I do not own…

Many centuries have passed since Vlad had turned into a vampire and lost his family. Over the years he had hoped to see his late wife reincarnation and continued on living forever with her. Sadly he found her but it didn't turn out well and she left him. This did not stop him from living on though. Throughout the years he continued on with his life. For many years he had been with many different women in the past, but they were never serious. He had a successful life but at times he did serve in the war, as he was a warrior at heart and couldn't let that go. Life was good for him, until he got word from another vampire that his master was looking for him when he was in America. Things got bad and it changed him even more. Not only did he change but as did the world as a new threat happened. The dead had walked and now had taken over the glob. The dead ate those that are alive but they never came near him. He had no heartbeat, no scent and no pulse after all.

He was pretty much oh his own with nothing but a bag of clothes, a few blades and his old sword strapped to his back. Since he was a vampire he rarely used them as he could easily kill them with his hands. The only reason he kept it around was to remind him of his past. He fed on animals once a while but when he passed by humans he would feed on those with dark souls. With how the world is now, humans started to get more dangerous when there's no law and order anymore.

It was so quiet when it was just him. He was used to being alone but truthfully he actually missed the noises or at least someone to talk to. Some groups that he had saved in the past few weeks sometimes ask him to stay but he always declines. Deep down, he really wanted to but he knew it couldn't happen as they would be frightened of him. He was tired of being alone.

Tired of hiding.

Tired of worrying about what others will think of him.

He wanted a companion but the last time he turned someone they couldn't be controlled. The thirst always wins in the end and that's when they lose control of who they were.

While walking in the woods he heard screams. With his eyes he was able to see where the screams were coming from. It was a camp that was just over runned by Walkers and had already eaten some of the humans. When he got closer to look at the scene he saw a woman protecting a little boy from the dead with a bat. She had a dog with her to help her but it wasn't enough. No longer able to stand by, Vlad hurried down and saved them. When one got near the woman Vlad grabbed the dead being by the back of its shirt and took out a blade before stabbing it in the head. He threw the same blade at the one that was close to the boy and hit it between its eyes. After unsheathing his sword, he took out another blade before he ran towards the pack and attacked them by himself. Fifthteen minutes later he took them all down.

"Are you two alright?" He asked

"Yes. Th-Thank you." She said with a southern accent. "Thank you for saving us."

The woman looked to be in her late twenties with long black hair, blue eyes and a light tan skin. She looked normal but her scent told him differently. There was something different about her. She almost smelled just like him.

Vlad nodded and looked around.

"Wasn't there someone on watch?" Vlad asked

The woman's around with glaring eyes as she was fuming.

"Steve...that fucker!" She shouted "He was supposed to be on watch! Where is he?"

She looked around trying to look for the man but didn't see him. Vlad looked down at the boy that stayed with the pitbull dog. He hasn't been around kids since his late son so he was a bit out of practice. The boy just stared at him with a curious look but didn't say anything, he couldn't be no older than 7. He had feathery black hair with the same blue eyes and light tan skin. He too smelled like the woman and he knew that he was her son. Vlad gave him a small kind smile before looking around and searching for anyone living. A few miles he saw two people out there packing things in a car.

"There are two people down that way." Vlad said

Vlad showed the woman and boy where these two people were. They were a man and a woman and by the look on the southern woman's face this was the man she was talking about.

"Come on we have to hurry before the rotters come this way." The other woman said as she packed the box.

The man Steve looked nervous and a bit guilty.

"I can't believe I just left them there." Steve said

The woman shut the trunk and turned around to cup his face.

"She didn't love like I do. This was the only way we could be together." She said "You still love me right?"

Steve hesitated at first but nodded.

The woman smiled and kissed him passionately. When they break apart, her eyes widen in fear when she sees them. Steve quickly turned around and his face turned pale.

"Alice." Steve whimpered

"You son of bitch." Alice glared before yelling. "You left us, your WIFE and SON to die for this whore!"

"Baby, look I…I…" Steve stutter

Alice took out a pistol gun and shot them. She shot Steve in the leg twice and shot the woman in the shoulder and leg.

"You fucking psycho!" The woman cried

Vlad looked over his shoulder to see why Alice did that. The dead were around and were now heading their way because of the gun shots. Alice grabbed her son's hand and they all walked down hill as she still aimed at them and headed towards the car. Then she walked up to Steve and grabbed the keys that he dropped on the ground next to him. He tried to grab them but she let out another shot to scare him away, which it did and grabbed the keys.

"Chris, honey get in the car." Alice said "Would you like a ride, pal?"

Vlad thought about it and nodded. He helped Chris and the dog inside the car before waiting by the passenger door.

"You're just gonna leave us here?" Steve glared as he held his leg wound.

"Just like how you were about to leave us to die. How does it feel asshole?" Alice said

She took off her wedding ring and threw it to the ground.

"See you in hell, fucker." She muttered before getting in the driver's side.

"Alice! Alice, you can't leave me here!" Steve shouted

He tried to get himself up and limp towards them. Vlad just glared at the man. He wanted to kill the man for what he was planning on doing to his wife and son. Letting them die so he could be with another woman, it disgusted him.

"Are you sure you don't want to kill him?" He asked after getting in, with her.

"Shooting him is too much of a quick death for him. He doesn't deserve mercy after what he did. There's a much curler fate that awaits him now with those wounds." She said as she turned on the car and drove off.

Vlad smirked a little at her words as it was true. He looked into the rearview mirror and saw Steve and the woman limping away from the dead that were now on the road and chasing after them.

No one had said a word after what had happened. Chris had fallen asleep in the back with the pitbull and the two adults just kept quiet. Vlad had glanced at her from time to time as a few tears fell down her cheek. She was trying so hard to hold everything in. After a few hours of driving Alice had finally pulled over.

"I'm sorry I got you into that." She said

"Well if you didn't, I probably would have got involved either way." He said "He was a coward and a fool."

It was quiet for a few minutes.

"You know, we've been driving for a few hours and I still haven't learned your name yet." She said calmly

He smiled a little.

"My apologies, my lady." He said "My name is Vlad Tepes."

She looked at him with a brow raised with his choice of words.

"Did you just say, My Lady?" She asked "Where exactly are you from?"

"A very long way from here." He chuckled with a smile.

His smile seemed to be contagious as she couldn't help but smile herself.

"Alice Dixon. It used to be Alice Conner but after what happened I'm going back to my maiden name." She said "So should we see what those fuckers stole."

Vlad nodded and the two stepped out of the car and opened the trunk. There was some clothes, food, water, a few camping equipment, a few guns with ammo, and gas cans. What truly pissed her off was that they stole her silver box that was her late mothers'. It had a few pictures in it, along with a few golden rings, a necklace and a small silver pocket knife. Everything that belonged to her mothers'.

"That bitch tried to take off with my mothers' jewelry." She muttered

She took out the pocket knife and in her boot.

"So how well did you know those people you were camping with?" Vlad asked

"About two weeks before everything shut down." She said and looked at him with a nervous look. "Look...um...we were planning on heading to Atlanta. I heard that the CDC was working on a cure there. I was hoping that I could find my brothers there. If you want...you can join us." She said

Vlad looked at her in surprise as he didn't suspect her to ask that. In truth he really didn't have a plan in finding anyone or had anyplace to go.

"That's a very big risk you're asking. You're asking a man that you barely know to join you" He said "Why?"

"Because if you were going to kill us or anything, you've done it by now. Besides...my gut instincts are telling me that I can trust you and they have never been wrong." She replied "I'll understand if you don't want to and look…"

"Actually...I wouldn't mind. I'm not looking for anyone or anything." He said "I've been on my own for so long that I wouldn't mind some company."

She looked at him with an amused look.

"Really no girlfriend or anything you want to find." She asked

"Most of the women I've been with were just flings, nothing more. There are my Marines buddies but I lost contact with them a while back." He said "I wouldn't mind the company. And you could use the extra eyes to watch for danger."

He looked to the side of the road where he heard more of the dead heading their way. To his surprise she looked that way too and saw how tense she became.

"We should get going." He said

She nodded in agreement before closing the trunk. The two hurry back in the car and drove off before the dead saw them.

They continued on driving till the sun was about to set. The two knew that they needed to find a place to stay before it gets dark. Vlad looked around the town that they were in and found a place for them to sleep in. It was a small theater but Vlad was able to make it secured and got rid of the dead that were inside. After dragging the dead bodies outside they grabbed everything in the car and placed them inside the theater, just in case. Vlad checked the fuse box to turn a few of the lights inside on only. They were able to gather some supplies that were still inside the place, like snacks, drinks and to their greatest luck toilet paper. Once they settled in a theater room Vlad went upstairs to check what movies they had. He noticed that the little boy, Chris, was still shook up after what happened so he wanted to try to cheer him up. So far he found Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 1 and Iron Man 2. He knew the boy was into superheroes with the toys that he played with and the supernatural books Alice had for him so he thought these would be good.

After getting the projector to work in the theater he placed on Iron Man 2 first. When he came back into the theater room he smiled when he saw Chris sitting on the floor with his mom and the dog watching the screen with wide eyes. Alice had the sleeping bags, pillows and blankets laid out with the drinks and snacks that they found. Vlad sat down next to them and tried to watch the screen while keeping an ear out for danger.

"Thank you for the distraction." She whispered

"I think we all needed it. Has he said a word yet?" He asked in a hush voice.

She shook her head in sadness.

The poor boy hasn't said a word since the attack and they were both worried.

They watched the three movies that he chose for Chris and even though he still hasn't said a word yet he was smiling the whole time. When he went to sleep the two adults still stayed up, somewhat watching Cop Out while having a light conversation.

"So tell me...what are you?" She asked

Right now they were laying down on their sleeping bags.

"What do you mean?" He asked, trying to play dumb.

"You came out of nowhere when you saved us. You're fast. See things for miles. How?" She asked calmly

"I don't think you're ready to know. Or that you might think I'm crazy." He said

"Actually...I might relate. Ever since I could remember I always had inheighted senses. Fast reflexes and agility. A little stronger than any other human. I never understood it all, just tried to hide it all from others." She replied "I just thought...maybe you're like me. I was hoping maybe you knew why I'm like this."

Vlad looked at her as he too didn't know what she was. Her scent smells almost like his kind but he could smell more human in her veins than vampire.

"I am what humans' call a vampire." He said, letting his eyes glow red for a few seconds.

Alice tensed at that but her inner instincts told her that she could trust him still. He was surprised that she didn't run away.

"You have a little vampire blood inside you but not truly. I really don't know what you are. Maybe some kind of Hybrid of our kind." He shrugged

"My mama said that her family always had special blood in us. I never expect that but...it does somewhat make sense." She said

A yawn escaped from her as sleep was taken over her.

"It's alright, you should sleep." He said "I promise, I'll be here when you wake up."

"You better be. I don't want to hunt you down and kill you." She smirked

He lightly chuckled at her teasing tone and nodded. Unknown to her, he could never find himself to leave her. Finally he found the companions that he was searching for. He could never leave them.
