Seeing Santa

A/N: my first FT holiday story. I hope you all like it.

Wendy was all smiles as she was tramping through the snow. She was all decked out in her winter coat, hat, gloves and boots. She turned back to find Natsu walking behind her with his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"Come on Natsu" she called.

"Coming Wendy" Natsu said.

Now Natsu was taking Wendy to see Santa. Wendy so wanted to go, but her mother Grandeeney was busy so she asked Natsu. Natsu was more than happy to take Wendy since the two were like brother and sister.

Natsu caught up to a happy Wendy and took her hand since they were entering a more busy part of town.

"Now stay close to me" he said.

"Don't worry, I will" Wendy said bobbing her head.

Natsu just nodded, but made a mental note to keep a good close eye on Wendy just in case. He knew he could easily lose her in the crowd they'd be in.

They made their way closer to the heart of town where Santa was set up with a Happy Winter Hollow with lights, real reindeer, and elves. There were vendors there to sale their wares along with food trucks so those there could have something hot to eat.

"Oh my, so many people" Wendy exclaimed.

"No need to worry Wendy, I'm here" Natsu said as he gave Wendy's gloved hand a squeeze.

Wendy looked up at Natsu smiling big. She felt a surge of confidence with her big brother Natsu by her side. She a very shy girl and didn't like big crowds really. She had a few friends due to her shyness too.

"Now lets get you to see Santa" Natsu said.

"Yay!" Wendy cheered.

Natsu led the way as he held Wendy's hand. Wendy did her best to keep up and it was hard as they got closer. Not to mention she had to try and get on her tiptoes to even see anything in front of her.

"Natsu" she murmured.

Natsu saw the trouble Wendy was having and picked her up and got her on his shoulders.

"There, now lets go" he said.

"Yeah" Wendy said happily on her perch.

They finally made it to the line that all the kids were in for their turn with Santa. Wendy looked a bit scared since she would be alone with kids she didn't know.

"Don't worry, I'll be right beside you" Natsu said sensing Wendy's fear.

Wendy nodded as she took a deep breath trying to well up some courage. She got in line and Natsu stood by her. He noticed there were other parents doing the same for their kids so it appeared there was no problem with it. The line moved slowly, but efficiently. Natsu stayed by Wendy's side and then in about a half hour they finally got to the front. Wendy was nervous and felt the urge to bail, but Natsu kept her calm. When it was her turn she shakily made her way up the short set up steps to the giant stage that Santa was on sitting in a chair with his elves beside him.

"Ho-ho-ho, come here little girl and sit on Santa's lap" Santa said in a jolly tone.

Wendy sat on Santa's lap and looked at him.

"Well little one, what's your name and what would you like for Christmas?" Santa asked.

"Um, well, My name is Wendy Marvell and I'd like to be with my big brother forever" Wendy said quietly.

"Oh, and is that your brother there?" Santa asked gesturing over to Natsu.

"Yeah it is" Wendy said nodding her head.

"Well Wendy, I can do that" Santa said.

"You can?" Wendy asked with hope in her eyes.

"Yes I can. You can count on it" Santa said with a smile.

"Thanks Santa" Wendy said and hugged him.

Santa smiled and hugged Wendy. They got a picture taken and then Wendy got off Santa and walked over to where Natsu was waiting.

"So what did you ask for from Santa?" Natsu asked taking Wendy's hand.

"For us to be together forever" Wendy said.

Natsu just smiled.
