Hi Everyone! I'm still alive!

Thank you all for waiting. I'm really sorry that I haven't been updating recently!

Let's skip the introduction and dive straight in. I'm really excited to hear you guys' reactions to this one.

Warnings: Grammar errors (possibly, I checked but I'm nowhere near perfect), slight ooc

Leaning over the railing, Shinichi watched as the sirens began to fade out of sight, Nakamori-keibu's yelling lingering in the air as as he chased a distant, white hang glider. He watched as the crowds gathered around the hotel began to disburse, chatting excitedly about KID's stunts that night. Another successful heist. For KID, not the police, unsurprisingly. Turning his head up to stare at the starry sky, Shinichi breathed out a sigh of relief. Despite the bustling activity below him, he felt at peace, alone, on top of the roof of the Haido City Hotel.

Well, he thought, not quite alone.

"Kaito!" he called loudly, not bothering to turn around or move from his spot.

Almost immediately, warm arms covered in pristine, white fabric enveloped him in a hug, an equally warm body pressed against his back.

"Tantei-kunnnn," the white clad thief whined, "How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that when I'm working!"

Shinichi hummed, considering the complaint for a few seconds. "But, you're not working right now, right?" he refuted calmly.

He tensed slightly as he felt a hot breath of the other's sigh against his neck.

"It's the principle of the thing!" Kaito complained, relaxing more of his weight onto the blue eyed detective "I'm wearing the suit so I'm Kaito KID, the wonderful, mysterious, and best gentleman, phantom thief in the whole world!"

Shinichi deadpanned, "The other adjectives weren't necessary."

He felt the other chuckling against his back, the soft rumbling that would have made him blush years ago. But not anymore. No, years of time spent with the magician had acclimated him so that he no longer reacted to the other's closeness. Then, the arms around him tightened.

"Sometimes I feel like you don't respect the suit, Shi~ni~ichi~," Kaito teased.

Shinichi turned his head slightly so the other could see his eye roll. Twisting around, Shinichi moved so that he was facing the self-proclaimed 'best phantom thief in the world' before reaching over to wrap his arms around the other's waist. Looking up, Shinichi steadily met the magician's gaze, absently noting the other's slightly pink cheeks. "Why would I?" he replied.

Kaito opened his mouth to retort but was cut off as Shinichi pressed himself against his chest, burying his face into the soft, blue fabric of the thief's uniform. "Why would I," he mumbled, "When I would rather have my boyfriend, Kuroba Kaito, instead?"

Shinichi pressed himself closer to Kaito's warmth, feeling his face heat up at his own words. There was a strangled noise above him that caused him to look up. Kaito stood, red-faced and frozen, mouth opening and closing but no words were coming out. Grinning at the sight, Shinichi moved to give his boyfriend a light poke on his side. "Where's your famous poker face, magician-san?~ Is the famous gentleman thief speechless?" He teased.

Kaito quickly pushed him away, moving so that they were an arm's length away. He placed one hand on Shinichi's shoulder, and another moved to catch Shinichi's chin, forcing the detective to look at him. "It's not fair," he breathed, "Right now, I'm not Kaitou KID, as you wished. I'm Kuroba Kaito, Kudo Shinichi's boyfriend. I can't help it if my boyfriend is being so adorable right in front of me."

Shinichi flushed as Kaito leaned in and their lips met in a soft kiss. Melting into Kaito's arms, Shinichi was vaguely aware of the faint taste of chocolate on the other's lips before Kaito's tongue gained entrance into his mouth and he ceased to have any coherent thought as he was enveloped in Kaito. Kaito's scent. Kaito's taste. Everything in his world was just wholly Kaito.

Breaking the kiss for air, Shinichi felt his legs wobble, threatening to give out. Kaito's firm grip around him was the only thing keeping him up now. Perhaps he was exaggerating slightly when he implied that Kaito didn't affect him after years of being together. Even now, Kaito enthralled him. A never ending mystery, years after his discovery of the identity of the man behind the monocle. Every action, every word, ever part of him entranced Shinichi. No matter how much time he spent with Kaito, he did not think that that would change. (Though he did get better at hiding it. It's not like his boyfriend needed an even bigger head. Besides, Shinichi was quite sure that the magician already knew what effect he had on Shinichi.

Kaito grinned, pleased at the opportunity to turn the tables against the other and tease the detective. "Aw, Meitantei~," he cooed, "Who would have thought that the icy detective can blush like this! You're as red as that bow tie you're so fond of~. Are you losing your touch?"

Shinichi scowled, tugging on Kaito's collar as he regained his strength. "If you're Kuroba Kaito then I'm Kudo Shinichi, not Meitantei," he growled, staring up at the other, eyes challenging Kaito to contradict him.

Kaito laughed brightly, leaning into the other to whisper in his ear, "OK," he breathed, "Shinichi." Grinning wildly when he heard Shinichi's breathe hitch, fading blush making a reappearance on his face.

There was a tense pause as neither dared to breathe. Then suddenly both were laughing, clutching their stomachs as they sunk down to the floor. After a few minutes, their fading laughter was carried away by the wind and they both laid down on the cool rooftop, relaxing side by side. Shinichi turned to face Kaito, expression serious, "So was this one it?" he questioned.

Kaito shook his head, pulling out the glittering topaz that was today's heist target with a flick of his wrist and a puff of smoke. "Nope. Not it again~" he stated cheerfully, "I'll send it back to Nakamori-keibu tomorrow."

Shinichi didn't say anything in response but carefully moved his hand to grasp Kaito's gloved one and gave a small squeeze.

"We'll find it one day," he stated quietly after a few moments.

Kaito gave the other a tired smile, dropping his cheerful mask. Of course, it didn't work on him, he thought fondly. Only his detective was able to see through the walls he tried so desperately to put up. The mysteries he enveloped himself with. No matter what he did, Shinichi was able to see through him. Shinichi truly was a great detective.

"One day," he muttered to the night sky, "Oyaji. Just you wait." The was no verbal reply but, another gentle squeeze and the lingering warmth in his left hand conveyed Shinichi's message as clear as day. One day. It confirmed. Together.

They stayed in silence like that. Each lost in their own thoughts as they stared at the stars and moon working together to illuminate the darkness. After a few minutes, they began to drift into lighter topics. Talking about their week, classes, things they ate and saw, cases, magic shows. All the little things that made up their life. The things they told each other to remind themselves that the other was in their lives. Occasionally, they would lapse into a comfortable silence, each content to stay there and bask in each other's company knowing that they would always have these moonlit memories even as the sun will enviably rise and they would part on their separate ways.

Someday, they thought, one day, I will walk with you under the sun and we'll never be apart. One day, Kaito would finish his mission and put the past to rest, but until then, they would continue meeting under the protective night sky and watchful moon.

One day, Kaito thought, I'm going to announce to the world that you are mine alone. I'll make sure that we'll be together forever. Until then, I'll keep stealing your heart.

One day, Shinichi thought, I'm going to call your name without fear that we'll be overheard. I'll hold your hand without worrying that we'll be seen. I'll stand by your side and never leave you alone. Until then, I'll continue chasing after you.

Shinichi sneezed, shivering as a gust of cold wind blew across the rooftop, interrupting Kaito's colorful recount of his latest prank on Hakuba and Aoko's explosive reaction. Immediately, Kaito was kneeling next to him, pulling him up into a seated position and wrapping his suit jacket around him, apologizing for not realizing how cold it was and asking if he was okay. Shinichi waved off his fussing, "I'm fine. I didn't realize how cold it would get so my jacket was a little light."

Kaito frowned, "You should be more careful. Your body is still recovering. If you get sick..." he trailed off.

Shinichi rolled his eyes but still pulled the jacket closer around him regardless. It was warm. And it smelled like Kaito. "I'm fine," he repeated, "It has been years, you know."

"Still," Kaito insisted, "Take care of yourself, Shinichi." I don't want to lose you went unsaid.

Shinichi heard it nonetheless and gave the other a reassuring smile, "Thanks." You won't.

Kaito stood up, reaching down to pull the other up, "Come on. It's late. You should head home. I think it is way past a first grader's bedtime," he teased.

Shinichi scowled, giving him a light swat on the shoulder, "I'm twenty, thanks," he stated irately.

Kaito smiled, unrepentant. "Ehhhhh? It seemed like just 4 years ago that you just reached my kneecaps~"

Glaring, Shinichi threatened bluntly, "How would you like if I kicked those kneecaps right now?"

Kaito paled, backtracking, "Uh, I'm fine. No, thank you," he stated nervously, voice taking on a (slightly) pleading tone. "Please don't hurt me. I like my kneesā€¦ And every other part of my body." He would deny to his dying day that his voice cracked out of nervousness.

Shinichi huffed but relented, deciding to spare Kaito for the time being.

"Go home, huh?" He mused after a few moments, turning to look at the skyline in the general direction of Beika.

Kaito nodded, glad for the other's mercy, "Yup! There's a two-story mansion in Beika-cho that is calling for your return. The same for me in Ekoda."

Shinichi nodded but didn't move, only turning to look at Kaito.

Kaito's eyes softened. "We're only parting ways for a little bit. I'll see you soon. If I don't hold another heist soon, I'll visit you at your house sometime next week!" He attempted to reassure the other, thinking that the other was reluctant to leave, just like he was.

"Mhmm," Shinichi mumbled, still not moving as he continued to stare through the other.

"Um, Shinichi?" Kaito ventured cautiously, wary of the threat to his kneecaps. "We should go home."

Shinichi nodded again before stepping closer and silently wrapping Kaito in a hug.

"Eh, Shinichi?" Kaito questioned, surprised but not displeased with the sudden show of affection.

"m .. ome," Shinichi mumbled into his shirt.

"What was that?" Kaito asked, straining to hear the other.

Shinichi released him before looking him in the eyes, face pink with embarrassment, "I said-!". A pause. "I'm home. Kaito's my home so I'm home!"

Kaito froze as Shinichi's words registered. His face felt like it was on fire. "Awwww," he complained, sinking to his knees, arms covering his completely red face. "You're too cuteeeee! Why are you so adorable? How can I leave nowwwwww?!"

Shinichi smiled, crouching down so that he was eye-level with the blushing magician. "Then don't leave me," he stated plainly, still smiling.
