After Vegeta's success of humiliating Magetta out of the ring and inspiring Cabba to transform into a Super Saiyan, the prince was now facing Universe 6's last opponent. He had gone through three of the five members of the team quicker than anticipated. Yet, the God of Destruction Champa wasn't fazed. He was actually looking quite relaxed as he leaned all the way back into his sofa and draped an arm around the back board.

This didn't go unnoticed by Gohan, whose gaze now fixed on Whis and Beerus.

"Um, excuse me... Whis?" When the humanoid looked at him, the young father pointed a finger at the purple man dressed in a black trench coat that refused to shake his head during the test. He was walking slowly towards Vegeta but stopped where he was instructed to. "What's the deal with this guy It's Champa's last fighter and he's not even breaking a sweat!"

Whis nodded his head, smiling slightly as Vegeta automatically powered up to Super Saiyan blue. He spoke as eloquently as ever over the sound of the lighting bolts surrounding the prince's powerful aura. "He's doing the right thing going full power from the start. His opponent is named Hit, the best fighter and assassin in Universe 6. He takes out his victims in one movement. Hence, the nickname One Hit Hit."

Gohan could feel his neck sweat. He was about to wipe it away with the back of his hand, but a sudden and harsh pat on the Beerus caused him to stumble forward. He almost fell off the platform they were floating on. "This will prove to be an interesting fight for a change! Even if Vegeta fails, there's no way he's losing against you kid!"

The hybrid chuckled, feeling a little more confident now. "Hey, thanks Lord Beerus! That means a-"

His confidence was quickly switched up into fear as Beerus' yellows eyes became slits and his bright white fangs were revealed as he spoke in a clenched whisper. "Because we all know what's going to happen to you if you lose..."

The gong had already been hit to signal the battle, but Vegeta and Hit continued to study each other before making any movement. Gohan swallowed hard after Beerus' threat and was finally able to wipe that sweat off his neck. After doing so, he looked away from the area to speak to Whis again. Bardock's disappearance still wasn't sitting right with him.

He sat down on the comfortable couch right beside the God of Destruction's trainer and cleared his throat. "Sorry to bother you again, Whis, but I have a question."

"Is it about your grandfather?"

Gohan took a deep breath and nodded.

Whis sighed as the fighters in the arena took their stance. Hit went for something narrow while Vegeta opened his body up. "Bardock certainly has found himself in a compromising situation. I've got a feeling he'll find a way to bend time and find his way back to you, at any risky cost. I don't think you should be concerned about his survival unless he gets too cocky to show his true form. But even then..."

Vegeta was insulting Hit's choice of fighting stance, but the assassin remained wordless. Gohan brought his attention back to Whis. "What?"

"I highly doubt any of you understand the seriousness of disturbing history," Whis took a deep breath and shrugged his thin shoulders. He wasn't making eye contact with Gohan anymore. "Whenever Bardock returns to you, don't be surprised when repercussions take place. Nothing good can come from any of this."

The eldest grandson of Bardock took in the trainer's words slowly before standing up from the couch. The tone of his voice made him uneasy, like he knew something deeper than the information he was providing. Gohan knew he wouldn't get any more out of him until Universe 7 came out on top. The father stopped next to Goku and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Dad, do you think Gramps is in trouble?"

"Not in as much trouble as Vegeta!" Goku's eyes had widened, and Gohan followed their direction. Vegeta had somehow ended up face down on the floor, close to the edge of the ring. "Holy crap! I didn't even see Hit move!"

There were murmurs from Universe 7's audience not too far from the fighters' floating platform. The prince had charged up yet again and was planning on sending a strong ki powered blast to the assassin's face, but it resulted in bright purple beams shooting through his chest. Bulma let out a scream while Gohan jumped. It looked like Vegeta had been impaled, but Gohan couldn't detect any holes in his body as the prince laid out on his side.

The flame haired Saiyan spit out some blood before his eyes rolled back in his head. He twitched briefly before coming to a frozen state.

"What...just happened?" Gohan blinked. The assassin was fast. Extremely fast. It looked like he had not moved an inch. "Vegeta lasted two minutes with that guy and... I'm up next!?"

As soon as Hit was pronounced the victor, Goku called out for Krillin to bring him a Senzu bean for his severe injuries. Trunks and Goten were quickly following the former monk to offer water and helping hands. Gohan had jumped for the millionth time when he heard Beerus clear his throat close to his ear. The God of Destruction who had been training him crossed his thin arms over his chest and was talking low enough so his laughing brother wouldn't hear.

"Care running me through that backup plan of yours?"

Gohan released a large sweatdrop and ran his fingers through his spiked up hair. He wasn't sure how well his training with the Z sword would hold up with said sword in his hand, but the additional training with Piccolo might give him ideas for the plan he lied to Beerus about having. He slowly lifted up a peace sign with a shaky hand. "It's a secret?"

The way his voice squeaked caused Beerus to growl. He grabbed Gohan by the collar of his gi and shook him. "You have no idea what's at stake here! My food is gone and I'm humiliated because the Saiyan I trained bites it! You go out there and you end this!"

"Okay," the young adult's voice still high pitched as he looked into the lethal yellow eyes of the God of Destruction. He was starting to become nauseous. "But you gotta put me down..."

With another growl, Beerus dropped him and held up a finger in the direction of the gong he was suppose to hit once Gohan was on the battle floor. "Don't disappoint me."

"Hey!" Goku's cheery voice interrupted the tension and he pounded his sound on the back. "Everything's fine! Once Gohan's knocked out, I'll have a chance to fight him!"

Gohan screwed his eyes to the point they were almost shut when he looked at his father. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dad."

"You're welcome, son!"

"SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON GOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN IS UP NEXT TO REPRESENT UNIVERSE 7! LET'S HEAR IT FOR SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON GOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

Gohan sucked in air through his teeth before descending towards the arena. He could hear his little brother and mom screaming the loudest as he landed and stopped a few feet away from the intimidating assassin. Once Beerus and Champa had hit the gong, Gohan did the unthinkable.

He bowed to his opponent.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" Beerus screamed from the platform as Whis tried to conceal his laughter at the way the god was shaking his fist violently. "IF HE DOESN'T KILL YOU, I WILL!"

Hit didn't looked too amused by the gesture either. He stood in the same narrow stance he was in that took out Vegeta, who was currently recovering on the couch next to Whis. Gohan did his best to not let it phase him.

"It's an honor to fight you, sir. And I'm sorry for what I'm going to do to you."

Bardock watched as the doctor finished tightening up the last spot. He had awakened from an anesthesia induced nap not too long ago. The man was so nice that he didn't even complain it took more than half his supply to knock Bardock out.

"There," the man stuck out his tongue as pushed his glasses up. He took a step back so the Saiyan would have room. "Try moving it."

The Saiyan looked down at his right arm, which was now a long piece of metal that heavily resembled the missing body part. It had wires in the place of veins and fine details of where muscle should be. Bardock breathed out in amazement as he made the fingers wiggle. It felt like a huge piece of him had returned, even though there was no chance of any ki emerging from his mechanical palm.

"This..." Bardock held his hand up to the light and admired it. "...is amazing. Shit, doc, how'd you learn to do this?"

The doctor chuckled as he removed his glasses to wipe the smudge off. After he placed them back on his face, he lifted up his leg to reveal a mechanical prosthetic of his own. "Back when the second war over possession of the Dragon Balls broke out, a lot of men and women came to me to give them back what they lost. I became so good at it that I decided to ditch my old wooden leg and upgrade it."

"War over the Dragon Balls?" Bardock raised an eyebrow in disbelief and then scoffed when the pepper haired man nodded. "Shit, I'm surprised this planet survived as long as it has. Civil War is going to be the least of your worries, trust me."

When the doctor glanced over his shoulder at Gohan, the old man waved him off. "I'll tell you later," he winked and bounced the baby Kakarot in his arms. Surprisingly, the boy awoke with no sign of injury. He was a lot more loving, though. He was smiling right now as he tugged on Gohan's white mustache. "How much do we owe you, Dr. Stubbs?"

"Stubbs?" Bardock snorted. "Was that your name before or after?"

"It's a family name," Dr. Stubbs patted his old friend on the shoulder. He grinned at Kakarot and ruffled his full head of hair. "You know I couldn't possibly charge you after you gave us shelter after the flood. What's the kid's name?"

"Kakarot," Bardock replied shortly as he stood up. The baby was reaching his hands out to Bardock, eager to be held by his new arm. He took him gently from Gohan. They had bought him a small pair of orange shorts and a matching orange shirt they found in Silver Village before entering the doc's office. "But the geezer calls him Goku."

"Goku's a lot better than Carrot," Dr. Stubbs nodded. "By gosh he is your exact twin, Burdock!"

"Yeah, Stumpy, I've heard it all before," Bardock held out his new hand to shake the doctor's with. Kakarot was currently holding onto the back of his neck and chewing on his hair, showing that he was dying of starvation after the long procedure. "You got any good food in this place, doc? The brat's gonna make me go bald."

After giving them the name and location of where to go, Dr. Stubbs said goodbye to the two men and the baby. Bardock continued to move his mechanical arm around and couldn't fight back the grin as he was able to pull on the sleeve of jacket he had borrowed from Gohan. "Shit, I never thought I'd be able to do this again."

The old man smiled as Goku clung to his back. The trio were walking down the cobble road and Gohan was using his walking stick to support himself. They had walked to Silver Village all the way from Mount Paozu by choice but he was really starting to feel it in his legs. "Is it, as you put it, badass as you wanted it to be?"

Bardock chuckled and moved his new arm up and down. "Hell yeah! Thanks for not disappointing me, old timer. Dr. Stubbs back there really knows what he's doing."

"Told ya! " Grandpa Gohan held the door open for his new friend once they came to the restaurant. They were greeted by the scent of freshly prepared ramen, and they inhaled deeply. All three were salivating as they eyed the waitress place the tray on the table of a young couple that had been sitting next to the door. The woman smiled up at the new patrons and moved a strand of dark brown hair behind her pierced ear. She had a mechanical index finger.

"Hi there! Table for two and a high chair?"

Gohan had answered for them with a polite nod. After the stubborn Goku was placed into his high chair, the baby pounded his chubby arms on the tiny table while Gohan placed their orders. He noticed that Bardock's eyes were distracted by the waitress.

"Caught your eye, huh?"

"What?" Bardock finally looked away after she had walked off and rolled his eyes at the winking man across from him. "Shut up. I was looking at her finger."

"Seeing if she's married, huh?"

"No, idiot! Look at her left hand when she comes back. She has the same material I do."

"Well that's not surprising in Silver Village," Gohan sat up straight when the woman came back with their lunch. She placed two large bowls in front of the men and a tiny bowl in front of Goku that wouldn't be enough for the boy. The old man cleared his throat loudly. "Excuse me, ma'am. My friend here couldn't help but notice your finger. Are you a patient of Dr. Stubbs?"

She beamed brightly before placing her notebook into her apron. She held up the finger in question as if to show it off. "I sure am! Had this nifty thing on me for ten years after a wild dog bit it off."

"Ten years?" Bardock finally spoke. The waitress almost keeled over when realizing that his bowl was already empty just seconds after placing it in front of him. "Damn, it's even long lasting! Bring me another one! And the kid, too!"

Gohan's jaw had dropped when seeing Goku's empty bowl being waved up and down by his little hands. He was on the verge of crying if wasn't given what he wanted, and Bardock was pounding the table. The old man had barely taken his chop sticks out of the wrapper and these two were already asking for seconds!

The waitress was sweating, but she nodded her head and quickly returned to the kitchen to give the orders to the cooks. One of them had peered over the swinging door to see if she was lying but then got to cooking quickly as soon as he had seen the Saiyans growing increasingly angry.

Gohan had dropped lower in his seat as the two began pounding their tables louder. The other patrons were glancing his way, and he suddenly felt embarrassed to be associated with them.

That embarrassment continue to grow when Goku had knocked the freshly delivered bowl to the floor. He had hopped down from the high chair and began licking up the fallen food while Bardock downed his entire extra large bowl in one minute. Then, they had the nerve to demand a third helping.

Gohan covered his face with his right hand while using his left to eat slowly, wondering who was going to pay for all of this food that would surely continue coming.

Bardock was setting up the tent for the night as Gohan had grown tired of walking. He tired offering him a flight back home, but the old man annoyingly declined. He glanced over his broad shoulder to see his son sitting in Gohan's lap as he meditated. The sun was beginning to set.

The Saiyan exhaled through his nose. He always hated sunsets.

What he assumed was the right set up, Bardock opened Gohan's giant backpack he brought with them on the journey to Silver Village and took out the two sleeping bags. He slid them inside the tent and zipped it up. When he stood up to look over the top of the tent, he could see fish jumping around in the lazy river they were taking refuge next to.

"Looks like we're getting a free dinner tonight!"

The old man would have rolled his eyes if they were open. They were just lucky Dr. Stubbs ran over after following a large crowd they were attracting and paid for everything. His old friend was truly a saint. "Come join me, Bardock. We'll eat in a little bit."

Deciding not to argue, Bardock dropped the backpack and walked over to the unlit fire pit. He mimicked Gohan's pose of one leg over the other and hands pointed upward to the side.

"Close your eyes. Breath in," Gohan inhaled and waited for Bardock to do the same before continuing. "Breath out."

Bardock exhaled.

"Who or what is most important in your life right now? Please, keep your eyes closed."

How in the hell did he know they were open!?

Bardock looked at the blackness of his eyelids and continued to breathe in and out as he thought. The question was a simple one, but he was having a hard time coming up with an answer.

"Just say whatever comes to your mind first."

"Goten."

Gohan recalled Bardock mentioning something about a young child before, his grandson if he could remember correctly. The Saiyan's voice sounded a lot quieter than it did a second ago. "How does it make you feel that you're here?"

When Bardock didn't answer, Gohan opened his eyes to see him looking at him coldly. The moon was almost rising and nighttime was causing the sounds of animals and the river to grow louder.

"Deep breaths, friend. Close your eyes and check in. Feel what's around you. What do you hear? What do you smell? Understand your body at this very moment. Keep focusing on your breathing. That's right, Bardock. You're doing great," Gohan smiled and closed his eyes once Bardock's breathing was even again. The old man could hear Goku beginning to stir. "Once more. How does it make you feel that you're here?"

Before Bardock could response as honestly as he could, the sound of clothes being ripped apart caused both of the men's eyes to snap open. Next to them, sprawled out on the grass and looking up at the moon, was Goku with deep red eyes. His little chest was rising up as the rest of his body continue to grow in mass. Bardock was looking at the child transforming before his eyes and didn't look away as he spoke to the old man.

"Uh, there's something I forgot to tell you."

Gohan screamed as the baby had grown into a giant ape-like monster, beating his chest and stamping his feet. The power of it caused Gohan to fly off the ground. He would have rolled to a nearby tree if mechanical fingers were locked around his wrist.

"B-Bardock! What the heck is that thing!? That-that monster can't be the boy!"

"Ohhh, it is," Bardock's hair was blowing around as Goku continued to pound his chest. He flew Gohan a few miles away to give him some distance. Instead of looking terrified, the Saiyan was grinning wickedly. "I completely forgot my son could do that as a child! This is great!"

Gohan crinkled his nose and squinted at the crazy man as the sounds of Goku screaming filled the air. "How is this great!? He's going to kill us all!"

Bardock held up a finger of his own flesh and then looked up at the moon. Gohan fell onto his bottom and began backing up into the woods. The sky had become entranced by an icy blue aura and the river to the side of them was slashing violently. The light in the sky had taken over Bardock's body and exploded through the entire forest, sending Gohan even further away. He wrapped his hands around a thin tree trunk to stop himself and squinted through hazy eyes as the light, and the ape Bardock, had vanished.

The river was suddenly calm, and the grounds only shook when Goku would stomp his feet. The world had almost grown completely slightly.

Gohan released the tree and stood up slowly. His feet were still shaking violently but he took small steps in the direction he had last seen Bardock. The shape had him had emerged from a cloud of blue smoke. One eye was red, one was blue. They were the same color as his hair. His brown tail was red like the new fur that surrounded his skin. The only thing that looked the same was his mechanic arm, that was untouched and free of fur.

"B-Bardock?"

Gohan didn't know if he should've felt relieved or terrified that the new creature before him gave him that trademark smirk.

It was times like this that Gohan wished he carried something sharper than his walking stick. He spent another restless night watching the crazy drifters he invited into his life. Bardock had fought Goku all night long.

Well, not really fighting.

Bardock beat him up all night.

It only ended when the moon finally disappeared. Goku had transformed back into an unconscious naked baby and Bardock decided to fall asleep at the same time once the 'fun' was over. He was wearing the Saiyan pants, the only part of his usual uniform he carried with him through time.

Sighing in a shaky breath, Gohan stood up and bent down by the river to splash water into his face. At this rate, he wasn't sure what was going to kill him: Bardock, The Great Ape, or exhaustion.

"Hey."

"AH!" Gohan was caught by the back of his jacket before he could fall into the river. He stood up and turned around to look at Bardock, who was finally looking like himself again. "What is it!? Is he changing again!?"

"Only during a full moon," Bardock suddenly remembered how the geezer died. "I'll cut his tail off before I go back."

Gohan blinked. Droplets of water dripped from his white brows down to his chin and he wiped it off slowly. "...Go back? Does this mean...?"

"I slept on it. I'm going to kill that son of a bitch."

A/N: There is a poll up on my profile about your personal preference of Trunks' fate following the Goku Black arc. It would be great to get your opinion on it :)
