A/N: Hello all, hope you enjoy the chapter! Before writing this I reread my story and man. I can't wait till I'm finished so I can rewrite the beginning. But I'm still happy with it so that's a good thing. If you enjoy, leave a review.

How many years had it been? Decades? Millennia? Centuries? Perhaps it had only been days. It didn't matter to the ancient mask either way. It had been alive for so long that time had become meaningless. Ever since it had gained consciousness from those damn tribal curses, time seemed to pass by constantly; sometimes as though it had been living the same days over and over and over again. But at least it had some moments of fun to break the monotony of being under lock and key. Besides, who didn't enjoy the occasional attempt to destroy the world? It wasn't its fault that people wanted it to be a catalyst. Although it would admit there was something nice about being desired.
The mask tried to wiggle its spikes, but found its tomb forced it still. It wasn't certain if the sealing magic used on him was flawed by letting it maintain consciousness or if it was an intentional torture. The mask imagined a sigh, wishing for times when it was on fantastical adventures that allowed it some type of freedom. Of course the odd chance of luring in a new host was a small part of its nostalgia.
Part of the mask wished it could escape and wreak havoc on the world once more, while another found its imprisonment a fun new experiment. Why had they never done it before? It made much more sense to hide it away than to carry it around just tempting it to do things. Maybe they realized it was really dumb to let it have freedom. The mask wanted to laugh, an annoying habit it had kept from its favorite host. Oh how much fun that child had been, turning the world into its playground.
But alas it did not last long. Like always, something or someone came along to ruin his fun. Why couldn't they see it was just trying to be itself? What else is a sentient mask brought about by the evil curses of ancient people supposed to do? Give out happy fortunes and tidings to people who visited the perfect sign of ancient magic? Maybe that would have been better. But honestly, it didn't sound like much fun.
The mask shook in excitement. But how did it move? It hadn't been able to move ever since these walls were built around it, trapping it for an eternity. It shook again as a small light shined onto the mask's tendrils.
Oh yes it was finally happening. And what's this? Someone out there is just ripe for the pickings. The perfect kind of host. Power hungry, desire to do his own form of good, and thinking he is so much better than everyone else. Yes that would do. The mask whispered sweet nothings to the man as the walls crumbled around him, giving him sight of a terrifying blonde beast destroying the mask's cage, and a hypnotized bandaged man behind him. It was time for the mask's final part, such simple words it could speak into the man's mind.
'I NEED YOU,' the mask whispered into the man's mind, sending the bandaged man into a mad rush towards the mask. Finally, freedom has come.
Naruto turned and delivered a stiff elbow to Danzo's face, bloodying the man's nose and slamming him to the ground. The bandaged man hissed on the ground, grabbing his face Naruto looked at the man, confused. How did a man who had man who appeared so frail suddenly rush him?
Naruto knelt down to pick up Danzo, but the old man quickly flew through hand seals and blew a fireball into Naruto. The teen growled in pain as his melted skin quickly healed and patted out the flames that threatened to consume his clothes. He kicked the prone Danzo in the side, launching him into the wall with a sickening crunch. He watched as Danzo writhed on the ground in pain.
Assuming the bandaged man was finished, Naruto averted is gaze to the purple mask behind him. The meaty read appendages extending from the mask shivered as he drew near. Naruto brought his fist back to strike the mask. As his fist collided with the mask, a piercing shriek filled the building. Naruto looked at the mask and saw it had no signs of being struck.
Naruto looked at the ground beside him and the shards of the mask. 'If a quick punch does nothing, I guess I'll do what I did to the other masks.' Naruto placed his palm on the mask and started to squeeze. The mask resisted and he heard screams of pain in his mind.
'No! Stop!' The Mask pleaded.
Naruto ignored the mask and continued to squeeze the mask. A sharp pain erupted in his kidney and he looked down, seeing a blade piercing his side. He let go of the mask and turned to face Danzo, who was holding a kunai. Danzo jabbed the knife at Naruto, who grabbed his hand, crushing it and causing the bandaged man to drop the knife. Naruto kneed Danzo in the stomach, forcing him to bend over. Naruto then smashed the old man's face into his knee, shattering the man's face. Finally, Naruto pushed the old man to the ground while picking up the kunai with his left hand and severed the old man's spinal cord.
Covered in Danzo's blood, Naruto grabbed the purple mask once more. He squeezed the mask in the palm of his hand and gritted his teeth at the screams that threatened to destroy his ears. Naruto felt a smile grow on his face as his fingers started to dig into the mask, causing small cracks to form.
'Stop! I can give you whatever you want!' the Mask pleaded. 'Just stop hurting me!'
"There is nothing you can give me," Naruto said as the cracks slowly grew larger. Naruto opened his mouth to speak, but felt himself lifted off the ground. Naruto was thrown away from the mask, but twisted in the air and landed on his feet. He looked at the assailant and his eyes widened and mouth dropped.
Danzo rushed to grab the mask, but was smashed into the wall by a gust of wind. Naruto dashed to the bandaged man and held him by his throat. Naruto looked in the man's one exposed eye and saw it was bloodshot with impossibly narrow pupils. Naruto looked at the mask and back at Danzo. In that short time, Danzo's pupils had turned green, resembling the cursed mask.
"What are you doing to him? How did you make him survive?"
'I did nothing!' The Mask said to Naruto. 'I merely tempted him, I didn't try and save him!'
Naruto waited for the man to stop breathing and struggling. When Danzo had died for the second time, Naruto watched the body. The body stayed on the ground without moving for several minutes. Naruto's attention was drawn as the red mass of tendrils shook. He turned his head and saw Danzo was trying to pry the mask off the wall.
Naruto cursed and grabbed at Danzo and pulled his fist back to himself. "Bring!" he shouted, hoping his spell would work.
Danzo's body crumpled slightly as he flew towards the blonde, who let out a small cheer of success. He threw a punch at Danzo, who was flipped by the force of the strike.
'Gah why am I so weak?' Naruto thought as he stomped the old man's head into the ground, killing him yet again. 'When I fought that orange bastard I was tearing through him like paper.' He looked at the back off his right hand and saw only flesh. He frowned and clenched his fist. 'I can feel the power within me, but it's just not the same.'
He moved back to the mask and gripped it. He looked at the back of his hand, ignoring the pleading from the mask. Gold light poured from his hand as he struggled to continue breaking the mask. He felt the power flow through him as he slowly crushed the mask.
'But why is it so different now?' he thought. His musings were cut short as he was shoved again. He turned and looked at Danzo, annoyed.
"What tricks are you playing?" Naruto yelled at the mask.
'I did nothing!' the Mask said. 'I swear it!'
Naruto growled. 'Maybe I'm caught in a genjutsu.' Naruto kicked Danzo away and started to gather chakra. He blindly guessed if he had the correct amount of chakra, and then let out a terrifying blast of chakra. The wave of energy tore through the building, shaking the walls and causing pieces of the building to start collapsing. Naruto looked over at Danzo, who was slowly standing up.
'I don't get this,' Naruto thought.
'His bandages,' the Mask whispered. 'He must be hiding something.'
Naruto looked at the Mask in shock, and back at the bandaged man. Why would the mask try and help him? At the end of the day, it would be destroyed and nothing the mask did would sway him. He walked over to Danzo and shoved the madman to the ground. Naruto reached towards Danzo's bandages. He may as well check, just in case that mask was right. With a quick motion, he ripped off Danzo's head bandage.
A Sharingan?
Naruto stared into Danzo's Sharingan, his body starting to shake. How did he have a Sharingan? Only Sasuke's family could have it.
And Kakashi-sensei.
His own teacher had a Sharingan implanted in him years ago.
Naruto grabbed Danzo's bandaged hand that was clawing at him like a wild beast. He ripped off the bandage revealing an arm covered in Sharingan eyes.
"What kind of monster are you?" Naruto yelled as he was bathed in a golden light. He brought his fist down upon Danzo, causing the man's chest to explode into the ground.
'And why did that happen now instead of before?' Naruto thought as he turned to face the Mask yet again.
'It's a good thing!' Naruto heard in his mind in his own voice. 'That bastard will get what he deserves.'
Naruto shook his head. 'But first I need answers.' Naruto turned to the mask. 'And get out of my head you blight!'
The red mass of tendrils shuddered as the Mask started to slowly wiggle its spikes. 'I did nothing of the such!'
Naruto growled and turned to grab Danzo. He looked at the man and saw that five of the eyes on his arm had closed.
"What did you do?" Naruto asked Danzo, who ignored the boy's question and wildly charged him. Naruto hissed and allowed Danzo to strike him. He grabbed Danzo's arm and used the man's momentum to force him to the ground.
"Free him from whatever you did to him," Naruto commanded the Mask. The Mask shuddered in response and Naruto heard a groan come from Danzo.
'Huh, I'm surprised that worked,' Naruto thought.
"What, what happened?" Danzo groggily said. Danzo, feeling his arm being grappled, tried to throw Naruto to the ground, but could not move the blonde. Danzo turned to face Naruto, and his eyes widened.
"Why do you have so many Sharingans?" Naruto questioned. Naruto stared at the man who did not respond. A familiar pull came to Naruto's mind, but he resisted.
'It's the only way,' Naruto heard in his own voice. He paused and glared at the mask. He considered the control he had shown within himself and relented, allowing himself to be pulled inward.
He looked around the familiar marble temple, and sat down in his wooden chair in front of the altar. He looked across from the altar and saw the Hokage's office in Konoha, with Danzo sitting at the Hokage's desk dressed in the traditional Hokage robe and hat. Behind Danzo, Naruto could see the familiar sight of Konoha. In between the two rooms, the room and temple mixed together.
Naruto leaned forward and rested his arms on his legs and glared at Danzo.
"You will answer me," Naruto said, causing Danzo to scoff.
Danzo, who was lacking his scars and Sharingans, placed his arms on his desk, hands clasped. "And what makes you think this place will make any difference? Are you planning on siccing the Kyubi on me?"
Naruto shook his head. "No. I'm certain I can easily drag it out of you. This way I just have much more time."
"You may have time, but patience is not a strength of yours," Danzo said. "Knowing you, this will end in an attempt to strike me down, but we are very much separated and you are not a Yamanaka."
Naruto smiled at the man. "If I remember right, you were terrified of me five minutes ago."
Danzo grumbled in return. "Perhaps in a contest of strength you may overpower me; being the demon child you are," Danzo said. He looked around his office and leaned forward towards his opponent. "In this cognitive realm I doubt there is much you could do."
Naruto shrugged at the man. "Perhaps. But let's start with something simple. A choice."
Danzo raised an eyebrow.
Seeing the man's intrigue, Naruto gave a small smile. "You can tell me how you got those sharingan, or I can rip it from you."
Danzo suppressed a shiver. "Such a grand offer from you child," he paused slightly, forcing himself to not taunt the boy. "I will give it some thought. In the meantime, why don't you tell me why you are not in a sewer?"
Naruto's look of shock resulted in a grin from Danzo. "And how would you know about the sewer?"
"I have my sources."
Naruto grunted, displeased with the cryptic man. He turned his head and looked at the empty altar. He leaned back in his chair and smiled. "I just kinda wanted a place that better suits me."
"And you choose a temple? You truly are surprising."
"You don't know the half of it," Naruto said. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "But enough stalling. What is your decision?"
"I suppose I will entertain you," Danzo said through his grin. "I took them from a place where they were no longer being used."
Naruto growled at the man's answer. "Only Sasuke's family can have those eyes, and the last I checked they were all killed. Where would you just happen to find them?"
"I simply took advantage of a situation that would help me protect Konoha," Danzo said. "Would you not do something some may say is foolish in order to protect the home you love?" Seeing Naruto's uncomfortable shift, Danzo continued. "In fact I believe you've done it several times. What makes it so much different for me to do what you did? I was willing to make a sacrifice for the greater good of my people, and I believe you would too. After all, aren't your precious people the most important thing to you?"
"I am nothing like you," Naruto hissed. "I would never sacrifice people like you. I would never steal someone's body for my own gain. I will protect everyone!"
"You don't even know what I did but you pass around judgment," Danzo said. "How can you say what I did was wrong? I simply did what I needed to protect our village, and I would do it all again."
'He's taunting you,' The Mask whispered to Naruto. 'He thinks you are a fool, but I can tell you are much more.'
Naruto took in a sharp breath. 'Hush. After I get out of this situation I am going to break you.'
'But how long will that take? He obviously won't tell you.'
'Do you want me to destroy you faster?' Naruto shifted uncomfortably in his chair. 'Whatever trick you're trying to pull, I won't let happen.'
The mask didn't respond.
Naruto grumbled yet again. 'It has a point,' He thought as he stared at the smug man. 'I am going to have to rip whatever happened from that bastard.' He stared at Danzo and grumbled. 'But how?' The blonde had simply just not planned for his intimidation to fail.
Before frustration could take over, Naruto felt himself be pulled backwards, his chair screeching on the floor. Naruto watched as Danzo's mouth moved, no sound coming from the man who was staring greedily behind the boy. Naruto looked at the altar behind him and saw a brilliant triangle floating above it, casting a bright light. He stood up from his seat and his shadow grew, instantly consuming his altar. The floors turned from a pure white to a dark void. Naruto reached behind him and touched his Triforce. The triangle reacted with a hum and sent the shadow into Danzo's Konoha, darkening the office leaving only Danzo.
Naruto felt his mouth move and the mental realm quaked from the power of his voice.
"Show me your crimes."
Naruto's eyes snapped open and he fell to the rotted wooden floor. He tried to shake his head from the memories that haunted him. Children slaughtering for an opportunity to serve, corpses defiled to give power to a mad man, orders to kill hundreds without a care. All this and more in some grand scheme of protection. Protection that so conveniently gave power to the monster protecting Konoha.
Naruto pushed himself off the ground. How many thousands of families had been destroyed by this man? The inhumane experiments and torture he had done under the excuse of the greater good.
Each step the glowing blonde took shook the ancient building, threatening its collapse. Naruto picked up Danzo, who groaned and attempted to resist him. Naruto grabbed Danzo's through with his glowing right hand and held the man in the air, slowly choking him.
'You don't have to kill him,' Naruto heard from the Mask. 'You can do so much more. You saw what he did.'
'Be quiet, you're next.'
'Listen to me. Death is too kind for this monster. You can make him truly pay, and you already know how.'
Naruto tried to ignore the mask, but his grip loosened.
'Words are not the only method to use your power,' The Mask whispered. 'Immerse yourself, and let your true power follow your will.'
Naruto closed his eyes and found himself touching the golden triangle. A small brown haired child wearing white clothes stood in front of him and suddenly pushed him. Naruto tried to balance himself but fell backwards into the Triforce.
The marble temple faded back into reality as the building slowly collapsed around golden eyed Naruto. Naruto looked at Danzo's Sharingan and growled. This man must have his Sharingan purged.
Danzo let out a blood chilling scream, the Sharingans implanted in his arm and eye bursting into a purple and black flame. A scream emanated from Danzo's right shoulder and a lumpy mass resembling a face fell to the ground. Naruto watched as the man writhed in pain, but it was not enough. The man had destroyed the lives of many with no consequences. It was only right that he suffer as well. Danzo's lone brown eye turned into a solid gold and his body grew limp.
Standing in the rubble of the building, Naruto tossed Danzo to the ground, leaving the man to suffer the lives of those he destroyed.
Naruto's attention was drawn to a red stain that lead to the crushed body of the man he knocked unconscious and frowned. He didn't mean to kill that man.
'You can do so much more if you let this power flow through you,' The Mask said to Naruto. 'It is strong but also dangerous. It is wild and if not properly used, it will lash out.'
Naruto leapt towards the Mask floating behind him and seized it. One last time, he began to crush the Mask.
'Destroying me is a mistake!' the Mask yelled. 'I have done nothing but help you! I am the only one who can teach you!'
Naruto's grip loosened. 'And you are just as much of a monster as he was.'
'Using this power with your emotions is dangerous without a teacher. What if a friend upsets you and you hurt them? How about if you are fighting and you let your power grow too much and destroy everything around you, like how you destroyed this building,' The Mask shook gently in Naruto's hands. 'I am not a monster. I was cursed and made without any control. Unlike them, I didn't have a choice. And despite all of that, you need me to teach you.'
Naruto took a deep breath and frowned. The mask was correct. The old man had passed and there was no one else he could turn too. But was this truly the right choice? Surely he could spend time by himself until he could properly control his power.
But how long would he be away from those he loved and wished to protect? Naruto groaned at his dilemma. Times like these Naruto truly wished he could speak with Jiraiya, he'd know what to do.
'Probably say yes just so he could turn himself invisible to do research,' Naruto thought. With a sad smile Naruto released the Mask, leaving it to float. It seemed harmless, but Naruto's family research showed it was a trickster. However that same research never described the mask as submissive. Perhaps he could keep this threat under check.
Naruto took a deep breath in and felt the ocean that was his power. It washed over him, showing him how small the Mask truly was. What could stand against the power of the goddesses?
Naruto opened his eyes and stared into the mask. "I will allow you to teach me, but know this. One misstep, one threat, you do anything against what I say, I will destroy you."
The Mask tilted itself forward in a mock-nod.
"You will never leave my sight," Naruto said. He paused and smiled at the mask."In fact, you will never leave me."
Naruto reached into his power and threw a beam of light into the Mask, causing it to roar in pain. Naruto gripped the strand of light and pulled it back, affixing the mask to his right thigh, covering his kunai pouch. He felt the Mask try to wiggle, but it was stuck. He gave a small smile and began his walk home.
The Mask was elated.
Sure it may be trapped on this terrifyingly powerful kid, but he could see again! Were trees always that green? Or tall? No. The Mask just wasn't used to being on a leg instead of a face.
The Mask's time was finally here. Not the most ideal situation, but it could definitely work. It never imagined its new friend would be stronger than it, the only other thing stronger than the Mask was still stuck on the moon!
At least the Mask thought it was on the moon. Things had really changed, at least according to the memories of that old man Danzo the Mask had stolen. What is chakra anyways? It seemed like some bastardized form of magic. Whatever it was, it brought the Mask its first bit of freedom in a long time. Sure, it couldn't move, and the blonde brat smelled like noodles, but he had freedom.
How did it smell the child if it didn't have a nose? The mask pondered this development but decided it simply didn't care. It was the least of his concerns. He had a small bit of freedom, even as a captive.
Besides, all those strongly willed people always ended up setting him free.
Always.
With an inner cackle, the Mask began to teach. After all, keeping promises always lowers their guard. And besides, how did this child not know the Mask could be used as a magic focus! A terrifyingly powerful focus at that.
The child was learning surprisingly fast. Perhaps he had a previous teacher? That would explain some of the aptitude the child had shown. Whatever it was, it didn't matter as much as this precious freedom.
Ah freedom. It was times like these the Mask wished it had a mouth so it could smile.
