Namimori Middle School
Year 1-October

Chapter 12
To support the best

"Hana!" A young girl squeaked.

"Yes, Kyoko?" dark haired girl asked in a bored tone, but with a hint of possibly amusement.

"Hana!" Sasagawa shakes her before hugging her.

Tsuna blinks at this scene, wondering if she should interrupt whatever they are having at the classroom's doorway blocking everyone's entry.

Hayato rolls his eyes and made a movement to push them when Takeshi cheerfully asked, "Yo! Hana-san, Kyoko-san, can you let us in?"

"Oh! Sorry!" Kyoko giggled and pulled Hana to their seats.

"Wonder what that was about?" Takeshi asked, ignoring Hayato mumbling threats.

"Who knows," Tsuna shrugs. She sits and takes out her assignment she tried and possibly failed on.

"How was building the stage work out for you?" Tsuna asked only to stare at Hayato's weirded out look in response.

Takeshi chuckles, while dodging a swipe from Hayato's ruler to his face, "You should have seen him. He gaped how the coach gave us the run down and told us, as first years were in charge of building it."

"How was I supposed to know we were supposed to build all that?!" Hayato spluttered out, trying and failing to hide his red face.

"What did your old school do?" Takeshi asked.

Hayato scoffs, "School is overrated."

Takeshi squints at him before slamming his fist into his hand, "Oh, you didn't go to school."

"I'm not stupid!"

"We never said that, Hayato," Tsuna said as she awkwardly pats his shoulder.

"Yep, I bet you're at university level," Takeshi had no shyness and wraps his arm over Hayato's shoulder, "Glad you deemed worth your time to hang out with us lowly mortals and Tsuna of course."

Hayato opens his mouth, but seems to process what the other said, "Of course."

Tsuna giggles.

"Did you hear about Kokuyo Middle? They had to closed down the school for investigation," whispers one of the students behind Tsuna as they sat down.

Tsuna frowns, Where did I hear Kokuyo before?

"Oh~ I heard about that; a special doctor volunteered to help out—"

"Alright, good morning class," Nezu-sensei greets with a roll of eyes.

The class greets back in mostly similar fashion with some grumbling here and there.

"We have the news from our class rep. Sooner we hear it, the sooner we start class," the teacher rolled his eyes.

Kurokawa's face was stormy before it cleared up. She stood in front of the class and gave the new update for the Sport's Day event.

"Good morning. We at the student council have officially tallied the final count for the winner of each grade's leader, who will be willing to inspire to the rest of their grade level. For our Third year's, Kensuke Mochida, the Second year's is Iris Hepburn and for our year's is Kyoko Sasagawa."

The class cheered and Tsuna gave Kyoko a thumbs up when she looked over as she nods in gratefulness.

Nezu mutters complaints under his breath, knowing there will be no class being done.

"Let's do our best, everyone!" Kyoko pumps her fist up, getting an echoing cheer.

Tsuna looks up from working on her homework on the floor to squint at Reborn who jumps on the one seat couch before proceeding to pet Leon.
It was strange to move her homework from her room desk to the living room. From what her mother explained, Lambo had a literal tantrum explosion when he found out his subordinate, Fuuta, was about to be taken away when he wasn't looking.

RIP her room.

This led to the relocation to the living room and a serious warning from her mother to Reborn to not use any "explosive" motivational techniques.

The front door shuts and in came Hayato. Somehow the young teen had taken off his shoes in his dead exhaustion before entering the living room. He sinks into the couch, not even changed out of his delivery uniform.

"No training?" She asks Reborn as she mindlessly reaches over the blanket, she had ready and carefully lays it over Hayato. In turn Hayato mumbles out a thank you and rolls himself into a blanket burrito.

"Nope," Reborn perks up at the sight of Takeshi bringing in a tray of drinks and snacks.

The growing boy hitman made gimme gestures, which made Takeshi chuckle.

Serving him first, Takeshi then proceeded to serve Tsuna and a sports bottle for their fatigue silver haired friend.

Reborn sighs happily into his warm mug before explaining, "I am experimenting the non-helicopter mom tutor approach."

"The what?" Tsuna frowns. Hayato grabs his sports water bottle and slowly drinks, grateful in not dealing with accidentally tipping a glass over himself again.

"Oh, Pops was like that," Takeshi chuckles.

"First time was when he retired permanently from his overseas job of a head injury. He basically tailed me everywhere, more so when Mom..." he grips on the empty tray for a moment before grinning, "He tone it down recently. No wait, he actually found out yesterday about the Roof Incident, which reminds me..."

Takeshi rans off while making a call in his phone. The back door slides shut just as he greets his father.

Tsuna looks over her seat to stare through her glass back door at Takeshi talking and making gestures until a soft sound catches her attention.

Hayato's bottle fell from his loose grip. The hardworking silver haired teen has fallen asleep.

"I'm giving you a break," Reborn continued the previous conversation in a quieter tone, "besides, I'll be there to make sure you don't get yourself killed or back out from a challenge."

"Sure," Tsuna taps her pencil over her half-finished stack of assignments.

"No interfering with the sports day, nor adding an awesome puzzle. Nothing. Hitman's honor," Reborn places his hand over his chest and Leon gravelly nods.

"Ok, I believe you," Reborn smirks only to pout when Tsuna finishes, "Leon."

Leon on his part, grins and waves his tail.

"Top ten anime betrayals," Reborn deadpans, looking at the unrepentant chameleon.

Tsuna snickers, but returns to her homework. Silence only broken by her writing and erasing was uninterrupted for the next 20 minutes.

SLAM!

Tsuna barely finished jumping when Hayato basically leaps out of his blanket cocoon. The young teenage girl suddenly finds herself being stuck between the carpet and Hayato's body.

"Well done subordinate! Lambo-sama has taught you well! Gwahaha!" Lambo shouts from the house's entrance.

Hayato twitches and growls after the fleeing, gleeful child. Although it was a bit too gleeful with the way Lambo was running back and forth, all over the first floor.

Tsuna turns to Fuuta who just finished taking off his shoes at the entrance. He smiles sheepishly, "I gave him a double candy than usual for being a good boss."

At this Lambo jumps on the banister toward the second floor and poses.

"Of course! Lambo-sama is the bestest boss," Tsuna flinched at Limbo's use of words, "Nobody is taking his subordinates, not even those Todds."

This had Tsuna stand up, "What? Fuuta? Mom? You're alright?"

"Oh, don't worry~" Nana giggles and hands off the groceries to Bianchi who quickly puts on her goggles just as Hayato made a sharp turn toward the stairs.

Tsuna seeing her friend hasn't fainted, turns back to her mother in worry.

"They were nice enough to help carry the groceries, but made sure to give a nice 10 feet space between us," Nana giggles.

"...what." Tsuna's eye twitched.

Her mother giggles again as she pats her head before walking to the kitchen, "It's so nice my daughter has a fan club."

Once the young mother enters the kitchen, Tsuna turns to Reborn in shock.

"I have nothing to do with that. Interesting fact I found out was apparently you made an impression on their boss when he was still an heir, years back," Reborn smirks behind his mug, "When were you going to tell me he had proposed a match meeting once you were of age?"

"Haha, that's funny Reborn," a good natured laughed followed Takeshi's comment, who finished his long phone call. Yet Tsuna felt a certain edge on Takeshi's laughter.

Tsuna nervously smiles, feeling Hayato's killer intent from upstairs before chocking on her spit at the sight outside her window.

Just beyond her fence was a large banner barely legible in the sinking sun that read "Go Team Lady Yume!"

Takeshi rubs her back as she catches her breathe before covering her burning face.

"Again, why should I do the work? There is always someone out there messing with you. You are truly a gift," Reborn drinks the rest of his drink and makes his way upstairs.

Finally, Sport's Day arrived and Tsuna rubs her eyes from her exhaustion, barely listening the principal. That is until she and everyone else snap to attention at the familiar, deadly voice broke the boring, fake cheery voice of the principal.

"Keep it clean, herbivores or I'll bite you death," Hibari interrupted the principal who was giving the opening speech. The president of the Disciplinary Committee looked eager, daring someone to do it. Tsuna mentally whines and prays her luck wouldn't be that bad for it to happen to her.

Trying to swallow the wary feeling, Tsuna looks over the parents, yet to find her mother.

"Sorry Tsuna!" said girl turns to the sheepish Takeshi, "Pops called your mom to pick up a video camera to record us since he had a lot of orders to make."

"Couldn't he cancel?" Hayato scrunches his face in disgust, "I was led to believe good parents always go to these...functions."

"Haha, yeah, he wanted to, but it has been a while he had a large order and I had to make a deal with him for him to stay and not come today," Takeshi grins, "Super glad your mom and Pops has been in contact before or else I wouldn't have known what to do."

"What a martyr," scoffs Hayato, but a hint a smile escaped his scowl.

"S-so with no further ado, we now begin the Sport's day!" the principal practically started the event and took off running behind the teachers.

Reborn now as tall to her mid-thigh, elbows her knee, "You have fans, Dame-Yume."

"I do not," Tsuna winces at the sharp elbow that almost made her fall.

She then fervently ignored the group of suited people behind her mother, who just arrived. She turns on the camera. At her side was Lambo "helping" Fuuta carry a picnic basket. Bianchi, who was wearing goggles, stood protectively next to them.

"Honestly, are you first years trying to check off your middle school debut list items despite of the year being halfway over?" sneered Hepburn.

Kyoko waved at at the cheering squad, enabling them to cheer more, "More the merrier! Once again many thanks Tsuna-chan!"

In response, she gave a lopsided smile, swallowing her moan of despair. Still that didn't stop her from waving her overly excited mother who flapped her free arm. Fuuta had moved to sit in front of Nana mumbling to himself as he flipped through his large book of rankings. As for Lambo, he was waving a flag with "Stupidera" in shaky kanji on top of the picnic basket.

"Go Hayato! Go Takeshi! Go~ Tsuna-chan!" Nana shouted, somehow overheard by other cheering parents.

Hayato blushed and shyly waved back.

"Little Lambo sure has favorites," Takeshi elbowed Hayato's side.

"Stupid cow," grumbled the silvered haired teen.

"Alright Year 1!" Kyoko shouted, catching not only the first years, but some of the upperclassmen.

Slightly red face, Kyoko goes on, "This is our greatest moment to show off to our sempais, and we will win or at least make them work for the victory!"

Some looked interested, but many scoffs at the impossibility.

"We can't give up now. Half the victory is how willing we are to more than try!" Tsuna blurts out. Catching their attention, "W-we are going to give our best and not regret tomorrow. We will set the bar. We are not cowards. Hibari-sempai is here, yet we survived his reign."

Why, oh why she opened her mouth, what she will give for Reborn to shot her to put her out of her misery!

"Well said, Tsuna-chan! Always inspiration in words and action!" Kyoko beams and looks at everyone. Hana comes and gives her a long black ribbon.

Grabbing it from her friend's hand. Kyoko ties it to her head and makes a knot, "Team 1! Ready to fight?!"

Her eyes burn with a fire, lifting everyone's spirit.

"TEAM 1 FOR THE WIN!"

Tsuna gives a surprising chuckle and straightens up, which her two best friends doing the same.

"Tsk, we lost time thanks to Osamu tripping," Hayato growls. They watched their classmate practically throwing the baton to Kyoko from the ground he sprawled while inside of the sack.

Then to their shock, Kyoko practically hopped like a graceful gazelle in her sack and overcame the lost couple lost feet, beating one of her brother's club members and Hepburn's underlings. Team 1 won the race.

"That's my Kyoko! Our extreme training paid off!" The older Sasagawa cheered ignoring his classmates until Mochida hissed both of them to focus. Strangely enough, Mochida kept glancing at Kyoko. Or Tsuna thinks with the way Kurokawa kept placing herself between her friend and the third year's class leader.

She looked around and noticed how one of the Disciplinary Committee members rushed toward the Vice President in barely controlled panic. He whispers something and the Vice President nods before jumping toward Hibari-sempai, who was watching everyone like some kind of gargoyle. Dread filled her stomach when the feared prefect tensed and absolute fury, jumped off the roof toward outside of school grounds with his coat sharply flapping behind him.

Unfortunately, this wasn't left unnoticed. The stiffness of obedience loosens. More so when the Vice President focused on calling in a hissed instructions in his cellphone. Call it her intuition, but this has become a recipe for disaster.

"Hayato, Takeshi," Tsuna calls out without facing her friends, eyeing Hepburn's underlings with suspicion, "We have to support Kyoko. Nobody is going to mess with her in such a low manner."

"It's a free for all, but there should always be some properness and good sportsmanship," Takeshi comments before a whistling of a swing bat, from who knows where, knowing he was stretching. For now.

"Such uncivilized people," Hayato with a hint of a smirk by the way he talked, "Lady Yume believes Sasagawa, the captain of Year 1 is worthy, naturally we have a duty in supporting our captain."

Surprisingly, the obstacle race was tamed, probably because most of Team 2 and 3 already knew what to expect and won in a tie, leaving the Team 1 bruised by the moving foam bars, mud pits and surprise pie throwing teachers.

(Nezu took special glee at hitting his own homeroom class, basically reverse favoritism. This was the main cause of this loss. He'll come to regret it it on their next class day).

Now the third event was different than the last years, from what was whispered among the upper years.

Three tall wooden poles, surrounded by mats, were to be guarded by each year's team, At the top of the pole was their leader. The opposing team members will have to climb up the pole and have the opposing leader touch the ground, although preferably the mat.

Tsuna stares suspiciously at Reborn, who smirks, but shakes his head. He returns to record everything with his green camera.

Once the whistle was blown, Team 2 basically rammed to the opposing teams' poles. Mats were used as weaponry and some already pulled out bats and bokken from under their uniforms.

In response, Hana and a couple of the other classes in their year barely caught Kyoko when the pole fell. Hepburn sneered from the only unbroken pole, confident despite of the lack of guards around said pole. Many of the first years were hurt by the attack, but seeing their leader still not touching the ground, throwing her shoes to those messing with her pseudo ride, who were her fellow classmates, fought back.

"How ungrateful, shameless pieces of sh—!" cried out at the injustice by one of the temporary named Team 1's cheering squad near Nana.

Takeshi swings his bat when one of the second years who also was in the baseball team came rushing.

"Careful, Yamamoto, you might happen to permanently damage your arm," smirked the second year swung his bat toward the dark haired teen's arm.

Unfazed, Takeshi swung his bat to met the other and obliviated the other's bat. Then stepped to the side to let Hayato to rush in with a warcry and punched the second year's stomach before heaving him over his shoulder. The older boy was knocked out.

Amused with a dark chuckle, Takeshi repeated the action and sometimes switched. Seeing Hayato make an ungraceful swing, yet hit his target, even if said target tried to use the mat as a shield, made his day.

Tsuna in the other hand weaved between the viscous fighting toward the unprotected pole. Similar to Hayato, she yelled and spin in the air to give a wood cracking kick in the middle of the Team 2's pole.

"You fools, come back here!" screech Hepburn as the pole veered, slowly toward the ground.

Unfortunately for her, back up has arrived.

Mochida lifts his bokken as he was raised by a couple of guys from his team by the looks of their uniform, "Year 3! Support our kouhai from the traitorous Year 2!"

Hepburn stood no chance, figuratively and literally. She screamed when her large support finally fell. She was barely caught by her underlings who cut it close.

Kyoko who had been pushed by said underlings in their haste, stood nonchalantly with her arms folded behind her. Hayato had earlier caught a piece of the broken pole and passed it to Takeshi, who proceeded to pitch it in a way Kyoko to land on.

No toe or heel touched the ground.

"Still in the game, you foolish idiots," Hepburn's eyes burn in fury, sitting up from the face down, knocked out underlings. She grabbed a piece of wood and threw it toward Kyoko. Tsuna cursed, but stared when Mochida basically flew at got in between. He landed hard on the ground, holding the caught piece of wood.

Silence washed over at the sacrificial play. Kyoko stares at the moaning Mochida then up to Hepburn.

Team 1's leader was not smiling. She gave a cold look before turning into pity, "My friends gave me a hand just as I would of if I was in their place. Shame it cannot be said the same about you, Iris Hepburn."

Tsuna looks back at Hepburn and snorts a giggle from the second year's scattered mats. The remaining second years raised their arms, while others scoffs at their leader in disgust.

Hepburn glares at Tsuna and pushes her hand from the ground to stand up only to freeze.

Her hand touched the ground.

"AA-And the winner is Year 1! No uniform for a week goes to them!" the principal shouts in the microphone and everyone cheered. Just a bit lower than it would have since no one wanted Hibari to suddenly show up and rain on their parade and bite all of them for disturbing the peace. Now if they can clean up fast enough before Hibari returns from wherever he went.

BODYGUARD IN ANOTHER LIFE
=((==== A FATHER IN EVERY LIFETIME ====))=
BODYGUARD IN ANOTHER LIFE

Tsuyoshi Yamamoto sighs, but couldn't drop the small smile of a job well done. His son was partially right that he would enjoy this large order. It isn't just the cooking he truly enjoyed. It was the fact that it has been a very long time in utilizing his swords skills even though it was an excuse to finish the large order of food on time.

He was still scared for his son. Especially that now the school deemed to give him a heads up over the Roof Incident, which happened months ago.

Thoughts of how to keep a sharper eye on his son's health were interrupted by the front door being unlocked. He finally able to convince his son to bring his best friends to finally meet them.

He caught his son's voice, "—lucky for your fan club left, right?"

A female voice responded, but he couldn't quite catch what she said. He did hear the third voice.

"Ha! It would take more than that to be forgiven for what they did to the kid!"

The door opened in a jingle and in amusement, Tsuyoshi calls out, "Its closed, please come another day!"

"Pops!" Takeshi beams and once more the father couldn't believe how he didn't realize how his son's smile dimmed over the year and only recently got it back after nonstop chatter of his friends. In retrospect, another sign was how Takeshi not only never brought friends over, he never spoke other than his teammates or classmates. Not until them.

"Finally brought your friends over? When is the triple wedding?"

He grins at his blushing son. Then Takeshi steps to the side to let his friends in.

The familiar silver haired boy gaps at him. It was only when he saw the third person that it clicked where he had seen him.

"Lady Yume?! Gokudera-sama?" talk about seeing her ghost.

Sure, the young girl lost her long hair and the bright light in her eyes seemed dimmer than he last saw them, but he would recognize the girl from his last assignment the Vongola Lion told him to watch over. And faked her death to send her somewhere in the world in hiding after the Vongola Mansion was attacked years ago. He sure wished the idiot at least told him she was actually nearby.

Then it dawn on him Nana, who tears into anyone who dares to insult her baby girl in the middle of the supermarket is the same "cute, innocent wife that no one deserves" (the latter were Iemitsu's words not his).

"Sakura-sensei?" Lady Yume frowned, but her words still had an Italian hint to them.

The silver haired boy mutters to his son, "Figures how I didn't like you in sight."

He ignored their conversation as he stared at the girl, "Glad I got to see you, kiddo. For a second there I feared that your father's plan backfired him."

A cold dread filled his stomach when she looked down, but he wont push, "Since you are finally here, take a seat and I will bring the banquet of victory for the three of you!"

"Make that four, Agent Sakura," a child's voice spoke up and he jumped at the sudden appearance of a kindergarten child in one of the seats at the front table. Not just any child by the suit and signature yellow band fedora with a green chameleon on top. Reborn, the renowned and world's best hitman.

Tsuyoshi laughs, seeing with his own eyes the Arcobaleno's curse was finally broken. He winks at the Sun Arcobaleno, "I stand corrected. After all, a growing boy as yourself needs all the food they can get."

"You're lucky I like you or you would have been dead many times over," Reborn smirks.

"Haha, Reborn please don't joke about Pops about that," Takeshi laughed, but Tsuyoshi beams as he pulls out trays of food he had put away.

He catches Lady Yume eyeing his bandana suspiciously. Not really surprised since he knows her intuition is strong as ever, already wondering about his nasty scar underneath the bandana tied around his forehead. He looked away and gave some privacy to the trio as they huddle together and talked to each other.

Reborn sat closer to him and took out his gun to clean, placing a couple of bullets on the table. Tsuyoshi frowns at the bluntness of the hitman. Since the bullets were not ordinary, but of the Dying Will kind that were in the works before he retired. It seems they were now ready for use.

"Maybe you can help Decimo and myself to convince Iemitsu to allow Dame-Yume get flame training as well," Reborn casually picks them up and slots them into his gun before it disappeared in his suit jacket. Leon jumped down and blinked at Tsuyoshi.

"Reborn, there is a reason why Iemitsu would not agree for you to shot her with that," Tsuyoshi whispers as he eyes his son making gestures of hitting a baseball. Lady Yume and the former Gokudera heir clapped, although the latter did it reluctantly, he was relieved as well.

"You didn't say never," Reborn smirks.

Tsuyoshi pulls out a small plate and takes some of the leftovers on it before sliding it toward the green chameleon. Then he turns to Reborn, remembering the chaos in the hospital room when Dr. Shamal checked little Lady Yume after being kidnapped. The room was never the same and her flames…

"You probably saw them and possibly they were breathtaking, but we had to have the Ninth sealed them for a reason. For everyone and in especially for herself," Tsuyoshi looks away and gives a small smile when he saw the trio laughing.

"That explains why she is off balance," Reborn gravely states, getting the sushi chef's attention, "A sky especially of her lineage and potential, that only cripples her. Her flames are part of her and sealing them are just as damaging."

"Then you better have a good back up if you are willing to risk everything," Tsuyoshi warns, not caring this is the greatest hitman. He still has a duty to protect her even if now it includes his son and Gokudera.

Reborn was silent for a moment before nodding, "Of course. I am the hitman tutor and it's my duty to guide my student to her full potential."

A/N: Upcoming next is finally on a certain hitman's birthday. While sometimes your hardest isn't enough, for some it is even if it doesn't feel like it. Also, for the upcoming chapter, I'll be switching up the POV for the whole chapter then switch it back to the usual for the next, next chapter. Until next time, LaniAhava out!
