Give me a hand,

When the world is dark,

When I'm not myself,

When my soul is black.

-My world is so bleak.-

I need your grip,

Hold me to reality,

Point me to what is right,

Save me from the abyss.

-Memories so empty.-

Just give me a hand,

So I'll know you're there,

To pull me back up,

To stay by my side.

-Emotion is foreign.-

Lend me your voice,

To kindle the past,

Waken afresh the person I was,

To keep me from falling,

Again.

-My being was stolen.-

Not by action,

Or by choice,

Did I sink so low.

-And winter's breath.-

But give me your hand,

And the choice will be mine.

-Replaced my own.-

To find myself,

Reverse the poison,

And to be me.

/...But to you...

...I am.../

-No longer a puppet.-

All I need is your hand.

-No longer a slave.-

/...I am...

...Your friend.../

My friend.

A/N: It's been a while since I felt motivated to write poetry. And in a way, this poem can relate to several of my favorite characters, but it's mostly geared towards the Winter Soldier.

For anyone not familiar with my poetry, each font type can be read individually as its own (smaller) poem/voice, and below I have broken it down into its simplified version.

Regardless on whether or not you read the second version, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

When the world is dark,

Hold me to reality,

So I'll know you're there,

To kindle the past,

But give me your hand,

All I need is your hand,

My friend.

...

When I'm not myself,

Point me to what is right,

To pull me back up,

Waken afresh the person I was,

Or by choice,

Reverse the poison.

...

When my soul is black,

Save me from the abyss,

Stay by my side,

To keep me from falling,

Again.

Did I sink so low?

My friend?

...

Give me a hand,

I need your grip.

Just give me a hand!

Lend me your voice!

Not by action,

And the choice will be mine,

To find myself,

And to be me,

My friend.

...

My world is so bleak.

Memories so empty.

Emotion is foreign.

My being was stolen.

And winter's breath,

Replaced my own.

But to you,

I am...

No longer a puppet,

No longer a slave.

I am,

Your friend...

My friend.
