There will be more works to come from this episode and the next parts of my works for Slingshot. I will also update Waiting out the Storm, but I think that will be tomorrow now as I haven't quite finished checking it yet and I'm not certain about a part of it, so sorry for those of you waiting for it, but tomorrow it will certainly be up and hopefully the second part to 'Far Away.' Anyway, I hope you enjoy this in the meantime.
"Whoa Scott. We can deal with his later."
Luck. It had been the Professor's luck that Virgil had arrived at that moment and that, by his arriving in that moment, thus managed to relent the force of Scott's anger.
He hadn't been there the second.
Gordon had caught the end of his and the Professor's… discussion. It hadn't taken him too long to figure out what had gone on in Virgil's absence nor what had obviously been missed in his own.
The bruise of the Professor's face said enough.
"I understand Scott, the feeling was mutual, but did you have to punch him?" Virgil queried as he sat down.
"Of course."
John, ever the peacemaker interjected, "I'm sure it could have been avoided."
"I doubt that John," Gordon mumbled.
"I would have done the same if it had been any of you."
"Are you sure it wasn't Lady Penelope that swayed your choice?"
"Be realistic Virgil," Scott answered. "He deserved it."
"This is why none of us could be the eldest," John reasoned. "We're not hands on enough."
"I tried talking, it wasn't working."
"Yes, you tried calling him, what was it? A rat-faced weasel?"
"Who called who a rat-faced weasel?" Alan asked as he entered the living room, his face a mix of confusion and excitement, like he could tell there was an interesting even to be relayed to him, that he had missed some occurrence from Gordon's trip.
"Scott called the Professor it when he arrived."
"Really? Why?" Alan enquired as he sat down next to Gordon who looked over at him.
"He was talking apparently."
"Not really my idea of how you hold a conversation." John stated.
"Well we know what yours is."
"History lessons." Gordon began.
"Bad jokes." Scott added.
"Yes all right, point taken."
After a brief moment of silence, Alan piped up, "I've missed something haven't I?"
"You missed a lot Alan." John replied.
"What was it?" The three middle brothers couldn't help but smile.
"Scott punched the Professor."
It was perfectly explainable. Scott thought it quite right that he be allowed such… privileges.
After all, he was the eldest and as such it was his job to stick up for his brothers.
In any way.
It was his job to do so and it was a reason why he was good at being the eldest.
A reason. There were many.
Yet for this, he hadn't need one.
"We'll deal with it later."
Virgil had been right, Gordon had been the priority then.
So he dealt with it later.
It's nothing special, but hopefully enjoyable. I hope everyone else enjoyed the episode.
