Elisa Maza, proud detective at the 23rd precinct slowly made her way up the stair entrance. Normally, she would march right into the precinct, ready for whatever the night would bring. However, tonight she barely had the energy to walk. She felt sluggish, her throat was killing her, a massive headache made it hard to concentrate on the simplest of task, she had no appetite and her body ache as though she worked out for 15 hours. It only meant one thing for the detective. She was sick.

'I hate this so much.' Elisa finally made it to the top of the staircase though, the ascend took whatever energy she had. She sluggishly enter the precinct and headed to her desk. Finally, for what seem like an eternity to Elisa she flopped to her chair. She gently lay her head on her desk, hoping it would ease her headache.

'Oh man, my head is killing me. Oh, who am I kidding, my entire body's killing me.' She lifted her head a bit and looked around, 'The place seems quiet enough. Maybe I could take a short nap.' Elisa slowly close her eye, trying to get some rest but it was short lived when Matt, her partner and best friend enter the precinct. With a giant grin on his face and a box on his hand, Matt happily made his way to his desk; which happens to be next to Elisa's.

"Elisa, guess what I got!"

Elisa silently groan to herself. 'Oh great, I totally forgot about Matt. If he sees me this sick he'll force me to go home. And I can't not tonight.' Elisa couldn't afford to leave tonight. She had paperwork to catch up on. Not to mention she hadn't seen her friends, the gargoyles in a long time.

'I promised them I would see them tonight. I don't wanna go back on my word.' With what little energy Elisa had left she sat up, plastered a smile on her face and try to put up a front.

"Hey Matt, what's up? Find something new about the Illuminati?"

"As matter of fact I'm close on discovery the Illuminati's method on controlling the youth." Matt proudly stated.

Elisa raise her eyebrow, "Like what using Britney Spears to brainwash the youth with her music?"

Matt sarcastically laugh, "Ha-ha, no. Although, it does make a lot of sense. Music can be the perfect disguise for the Illuminati could control the youth."

Elisa started to laugh but quickly regraded it. It caused her throat to become agitated making her cough severely. Matt quickly place the box on his desk and his way to Elisa side. He started to rub her back, hoping it will help. It was then Matt notice how pale and flush Elisa's face was.

'Is she sick?' Matt continued to rub her back until her coughing slowly subsided.

"Better?"

Elisa coughed a few more times. "Yeah…*Cough* better….*cough cough* thanks…*cough*"

Matt, of course, wasn't convinced, "Are you sure, cause you look like your sick?"

"What makes you say that *sniff*?"

"Well for one thing your face is pale, your coughing a lot and now." Matt lean over and grab some tissues, "Your nose is running." He handed the tissues over to Elisa. She gladly accepted them as she blew her nose, trying to stop it from running.

"I may not be a doctor but those are the classic sign of an illness my friend."

"Well you're wrong Dr. Matt." Elisa said nasally, "I'm perfectly fine." She lied. 'As long as Matt's convince that's all that matters.'

Deep down, Matt knew she was lying but decided to let it go, at least for know. "Alright as long as you're ok."

Elisa smile, "I am." It was then she notice the box in Matt's desk. "What's with the box?"

"Oh that's right." Matt reached over to his desk and retrieve the box. He open the box to reveal...

"Doughnuts?" Elisa said.

"Yeah, I got a free box of doughnuts at the local bakery. I was there 100th customer." Matt place the box down onto her desk. He happily took out a chocolate covered doughnut; Elisa's favorite.

"Here you go Elisa, your favorite, chocolate. I had to wait a while to get it but it was worth it to see you smile. Eat up."

Elisa nervously smile, 'There's no way I can't eat that. Just smelling it is making me nauseas.' She look up at Matt and his goofy smile, 'But...he did got through the trouble to get it for me.' There was only one thing Elisa could do, eat it. She took the doughnut from Matt's hand.

"That's very sweet of you, Matt. Thank you." Elisa gulp as she took a bite. She quickly swallowed the piece but it didn't stay down. Elisa ran to the nearest trash can and puked. Matt quickly ran to her side, rubbing her back as she continued to throw up. After a few minutes, Elisa lifted her head from the trash can. Matt help Elisa back into her chair. It was then he notice her face became paler than before. Matt placed his hand over Elisa's forehead.

"Elisa you're burning up. That's it I'm taking you home and don't even think about arguing with me."

Elisa shook her head, "I can't leave Matt, there's too much work to do and I promised the guys I would visit them today. It's been so long since I've seen them. I want to make sure there ok." Elisa began coughing hard and even wheezing a few times.

It was Matt's turn to shake his head, "No, Elisa you're very sick. I'm guessing it might be the flu. I'm taking you home right now. I'll talk to the captain and the guys for you ok."

"I don't know..."

"Please Elisa, I want you to get better not worse."

Elisa could hear the concern in his voice. 'He's right I don't want to get any worse.' She gave Matt a small smile,

"Ok Matt you win, I'll go home and rest."

He smiled back, "Good, I'll go talk to the Captain and tell her that you're going home. I'll talk to the guys when I come back." Matt made his way towards the Captain's Office. A few minutes later Matt emerge from the office.

"Alright, we're all good to go. Captain said to take as much time as you need. You ready?" She nodded

"Ok let's go" Matt helped her up, and headed to his car. Once inside Elisa let out an exhausting sigh. Matt couldn't help but feel sorry for his friend.

'Poor thing she must be sicker than I thought.' Matt turned on his car and drove off. Along the way, Elisa fought against her exhaustion. She wanted to say awake as much as possible but she was losing. Halfway through the drive Elisa finally let her exhaustion take over. Twenty minutes later they arrived at Elisa's apartment.

"Elisa we're here." Matt gently shook her to wake her up but it was no use. She was out cold. "You're gonna make me carry you up to your apartment aren't you?" Still no responds.

"Ok then." Matt got out of his car and walked towards Elisa's side. He opened the door, unbuckled her seatbelt, and carefully place her in his arms. Elisa unconsciously wrapped her around his neck and rests her head on his shoulder.

"Goliath, I love it when you carry me." Elisa smiled as she snuggled closely to Matt's neck. Matt tried his best not to laugh out loud. He knew about the bond between her and Goliath. He also had an inkling that there was something more between them. Matt shrugged it off for now as he made his way inside. Taking the elevator to the top floor, he got to her apartment. He quietly opened the door and stepped inside. He decided to place her onto the couch so he could get her bed ready for her. Matt gently touched her forehead again.

"You're really burning up. Maybe there's some medicine in her room." He head towards her room just as Elisa groggily began to wake up.

"Wha-where am I? *cough* *cough* *cough* Oh my head's killing me." Elisa look around, "I'm home." Elisa carefully sat up, holding her head.

"Oh you're awake." Elisa turn to see Matt standing in the hallway, "I just got your bed ready."

He made his way to Elisa. "And in case you're wondering, I carried you home. You were too exhausted to move."

She chuckled, "He-he that out of it huh. *sniff* *sniff* *sneeze*" She grabbed a tissue and blew her nose. "Well, thanks Matt for carrying me. I really appreciate it."

"Yeah, well I appreciate the entertainment you gave me."

"What entertainment?" Elisa asked.

Matt smirk "Nothing too crazy but... let's just say I may've been the one carrying you but in your mind it was a certain special gargoyle."

Elisa's face turn red with embarrassment, "Oh man." She buried her head in her hands. "I can't believe I said that."

Matt laughed at how embarrassed Elisa was, "Hey there's no reason to be embarrassed. It's perfectly nature to think about someone you care for, especially in your dreams." He patted her back in comfort, "Don't worry your secret safe with me."

Elisa lifted her head up and smiled, "Thanks Matt you actually made me feel less embarrassed of myself haha."

"You're welcome, now go to your room and change into your pjs. Call me when you're done so I can give you your medicine."

"Yes dad."

"Ha Ha very funny now go." She laughed as she headed towards her room. Elisa changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top to help cool her body down. She sat up on her bed and brought the sheet up to her waist.

"Ok Matt you can come in now." He walked into her room with the medicine and a glass of water at hand.

"Here you go these pills should help with the fever."

"Thanks" She took the pills and the water. She swallowed the pills along with the water. Matt placed extra pills beside her bed.

"Make sure you take the pills again in four hours ok."

"Don't worry I will."

"And check your temperature later on, too."

Elisa rolled her eyes, "Yes dad."

"Ha-ha cute." Matt sarcastically said, "Is there anything you need before I go?"

She shook her head. "I'm good Matt. I think I'm just going to sleep some more."

"Ok, but try to eat something small once you wake up."

"I'll try." Elisa smile, "Thanks Matt for taking care of me."

Matt return the smile, "No problem."

"Oh, can you tell the guys I'm sorry and I'll make it up to them."

"Don't worry I'm sure the guys will understand." Matt lay Elisa down, "Get some rest." He gave her a small pat on her hand before heading out. Elisa closed her eyes, and quickly fell asleep.
