy.
"Onii-San... You're odd... It's the middle of fall and it's been raining a lot..."
The black haired boy laughed at how strange his answer was. Aichi shrugged slightly.
"I like the rain"
"Wow Kai, I guess Aichi interests you more than I initially thought"
Miwa chirped, startling the brunette out of his trance of watching the blue haired boy.
"Ah Kai is here"
Aichi said as he noticed the brunette, he hadn't fully heard the blond's words except for his own name.
The brunette nodded in acknowledgement towards the blue haired boy to show that he had heard him.
"Hey onii-San want to battle me?"
Kamui asked as he brought out his cardfight deck, the brunette noticed that sapphire eyes lit up slightly at the mention of a cardfight.
"Yeah, I'd love to!"
Aichi replied as he brought out his own deck and took the cards out of their holder. However when he did so the brunette noticed the blue haired boy flinch slightly before dropping his deck into the table.
"Eh, you okay Aichi?!"
The smallest boy asked as he swiftly helped his friend pick up his deck, the blue haired boy nodded before rubbing his wrist slightly.
"Yeah, I just slept on it wrong"
The brunette frowned at Aichi's answer, the smile on the boy's face didn't seem to match what he had said.
The black haired boy's face melted into a sympathetic smile as the two starred their cardfight.
The brunette watched the two carefully, mainly the blue haired boy, he noticed that with every card he drew a slight wince followed right after.
The blond sighed at how the brunette was watching the boy, not noticing what the brunette had.
"Kai if Aichi catches you staring he'll start thinking that you're creepy"
Miwa whispered, Kai glared at his friend before turning his gaze away from the cardfight.
"Onii-San... You're amazing!"
The black haired boy chirped as the sixth damage landed in his damage zone.
Aichi smiled at the smaller boy.
"You are too Kamui- ah I've got to go!"
The blue haired boy suddenly started collecting his cards, the brunette raised a brow at the strangeness of the young boy's actions.
"Eh? Where do you have to go in such a rush?"
Kamui asked as he watched his friend scatter to collect his cards.
"Um I promised my mom that I would start dinner!"
The blue haired boy replied before running out of the store, Kamui tilted his head in confusion because of the oddness of his friend.
The brunette left the shop soon after the blue haired boy did, it didn't take long for him to locate him. He frowned when he realized that Aichi was walking in the exact opposite direction of his house.
However the smaller boy quickly turned a corner, the brunette jogged to catch up but when he turned the corner the younger boy was out of sight.
The brunette cursed silently to himself for losing Aichi's trail before he turned around to head towards his apartment, wondering why the smaller boy had lied to one of his friends.
Kai couldn't understand why Aichi would lie about where he was going, from what he had observed of the boy, he seemed like the reliable and honest type of person.
The brunette felt uneasy as he thought of reasons why the smaller boy would lie, though he couldn't understand why it hurt to see the young boy not act like himself.
He decided that he would try to confront Aichi when he saw him the next day, though he didn't know how or why he would explain the confrontation.
He knew he was well respected by the boy, however he knew that since he usually never showed him much interest that it would seem odd tho the boy that he was the one who had actually seemed out instead.
The brunette wished he had been more openly kind to the boy so that confronting him wouldn't seem as odd or unusual as it would when he next came across the boy.
Kai shook his head to empty it as he laid in his bed, he knew that he would never get any sleep if he kept on thinking about the other boy.
