"Hinata, why don't you stay here again tonight?" We were eating some more of the curry Kageyama's mom had prepared. The meal had been pretty much silent before this except for the clinking of our spoons. "Then we can leave together, and you won't be late. I don't want to have to wait for you again like that one time."

"That wasn't my fault. I told you Natsu hid all my volleyball stuff because she didn't want me to go." I corrected him around a spoon of spicy curry.

"That's not the point, dumbass" Kageyama paused to point his spoon at me before turning back to his bowl.

"You're the dumbass" I muttered quietly. Kageyama opened his mouth to say something back but I cut him off. "Yeah, I guess I could stay. But would that be alright? It's Friday so doesn't that mean your mom is coming home."

"Yeah, it'll be fine. She'll be back late anyway." Kageyama looked down at his bowl and I noticed something flash across his face.

"Speaking of Moms, I haven't called mine yet."

"You haven't told her that you ran into that pole?"

"Yep"

"Hinata you dumbass. Go call her now! Why didn't you do this yesterday?" Kageyama seemed upset. He pulled my empty bowl away from me before I could object.

"Wait Kageyama, I want more" I tried to reach across the table to grab the bowl back from him. He quickly pulled it out of my reach.

"No, you ate it all. Anyway, you need to call your mom."

I pouted as my bowl was carried to the kitchen sink and rinsed. Why did Kageyama care if I called my mom? Whatever. I pulled my cell phone from my pocket and walked into the living room to call my mom.

Kageyama and I were sitting on his bedroom floor, curry resting heavy in our stomachs causing our eyelids to droop over our unfinished homework. Thump. The sudden noise sent a vibration through the small table. My eyes snapped open and looked towards the head now snoring atop the table.

As I watched Kageyama's soft breaths curl the corner of his homework sheet I thought back to the call to my mother. She had reacted just the way I had expected. I had to convince her a number of times that I wasn't going to die and there was no need for her to come home on the next train. The only way I could convince her that I was fine was to tell her that I was staying with Kageyama and that his mom was keeping an eye on me. Only partially untrue. I guess I could understand why Kageyama was no upset that I didn't call my mom, I didn't expect him to think about something like that. The feelings of other people aren't something that Kageyama thinks about, or so I thought. Maybe he does give a shit about more than volleyball and being a dick.

I was already bathed, thinking about whether or not I should even bother trying to get some more homework done when Hinata suddenly burst through the door. He had a towel wrapped around his midsection but was, otherwise, completely naked. "Kageyama, I don't have any underwear."

There was a moment of silence as I ripped my eyes away from Hinata's bare form and looked at his face. I felt the heat rising in my cheeks. "What the fuck am I supposed to do about that, dumbass?!"

"I don't know. Let me borrow a pair of yours?" he yelled back.

"NO! Like hell, you're going to wear my underwear."

"But Kageyama" Hinata pleaded. "What am I supposed to wear?"

"IDK idiot. It sounds like a personal problem to me. Just finish your bath. I'm going to bed."

Hinata huffed and crossed his arms over his bare chest. I tried to keep my eyes from wondering. "Fine then, Bakageyama. I'll just go without in the sweatpants you let me borrow."

A flood of unwelcomed ideas began to form in my head and I quickly interrupted Hinata. "FINE… But what do you think we should do?"

"We have to go to my house to get them."

"Okay. You can go. Put some clothes on first."

"I-I can't."

"Why the hell not?"

"Well, I may or may not have dropped them in the bath.

"What the fuck Hinata?!"

"I'm sorry! It was an accident."

There was a moment of silence. "Then put on the clothes I gave you to sleep in, dumbass"

"I DON'T HAVE ANY UNDERWEAR STUPID. And unless you want me rubbing my balls against your pants, I can't do that."

"GAHH! Put on a shirt at least."

"Fine." Hinata pouted.

"Fine" I mocked.

Hinata huffed before turning from the room and running down the hall. What the hell was he thinking? I tried to clear my head of the image of Hinata, but it wouldn't go away.

There was a pattering of feet coming towards my room. Hinata pushed the door open, my sweater covering his chest. "Alright, let's go."

"Wait, I don't want to go with you." There was no way I was going to go with him.

"Kageyama, please. I don't want to go by myself."

"Are you too scared," I teased.

"Shut up, Bakageyama. What if I get attacked by a pervert or a serial killer and can't play tomorrow? What if I slip and run into another light pole again and die of bleeding in the brain because no one was with me to help me." Hinata looked so scared I couldn't help but laugh.

"First of all, you would need a brain for it to bleed."

"Stupid Kageyama, that's not the point. What if a fox or a ghost attacks me as I'm walking down the road to my house? Please Kageyama."

"That would never happen."

"Please."

It was the desperation in Hinata's voice and the cute pout of his lips that made me agree. I threw my pillow at him and stood up. "Fine, dumbass, but you own me pork buns for a week." Hinata gawked but otherwise made no comment. Hinata quickly sprinted back to the bathroom to put a shirt and I took the free moment run my hand through my hair in exasperation before changing out of my pajama's. Hinata soon returned with the towel around his waist and the shirt I gave him to sleep in. I tried to not think about the exposed shoulder or the precariousness of the towel but failed. We soon made our way out.

We were more than halfway to Hinata's house with little incident. Other than a few sudden rustles or unexpected barks we hadn't run into any issues. We talked about quicks and volleyball the whole way, Hinata barely pausing to breathe but this was normal, so we fell into a comfortable rhythm. We reach a small park. It looked eerie in the darkness, but we paid it little attention until Hinata stopped talking staring at a slide in the distance.

I looked at him, a hand clutching the towel around his waist, then at the pair of eyes staring from under the slide. A low growl rumbled through the little park as they form of a large, matted dog crawled from the shadows. Hinata's body tensed and I looked to him as he paled. He took a jerky step back and the air froze. The dog fur rose, and the crinkle of his snout deepened as he flashed his yellow teeth in the moonlight.

In a second, we were running full force through trees and garden, the dog snapping at us as Hinata periodically let out little whimpers. I looked for a rock or a stick to ward off the rabid dog but couldn't find anything. As turned a corner though I noticed a solid wood fence. I grabbed Hinata's arm and pulled him towards the fence. Without a word I grabbed his waist and lifted him to climb over the fence. Once perched at the top he let out his arm to pull me up. I was nearly to the top when the wretched beast took a bite at my leg and managed to get a chunk of my sweatpants. I screamed, trying to kick my leg free, I could faintly register Hinata screaming next to me. I gave another kick and the dog fell with a small yap. Hinata grabbed handfuls of my shirt as he pulled me up and over the wooden fence. We fell with a painful thud onto a small set of bushes.

We laid in the dirt for a moment breathing heavy, the dog barking and clawing at the other side of the fence. Once I was able to think again, I scrambled to check Hinata for injury. He was laying very still next to me staring blankly at the sky above us. My body froze for a second before a sharp breath came from his open mouth followed by another and then a full stream up laughter. I looked at him confused before a second joining in too. Hinata sat up slowly his laughter dying out. And we took a moment to look around at the yard around us. That's when we noticed the couple staring at us.

As luck would have it (and the authors malicious intent) we happened to fall into an occupied backyard. It was well after eleven at night. The moon was bright, lighting up the enclosed backyard with the aid of a small campfire. The eyes that stared at us were not unfamiliar. I don't know if it was a relief or not.

Kageyama's laugh died seconds after mine did. I looked at his face just as amusement was replaced by a flash of recognition then dread. His body stiffed next to mine as he sucked in a small gasp. I'm sure my face looked much the same.

In front of us was a set of surprised almost afraid eyes and a set already cracking with amusement. Asahi and Nishinoya.

Actually, all we could really see was the mass of Asahi sitting in a metal lawn chair by the fire. Nishinoya's face seemed to pop out of what seemed to be Asahi's never-ending form. Nishinoya's laugh greeted us first and I was a little comforted by the familiar sound. He laughed so hard he started to gasp. I looked Kageyama for some direction on what to do but his face was beet red.

With some creaking from the metal chair Nishinoya climbed from his perch atop Asahi.

"It's a good thing your family are heavy sleepers, Asahi, otherwise these intruders would have woken up the whole house." Nishinoya wheezed with laughter. "And it's a good thing we weren't any further before we were so rudely interrupted." He wasn't making any sense and I looked to Kageyama for some explanation, but he was staring very intently at the ground. I pulled myself from the ground wincing as the mulch dug into my bare knees. Nishinoya stepped closer offering me a hand as I patted off the mulch clinging to the towel. I blushed realizing how we weird we must look right now.

"Hey Nishinoya-senpai, we-we were just trying to get some clothes from my house cause I'm staying at Kageyama's right now cause my mom's not home and because my head isn't very good right now and Suga says its probably best for me to be watched." Kageyama stands too as I try to explain the night's happenings. "and well- I need to get clothes because mine got all wet and Kageyama said I couldn't borrow his pants without any underwear underneath, so we decided to go to my house to get some. But as we were passing the park over there this crazy rabid dog started chasing us and I told Kageyama that's what would happen but he didn't believe me but we decided to climb this fence and we are kind of glad this happened to be your place and not some total strangers but what were you doing before we got here? Why were you on top of Asahi? Were you fighting? Or-"

A sharp elbow in my side got me to shut up. I was out of breath and blushing as I looked at the bemused smirk on Nishinoya's face.

"That's my neighbors' dog, he's not rabid my neighbor just trained him to be a jerk," Nishinoya explained as he led us over to the fire were Asahi still sat seeming to sink into himself. He seemed even more bashful than ever. As I got closer, I could see his face better. He looked mortified; his hair was pulled loose from his bun; his hands were squeezing his shirt closed.

"What were you guys doing?" I tried to ask again but I received another pointy elbow into my side.

"Shut up, dumbass," growled Kageyama.

"You're the dumbass, stupid Kageyama." I swung my arm at his shoulder, but he easily stepped aside.

Nishinoya pulled up seats for each of us and we all settled near the fire. It wasn't all that cold out, but the flame was comforting. As we sat the silence became suffocating. The time seemed to tick by as we watched the spark pop out of the wood. I looked around the circle for something to say but everyone else had their eyes glued to the flames.

Strangely it was Asahi who broke the silence. "Why didn't you guys just wash the clothes?"

The resulting silence was physically painful. Nishinoya exploded into laughter for the second time that night. He doubled over, slapping his knee over and over. My face burned as I saw a tear leak from his eye. I didn't want to look at Kageyama, I'm knee he was pissed. He let out a sharp sigh that sent ice through me.

Nishinoya's laughter calmed enough that he could speak, "Hinata I can't believe you walked across town in a towel. You have got to be kidding me. I can't wait to tell Tanaka. He's going to piss himself for real. I wish I had gotten that all on camera." He was arrested by another bought of laughter. "Just, hahaha, Wash th – the clothes. Oh my god."

I could feel my whole body begin to burn from the embarrassment. "Please don't tell Tanaka-sempai."

"Oh, dear little kohai, I'm tell the whole team." Nishinoya giggled again as he settled into the set sighing. "There's no way I would miss this opportunity."

I groaned at the thought and finally looked at Kageyama. He looked just as I expected. His lips were pinched, and brows cut fiercely over his eyes shadowing their colors. He didn't look up and I didn't want him to.

Nishinoya and Asahi talked a little amongst themselves while Kageyama and I spiraled in our world of stupidity. After some time, I felt my eyelids getting heavy as I watched the fire turn into embers. I knew it was getting late and we still had to get me some underwear. I slowly stood up grabbing tight to the towel wrapped around my torso.

"I think we need to head back," I looked over at Kageyama and he simply nodded staring at the fire embers.

Nishinoya jumped up grabbing my arm, "Oh wait. Let me get you some clothes. I've got some extra in Asahi's room." I looked to Asahi as he nodded, his face beginning to blush again.

Nishinoya pulled me through the sliding doors of the house and up a flight of stairs. Flicking on the lights of what must have been Asahi's bedroom I found just what I expected. The room was neat and covered in volleyball gear and workout equipment. Everything was put away except for the things that were obviously Nishinoya's.

"Does Asahi knit?" I asked spotting a basket of yard sitting next to the bed.

Nishinoya looked up from the draw he was digging in and nodded. "Yeah, his mom taught him. He says it calms him down when he is stressed. They've got a whole sewing room set up downstairs. It's kinda cool." I nodded in agreement as he went back to ruffling through the drawer.

After another moment of sifting, Nishinoya pulled out a green pair of boxers and a set of sweats. He handed them to me before turning his back, letting me dress in semi-privacy.

"Hey, Hinata. Can you promise me something?" Nishinoya's voice sounded serious and I nodded before telling him yes. "Can you not tell the team about what you saw earlier?"

I felt my brow crinkle. "I thought you said that you were going to tell them."

"No, I mean Asahi and me. Don't tell them you saw us kissing."

I balked and tripped trying to put my leg into the pants. "Kissing?! Is that what you were doing? I thought you guys were fighting or something."

Nishinoya turned around to me heaped on the floor. "You really are stupid, aren't you?"

"No, I'm not!"

"Yes, you are." Nishinoya offered me a hand and pulled me up. "Asahi and I are dating but he doesn't feel ready to tell the team yet. Can you, please, not tell anyone what you saw?"

I nodded again, completely confused. "Good, now pull up your pants, dude, you look ridiculous."

I was still struck silent as Nishinoya walked me back downstairs. He grabbed a set of keys as he went and a couple of bottles of tea.

Outside Kageyama and Asahi were sitting in silence the coals of the fire nearly completely out. The air was awkward as we walked up the them and neither of them would make eye contact.

"Asahi, think fast." Nishinoya tossed him the set of keys and a bottle of tea before tossed a tea to Kageyama and me.

"Why did you give me the car keys?" Asahi looked confused so Nishinoya walked up to him before grabbing his arm and pulling me up.

"You're going to drive them home, of course." Next to Asahi senpai looked so small. I couldn't believe they were a couple. They're so different.

"No, I'm not, Noya." Asahi sounded firm but we all knew he would buckle, Noya especially.

"Wait you can drive Asahi-san?" I couldn't help but ask, "that's so cool!"

"Yeah, his dad made him learn when he turned eighteen." Asahi looked grateful for Noya's explanation. And after just a little more prodding he agreed to drive Kageyama and me home.

Asahi sprinkled a little water on the nearly dead embers, and we all made our way to the car. Nishinoya bounced into the front seat and Kageyama and I climbed silently into the back. Kageyama still seemed angry or maybe it was embarrassment. He wouldn't make eye contact with me at all.

This was going to be awkward once we got back.
