Author's Note: This is a ridiculously short one-shot, since I didn't know how far I wanted to take it. Nonetheless, I hope you all enjoy it.

'Second female President of the United States, in two consecutive terms.' She liked the ring it held, as if people who used female pronouns around the world had just taken another step towards equality.

President of the United States of America.

She was trying to keep a painfully straight face, like she had always been taught to do - but it didn't feel right, it was a time for celebration, a time for her to really smile, not just a half-hearted smile.

'Youngest ever U.S President at 35 years and 4 months.' She liked the ring that held, too. She was making history, and at noon, the Oval Office would be hers.

"... That I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." The audience burst into applause, pulling Aubrey from her happiness induced daze. Her vice-president had just completed his oath into office, and despite holding a British accent, he was, in fact, an American citizen.

The blonde man nodded at Aubrey, flashing a supportive smile which she subtly returned, now or never. The Chief Justice turned to her, smiling warmly with a Holy Bible resting in his hands.

She stood up, calming her nerves by drowning out any background noise.

"Are you prepared to take the oath?"

She nodded, mentally cursing when a strand of hair fell in front of her face. "I am."

The Chief Justice raised his right hand, an action she copied, "Repeat after me. I do solemnly swear."

"I do solemnly swear."

The Chief Justice continued listing off the oath, "that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States."

Her green eyes blinked several times, "that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States."

"And will, to the best of my ability."

"And will, to the best of my ability,"

The Chief Justice's blue eyes lit up, offering support and happiness, "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

The blonde's breath was deep, savouring the moment where she finally proved herself worthy of holding the Posen name, "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." Even with her gaze fixed straight on the Chief Justice, Aubrey could feel the pride radiating off her wife, who was seated merely metres away from her, the redhead probably smiling widely.

"So help you God?" The Chief Justice wiggled his eyebrows playfully.

Aubrey bit her lip to refrain from rolling her eyes, "so help me God." She hadn't really twigged that she had been sworn in.

"Congratulations," the man allowed a pause, smiling at the woman in front of him, "Ms. President."

The crowd erupted in applause and cheers as the blonde shook hands with the Chief Justice, her lips curling into a smile, the clapping continued as her wife, and the First Lady, did the same. In the distance, she could hear Hail To The Chief begin to play.

It was at exactly 12:05PM on January 20th that she heard that song playing for her.

Aubrey Rose Posen, The President of the United States.
