A drabble I wrote for Zankyou no Terror 1st Anniversary, day one: FIRST / ICELAND. It focuses on Lisa, a character that I never thought I'd like as much as I do. Hope you like it, and feel free to correct my mistakes.
Lisa's life was the silence.
The silence was her life.
All the time people took things away from her. They took it at school, they took it at home. They took everything away, until she had nothing left.
She only gave them silence.
When they made fun of her, when they abused her, she wouldn't react, wouldn't protest, wouldn't give it back. The silence didn't hurt, it anesthetized her during her dull days.
Silence was all she knew.
Silence was all there was.
She walked through silent hallways, silent streets, silent stairs. At night she would lay awake or her silent bedroom with her silent sadness. The silence didn't hurt, but loneliness did, and the silence couldn't help her with that.
The silence was killing her.
She would never speak a word during her silent and lonely routine. She would drink her silence and swallow it, let it rest on the bottom of her stomach. Like a poison, she would allow it to run through her veins and contaminate her system. She would hold her tears back and drown into the void, letting it consume her until there was nothing left. Nothing but silence.
Silence was all there was.
And she was ready to let it kill her.
Ready to drown herself into it. Ready to let go of everything and just drift away in silence.
Ready to be just a falling leaf following the silent wind.

But on that day she met a smile like the Sun, and eyes like ice.
And somehow her life was filled with music once again.
