Act 3 - The Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor

Chapter 5: The Third Age of Arda

Story Start.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace… that was Naruto's motto to himself, he heard it from another world, the centre of all, and took it for himself in this world.

He stood atop the foundations of the ruined tower of Barad-dûr as he observed the fractured armies of the alliance prepared for their departure from Mordor. He had told Isildur, who have taken the One Ring for himself and refused to heed any of what he told him to do about the Ring, that he will handle the reorganisation of the Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor upon the deaths of Anarion and High King Elendil.

Círdan, the oldest of the Elves on Middle-Earth led the Elves of Lindon after Gil-galad's death, had told him prior that he had to take the One Ring out of Isildur's possession, even Elrond, who is now one of the leaders of the Elves, had asked him to do so.

But he told them one sentence and left it at that.

The One Ring will find its way back to its own master.

Then he told them, and the rest of the alliance, that this is the beginning of a new age.

The Third Age of the Sun.

"Illuvatar asked you to not meddle more than you already have, is that why you left the Ring to Isildur?" Kaguya asked him as he sat upon a stone cliff from the levelled fortress.

"You know me too well, but I think from this day, I'm just going to watch and fade from history," Naruto replied as he saw his own soldiers made their preparations.

"Isildur will die anyway, of his own doing, and I have no intention of being a part of that, lest everything turn upside down. All that I will do now is to help the Realms of Men get back to their feet."

Naruto removed his helm and placed it beside him while the sun rose over the east as its light broke through the dark clouds that loomed over Mordor, and now its hold over the sky began to wane, for Sauron was no longer present to exert his influence over the weather.

"My Lord!" an officer came to him, from Gondor by his armour.

"The Lord of Mithlond and the High King are waiting for you," the officer said to him, and Naruto dismissed him with a nod.

His eyes darkened ever so slightly when he felt a shift in the wind, but it vanished as it quickly as it appeared, then he stood up and jumped down the cliff below him.

-Line Break-

"Many of Gil-galad's Elves will now pass over the sea, into the west," Círdan said to Naruto as he scratched his beard while the blond lord remained in silence as Isildur approached them.

"Lord Círdan, Lord Naruto," said the King as he came by them.

"Isildur."

"I would like your opinions on the matter rebuilding Morannon and erecting fortresses over the mountains of Mordor to prevent the enemy from gaining a foothold within these lands."

Naruto remained silent for some moment, eyes far away, and in a split of a second, he turned to Isildur.

"You want to close off Udûn and Gorgoroth from each other…"

Círdan the Shipwright seemed to agree with what Isildur had in mind, and gave his support, as well as Naruto.

"Very well, but have the restoration of Minas Ithil be a priority for now since it is more important to have Osgiliath defended properly, for Sauron still have a following in the shadows, scattered yes, but still dangerous," said Naruto and Isildur nodded in agreement.

"Then I shall now oversee the preparations, thank you, my lords." Then Isildur walked away from the two immortal beings.

"The Ring will lead him to his demise," said the Elven lord.

"I know, I saw it. But I digress, now, about the Elves moving over the sea… I've known about it before all of this even existed. Elves were meant to start, and the Men to finish it."

The Shipwright went into deep thought as he remembered something, he needed to tell his old friend.

"A number of them want to join you, several contingents in fact, and if you accept, you could be very well the King of the Elves, as you have commanded all kinds of Elves in existence," praised Cirdan while Naruto shook his head, but the ancient Elven lord continued.

"You lead the light of the Three Kindreds, the martial might of the Calaquendi, the subtleties of the Umanyar, and the darkness of the Moriquendi. Now as we come into the Third Age of the Sun, it will all be the same for you, and for me, I will tarry in Mithlond until all of this is finished, until that Ring is cast from the Crack of Doom."

-Gladden Fields: 2 years later-

When the war ended, Isildur had done what Naruto told him to do and reorganised Gondor and Arnor after he sent the greater part of the men of Arnor back to Eriador through the Númenorean Road from the Fords of Isen to Fornost. With everything completed, he handed the rule of Gondor to Meneldil, Anarion's son, then marched forthwith to Rivendell.

Or rather, that was the intention, for he greatly needed the wisdom of Elrond and Naruto, and that his wife and youngest son was there.

At this moment, Naruto had felt what happened and set himself upon the task of finding them, and that he did, albeit, all he found was a massacre.

An orc noticed him, and he swiftly brought an end to the wretched creature with a single strike with Ringil, then he saw a group of woodsmen came from the forest and scattered the remaining orcs, but they were too late.

Naruto walked further and saw the sons of Isildur lay dead, then he saw Isildur's esquire, alive but injured and with him, the Shards of Narsil wrapped in a white cloth.

"L-Lord Naruto," said the esquire said, albeit weakly.

"Where is Isildur?"

The man only shook his head and Naruto looked around as the squire mended himself from what he could use.

"He's gone, Naruto, and the One Ring with him," Kaguya said while Naruto scanned the area, then he looked down to his own ring and sighed.

"The Elves will grow complacent after this, but the Nazgul are still out there, in the shadows."

"So is Sauron, but without that ring, he'll never get back to his physical form. All we can do now is to prepare for the inevitable future war, your people await your orders."

Kaguya was right, Naruto knew it and he was thankful for her wisdom. Now that the age of Men has come, the Eldar will pass over the sea, so that they may not fade, except for the ones that followed him.

"For in much wisdom, is much grief, and he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow… sometimes, I feel like butter scraped over too much bread."

Naruto felt another man alive amidst the massacre, and he moved over the body of Elendur, one of Isildur's sons and saw another man, unconscious from the blunt blow on his head. The blond recognised the man and it was Elendur's squire, still alive and one of the few men from the 200 Dúnedain that marched from Gondor that survived.

"Ohtar!" He called out to the esquire of Isildur who immediately turned to him.

"My lord?"

"Get Estelmo to safety, you and Glawion. I'll bring you to Rivendell later."

-Imladris-

Elrond hasted to the infirmary when he had received word that Naruto brought the survivors of the attack on Isildur's party, and when he arrived, he saw Naruto on a chair while there were three men being cared for by some elves.

"Lord Naruto," called on the Lord of Imladris and Naruto turned to him.

"Elrond," he returned in kind.

"Have you told Isildur's remaining family?" He asked the Lord of Rivendell whose eyes looked down and shook his head.

Naruto sighed but understood why Elrond had remained in silence, thus he said. "Understandable, the child is very young, but he has to understand that he is king now, that is of Arnor. For Gondor has Meneldil as King, by Isildur's decree."

The golden-haired lord sighed as he gained a faraway look, to the east as Elrond settled in a chair nearby as he observed his people tend to the injured.

"I do understand one thing, Lord Naruto and that is you intend to raise the child in Annúminas."

He remained silent and merely gave the slightest of nods while Elrond noted that it was very wise, with Gondor and Arnor separated, they would have to tread very carefully, for the Elves knew how fickle Men can be.

"Two years past, I told Cirdan that Isildur will die due to the One Ring, and I was right. That ring would only bring ruin in the hands of Men."

"We told him to cast it into the fire," replied Elrond.

"A little too late, he was already enchanted by it. Hence let it be known as Isildur's Bane."
