I was at the boarding house. Damon has called us over for some reason and by us I mean me, Elena, and Mary. We were still waiting for Alaric to arrive. I wasn't sure if we were going to talk about anything while we were waiting for him. I didn't have a lot to say to Stefan or Damon because I wasn't really friends with them. I didn't have anything against them, it was just that we weren't friends because I didn't need to be friends with either of them. They were friends with Elena and that was why we hung out.

At that point, Alaric arrived.

"Hey, Ric." Damon greeted him. "Can I ger you anything? Bourbon? Coffee? Bourbon in your coffee?"

Bourbon and coffee didn't taste good together. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I didn't like coffee. If I had hot beverages, cider was my choice.

"Elena said you needed my help." Alaric declared. Apparently, he wasn't in the mood for nonsense.

"We were hoping you could shed some light on the Lockwood family." Stefan stated,

"Why would I know anything about the Lockwoods?" The teacher replied. I could have told them Mason was a werewolf, but they didn't listen to me much.

"You wouldn't, but your dead-not-dead vampire wife would." Damon replied.

"You said Isobel did research while you two were at Duke together." Elena remarked.

"Isobel's research in Mystic Falls was rooted in folklore, which at the time I thought was fiction." Alaric explained.

"You mean like that amazing vampire story?" Damon quipped. Did he really need a snarky response to everything?

"What else was there besides vampires and witches?" Elena asked.

"The lycanthrope." Alaric replied.

"You mean like werewolves?" Mary questioned. Technically, lycanthropes were people that changed into any animal, but I hadn't heard of any other kinds.

"No way. This is all way too Lon Chaney." Damon declared.

"Damon, I know you were alive when that movie came out. You should know that Lon Chaney was already dead!" I replied. Everyone then looked at me. "Sorry."

'I've been on this planet for 170 years and I've never seen a werewolf." Damon declared.

"Just because you've never seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. I know werewolves exist and I know Mason is one."

"Why do you suspect the Lockwoods?" The teacher inquired.

"Because the Gilbert device affected the mayor and Tyler but the vervain didn't." Damon answered.

"We were hoping Isobel's research could tell us more." Elena stated.

"All of her research is still at Duke,." Alaric replied. "Her office is still there because technically she's still missing."

"Well we need to go there then." Damon replied. "I don't know a lot about werewolves, but I do know that werewolves and vampires typically don't like each other and we need to find out about them so I don't end up dead."

The following day, I was in Elena's room while she was preparing to head to Duke. I wasn't going because I promised that I would help Caroline deal with her vampire issues. I was wearing a black dress with a leather jacket and both tights and knee socks.

"Are you sure that you want to do this?" I asked.

"Which part, digging through my bio-mom's life's work, or going to Duke with Damon?" She responded as she continued to pack. "Well I'm sure about the first part? But then again Ric is a very good buffer."

"He seems like he would be an awesome stepdad." I commented.

"I wish you were coming though." She said. "Maybe we could wait a few days."

"No, you should do this tonight." I proposed. "Tonight is a full moon and I don't even know everything about werewolves."

"Do you at least wish you were coming with?" She questioned.

"I wish I could come." I admitted. "I haven't been to college in a while."

After everyone left, I was found by Mary.

"So, what are we doing today?" She asked. I hadn't told her about my plans with Caroline.

"I need to help Caroline." I explained.

"Then I guess I'm coming with." She stated.

"Mary, this could be dangerous." I pointed out. On the other hand, I was her only friend, so I could see why she wanted to come with.

"And I have my ring." She pointed out. "Come on. I haven't really had friends since Vicki died."

"Fine." I relented. "The first thing that we need to do is go see Bonnie so we can get her to make a daylight ring."

So, we headed to the Grill because it was a neutral location and explained the situation to her.

"I don't know how to make a daylight ring." She said.

"Well Emily did and I bet that it's in her spellbook." I pointed out.

"That doesn't mean that I can cast the spell." She declared.

"It's pretty easy." I told her.

"Caroline killed someone." She replied, like we needed to be reminded. "I don't want to make it easier to do it again."

"Okay, first off, Caroline is only a vampire because you told Katherine about her taking vampire blood." I stated. "Second, not making one for her would be more likely to have that effect. Being stuck inside all day could do a lot of damage to her and make her more likely to turn off her emotions. Then she would kill without remorse."

"Bonnie, Caroline is your friend." Mary declared. "She can't help being a vampire any more than you can help being a witch. I think the main problem is that she's scared of what she is. She needs support more than anything."

We then went to Caroline's house.

"So I'm going to explain the rules." Bonnie replied.

"Bonnie, quit being a bitch and cast the spell." I ordered. Mary then looked at me. "Please."

At that point, Bonnie started but I noticed that she wasn't doing it right.

"You're saying it wrong. It goes like this." I said before I read the spell. At that point, the ring glowed. "What the fuck?"

"Did you just cast the spell?" Mary questioned.

"Maybe we should find out." Bonnie replied as she opened the blinds and Caroline instinctively dove under the covers, but she wasn't burning. "How did you do that?"

"I don't know." I admitted. "Vampires aren't supposed to be able to do magic. I mean I could do it before I turned. I've never really tried because I thought it was impossible."

"Well it looks like my work here is done." Bonnie declared before she left with the book.

From there, I decided to call Elena.

"Did you get there safe?" I asked.

"Yeah, we're parking now." Elena replied. "Are you with Caroline yet?"

"Yes. So, while you're there, can you see if its possible for vampires to do magic?" I questioned.

"Why?" She inquired.

"I kind of made Caroline's daylight ring." I stated. "I don't know how I did it. I was just showing Bonnie how to pronounce the words and suddenly it was active."

"I'll see if I can find anything out." She promised.

"Mary, I need you to go somewhere else right now." I said. "I know you have your ring, but I'm going to meet with Stefan to try to teach her how to hunt animals. The smell of your blood will only distract her. I promise that we can hang out after we're done."

I could tell that Mary didn't look happy, but she understood that the main focus of the day was Caroline. I supposed that I could let Stefan do it on his own, but once I had promised Elena that I would help and I didn't think handing her off to someone so I could hang out with Mary was very helpful. Plus it wouldn't be a very good way to earn Caroline's trust.

So, I called Stefan. I had his number from when I was staying in the boarding house. Even though we weren't really friends didn't mean that I didn't think it was a good idea to have a way to contact him. While vampires were very fast, we weren't faster than the speed of a text message. Plus it's still a hassle to have to go to them whenever I want to talk to them. I was jealous of whoever invented the cellphone. Anyway, I took Caroline to one of Stefan's favorite spots to hunt.

"So what do I do when I see the rabbit?" Caroline asked as we walked through the woods.

"Chase, it, catch it, bite it." Stefan explained. I was going to be doing it too, even though I wasn't really looking forward to it.

"Isn't killing cute little animals the first step to becoming a serial killer?" Caroline asked him.

"Serial killer is a level below vampire." I told her.

"Caroline, if you're not serious about this, I need you to tell me." Stefan added.

"I am serious." Caroline snapped. "It's just that I haven't been in the sun in days and everyone is at the swimming hole having fun and Matt is there and he finally told me that he loved me bur I've been blowing him off and now you two want me to eat bunnies."

At that point, Stefan chuckled.

"And now you're laughing at me." She added.

"No, I'm not laughing at you. It's not funny. It's a terrible situation, but…" He declared.

"But what?" She asked.

"It's just when you become a vampire, you personality is heightened." Stefan explained. "Like I cared for people a lot as a human and now that's magnified."

"So you're telling me that I'm an insecure, neurotic control freak…on crack?" She asked.

"Well I wouldn't say it like that." Stefan replied. You know it was rare to see him smile so much.

"Come on. Let's do this." I intervened. "After we finish up here, we can go to the swimming hole.

"Really?" Caroline asked hopefully.

"Your friends are your closest connection to your humanity right now and being around them is a good thing." I stated. At that she smiled giddily

I hate animal blood. I really hate it. It tastes like dirt, but I promised that I would do it. I probably should have made it clear that this was going to be a onetime thing.

From there, I went to pick up Mary from the house. I decided to steal one of Elena's bikinis. I probably wouldn't look as good as she did in it because my skin was as white as snow.

"So if you can do magic, could you do the spell to change me into a biological girl?" Mary asked as I drove us in Elena's car.

"First, I don't remember the spell." I replied. "I doubt Bonnie would let me look at the grimoire. Second, I don't even know how I managed to cast the spell in the first place. It might not be safe."

"I definitely trust you." She declared. "Plus it would be nice to actually wear a swimsuit."

"Well I still don't know the spell." I declared. I didn't know how I would be able to get it if I couldn't get it from Bonnie. I wanted to be able to help her.

Once we got to the swimming hole, I stripped to the black and blue bikini. If I wasn't mistaken, it was the same one that Elena wore to the carwash. I was scouting out Logan at the time, but I couldn't help but sneak a few peeks at her.

"Why are you wearing one of Elena's swimsuits." Caroline asked me.

"Because I don't have any of my own." I pointed out.

I then saw Caroline get in a bit of a fight because some other who I had never seen before was flirting with Matt. She compelled the girl to leave Matt alone.

"Is she going to be okay?" Mary asked. I wasn't sure who she was talking about, but I assumed that she meant Caroline.

"I think so. I just think that she needs to get over her jealousy issues." I answered. To be honest, I didn't know if I supported her and Matt together. She needed to with someone strong and I didn't know if Mat could be that person for her.

Later in the night, everyone was starting to leave. I couldn't help but wonder what Mason was doing since it was a full moon and he was a werewolf. At that point, I got a call from Elena. I wondered if they had left or if they were still there.

"Hey, we're still here." She said.

"So, what did you find out?" I questioned. "Well legend has it that a werewolf bite is fatal to vampires. We don't know if it's true, but we should probably be careful."

"I'll get Caroline and Stefan and we'll get out of here. I love you." I stated before hanging up. At that point, I noticed that Caroline and Matt were gone. Stefan and I went out into the woods. I heard a howl. That wasn't good. We found that Caroline was drinking Matt's blood. I went over and tore her off of him.

"We need to get out of here." I declared.

"I can't believe that I hurt Matt." She cried. "He was the last person that I wanted to hurt."

"We can worry about that later. Right now there is a werewolf loose and we need to get out of here." I explained as I ran.

"What?" Caroline asked.

"Mason Lockwood is a werewolf." I replied. "Werewolf bites kill vampires."

"What are you guys doing out here?" Tyler interrupted. What was he doing out here? It also confirmed that he wasn't a werewolf. "I said that everyone needed to be out of here by dark."

At that point, a wolf came out and tackled Caroline. It was likely Mason. I decided to go against my best judgment and tackled him off of her.

"Leave us alone." I ordered. At that point, something else strange happened. He listened to me and ran away.

After we got out of the woods, Caroline compelled Matt to forget about what happened. Then she broke up with him. Like I said, I just don't think that he's strong enough for her.

"So this has been an interesting day." Mary told me as we got in the car.

"Yeah." I agreed. That was definitely one word to describe it. "You know if I find that spell and find out how I'm able to do magic, I will use it on you. Now let's go home."

So this chapter subtlely revealed who Anna's father is. She still doesn't know much about her upbringing but it's going to get awkward as the sacrifice gets closer. Next chapter she has to deal with her ex. That will be fun. Please don't forget to review.
