Hey Raisuke here, sorry about the long wait but a lot has happened in my life. Illness, college, lost chapters and general muse problems, I have two new stories that are B-sides to each other and this is one of them. This has been in the works for a while, having been rewritten four times so far. I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer - You know the drill I don't own Devil May Cry or Harry Potter... I wish I did.

-Chapter 1 start-

"Get moving Dumbass, I'm going to be late if you hold me up anymore." The white haired girl said with annoyance as she looked at the man behind her. She was eleven years old and had white hair going down to her knees. Her eyes were an icy blue that glinted with mischief and the promise of pain.

Her attire consisted of a dark purple heavy metal spaghetti strap top with a black leather two tailed coat over it. She was also wearing a pair of black trousers that had a purple tint in the right light. A pair of heavy combat boots, pointed gloves and a black spiked choker finished her apparel

"Yeah, yeah keep your panties on, I'm coming." Came an older male voice from behind her. He was a tall man with white hair cut into a mop headed style. His eyes were also an icy blue that glowed with cockiness and mischief.

He was wearing a black shirt with a red two tailed coat over the top, black and red etched trousers covering combat boots adorned his lower half. In one hand he was carrying a guitar case and he had a trunk slung over his other shoulder.

"We only have five minutes until the train leaves and I don't want to be late." The girl responded with a short glare.

"You actually want to be on time Jade? Don't tell me you're developing Vergil's stick in the ass." The guy replied as he walked through the crowd, following the now named Jade.

"Whatever Dante, unlike you I know that the train won't wait for me." Jade replied with a roll of her eyes before walking straight through a brick wall onto the hidden platform.

The platform was full of various people milling about saying goodbye to their families before the children left to go to school until Christmas, minimum. It was among this flock of people that Jade spotted her prey.

She was a woman of average height with black, shoulder length hair, she had heterochromatic eyes, her left eye being red and her right eye being a bluish green. She was wearing a white formal jacket that was tight enough to leave little to the imagination, she also had a pair of white shorts that barely descended past her waist. Her legs were covered by a pair of tights and knee height combat boots. Several gun butt's could be seen from several holsters around her body, resting against the wall next to her was a canvas bag that the woman was keeping in her hand.

"Hey Lady, we finally arrived, no thanks to the Dumbass." Jade said as she moved next to the woman.

"I thought he was going to make you late, but I suppose he has a habit of arriving in the nick of time." Lady said while looking at the man who was strolling over to the pair. "But he did waste my time and as they say, time is money." She finished with a smirk.

"Hey Lady, what are you doing here?" Dante asked as he got to the girls. "I know you just wanted to see my handsome face." He said while flicking his head to the side moving his hair.

"No, I came to see Jade off and to give her something. I'm actually her guardian within the magical world you know." Lady said with a raised eyebrow. "By the way I've added two hundred dollars to your debt for wasting my time."

"What the hell Lady." Dante responded angrily, dumping the trunk on the ground he glared at the woman. The trunk was caught by an annoyed eleven year old who was glaring death at the man before she turned to face Lady.

"My train leaves in a few minutes, I'm going to have to go." She said while ignoring her Uncle. Lady nodded before unzipping her canvas bag and pulling out a tube and a pair of pistols within their holsters. Giving them to the girl she smirked.

"I was able to use the laws of magical heirs to allow you to carry weapons and I was able to talk to some acquaintances to allow you to carry guns, just try not to be seen in a non magic area with them, that would just be annoying. In the tube is a little something I was able to convince your brother to part with."

"I told that kid to look after it, not to give it up to the first person to ask." Dante said while heavily annoyed.

"No one listens to you Dante that's just the way it is." Jade said with a smirk. "Look I have to get on the train now, I'll see you guys at Christmas." She finished while looking at the pair.

She was quickly pulled into a hug by Lady before Dante patted her on the back. "See you then brat." He said with a smirk at his niece,

"I left a sheet of paper with a list of rules you can exploit to allow you to carry your weapons within Hogwarts." Lady said as she disengaged from the hug. "And I left several other loopholes and locations of interest within the school. I'll see you at Christmas, or if you get in trouble... Whichever's first." The woman said before ruffling her hair.

"See ya Dante, see ya Lady." Jade said before turning around and jumping onto the train just as it began to leave. Now all that was left was to find a seat.

Daphne Greengrass was the heiress of the Greengrass family, she was a pureblood witch and was the daughter of Damien and Temperance Greengrass. She had straight black hair that went down to the small of her back and had piercing blue eyes. She was dressed in fine silk robes with the Greengrass coat of arms on her shoulders and had a civil yet reserved look on her face. She was sat in a compartment with her childhood friend Tracey Davis.

Tracey was a half blood daughter of the Davis family, the Davis family were actually a vassal family of the Greengrass family, that was the entire reason they knew each other. Each Greengrass had a Davis as their servant in an official capacity.

Tracey had blonde hair in a pig tail and had forest green eyes. She was wearing silk robes with the Davis coat of arms on her shoulders and the Greengrass symbol over her heart.

Pureblood politics were a messy affair, the dark families were growing more and more powerful as they bribed their way to more power. The Greengrass family were a neutral family, one of the more important families of the neutral block and due to this Daphne was given orders to ingratiate herself with a politically powerful family to allow political discussions to begin to increase the power of House Greengrass.

She needed to see which house she was placed in before she could make any moves but all signs pointed towards her placement within Slytherin and that meant having to deal with the dark families. She was resigned to this when the door was unexpectedly wrenched open by a white haired girl who was carrying a large trunk with one hand and a tube and two holsters in the other.

"Can I sit here? Everywhere else is full." The girl asked as she looked at the occupants.

"Sure, just don't expect much conversation." Daphne responded with an indifferent tone of voice.

"Whatever." The girl said with a grunt before swinging her trunk onto the overhead rack. Sitting down opposite Daphne she unscrewed the cap on the tube before sliding out a beautiful katana that was drenched with an almost palpable amount of magic along with several papers which the girl began to peruse.

The compartment remained awkwardly silent for nearly an hour, the silence never bothering the white haired girl. Finally the girl finished reading her papers before pulling out the holsters and pulling the pistols from within.

Jade was enjoying the silence, sure she was as loud as it came, a trait she learnt from Dante but when she was reading or working with weapons she liked the quiet. She had just finished memorising the lists of rules she needed to exploit to keep her weapons on her person and was now pulling out the pistols that Lady had given her.

The pistols were both M1911 pistols, both pistols had a number of attachments to create two very different firing styles. The right hand gun was matte black with pearl grips and was specialised for long ranged attacks and stability. The left hand gun was white with cool black leather grips and was specialised for quick drawing and comfort. Flipping the guns around in her hands she quickly holstered the pistols before taking off her jacket and strapping the holsters to herself, the belts travelling across her top, and replacing her coat.

Suddenly the door was knocked and pulled open by a portly old lady who had a friendly smile on her face. "Anything off the trolley dears?" She asked the girls within the compartment.

Pulling out her purse Jade began looking over the trolley before looking at the trolley lady. "Do you have anything that's good for energy, I'm kind of jet lagged?" She asked as she pulled out some money.

"There's pepper-up bombs that have pepper-up potion inside them, they give a nice burst of energy and can keep you awake or you could buy a coffee frog, they're a new version of chocolate frog." The lady said with a smile.

"I'll take two of each." She said before paying and collecting her sweets. Popping one of the bombs in her mouth she suddenly felt far more alert as steam begun pouring from her ears.

The trolley lady quickly left after the other girls expressed their disinterest in the sweets. This interaction allowed Tracey to work up the courage to talk to the white haired girl.

"Um, what's jet lag?" The girl asked, nervousness within her tone, she so wanted to break the awkwardness within the compartment.

"It's when you travel between time zones too quickly and it messes up your internal clock, I woke up in Capulet City, America this morning, I then travelled for ten hours over eight time zones before arriving in London where we went straight to Diagon Alley to buy the uniform and books because they don't sell them in America. Then I travelled to the platform, I've been awake for fifteen hours, I should be going to bed but I still have ten hours until then." Jade said through gritted teeth. "It makes you really tired but I can't go to sleep because that would make my jet lag worse."

"Why would an American come to Hogwarts, I thought you would have gone to Salem?" Daphne asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Born in England, both my mum and stepfather went to Hogwarts and so did my magical guardian." She answered with a grunt. "I've been down to go to Hogwarts since before I was born."

Daphne seemed to relax at the knowledge that Jade wasn't a muggleborn. "My name is Daphne Greengrass and this is Tracey Davis, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Jade Potter." She responded as she ripped a coffee frog open, snatching it out of the air before it could escape. She ignored the shocked looks that appeared on their faces.

"But Jade Potter is supposed to have black hair and green eyes and wear glasses." Tracey stuttered out as she stared at the girl wide eyed.

"And I was, until I turned eight, then I went through my families awakening and gained the family traits." Jade answered just as the caffeine from the frog hit her system.

"But the Potters never had an awakening..." Tracey said in confusion before Daphne spoke up.

"She said her stepfather went to Hogwarts, Lily Evans only married James Potter, therefore James Potter isn't her father." She said while looking at the white haired girl.

"Give the girl a prize, she got it in one." Jade replied with humour in her voice. "My mum and my stepfather had a row that lasted for six months before they got back together, I was conceived during that time."

Before the conversation could continue the door was ripped open to reveal a short blond haired boy accompanied by two boys that could only be described as bookends. "Greengrass, Davis." He acknowledged before looking over the compartment. "I heard Jade Potter was on the train, have either of you seen her?"

"No they haven't, what do you want with her?" Jade answered for them while staring at the boy.

Finally spotting her the boy sneered. "I want to make sure she knows that some wizarding families are better than the others, so she doesn't consort with filthy little mudbloods like you." He said before looking at the two other girls. "You really need to work on who you associate with Greengrass, otherwise you might regret it."

"You're not my keeper Malfoy." Daphne responded tautly before Jade snorted with laughter.

"Your name is Malfoy?" She said between laughter causing the boy to begin turning red.

"What's so funny about my name mudblood?" He spat out at the girl. "My family is a proud and noble family."

"Your name means bad faith. That tells me all I need to know about you." She answered before sitting back and closing her eyes.

"I'll show you to insult my family mudblood. Crabbe, Goyle, show this filth why you should respect the Malfoy family." He sneered before the bookends moved to grab the seated girl. The girl suddenly vanished in a blur and reappeared behind Malfoy, tapping the katana's sheathe on his shoulder.

"You know Malfoy you really need to learn some common sense, I'll give you a free lesson in the interest of being nice." The girl said from where she was standing, ignoring everyone's shock. "Be kind to strangers because you never know who would be willing to kill you." She said before opening her blade slightly to make her point.

Disappearing from next to him she reappeared in her seat just in time for Malfoy to fall against the door frame with terror etched into his features. Quickly he stood up and began backing away followed by the bookends. "My father will hear of this." Was all he had to say as he beat a hasty retreat.

Pushing the door closed she turned to the girls who were gaping at her. "What?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You just threatened Draco Malfoy with a sword, that's what." Tracey said incredulously before sinking in on herself when Jade looked at her.

"I didn't threaten him, I merely gave him some advice while holding Yamato." Jade replied innocently while drumming her fingers on the katana on her lap.

"Are you even allowed a sword while in school?" Daphne asked coolly as she looked at the sheathed blade. She was really beginning to hate the smirk on her face as Jade smirked again before picking up the sheets of paper.

"Hogwarts charter, section twenty two, subsection six. All family heirs that are due to accept a lordship, a ladyship, a barony or a dukedom, have the right to carry up to three weapons on their person excluding a wand. Ministry Weapons Charter Section twenty seven, subsection three. All students of demonology have the right to carry a blade at all times with no exceptions." Jade said with a smirk. "I'm the heir of the Potter family and will become a Duchess upon my majority and I am a student of demonology and am in training to become a demon hunter."

"But these rules are nearly six hundred years old, nobody uses them." Daphne said as she looked over the rule list.

"They were never repealed, replaced or trashed therefore they are still in effect and usable." Jade said. "While I'm not going to become one, it pays to have a Slytherin as your magical guardian."

"The golden girl has a Slytherin as a guardian? I thought you would think that the snakes were slimy and not to be trusted." Daphne said with heavy sarcasm on the golden girl.

"I can tell who to trust, no hat will tell me otherwise. Some people are douche bags no matter what house they are in. You can't tell me otherwise because I know better." Jade responded before unsheathing Yamato to examine it's blade. "I'm not going to Slytherin, the Death Eater kids would probably be dead by Christmas from trying to provoke me. Lady thinks I could get into Ravenclaw because I inherited my mother's intelligence and Loyalty is incredibly important to me so I could go to Hufflepuff." She said with a shrug. With that the discussion of houses began.

The last eight hours of the train ride thankfully passed relatively quickly, other than a brunette called Hermione looking into their cabin while looking for a toad they were left undisturbed. The trio had talked on and off about each of their lives before Hogwarts.

Daphne and Tracey heard more about the extent of the demon problems and were surprised that the muggles weren't oblivious to magic... There were enough demons that most countries didn't see the need to hide magic.

Jade learned more about the magical world and the relationships of the old pureblood families, such as the Davis family being Vassals to the Greengrass family and Tracey's tendency to call Daphne 'My Lady' or 'Lady Daphne'.

But now the train ride was over and the trio were moving out of the train, they were dressed in their Hogwarts robes, the only difference being that the robes were missing their house colours as they hadn't been sorted yet.

"Firs' years, firs' years over here." Came a loud booming voice from the end of the platform. "Firs' years this way." The man was big, both in height and girth. The man stood tall at seven and a half foot and had bushy brown hair and a large beard with beetle black eyes.

"That's Hagrid, he's the groundskeeper." Daphne told the girls she was with. "Father says he has giants blood." She added as a titbit.

"So long as he doesn't do anything too dangerous we'll be good." Jade responded as she glanced at the man. Daphne responded with a quirked eyebrow. "Do I have something on my face?"

"Nothing 'too' dangerous?" Daphne asked in a light voice.

"What's life without a bit of danger?" Jade replied with a massive grin as they walked along the path.

"Safe?" Tracey answered, ignoring the fact that the question was rhetorical.

"Boring, that's what." Jade continued as if Tracey had never spoke. The conversation was ended when the group began to move around the corner, several amazed gasps sounded as the first years had their first view of the castle.

The castle looked idyllic, tall spires rising above the high stone walls, a light mist was rising from the lake framing the scene. It looked like it should have been on a postcard.

The group was being led down to a small dock with a number of boats lining it, the water was black, unnaturally so. The waves were lapping against the shore, creating a peaceful and soothing sound which echoed around the shore.

"Anything about the lake I need to know?" Jade asked as they got to the water.

"There are a lot of different species within the lake but they won't bother us. Only the giant squid would get close to us but that's harmless, according to Father the worst it does is dunks a student before putting them back in the boat." Daphne replied coolly. "So no need for you to kill anything."

"No more'n four to a boat." Hagrid ordered as he sat in the centre boat on his own. The three girls quickly grabbed a boat where they were joined by a boy who seemed intent on ignoring the three girls and the boat began to move as Hagrid ordered the boats forward.

And with a light noise of parting water they were on their way to Hogwarts.

They had been handed over to an aging Scottish woman with stern features and an even sterner voice called Professor McGonagall, who had led them into a cramped side chamber before turning to address them.

It was boring in Jade's opinion, yeah she had the explanation of houses then of the house cup competition, blah blah blah. Daphne was giving it the smallest amount of attention she could without being seen as rude. Tracey was listening intently so she could fill Daphne in on anything she missed.

It stayed rather uninteresting, mainly students speculating on the sorting or rather what the sorting was. One boy was telling everyone that they had to wrestle a troll and one bushy haired girl was reciting spells under her breath.

The ghosts that floated through the walls were a nice change of pace, though they all seemed to subconsciously avoid her. They had argued about a poltergeist who sounded like Dante's kind of person and had welcomed them to Hogwarts.

Then McGonagall had returned having them form a straight line before leading them forwards... Why was she doing this again? Oh yeah, the truancy officers were pissing her and Dante off.

The doors opened to reveal a massive Hall, four tables dominating the floor, resplendent in green, blue, yellow and red respectively. Hundreds of students in black robes lined the tables, their colour coded piping denoting their houses.

There were candles floating in the air giving light to the room, helped by the clear ceiling that was showing the night sky. A whispered voice sounded from behind her confirming that. "It's enchanted to look like the night sky, I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."

"Not as impressive as I thought it would be." Jade muttered under her breath, receiving a snort from beside her.

"Not impressive?" Daphne whispered with mock incredulity. "Is there anything impressive for one such as yourself?"

"You see one magic castle, you've seen them all." Jade replied with a small tut. "It's even got the same amount of narcissism." She added while looking at the golden throne in the centre of the staff table. A snort sounded from Daphne as they were finally stopped in front of the staff table before McGonagall walked off to the side and collected an ancient three legged stool and a ratty old has which was placed on the stool.

Which then began to sing... Badly.

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve and chivalry,

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin,

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folk use any means,

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

By this time McGonagall had pulled out a scroll which she immediately began to read off of. "Abbot Hannah."

'God no. This is so boring.' Jade thought to herself as she watched the girl sat on the stool for several minutes before being sent to Hufflepuff, her robe changing colour as she stood. "So I guess we're going to be here for awhile." She muttered as a redhead called Susan Bones went up to the hat.

"Of course we are, these things can take anything up to an hour... or so my father says." Daphne retorted, her sheer boredom hidden under a layer of indifference. "But it's a thousand year old tradition, we'll just have to grin and bear it."

"Kill me now, I'm not standing here for an hour." She whined, getting a giggle from Tracey and a small, wry grin from Daphne that disappeared as soon as it appeared.

"If it helps I can tell you about the people in our year, it would pass the time at the very least." Daphne coolly replied, her cold blue eyes flicking to her companion who nodded with a huff. "The first girl up was Hannah Abbott, a half-blood whose family runs the most successful apothecary in Magical England. Her family is currently the sixth richest family in Magical England and sits at the tier of Noble and Wealthy, meaning they have five votes in the Wizengamot."

"In comparison the Davis Family sits as an Ancient family gaining only two votes and the Potter and Greengrass Families sit as Ancient and Most Noble with ten votes each." Tracey cut in to explain. "There are Three Hundred and Thirty Three votes in the Wizengamot with the highest amount of votes belonging to the Minister at fifteen with the highest normal member having ten."

"That makes you and I very valuable to political groups, we are the heirs to two of the most politically powerful families in England, I carry the weight of twelve votes due to my family acting proxy to the Davis family while you carry the clout of your family and your fame, many of the undecided voters would follow you to get into your good books." Daphne added, just as Susan Bones was sent to Hufflepuff and Terry Boot was called up to the hat.

"And why, oh why would you tell me that?" Jade asked with a small smirk towards the girl.

"Because I want to get into your good books of course." Was the slightly humour filled retort. "Only I known that you would see through all my attempts at cozying up to you so I have to do it the old fashioned way."

"Fair enough. Nice to know when someone wants to manipulate me."

"Manipulate is such an ugly word... I prefer coerce." Greengrass corrected with a small smirk.

At that moment Boot was sorted into Ravenclaw and Mandy Brocklehurst was called up to the stool. "So back to our classmates." Tracey began, trying to get their discussion back on track, only to get interrupted by a yell which sent Mandy to Ravenclaw as a Lavender Brown was brought to the front. "That was a quick one." She muttered before Daphne took over from her.

"Susan Bones is the Half-blood niece of Amelia Bones, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and is the current heir to the Bones family, the twelfth richest family in England. Her family currently has twelve votes on the Wizengamot, seven from her family and five from her Aunts position in the government." Daphne explained before the hat sent Lavender to Gryffindor and McGonagall called Millicent Bulstrode up to the hat. "Brown is a pureblood whose family holds a fairly large stake in the Nimbus Broom Makers. They have no official political power but..."

"Money talks." Jade finished for her as she adjusted herself slightly, Yamato letting out a near imperceptible clink as it moved. "So her family are back seat drivers huh?"

"I'm sorry I don't recognise the phrase." Daphne responded, silently promising to look into the muggle world, her talks with Jade showing her that they were near to discovering the magical society. "But if you mean they are puppeteers then no, they are too light sided for that... but they could be."

"Bulstrode is a pureblood, from a family that was deep in The Dark Lords camp, Death Eaters through and through. They escaped Azkaban through blackmail and bribery and are always pushing anti-muggle agendas at the Wizengamot, they have five votes and are incredibly cosy with the Parkinson Family." Tracey continued as the girl in question was sent to Slytherin and Michael Corner was called forth. "You've already met Goyle and Crabbe, Malfoy's two bookends. They're about as smart as they look and are rumoured to have troll blood. They have six votes between them and are vassals to the Malfoy family."

Throughout the explanation three people were sorted including Crabbe and finally it was Tracey's turn. "Davis Tracey."

"Remember Tracey, aim for Slytherin." Daphne hissed to the girl as she walked up to the stool before sitting down and having the hat lowered over her eyes, where it appeared to have an intense argument with the girl.

"Slytherin." The hat announced after several minutes, sounding quite annoyed by that outcome.

"It probably wanted to put her in Hufflepuff, her loyalty to me is one of her defining traits after all." Daphne explained as Tracey walked away and the next person was called up. "Now to continue, Malfoy is the heir of the Malfoy Family and the second richest person in this school. His family was from France and carried their vast wealth over with them after they were discovered enchanting the King. They have only three votes for themselves but they hold the proxy for the Black and Lestrange Families bringing them up to twenty three votes. They are Death Eaters through and through, only escaping Azkaban through massive bribes."

"He is betrothed to Pansy Parkinson, the first daughter of the Parkinson Family. Another Death Eater family that escaped trial. The Heir is currently her younger brother Franklin and they hold five seats on the Wizengamot. Her brother Franklin is currently promised to Andrea Nott whose brother Theodore is in our year." She continued, ignoring the clapping from another student being sorted. "Theodore Nott is a raised Death Eater, his father escaping all mention due to careful planning and his lack of notoriety. He holds seven votes and is the heir of the family." As she finished the Hermione girl was called forwards who ran forwards eagerly, almost slamming the hat onto her head. "The only other people of interest would be Neville Longbottom, the heir of the Longbottom family and the richest student in the school with ten votes to back him up. But he's a barrel of nerves and is rumoured to be a squib. Ronald Weasley, the sixth son of the poorest Pureblood family in existence and staunch supporters of Dumbledore and Blaise Zabini, the son of Dahlia Burke, a black widow who has married and killed seven different men, taking their fortunes as her own and making them look like perfect accidents or natural causes."

It was at this point that Hermione was sorted and sent to Gryffindor and Daphne was called up to the plate... and almost immediately thrown into Slytherin. Now here she was, bored out of her mind as she waited for her turn to be sorted. She was able to have a giggle when Longbottom ran off with the sorting hat after being placed in Gryffindor and she rolled her eyes when Malfoy was sorted before the hat had even touched his head. But now it was her turn. "Potter Jade"

Whispers immediately sprung up as she walked forwards, everyone craning their neck to look at her. "Is that her?"

"I thought her hair was black?"

"I thought her eyes were green?"

"Where's the scar?"

"What's with the sword?"

Rolling her eyes at the not so whispered inquiries she grabbed the hat from McGonagall's hand and placed it on her own head. 'Ah, your mind is different from everyone elses.' A voice whispered in her ears. 'I don't think I've seen anything like it in my thousand years of service.'

'I aim to please hat. I aim to please.' She responded a smirk appearing at the hats statement.

'But where to put you, that is the question. You have enough courage to taunt a high class demon but... no no, there's no courage here you simply lack fear. You feel no fear for your own life, you lack a sense of mortality.' It puzzled. 'You are smart, you inherited your mother's brain that's for sure, but you won't seek out knowledge for the sake of knowledge.' The hat was feeling fairly annoyed by now, this was harder than he thought it would be. 'You are incredibly loyal but are extremely lazy in everything but demon hunting and you are ambitious but I think most of Slytherin would be maimed by Christmas if I placed you there. Difficult... Very difficult.'

The hall was beginning to become restless as the minutes rolled on, the hat becoming increasingly annoyed as he struggled to make his decision. 'Okay, we've eliminated Slytherin, I'm not endangering all those students...' He mused with a sigh. 'I won't put you in Hufflepuff, you would eat them alive and your habit of skipping lessons will only make you enemies in Ravenclaw... I guess it's a simple case of elimination. Please don't destroy the castle from your place in..."

"GRYFFINDOR!" The hat finally shouted in annoyed triumph, he didn't want to place her through a process of elimination, this was purely a case of she fit slightly better than everywhere else.

"WE'VE GOT POTTER, WE'VE GOT POTTER!" A pair of red headed twins crowed in joy as the Gryffindor table exploded in cheers.

'I don't think they've realised that they've lost the house cup again.' The hat joked before he was pulled from her head by the stern woman who had a slight smile at the result.

"Miss Potter the headmaster would like to talk to you about your...accessories after the feast." McGonagall told her, eyeing the sword and the barely hidden guns. "Welcome to Gryffindor."

Rolling her eyes she stood and began walking down to the table, even as another person was called up. Turning her head slightly she caught the eye of an amused Daphne who rolled her eyes at the over the top celebration.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Potter, welcome to Gryffindor." A ginger haired prefect said to her as she passed, grabbing her hand to shake it before wincing as she squeezed it a little bit too hard. He seemed to take the silent message as he let go of her hand and backed away allowing her to take a seat next to a boy with an Irish accent.

"It's nice to meet you, I hear you're some form of celeb for these people." The boy said as an introduction. "I'm Seamus Finnegan by the way, I'm from Bleary in Ireland."

"Jade Potter." She said, giving the needless introduction. "I'm from Capulet City in America." She informed him, ignoring the eavesdroppers. Adjusting her holsters just in time for the Hufflepuff table to burst into applause. The eavesdroppers fell into hushed whispers as they took in the fact that 'their saviour' was living in America.

"Isn't Capulet the city with a giant demonic tower in the middle of it?" Seamus asked in an excited tone causing several people to blink.

"Isn't Bleary the village with an inactive demonic portal in the centre?" She retorted causing several more eyes to widen and Seamus' grin to grow.

"It's nice to see we're known as far out as Capulet." He noted, voice full of pride for his village.

"What can I say, I grew up listening to various demon hunters talking about various incidents from around the world. Morrison used to mention the Bleary Incident several times whenever he would rant at Dante to be more careful during hunts." Jade added as she slouched down to the table.

"You know Morrison?" Seamus asked with slight awe. "He's famous in Bleary after shutting off the portal thirty years ago."

"Yeah, he acts as my Uncle Dante's job broker, he was too injured to continue hunting after Bleary so he acts as a broker for several different hunters." Jade replied, ignoring the fangasm Seamus was having.

"Zabini Blaise." McGonagall called, drawing attention to the last first year to be sorted.

"Slytherin." The hat almost immediately declared, the boy moving immediately to the silver and green table prompting the ancient, white haired headmaster to stand up to address them, his arms opened wide as if to embrace them all, a wide yet soft smile on his face.

"Welcome!" He began, pausing to allow it to sink in. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words... and here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you."

"Insane old man!" Jade snorted while rolling her eyes.

"He's brilliant, how could you say he's insane?" A random Gryffindor asked her, rather scandalised.

"I didn't say he wasn't brilliant, most powerful people are insane in some way." She retorted before her attention was drawn to the golden plates that were piled high with food, roast beef, roast chicken, roast ham, roast turkey, roast potatoes and... mint humbugs? The hell?

But despite the weird options it was a good feast... not pizza and strawberry sundae good but good all the same. But the truly important part of the meal was the talks with the other students. She learned that there were nine other people in her year, four purebloods, three half-bloods and two muggleborns. There were six girls, including her, and four boys. The girls names were; Hermione Granger, a muggleborn, Lavender Brown, a pureblood, Fay Dunbar, a half-blood, Parvati Patil, a pureblood and Alice Thomas, a half-blood. The boys consisted of Seamus Finnegan, a half-blood, Dean Thomas, a muggleborn, Neville Longbottom, a pureblood and Ron Weasley, a pureblood.

Hermione was a genius girl who had skipped three years of school and was set to skip a forth year before she was offered a place in Hogwarts. She was an incredibly awkward and bossy girl who hated slackers and rule breaking.

Lavender was a girly girl through and through, interested in clothes and make up and everything that came with it. She giggled a lot... it was slightly annoying to her.

Fay Dunbar was a girl who seemed motivated in her life, wanting to follow her mother and father into the Auror Corps, she was a fan of the Holyhead Harpies quidditch team.

Parvati Patil was a girl of Indian descent, one of identical twin girls and completely opposite of her Ravenclaw twin and nearly identical in personality to Lavender Brown, it was going to be annoying.

Alice Thomas was a shy girl, an introvert who took some coaxing to talk, she was raised in the town of Winborne but wasn't a fan of quidditch, despite the successful team the town owned. She didn't know what she wanted to do.

Seamus was raised in Bleary, Ireland with knowledge of demons as a very pertinent threat, he knew so many stories of demon hunters and thought she was cool for being a student demon hunter. He was obviously trained in the basics of combat and openly admitted that he wanted to be a hunter when he was older. He was a funny, nice boy raised by his two parents and always open for a laugh.

Dean Thomas was a muggleborn with no relation to Alice, raised in Manchester he was a fan of Man United and all football in general. He had basic knowledge of magic before Hogwarts but had never really been touched by anything more than a story of a drunk being killed by a demon in the middle of the night.

Neville Longbottom was a very, very shy boy, it took even longer to coax him into speaking than it did Alice. They eventually learned that he was raised by his grandmother for an unexplained reason and that he enjoyed herbology. He was the boy that owned Trevor the toad and was forever losing him.

Finally Ronald Weasley was the second youngest of the Weasley children, the sixth of seven children he was constantly overshadowed by them. If Jade had read him right he had an inferiority complex and hated the fact that he had to make do with second hand books, clothes and equipment. He seemed quite laid back and more than a bit lazy but was quick to make his point of view known... especially in regards to the virtues of quidditch.

Eventually the meal progressed onto dessert and Jade became more and more tired and slightly cranky, causing everyone but Ron to back off... he seemed quite dense. But to her great joy the feast finally ended and after a few warnings that she ignored they were allowed to go to the Gryffindor Common Room... except she was intercepted by McGonagall and led up to the Headmasters office.

"Do we have to do this now? I'm sleepy and cranky, this is not the best time." Jade irritably tried to reason with the woman, her eyes drooping as the heavy meal in her gut made her want to have a food coma.

"Yes we do Miss Potter, we can't have a student walking around school with a dangerous weapon." McGonagall replied with tautly, her mind already preparing for the inevitable blow up by Snape. "Let alone three."

"But I have the rules on my side. I already looked up the rules to allow me to wield them, both Hogwarts and Ministry." She tiredly retorted, giving a large yawn, she may have been awake longer than she had told Daphne and Tracey, it may have been closer to forty hours rather than twenty five... Dante was an ass who decided to play music full blast as he waited for a four a.m. hunt and she may have guzzled coffee for most of that time.

"Be that as it may." McGonagall replied, clearly not believing her. "The headmaster wants to talk to you about more than just the weapons."

"But why can't it wait until morning when I'm not sleepy or cranky?" Jade almost whined only to be interrupted by McGonagall speaking to the gargoyle she was standing in front of.

"Lemon Drop." She intoned before motioning the girl onto the revolving staircase. "Up you go now Miss Potter. I'll be waiting to lead you to the Gryffindor Tower."

"Fine." Jade gritted out, her annoyance almost palpable in the air. "This had better be good..." She muttered as she stepped on the stair and was carried up the spiral staircase toward the office... which was empty, oh joy.

A loud trill drew her attention, proving how tired she was for not noticing the whacking great flaming swan that was sat on a stand off to the side. "A phoenix? At least I know he's not evil." The bird suddenly took off and started to circle her before carefully perching himself on her shoulder, motioning her towards a plush chair by the grand oak and gold inlayed desk, a golden throne, similar to the one in the Great Hall sat on the other side of it.

At least a hundred portraits hung on the walls, containing the headmasters of old, some awake and examining her but the majority were napping... she didn't know that portraits took naps. Vast shelves of ancient, obscure magics sat in ornate bookshelves lining the back walls. The phoenix nudged the her head, urging her forward to the seat before it took off and settled on the seats backrest. "Sure, whatever." She muttered before removing her sword and setting it next to the chair, within reach, and sitting down herself where the phoenix began preening her hair.

"I see you have had the pleasure of meeting Fawkes." A wizened voice sounded from behind her, causing her to turn and spot the headmaster just entering the room, holding the sorting hat loosely in his hand. "Truly amazing creatures phoenixes, when they die they burst into flames and are reborn from the ashes. They are incredibly strong being able to carry up to two hundred times their own body weight. Their tears can heal all but the most fatal of wounds and they have an innate understanding of a persons true nature." He told her, genuinely happy to be teaching someone something. "I apologise for any delay my girl, I had to talk with Terrance here to make sure no one had any problems at home. We were fortunate this year."

"If this is about my weapons I have the rules on my side." Jade blurted out as he moved around the desk, levitating the sorting hat up to his shelf before sitting on his throne.

"I know all about the heir laws, even if they haven't been invoked in two centuries I know of them, no that was just an easily ready excuse to tell Minerva." He assured the girl before grabbing a sweet from the pot on his table. "Lemon drop?"

"No thank you." She said, rejecting the sweet. "If it's not about Yamato then what is this about?" She asked feeling slightly nervous as to the answer.

"I simply have some questions about what happened when you were eight." Dumbledore explained as he sat back in his chair, making himself comfortable. "I had created a powerful set of wards around the Dursleys home to protect you from Voldemort's followers but they failed and you vanished when you were eight and the house was destroyed, I just want to make sure you are safe and, if possible, find out how my wards were subverted."

Jade was silent for several moments as a multitude of emotions crossed her eyes before she sighed. "Your wards may have been designed to protect me from humans but they were little more than a wet paper towel for demons..."

Two Years Ago

Young Jade Potter was a reasonably ordinary girl with lush black hair and deep emerald green eyes that almost shone with intelligence. The only thing marring this image was a lightning bolt shaped scar across her forehead and the shabby second hand clothes she had to wear. She had lived with her Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and Cousin Dudley since the death of her parents and she was relatively certain she was treated unfairly.

She had never known anything else though, she had always slept in the cupboard under the stairs and had always done the majority of the chores. She had always been called freak and had always been fed less and worse food than her family and she was beginning to realize that it wasn't what she deserved.

She was strange, don't get her wrong, strange things happened around her... she once dyed her teachers toupee blue without touching it, but even so she didn't believe she deserved how she was treated. But she would grin and bear it for now, she had no idea how to change it.

But for now she was walking back to Durskatraz, as she had taken to calling it, after school had let out. Dudley was picked up but she had to walk, saying that they didn't want her freakishness to damage the car. It was May, a relatively warm day which made her happy to walk, the sun was shining and birds were singing, as corny as it sounds. But today she was very happy to spend as much time away as she could, Aunt Marge and her new dog Ripper were visiting and she was dreading it.

Marge was bad enough with her old dog Gnasher but a new one had the potential to be even worse. It completely sucked to be her. Alas she had to deal with it.

But it was as she turned into the drive of the house that everything suddenly went crazy, she had alarm bells screaming in her head before the sky began to darken and turn red, a chill went through the spine of everyone who was outside... then the portal opened and all hell broke loose.

Creatures that stood at seven foot tall with spindly wooden limbs, their arms topped with wicked scythes and their bodies clad in medieval minstrels garb (Marionette) poured out, eviscerating the first people they reached. Grim Reaper type monsters (Sin Scythes) flew into the houses, bloodcurdling screams emanating from inside, and finally the beast that drew so much dread was actually rather small, standing five foot seven it was lean, covered in a beetle-like carapace, spikes growing from its shoulders and a long scorpions tail grew from the base of it's spine, striking out to impale any human near it. In its hands was a black and green sword, looking more like a spike it had a carapace over the top half with the blade glowing a sickly green. (Putrid)

"Kill and slaughter, kill and slaughter my minions!" Putrid barked as he stalked forwards, stabbing a downed man as he passed "The more souls we collect the closer we are to reviving Lord Mundus." He yelled before lifting his arm causing silver gemstones to rise from the corpses, shooting into his arm and absorbing into his skin causing his eyes to glow brighter.

Ducking with a scream she narrowly avoided a swing from a Marionette before running between its spindly legs and trying to get to the house, away from the demons. The portal took that occasion to spew out a new batch of demons, they were what could only be described as bats made of living fire (Flambats) which spread around, firing bolts of flame at the houses around them, engulfing the Dursley household in a rapidly growing conflagration.

With a scream she ducked her head slightly and ran, narrowly avoiding an attack by a Sin Scythe and several fire bolts from a Flambat before being sent flying forwards when they exploded behind her allowing several Marionettes to catch up to her, swiftly bearing down on her with a multipronged attack. She couldn't dodge, so she waited for the end with a scream. But a sound similar to steel impacting with water sounded above her as a shield appeared around her deflecting the blades.

"A witch?" Putrid mused to himself. "I'll collect your soul personally." He decided before striding towards her, his tail batting the Marionettes out of his way as he neared her shield. Standing in front of the shield he inspected it for a moment before thrusting it forwards, causing a high pitched screech to sound through the street as the demonic blade battled with the shield. But alas, the shield was only abit of accidental magic created by a scared eight year old with no experience with magic and his blade was forged in the pits of hell by Mundus' best weapon smiths.

The blade plunged through the shield after mere moments, biting into the right side of the girls chest, carrying through her weak frame and embedding itself in the concrete behind her. Her pitiful whimpers turned into a bloodcurdling shriek as the blade was ripped to the side, opening up her chest causing the shriek to slowly fade as she began choking on her own blood. "That shield was stronger than I thought it would be, your soul will be of exceptional valuable to my Lord." Putrid noted before cackling as she tried to crawl away from him. "So you still have a bit of life left in you? I'll fix that." He noted before plunging his blade into the girls heart pinning her to the floor.

The flames cackling around the street suddenly dispersed in a pulse of energy and the demons all turned as one, looking at the girl, the humans taking the opportunity to escape. "What is this magic?" Putrid asked as another pulse was released followed by a foul, decidedly masculine scream.

Another pulse of power poured from the girl, this one visible to the naked eye that was so bright Putrid had to turn away for a moment but when he looked back the girl was standing, the sword still embedded in her heart, her hair covering her face.

The scream faded as the girl straightened her head, her hair falling to the side and revealing a foul, black gemstone fragment floating away from her scar, the scar snapping shut and vanishing before everyone's eyes. Her eyes were slowly fading from emerald green to icy blue as her black hair turned white, spreading as if an egg was cracked over her head, starting at her crown. Her muscles seemed to expand before contracting back in to form sleek muscles, far stronger than they appeared. Slowly her arm raised up to the blade in her chest before ripping it out in one motion, the wound healing flawlessly within a split second.

"This scent, its..." Putrid sniffed before swallowing and letting out a snarl. "Sparda! She's a Sparda spawn! Kill her now!" He spat, causing a group of Marionettes to charge towards her leaping into the air to drop down on her even as an engine suddenly sounded as it closed in.

The Marionettes were intercepted by a red motorcycle, a 1974 Ducati 750 Supersport to be exact, which crashed into the demons crushing them as it landed. The rider was wearing red and black leathers with a red full face helmet, a giant black rocket launcher with a big bayonet was slung over her back with a pair of submachine guns were slung over the bikes saddle. "Okay... Dante will have this added to his bill, he never said anything about any kids." She said as she flipped up the visor and looked at the girl who was swaying on her feet. "I'll deal with this in a minute." She decided before pulling out the SMG's and opening up on the demons.

Putrid was annoyed now, a spawn of Sparda and the Priestess' descendant had both appeared and his raid was being destroyed. It was time to go... or at least it should have been. Searing pain burst through his chest as his blade exited his chest, piercing through the small gap in his carapace before it was ripped to the side... "Die!" The now white haired girl spat between pants before twisting the blade and pulling it out, Putrid turning to ash as he fell and all the silver gemstones releasing and floating away.

The portal suddenly began to pulse before collapsing in on itself and vanishing the world almost clearing up instantly, the red sky turning blue and the sound of human screams petered out... mostly. The loud repeated cracks of the SMG's began to disappear as the demons were picked off by the woman, they were only lesser demons after all.

But Jade never noticed any of that, she was flagging, barely standing. The sword dropped from her hand as it became too heavy for her weakening arm, her eyes growing heavy as she swayed and eventually she fell, her world faded to the sound of gunfire.

Present day

"When I woke Lady was standing by the bed I was placed in, I had apparently gone through a magical awakening and was related to her friend, so with the Dursleys dead I was placed with him. We eventually found my Mothers diary, it was in a trunk I found in the attic of the Dursleys house, and confirmed that Dante's brother Vergil was my father." Jade explained, yawning deeply as she finished. "I also found out recently that I have a brother, who knew huh?"

"Yes... who knew." Muttered mostly to himself with a far off look. "Did you say a black fragment rose from your scar when you... awoke?"

"Yep." Jade replied, popping the p, too tired to care. "Why does that mat...ter?" She asked, yawning mid word, the chair suddenly feeling extra comfy, her eyes drooping.

"It confirms part of a theory I had a decade ago... I'm glad the other part was wrong." He said, muttering the last part before focusing on the girl and letting out a chuckle.

The temptation to sleep was apparently too much for her and she had dropped off as Dumbledore was talking. "My dear girl." He chuckled with a shake of his head before taking out his wand and levitating her and her sword. "You've helped settle an old mans heart tonight but I think you'll do better in your own bed." With a swish of his wand the girl began floating behind him as he walked to the stairs, trying not to disturb her, she needed her sleep after all, she had a busy day ahead of her.
