"Hi," was all Jay managed to say to his sister.

Lydia turned her head to look at her oldest brother, "Hi Will."

Will lifted his head and looked at Lydia, "Hi Lydia. We never thought we would see you again." Jay nodded in agreement, bringing both his hands to hold his sister's small one, "I am so happy you are alive. I can't stop blaming myself for what happened. If I never left, god, this is all my fault."

Lydia shook her head, "No, Jay."

"Yeah it is. This never would have happened if I had stayed."

"What about me? I am the oldest and I left both of you by yourselves after mom died. I should have stayed and watched over you two."

"Not your fault, either of you." Lydia said before she started coughing. Will handed her a glass with water and told her to take small sips.

"Don't try to speak. You have been through a lot and you need to let your body heal. It is going to take time." Will said.

"I'm fine." She replied after handing Will back the cup.

"Your brother is right, Miss Halstead, you need to rest and relax." Dr. Rhodes said as he walked back in the room, "Don't overexert yourself. We want to get you healthy, not have you stay here any longer than absolutely necessary."

"Okay." She started to cough again, and Will grabbed the water glass.

"Now I must ask you some important questions, do you want your brothers to stay here or leave the room?"

"They can stay." She said softly as the water soothed her throat.

"If you don't want to answer just shake your head and if you can answer, keep the answer as short as possible." Lydia nodded. "Alright, are you having any pain anywhere right now?"

"My side." Lydia said as she moved her hand to her right side, "My head."

"Okay. I will tell a nurse to get some medication for the pain. This next one might be awkward okay? Do you remember if Jace ever forced himself on you?"

Lydia looked down at her hands and didn't answer.

"Miss Halstead?"

She looked at Connor and her brothers and tried to swallow the sob that was about to come out. She couldn't say anything, so she just nodded.

"Did it happen more than once?" she nodded again, "How many times did it happen?" Connor asked. Lydia shook her head rapidly from side to side, "You don't know?"

Lydia lifted her head and looked Connor right in the eyes and replied, "I lost count," before dropping her head and playing with the tubes taped to her hands.

Jay stood up and walked out of the room with his fists clenched so tight, his knuckles were turning white.

Erin jumped up from her seat beside Natalie and stepped in front of Jay, "What happened?"

"He forced himself on her so many times she lost count. What kind of monster does that?"

"Exactly the kind you said Jay, a monster. Jace is a monster who should be put away for a very long time. Remember, Lydia wasn't the only one he did this too. I just talked to Voight. He had Kim show a picture of Jace to Sara and she made a positive ID. He did this to at least two young girls, he is going to go away for a very long time, but we have to stay calm right now. He will get what is coming to him, I promise you."

Before Jay could reply, Adam stepped off the elevator and walked towards his fellow detectives.

"Jace just went into surgery. He took a bullet to the chest and they are trying to repair everything so he can be questioned."

"Why?"

Adam looked past Erin and Jay and saw Will standing outside Lydia's room. "Why what?" he asked the doctor.

"Why are they trying to save him? After what he did to my sister he deserves to die." Will said with a stone cold look on his face.

"We all feel that way right now, Doc, but don't you want him to pay for what he did?"

"He can go to hell for all I care. He was my best friend; how could he do this to her? How could he do this period?"

"That is what we need to find out, Will. We need to have him alive to question him or we will never know. Don't you want closure?"

"I couldn't care less. I just want my sister to be okay."

Natalie walked up her him, "She will be. Connor is taking great care as her doctor and she has you and Jay by her side. Everything is going to be okay."

"I need some time." Will said, and he walked away; punching the wall as enter the elevator.

Connor then walked out of the room, talking to Sydney who was the nurse assigned to Lydia, "I want to get her some medication for the pain she is having, so please get that in an IV drip. I also want to do an x-ray of her side again, I want to see if we missed anything. If that doesn't show anything we need to do a ultrasound. Also, could you run a rape kit on her please?"

"Sure thing. I will get the IV drip started right away and run the kit. I will call up to radiology when I am done with the kit so they don't come while I am running it."

"Thank you, Sydney." The nurse nodded as she headed towards the nurse's station.

Connor stopped next to the group of four people, "She is asking for you, Jay. Well, you and Will, but you should go in there and I will try to find Will. Nat, which way did he go?"

Natalie motioned for Connor to follow her on the path she knew would lead to Will.

Jay took a deep breath before looking back at his sister's room, "We are going to have to question her for the report."

"We will find someone to do that. Adam can you call Voight and see if Kim would be able to handle it?"

"No problem, Erin." I will let you know when I find out who will be coming up to take her statement." Adam took out his phone and stepped to the other end of the room to make the call.

Erin looked at Jay, "Do you want me to come with you this time since Will isn't here?"

"If you don't mind."

"Of course I don't mind, Jay. This is your sister. Of course I will come with you."

The two walked towards Lydia's room and opened the curtain.

"Where did you go?" her soft voice said from the bed.

"Uh, I needed to step out. I couldn't listen you the answers to the questions Dr. Rhodes was asking you. If I stayed I most likely would have done something that scared you."

Lydia tilted her head as to say, 'what do you mean?'

"He would have done something like this again." Erin said as she held up Jay's injured hand from earlier that day. "This is what he did after we sort of had an idea of what Jace was doing to you." Jay rolled his eyes and snatched his hand back from Erin.

"Who are you?" Lydia asked.

"Sorry, my name is Erin. I am Jay's partner in the Intelligence unit."

"Oh. Hi."

"Hi, Lydia. It is nice to meet you."

They lapsed into silence when Sydney came to put in the IV, "Could you two please step out while I perform the kit please." Jay and Erin nodded and stepped out of the room as Sydney pulled the door and curtain closed behind her.

They sat in a couple of chairs and waited patiently for Sydney to be done. Before they could get back in the room Sydney has rushed out and called radiology to let them know they were on their way up right away. She must have also paged Dr. Rhodes because he came running from the hallway to Lydia's room. Jay got up and rushed towards the room. Connor must have heard him coming because before Jay could enter the room, Connor pushed him back out.

"What is going on?" Jay yelled.

"We don't know. Sydney was starting to do the kit and Lydia screamed out in pain. It was her side. There are no cuts or bruises in the area where she says it is hurting so we are taking her up for an emergency ultrasound. It must be something inside that is bothering her. You need to step back and let us do our job." Connor shut the door in Jay's face and went back to helping his patient.

Jay felt Erin grab his arm and pull him back to the chair. He tried to stand and follow when they brought her out to take her to radiology but Erin, with the help of Adam, kept him in the seat. He felt helpless. His sister was just there talking to him, and now she was screaming in pain, screaming for him, and he didn't know how to help her.
