Natsu was a real idiot.
Why? Oh, you'll see why.
"Hey, Lucy," the pink-haired mage said with a wide grin as his wife of three years hobbled into the guild house. I say "hobbled" because walking normally had been pretty difficult for her the last few months, for obvious reasons.
"Hi, Natsu," she replied with a warm smile, sliding into the seat opposite his and squeezing his hand from across the table.
"Lucy!" Mirajane called, sounding a little anxious. "You didn't walk all the way here from your house, did you?"
"Sure I did," Lucy replied with a shrug. "It's not far."
"Yes, but just look at you! You're in no condition to be walking any distance."
"What was I supposed to do, fly?"
Happy glanced over from where he'd been munching on a slice of bread. "Well," the blue Exceed piped up, "I definitely wouldn't fly her. She was heavy as it was, even without the big belly!"
Lucy glared. "Quiet, before I slap that smirk off of your face, cat."
Happy hid behind Natsu.
Oh, and did I forget to mention it? Lucy happened to be, at the time, pregnant.
Lucy sighed and ran her hands through her hair. "There's really no need to fuss, Mira. I'm fine." She glanced at Natsu. "You did get a job this morning to pay our rent, didn't you?"
Natsu shrugged. "Yeah, just a small one. It adds up, though. And hey, you haven't been going on any jobs lately. Why's it all on me all of a sudden?"
Lucy and Mirajane just stared for a second.
"Natsu," Mirajane began with a sigh, "she is pregnant."
He shrugged. "I know that. But can't she still use her key guys?"
Lucy shifted uncomfortably. "Well, I guess I - "
"Don't even think about it, Lucy," Mira chided. "Natsu's just being an idiot again."
"Hey!" he said defensively. "I am not an idiot! Oh, and Lucy?"
Lucy looked up at him, curious.
"I've kinda been wondering for awhile, but... when do you plan on taking that balloon outta your shirt?"
Lucy paused.
She stared.
Mirajane put her head in her hands and groaned. Happy burst out laughing.
Just then, Erza walked by and slid into the seat next to her blond-haired friend. "Hey, Lucy," she said with a warm smile. "What's going on?"
Lucy sighed heavily. "Nothing, really. We were just learning another lesson in Natsu's stupidity."
"I see," Erza replied, nodding in understanding. "So, nothing new?"
Before Lucy could answer, Natsu cut in. "Luce, seriously! What's with the balloon?"
"Balloon?" Erza frowned.
"Yeah." Natsu pointed to Lucy's round belly. "That one."
Erza stared for a moment.
"Well, not quite 'nothing new,'" Lucy said with a tone of exasperation. "It simply seems he's hit a new low on the stupidity scale."
This was a random idea, and maybe it was kinda dumb, but I just had to write it! Hope you enjoyed! ;)
