Chapter 1
Christmas is normally spent at the vampire summit. Our clan gathers together to discuss the latest news. Yet this year as a favor to Slughorn I was forced to attend his party (he only wanted to showcase me to the insufferable underage wizards, as a thrill to them). If it weren't for the fact that he helped me by giving me blood when I fell into bloodlust, I would've been a no show. That, my friends, is one of the reasons I now carry artificial blood with me at all times.
As a creature of the night you are used to the stares, the fearful glances, the glares, and the never-ending curious looks. I normally don't notice the humans unless their blood is particularly enticing. I was especially popular with the young females tonight. Most people tend to stay away from me, fearing that I would take a bite. You'd think they would learn to trust. They don't know that I only take artificial blood. Yet these girls were attracted to me, they would send flirty gazes at me, I couldn't help but be amused. I remember trying to scare them by pretending to be hungry.
By doing so I caught the attention of her. Her blue eyes seemed to pierce into my soul. She didn't seem to relate well to the other humans. Yet she was clearly a part of them (she after all came with the boy who lived). From her strange apparel to her inquisitive gaze, made me want to know her. Her thoughts, likes, dislikes, and what could make her smile. I, of course, didn't go near her. I knew she might simply turn away in fear or disgust. Rejection hurts, even if you're undead.
To my surprise she was the one who commenced our acquaintance. She believed that I really was hungry. Which is the only reason she approached me in the first place.
"Would you like a blood pop?" She had stated from behind me, in her small hand was a blood pop. "Professor Slughorn wouldn't be pleased if you took blood from his guests."
"And you believe that I would take blood from the students here?" I wonder why I didn't say something more witty or entertaining. After being around so long my wit should be perfected.
"Given the right incentive, people are capable of doing anything." She fastened her blue, blue eyes on me. "But I think that if you don't eat this, I will." She raised the blood pop to her lips having already removed the wrapper. "So what will you do?"
I gave her a smile. She obviously wanted me to take it. "If you insist," I held out my hand. She looked startled.
"Did you know that the nargles are all around you?" She began to bat the air near my head.
"The nargles?" I spoke around the candy.
She looked at me with wide eyes. Her eyes shown with excitement. "Have you heard of them?"
"I believe that someone in my clan once told me about it." There really was no need to add that I thought him completely insane.
"Can vampires see them?" With no hesitation she took hold of my arm. For someone whose heart stop beating, I would've sworn that it skipped a beat. I shook my head. "Hmm I thought it would've been to good to be true."
"I can introduce you to vampire if you would like." If she knew I only offered to simply see her again, I wonder if it would have change her response. Nevertheless she said she would love to. Now, I know it's premature to think that she is the one I am searching for, the one love all vampires search for, but there is something about Luna Lovegood that makes you want to spend all eternity with her.
Eternity would never be boring if Luna was by my side.
