ME: Time for a more realistic ending to Cargo of Doom.
Sergeant Denal (an experienced veteran of the 501st) and Private Koho (a fresh "shiny" from Kamino) halted when they saw they were at the back of Cad Bane, the most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy with Jango Fett dead.
"What should we do, Sarge?" Koho asked. Since they were using their internal comlinks, the sociopathic Duros could not hear them. But, as a precaution, both men kept their DC-15S carbines aimed at his back just in case.
"I could simply ask him to surrender, therefore putting us at risk if he's somehow faster than a blaster bolt," Denal replied. "You know, instead of simply stunning and cuffing him, which would prevent him from retaliating."
Koho detected the sarcasm. "Maybe we just shoot him dead, sir?"
"Good idea, kid," Denal replied. "On three. One, two..."
Bane smirked at the thought of him being paid for all the death and suffering he had caused throughout the day, only to scream as he was shot twice in the black. Those were the last sensations he ever felt.
"Nice shooting there, Koho," the seasoned NCO complimented. "You got anything on thermal or infrared?"
"Negative, Sarge, and thanks," Koho said. "He's dead."
"Correction: We think he's dead," said Denal. "Stay back and cover me, kid. For all we know he's armored."
The clone Private did as he was ordered, while Denal removed the Duros's hat with the tip of his boot before aiming his sidearm and shooting him twice in the head.
Afterwards, the remaining clone troopers evacuated with the two Jedi officers, General Anakin Skywalker and Commander Ahsoka Tano. As they escaped the dying frigate aboard a stolen Sheathipede-class transport shuttle, Denal and Koho (having boarded last) both took off their helmets after they entered space and began heading back to the Resolute.
"Anything wrong, troopers?" Ahsoka asked.
"Nothing, ma'am," Denal replied. "By the way, here's your braid back." He handed it to her, and she thanked him before taking it back.
"And we also recovered the holocron, sir," Koho added, retrieving it from a case and giving it to Anakin.
"Thank you, Corporal Koho," the Jedi Knight replied.
"Just what happened to Bane, boys?" Captain Rex asked.
Denal dumped open his backpack, which produced the decapitated head of said bounty hunter.
"We think we can confirm his death, sir," Koho stated.
"..."
"Rex, looks like Corporal Koho here should become a combat medic."
"...right, sir."
ME: A/N: This was inspired by both the Karen Traviss novel Republic Commando: True Colors and the fact Denal and Koho died completely unrealistically in my eyes. Anyone who watched the episode will know what I'm talking about, that was just lazy writing. Not exactly the finest moment for TCW.
