[Meiko Sakine]: Bloom

As the days pass by and our project progresses, I realize how close we are to the very end. March turned to April before I knew it, and the air smelt sweet and the ground was green. I was singing to Kaito beneath a cherry blossom tree as we continued to work on our science project.

"I have to say: these results embarrass me," Kaito mumbles sheepishly, pink dusting his pale cheeks.

"Why ever is that so?" I tease, snatching the paper from the blue-haired boy's hands. I take a look at the paper, and my face turns red at the results.

Each time it was I who was singing, Kaito's heart rate was recorded the fastest.

"I just, r-really love your voice, y'know?" Kaito stammers. "I definitely think you should sing more..."

I simply give a slight chuckle at that. "I don't think I'm all that great, so I always figure, why sing anyways?" I tuck a piece of hair behind my ear.

"Who ever said you had to be good to sing?" Kaito demands, crossing his arms with a very stubborn air about him. "All you have to do is enjoy it, and the same goes with different things, like drawing, or writing, or-"

"Okay okay, I get it!" I laugh. "Geez, Kaito, I never knew you had it in you to get so worked up that way!"

"W-well, the point is, you decide whether you're going to sing, or stay painfully silent," Kaito concludes. My grin vanishes and a lump replaces the laughter bubbling in my throat.

And a whole new feeling bubbles in my heart.
