It had been a perfectly normal yet special day for the PAW Patrol.
Today had the been the day where the gang and Ryder went to Alex's school as a request of Alex's teacher, to teach the kids about safety and the importance of the roles each pup plays. The pups were excited, as was Ryder, and as Rubble finished talking, the teacher spoke.
"It was nice of you to stop by Ryder." She said.
"It was no trouble, Mrs. Peterson. The pups love to teach people about safety. Right pups?" The ten year old asked, and the pups howled in agreement. Mrs. Peterson smiled before turning to her class.
"Now class, is there any questions you would like to ask the pups or Ryder?" She asked and when at least five hands appeared in the air, she called out the furthest one of the group. "Yes Mike?"
"I have a question for Chase and Marshall." He said, and the mention pups stood to attention.
"Yes what is it?"
"Hmm...which one do you think is more important in the community, being a fireman or a police officer?" Mike asked, green eyes brighten a little. "Cause I have always wanted to be a police officer or a fireman and I'm not sure which I want to do."
"Oh, that's easy; fireman of course!" Marshall said, a smug look appearing on his face.
"What? No way, being a policeman is more important." Chase said, earning himself a glare from the fire pup.
"Nu-uh, fireman is more important. We save people's lives."
"And what? A policeman can't? All you do is put out fires."
"Fires has toxic fumes, Chase. Carbon monoxide isn't good for a person's lungs, man or dog."
"Neither is lead, which is what a bullet is coated in."
"Guns, Chase?"
"Hey, I risk my neck to protect this town while you're busy climbing trees to save animals."
"So do I! I am literally breathing in fumes I shouldn't be, with a slight chance of suffocating because of it! And if I'm not doing that, I have to face my fear of heights every day because of somebody's pet getting stuck in high places."
At this point, the two were having a staring contest.
"I say policeman is more important."
"Fireman."
"Policeman."
"Fireman."
"Policeman."
"Fireman."
"Policeman."
"OKAY, well thank you for showing up today Ryder!" Mrs. Peterson said, grinning nervously at the ten year old. Ryder took this as a sign to leave and smiled just as nervously back, ignoring the growls coming from both Marshall and Chase.
"Our pleasure. Come on guys." Ryder said as he and the pups began walking out the room, with Marshall and Chase still arguing. Mike looked over at Alex.
"You know, they kind of reminded me of you and Emily, when you two were arguing about who makes a better sandcastle." He said and Alex shrugged his shoulders.
