I know, I know. Some of you may be wondering why I haven't written more for this fic but published new stories. I'll be honest, it was lack of interest. I know, don't glare at me! Here's a new chapter (Hallelujah!) Enjoy it!!!

Lightning had just reached his twenty first birthday. Which was today. Everyone was dotting over him, babying him and while he was grateful for the attention, he still wanted some time to himself and burn off some steam in Route 66 without Sheriff knowing about it.

He raced up to 175 miles per hour, a new record he was satisfied with. But around the time he had to race back home, he spotted a car. He held his gasp of surprise and hid behind a pair of rocks. He looked out and saw one silver blue Porche with the saddest gaze he's ever seen. She was gorgeous, but it saddened him to see someone so pretty look so sad. He waited until she passed by and quietly followed her from a distance. Some might call it creepy, but if you had lived your whole life in a small town without really seeing the outside world or meeting new people, then you will call it curiosity.

"No, no, no...!" He heard her mumble followed by the sound of an empty gas chamber. He heard her sob a little bit. He knew what that felt like, Sheriff had emptied his gas chamber once when he was fifteen. It had not been a pleasant experience.

He slowly made his way towards her. "Need some help, ma'am?"

Judging by her sudden screams, he knew she wasn't happy to see him.

"What do you want!? Get away from me!!!"

"Calm down, miss! I live around here!"

She panted and looked around. "There's nothing here!"

Now he was just getting a bit annoyed with her. "I live ten miles from here, in Radiator Springs." He pinted her towards the small town, that looked really small from a distance.

She panted, her breaths controlled, she was calming down. That's better, he thought.

"I can't drive there! I'm out of gas."

Lightning smiled. "That's alright. I can push you."

For the first time, she smiled at him. "Not to hurt your feelings or sound ungrateful, but I don't even know you. And I refuse to let you touch me."

"Psst." Lightning rolled his eyes. "Understandable. And if I fetch a tow?"

"Well..."

He smiled at her. "I'm Lightning McQueen."

"McQueen? Never heard that last name."

"Something wrong with it?"

"No?"

"Good. That's good." said he. "And you are..." He motioned her with his tire.

"Oh, right! Sally. Sally Carrera."

"Never heard that last name." He smirked.

She glared.

"So, Sally, nice name. Ok, I'm gonna go fetch the tow, can you try to move to the side of the row just in case? I would push you, but you won't let a stranger touch you." He mocked.

Sally rolled her eyes. "I can do it, thank you."

"Ok, I'll be right back." And he took off as fast as he could. A small part of him wanted to leave an impression on the lady.

He speed past the welcome sign where Sheriff, out of all the times, chased him down.

"Stop right there you little delinquent!" Said the old car as he turned on his red and blue lights.

"Sorry, Sheriff! It's an emergency! I need Mater!" Said Lightning as he suddently stopped at his best friend's place.

"Mater, quickly! I need you!" He called as Sheriff stopped next to him and glared at him.

Mater emerged from under a pile of old tires in a rush. "I knew it! I knew you needed me to kick some butt!"

"What? No! It's an emergency!"

"Why? Because you found a pretty lady in the middle of Route 66 that ran out of gas and needs a tow?"

Lightning stared. "How did you-"

"Guesswork. And Tarot cards." One must not forget, Mater was very superstitious.

Sheriff groaned. "Why didn't you say so earlier, kid? Let's go!"

OOO

Sally played with the dirt as she waited for a group of complete strangers to help her. When she looked up, she saw the bright red car speeding towards her faster than any car she's seen. To that, she was quite impressed.

Lightning hit the breaks and released a thick layer of dirt that, unfortunately, covered Sally. She coughed and glared at him.

He gave a nervous laugh. "Sorry. Hehe, I tend to do that a lot by accident. Oh, but don't worry, we have a carwash."

Sally just groaned at being dirty. But that was just her city girl side.

Mater and Sheriff arrived a few minutes later, panting and glaring at Lightning in Sheriff's case. He finally looked at Sally's direction. "Holy Radiator! Miss, this is no place for a car like you! This heat will make your hood overheat and you could possibly faint. Mater hook her up! McQueen, go tell your old man to perpare to receive a patient and-- DON'T SPEED, DAMN IT!!!" But Lightning was already gone and out of earshot.

He sighed and turned to Sally, who Mater was already pulling down the road. "He tends to do that. Gonna give me a hoodattack one of this days."

"I figured." She said.

Mater laughed. "Ah'm just surprised you didn't get one when he spray painted ye back when he was twelve while ye took yer afternoon nap." He sighed with an air of nostalgia. "Memories..."

Sheriff groaned. "Mater, I almost blew a cord that day. Don't remind me."

Mater smiled. "Well, miss!" He spoke to Sally. "Yer gonna love Radiator Springs. We're a bunch'a good folks."

Sally smiled. "I figured that one too."

Mater then directed his attention to Sheriff even though the older car stayed behind to keep Sally company. "So, Sheriff, Ah got ma' best friend a new pair of headlights. What are you getting Lightning today for his birthday?"

Sally looked at the police car. "It's his birthday?"

Sheriff sighed. "Yes." Then he glared into the distance. "I'm getting him to build the new road for being a complete speed delinquent, that's what!"

How was it? Let me know, Review!
