Grandma Emma and Grandpa Killian!

Three Years Later

Emma paced the waiting room nervously, twining a curl between her fingers. She'd been finding more and more silver in her hair now that she was nearing fifty and she was surprised that rather than dreading it, she was enjoying aging. That probably had to do with the man who was pacing on the other side of the waiting room. He'd turned fifty this year.

Growing old together was not nearly as terrifying as she thought it would be when she was twenty-five and fleeing Texas with her seven-year old son. She'd rather enjoyed the aging process and that was all because of Killian. Through having a second child, to teaching Henry and Liam to drive, watching Henry get married, knowing that Liam was on track for medical school, all of it was just better with Killian. She hadn't been alone in quite some time. And now they were getting ready to meet another milestone. . . Their first grandbaby.

Emma had been in the room with Grace, Henry, Zelena and Jefferson at first, but there were just too many people, so ultimately she joined Killian in the waiting room with everyone else. Now that she wasn't in there watching the play-by-play she was left worrying about Grace and Henry and the baby.

"Okay you two," Regina let out a groan, "can you please stop pacing. You're both starting to make me nauseous."

"Stop whining." Emma snapped, "You're fine. I'm freaking out here. What if something goes wrong? What if"

"Mom, stop freaking out. Grace will be fine. The baby will be fine." Liam yawned and stretched, running his fingers through Rachel's hair as she snuggled against him. "You did this twice, there's no reason Grace can't and"

"Because I did this I know the risks and"

"Okay, love," Killian stepped in front of her, "now I'm going to cut in. They're going to be fine. The baby will be fine." He tugged his wife of twenty-one years into his chest. "I don't know why you're so worried."

"Because I'm going to be a grandmother!" She shrieked, "I'm not even fifty yet and"

"And Henry is a grown lad. Been married for three years and everything." Killian teased. When Emma's eyes narrowed he realized his mistake, "Okay, okay, calm down, Swan. Just because you're a going to be a grandparent does not mean you're old. What it means is that you have a baby to play with that you can give back when she starts crying or when you're tired. You don't ever have to say no or discipline the little lass. We simply get to spoil her rotten and then hand her back to her parents when she's being difficult." He tugged on one of her curls (they were now shoulder length, rather than falling all the way down her back), "And for the record, fifty is not old. I'm fifty."

Emma snorted, "Fifty with lots of gray hair." He still kept his hair on the longer side, which she loved. She loved the way it fell over his forehead and into his eyes and that she could tug at it whenever she pleased. Reaching up, she carded her fingers through it. There was quite a bit of gray woven in with the black.

"You're trying to abuse your husband. It's not good form, milady." He growled lowly.

Liam let out a groan, "Can you two please not be disgusting and in love for like five minutes?" He asked.

"He's right, it's still just as nauseating as ever." Regina quipped from her chair, not even looking up from the magazine she was flipping through.

"We love you too, your highness." Killian bowed slightly.

"Not the mayor anymore, Jones." She answered, "Haven't been for a while." Regina had stepped down years ago, instead she ran for the state senate seat, "As your senator, I prefer your majesty."

Emma snickered into Killian's shoulder, burying her head in his chest and breathing deeply. There was still something calming about him even after all these years. There was a feeling of rightness in the world when he was around, a feeling of safety and home that she thought may start to dissipate over time, but had only gotten stronger.

"Mr. Jones? Mrs. Jones?" A young nurse popped her head in the room, "She's here." Emma grinned, tugging on Killian's hand, "Come on, let's go meet our granddaughter."

Liam watched as his parents all but sprinted from the room, "Think they'll be this nervous when we have a baby?" He asked Rachel.

Her eyes few open and she shook her head, "No babies yet." Rachel, Victor and Ruby all ordered in unison.

Liam blinked at everyone, "Just yet, not never, right?"

Rachel's face softened considerably, "Right, one day, but not now." She murmured.

"Oh my god, I'm too young and too hot to be a grandmother." Ruby moaned, dramatically throwing herself onto Victor's lap.

Victor laughed loudly, "You are very hot, Rub." He agreed, his eyebrow raising and his voice dropping.

"Gross! Why do you old people have to be so gross?" Rachel mumbled.

Emma tapped on the door of Grace's room, "Knock, knock." She murmured as she pushed the door open. Her heart nearly stopped at the scene in front of her. Henry was perched on the edge of the bed, pressing a kiss to Grace's temple while he gently stroked their daughter's arm. It was the exact position she and Killian had been in once they'd been handed Liam. "Oh Henry," she sighed, "you have a baby."

Henry looked up from his daughter, his eyes connecting with his mother's. "I have a baby." He murmured.

"We've decided on a name." Grace's eyes shone up at her father, "Catherine. Like after Mom."

"I love it." Jefferson swallowed back tears. "Congratulations, sweetheart. I'm so proud of you." He pressed a kiss to his daughter's head. He looked up at Emma, "I had no idea when the two of you set foot on that playground that I was going to share a grandbaby with you."

Emma crossed the small room and took Jefferson's hand, "I think we did a pretty good job, don't you?"

He squeezed her hand back, "Yeah, I think we did." They'd both gone through some pivotal parental moments alone, they understood each other as parents on a different level. And Emma would be forever grateful that Henry and Grace became best friends. She couldn't ask for a better wife for her son.

"Can I hold her?" Emma asked, holding her arms out as Grace nodded. Emma carefully cradled her granddaughter into her chest, "Hi, Catherine. I'm your grandma and this is your grandpa." She stepped back into Killian's arms, smiling up at him as he ran his fingers over her arm. "You're in for a wild ride with this crew." She chuckled. As if on cue the door flew open, with Rachel and Alexandra tripping over themselves to get inside to see the baby first.

"Wild ride does not begin to cut it, Swan." Killian rolled his eyes as all of the kids bombarded Henry and Grace with questions about child birth. He snorted and continued, "In fact, I would say it's a vast understatement."
