Chloe rubbed a wet cloth over Beca's face, while the vampire stared off into space. Chloe had wondered if vampires could go into shock, and assumed that was it was. Chloe had cleaned the girl up, wiped away any blood and changed her clothing with her magic. She didn't want her girlfriend to sit in anything that would remind her of what had happened.

The full vampire was still stunned over the death of Jesse. She hadn't muttered a single word, a dazed look on her face. Chloe, Stacie and Emily had tried to break her out of her head, but the vampire was lost. And Chloe couldn't blame her. From the look of things, she knew Beca had seen the death of the werewolf. She had seen him die.

Chloe wasn't sure what had really happened, but she knew that Jesse had tried to help Beca. He cared for her, and he died trying to save her. And Chloe wondered about the guilt. How much more could Beca take before it became too much? She had to live with the death of her mother, and now the death of a friend.

Chloe sat down next to her girlfriend and grabbed her hand. "You're safe. You're going to be okay."

"Jesse's dead, and it's all my fault," Beca said in a small voice.

The witch didn't say anything. She just pulled Beca into her arms and held her. She made sure the vampire's head was over her chest, listening to the heartbeat. Beca relaxed a little.

"You aren't alone," Chloe whispered, running her hand through the vampire's hair. "You aren't going to be alone."

My Little Heart

Beca struggle against the chains holding her back while she watched Jesse's father pull the young werewolf's head back, exposing his neck. "No! Please, don't do this! Please!" The older werewolf placed the knife on Jesse's neck and smiled at her. "Don't hurt him. Kill me! Please leave him alone!"

"Just remember, this is your fault."

Jesse looked into Beca's eyes and gave her a small smile. "It's okay Beca. It's okay." He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, prepared for what was about to happen.

"No! Jesse!" She screamed, watching as he sliced open Jesse's neck. The blood poured out, and Jesse's body fell forward.. "Jesse! No!"

Beca jerked, having fallen asleep. She didn't remember the last time she slept, and she didn't know if she wanted to do that again. She felt so weak, so tired, so hurt. She had never felt so exhausted as a vampire. She didn't even know if it was possible. All she knew was that she was tired.

Tired of hurting. Tired of losing people. Tired of everything. She was just tired.

Beca sat on the couch, thinking of the last few days, before tensing up. After the kidnapping she had forgotten about the poisoning. She was so consumed with the thought that she was going to die in the hands of James, she forgot about the real reason she was still going to die.

She pushed herself up. She needed to contact her father, and fast. She couldn't leave him without saying goodbye.

My Little Heart

Beca breathed deeply, feeling all the tension of the last few days. She watched as Emily paced in front of her.

"He should be here," she muttered, her hand running through her hair. Her eyes shining with unshed tears. She looked ready to panic. "What's keeping him?" Before Beca could tell her anything, the young halfling's phone started to ring. She quickly grabbed her phone and looked at the contact. "It's mom." She answered her phone. "Where's dad? Beca's home." The smile on the girl's face started to leave her face, as she turned to look at Beca. The older vampire pushed herself up, "Please tell me that's not true." Tears started to stream down Emily's face.

"Em?" Beca whispered, watching her baby sister cry in front of her.

"We'll be there," Emily said into the phone, before letting it fall to the ground. She started to sob, and Benji quickly rushed to wrap his arms around her. He held her up as she cried in his arms.

"Em-" Something suddenly hit Beca. Her eyes went to Chloe. "I-I don't feel sick Why don't I feel sick?"

The red head shook her head. "No. Stacie is still researching, why? Are you okay?"

"I-I don't, I-" She turned to Emily, seeing how her younger sister was staring at her, giving her a nod. Beca pushed herself off the couch. "We have to go home now."

My Little Heart

Chloe helped Beca as they walked into the Mitchell residence. She turned back to see Benji have his arm around Emily, and Stacie and Aubrey walking behind him. Chloe turned to her girlfriend, who seemed lost in thought since leaving her apartment.

"Beca!" Chloe quickly turned to see Emily's mother rushed to the younger full vampire and hugged her. She looked the girl over, making sure she was okay. "I'm so glad you're okay. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you."

Beca looked at the woman, her eyes shining. "Thank you."

"Where's dad?" Emily asked, looking around, her eyes wide and wild.

The smile left Emily's mother's face. She looked back, before leading them to the living room, where Mr. Mitchell sat. He was pale, and seemed sick. Beca took a step forward, looking down at her father. "D-daddy."

In all the months she had known her, Chloe had never heard Beca's voice crack in such a way. Not even when Emily got sick. The girl looked utterly broken. Beca pushed away, walking towards her father. The man raised his hand to her. Beca walked to him, and fell to her knees, her hand gripping his.

Emily moved to be near her father, leaning into him. "Dad?"

Chloe watched Beca's body tremble as she stared at her father. She looked to her side and saw everyone just standing there. No one was saying anything. They couldn't say anything. They could only watch as the two girls shared a final moment with their father.

The man smiled at them, his eyes going from one girl to the other.

"Wh-why?" Beca asked, her tears streaming down her face.

He just smiled. "I have lived my life. I got two happy endings. I got two great daughters. I've done everything I could have done in life. I'm okay with letting go to let you live your life."

"B-but it's too soon. Why is it so fast?" Beca asked, looking so lost and confused.

Her father gave her a smile. "I asked for it to be quick. I didn't want you to watch me die for a long time. This way, you can't reverse it. I've accepted my death."

"N-no, daddy? Please, Daddy, I need you," she heard Beca cry. Chloe closed her eyes, trying to stop her tears. She could hear Emily cry into her mother's shirt.

Dr. Mitchell raised his hand and placed it on his oldest daughter's shoulder. "I love you," he whispered, before looking at Emily. "Both of you."

"Y-you can't leave me! I can't lose you too! Please, don't leave me. Please, I'm sorry Daddy, please. I need you. Please," Beca begged, as she gripped his hand.

"I'm so proud of you. Of everything you ever did. I'm so proud of the woman you have become. Your mom would have been so proud of you."

"Don't leave me alone," Beca whispered, closing her eyes.

Chloe watched as Emily fell to her knees next to Beca and gripped their hands. "I love you."

"My beautiful girls," he whispered. He let out a breath, and then his body went limp.

"No. No!" Beca screamed, as she reached over and tried to shake him awake. "Dad! Come back! You can't leave me! You promised! Daddy! Please."

Emily quickly wrapped her arms around her sister and held her as she cried.

Chloe could hear the others crying around her.

My Little Heart

"Beca?" Chloe questioned, taking a step toward the girl. Beca had left the house and hadn't walked back in. Benji was trying to console Emily, while Stacie and Aubrey handled her mother.

The vampire turned, her eyes holding so much pain and anger.

"People I care about are dying," Beca whispered, "and it's all my fault."

"No it's not," Chloe told her, shaking her head. She could feel her own heartbreak in her chest.

"My mom, Jesse, my dad, they are all dead! Emily almost died! Because of me! Don't tell me it's not my fault," Beca snapped, her face filled with rage.

Chloe stared at her for a second. "They all cared about you. They'd sacrifice anything for you, because they knew you were worth it. Beca, don't let this keep you from being happy."

"I spent so much time hating him, and now he's gone. We just finally made up and he's dead. It's not fair. Why do I have to keep losing people?"

Chloe walked to the girl and wrapped her arms around her. "I don't know. But you're never losing me. I promise."

Beca leaned into her girlfriend. She closed her eyes.

"I just want my mom and dad back."

Chloe didn't say anything. She just rubbed the girl's back, letting her release any emotions she was holding in.

Chloe just hoped she'd be able to help Beca and Emily through their time in need. It was all she could do.

My Little Heart

Before

Dr. Mitchell stood in front of the witch doctor's building. He held the teddy bear he had given his daughter shortly after her birth. It was the one thing they both cherished without telling the other.

He had to save his daughter. He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. His daughters were what were most important to him and nothing would ever change that.

He finally really understood why his first wife did it. He now knew the need to do it. He had to do it.

His daughter was meant for great things, and he wanted to make sure she achieved whatever she wanted in life. She deserved a happy ending, a family, just like he did. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't do it.

He took a deep breath and entered the building. He heard a ding. He looked around and made eye contact with the owner. He had to do it. He just did.

The woman looked at him, and she knew. He had it written all over his face.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

He gave her a nod. "I have to."

He sat down in front of the woman and closed his eyes. He let the woman do the work, before stopping her.

"If I do this, there is no going back. I can feel the poison. It's been passed down before. I can extend the time, if you would like."

He shook his head. "No. I don't wish to draw it out."

The doctor nodded. He thought of his daughter as the woman worked. He thought of what her future would hold. He thought about his first mate. He thought about the time he held his daughter for the first time.

He had found his happy ending twice. All he wanted to make sure she got hers. No matter what.
