A/N: Since I left it kind of in a cliffhanger, I thought I'd post this early. This chapter starts off too supernatural-ly before taking off into a tech-y direction (then veering off into the mature section)...but bare with it ok?

First Hack

Kaito moaned as he struggles to open his eyes. He knew he was lying on something soft and fluffy, a sensation he suspects is like lying on a bed of cloud. He opened his eyes a sliver to find the light too bright for his liking. Slowly, became more aware of his surroundings, starting with the playful cooes and chirps from nearby wildlife. Then there was the slight breeze he could feel on his skin that was not covered by the soft material. He could smell a fresh scent in the air, something so familiar yet so unrecognisable. There were also sounds of bells chiming a strange random tune in the distance.

Making up his mind, Kaito decided he could no longer hide and decided to actually wake up. He was greeted with a rather heavenly setting. The room he was in was done in a rather tropical style, with rattan furniture and large leafy greens in the corner. Above him hung a slow turning fan, providing a gentle breeze. The bed he was lying on was covered in bright white cotton fabric, soft and smooth to the touch. He turned towards the window to see a wind chime hanging at the corner creating a melodious sound. Several white doves sat on the balcony railings, looking at Kaito with their beady eyes. They flew off once Kaito directed his attention to them. The only thing Kaito could see outside of the window from his position was the colour blue, from deep blue to a light sky blue hue.

"Where am I?" He could not help but ask the empty room. He remembered being shot at and quickly looked at himself to find his clothes had changed to a pure white cotton v-neck shirt with matching loose fitting trousers. He lifted up the material to find no traces of a wound. "Am I dead?"

Carefully, he extracted himself from the large king-size double bed and the mountain of pillows that he had been lying on. The floor at least felt cold and Kaito believed himself to be still alive, even though his current predicament largely resembles what he things Heaven would be like.

"Well, no time like the present." He decided some exploration was in order. Slipping on the pair of grass woven slippers, he walked quietly out of the unlocked room.

Kaito realised the room he had been in was actually at the end of a rather empty corridor, with only two more doors to either side. Downstairs, things took on a more modern turn, though still retaining that tropical hut feel. On the left of the staircase opened up to a large living room with a widescreen TV on one wall and floor-to-ceiling veranda doors leading out towards a backyard with a large tree and an accompanying swing. In front of the stairs was an airy foyer with a large wooden door separating the outside and in. To the right is a large open kitchen with marble finishes on the counters and a large wooden bench that seems to act as a a dining kitchen. Set up on the large bench were a series of monitors with accompanying workstations. A pair of legs could be seen sticking underneath the table as a hand reached out towards a white mug on the side. But more importantly, Kaito recognised the little tuft of hair sticking out from behind the monitors.

"Shinichi?" Kaito approached slowly with weariness.

"Kaito!" Shinichi bolted upwards, nearly spilling his mug in the process. He rounded the bench and began patting Kaito down to check for injuries. "I didn't hurt you did I? How do you feel? Nauseous? Aches?"

"Where are we?" Kaito decided to ignore Shinichi's rather frantic questioning to his health. He was thoroughly confused as to how he arrived here when the last he remembered was being shot at, by his detective.

"Um...well…" Shinichi stepped back, hugging his forearms in the process. It was a gesture Shinichi often used when unsure or afraid. Kaito levelled a glare at Shinichi, wanting desperately to know the reason behind his forceful extraction. Under his intense gaze, Shinichi gave in. "It's...We're in Hawaii right now. I was going to bring you to Okinawa but it was still too close to danger for my liking so I thought our family getaway outside of Japan would be a good hideout and we managed to sneak away using a private jet and all, and my parents and even Chikage-san wanted to make sure we're all set and everything and…"

"Stop." Kaito held up his hand. Shinichi's ramblings were not uncommon, though rare as it is as his detective tends to be concise with his words. However, whenever he becomes nervous, he exhibits the same tendencies as Kaito, which was to ramble on. "Are you telling me we're not in Japan anymore."

"Um...yes?" Shinichi looked extremely fearful for a moment and Kaito was quite sure it was because of his stern tone of voice.

"And you thought it was a good idea to bring me here because…?"

"You staying with Rum was dangerous and we wanted to get you out…?" Why his detective phrased it as a question was something unfathomable to Kaito.

"I was making good progress undercover, he didn't suspect me of anything and I was in a good position to pass on information. Why did you think it was a good idea to remove me then? When I was a good source of intel?" He demanded, stepping closer to Shinichi.

He must have frightened his detective for Shinichi took a fearful step back. Kaito was quickly brought out of his anger when he looked at those uncertain blue eyes and saw a reflection of himself. He sighed heavily before bringing Shinichi into a close hug.

"I know I should be thankful for you setting up that ploy and all. But you shouldn't have done it in the first place. I was going to escape and I was in a good place." He patted the smooth hair in hopes of soothing his detective. He felt the tense body relaxed in his arms after several runs of his hand. "Now we don't have anything to work from."

"But I don't want you to stay there. I don't like the idea of you being under Rum's thumb." Shinichi mumbled on his shoulder. Shinichi being this child-like had scared Kaito a little, he feared that it was a relapse of some sort. "It was becoming more dangerous and I don't want to risk you."

"I had everything under control." Kaito pulled away to look straight into Shinichi's eyes, which still showed clarity. He sighed in relief, though it was likely taken as a different meaning by Shinichi, "I just wish you'd be a little more trusting of me."

"I'm sorry." Shinichi pulled away further from Kaito, "I just...I just…"

Kaito sighed once more, he was doing that with more frequency in the past ten minutes, he wondered why his detective was acting all meek and uncertain all of a sudden. He wanted the old, cocky, self-absorbed and overly confident detective back; the witty detective who was unafraid of everything. And yet, Kaito feels that his detective's sudden change in character was all because of his disappearance.

"Shinichi, what has you all scared all of a sudden." Kaito theorized there was more to his disappearance that spooked the detective. He must have noticed something out of the ordinary for him to suddenly up and leave Japan where everything was happening.

Shinichi bit his lower lips, bruising it with his teeth. Kaito reached out to smooth away the lips in the hopes of stopping his detective from falling into a nervous habit. It was a long wait but Shinichi finally spoke with an uncertain voice.

"It's...I just...There's a lot going on in Tokyo and...there's…" He glanced over at the table where the monitors were set up. Taking the cue, Kaito walked over to look at the monitors themselves. There were various windows shown on the monitors, mostly CCTV footage. There were ones that captured the interior of the Kudo Mansion, several on the exterior of his own house, there were numerous on their apartments. They were all very much normal except for the fact that both Kaito and Shinichi were sure they swept for bugs and cameras every other day at their apartment. They only planted two cameras in their apartment, the one over the front door and the other over the balcony. These footage, however, showed the interior setting over the dining room and their bedroom.

"Vermouth had mentioned they put surveillance on us." Kaito remembered the woman commenting on it, how they saw everything. "So I'm not too surprised at the presence of cameras, though the location is a bit of a shock." The camera was directly overlooking their bed, something that irked Kaito a lot.

"It's not only that." Shinichi shook, walking closer before clicking on the mouse to reveal several more different screens. This time showed footage of the Mouri Agency, the Professor's house, Aoko's house and the Hakuba mansion. There were also still shots of the TMPD HQ, Poirot cafe, and several other locations they often visit. All of them were taken quite recently by the looks of it.

Kaito frowned, "how had they managed this? Or more specifically, how did you come by this?"

"There's more." The impending words from Shinichi chilled Kaito to the bone. He brought up another folder of picture files labeled with numbers. Starting from the first listed file, Shinichi quickly ran through them in slideshow mode. They were photos of their parents travelling abroad, of them boarding planes and walking about the town. There were quite a few of his mother enjoying a show and more still of Shinichi's parents enjoying the sunlight. Then there were numerous others consisting of themselves interacting with their friends, of hanging out together. All of them indicates they were taken from a distance, at high angles.

"I didn't want to believe it at first but I checked it over with my parents. I have a feeling that we've been compromised." Shinichi slumped into the seat, "I didn't think 'tou-san would allow a stalker at his tail and he's been trying to spot them now that he knows about it. I'm trying to backtrace their route to see who owns these cameras. The majority inside our house in Beika are actually our own cameras, but there were traces of them being hacked and streamed elsewhere…"

"So you, no our parents, decided that Hawaii is the best place for relocation?" Kaito knew he should be more shocked, more alarmed by the fact that even with the amount of caution they used, they were still tracked and tailed without them knowing. "You know, these pictures looks suspiciously familiar…"

Shinichi perked up slightly, no longer looking as though a great weight was on his shoulders.

"Hm…" Kaito ignored the hopeful looks from Shinichi, as though he held all the answers to the world. "I hate to say bad things about our fellow law enforcement officers, but these angles look disturbingly similar to the ones I've seen on the PSB boards." He tapped at the several images from Japan.

"It could be someone hacked through…" Shinichi sounded unsure, though no doubt in his mind that the detective himself did not believe the words he spoke.

Instead of replying, Kaito flipped through to the non-Japan based images. There was one of his mother sitting in the middle row at a magic performance, another one of her entering a casino with a friend that Kaito did not recognise, a third had her staring straight at the camera and Kaito had to wonder whether she did that on purpose or was her Phantom Lady instincts kicking it. He had to call to ask, but before then he had to clear up another question he had in his mind.

"Ok, ignoring the bad feeling you've been having and the strangely blackmail-like images you're intercepting…"

"Wait, what did you say?" Shinichi's blue eyes widened comically, "say that again."

"The bad feeling or the blackmail part?"

"That's it!" Shinichi launched himself, strangely overly happy, at Kaito. "That's it! You're a genius!"

"Um...thanks?" Thoroughly confused Kaito lowered the pair of them onto a nearby seat.

"There was no way I should have access like this right? It's planted by Them." There was a sense of excitement running through Shinichi all of a sudden. It literally created a buzz in the air. He moved the keyboard closer to him, fingers flying through the keys as they brought up the another screen. White words scrolled at a quick pace as the staccato of typing increased. Kaito recognised a few of the command lines, mostly accessing remote folders and feeds.

"What are you up to now?" He could not help be ask. His detective had always been better at science and technology than he was. Although Shinichi was not as agile in creating hardware, he makes for it by being a wizard at coding.

"Instead of actually tracing the destination of these feeds, I'm tracing the route."

"Aren't they the same?" His mind was beginning to do flips by trying to comprehend the complexity of the computer.

"Not really. I'm not actually tracking the route, not following the trail so to speak, but I'm tracking the coding of the creation of the route. Kind of like trying to find who made the route instead of walking the path." Shinichi had this habit falling into near complete silence when in deep concentration, he was able to tune everything out and no matter how Kaito held on tight to his detective's body or attempted lewd actions on the supple flesh, Shinichi's eyes were glued onto the screen and his mind was whirring with thoughts as he pulled up more command line windows to track multiple sources.

Kaito surrendered himself to the wait until Shinichi's mind resurfaced. In the meantime, he drew up a mental list of questions to ask his detective as his own legs begin to fall asleep with his detective in his hold.

Hours later, Shinichi finally decided to resurface from his world of one's and zero's. Kaito had not noticed it at first, but the shaking of his shoulders had him abruptly waking from his impromptu nap. After all, there was only so much fun he could have with a non-responsive partner.

"Um...Have I been sitting on your lap this whole time?" Shinichi asked timidly, careful when he stood up from his position.

Kaito let out a soft hiss as pins and needles assaulted his legs. Shinichi promptly knelt down and softly, soothingly, rubbed at his thighs.

"You're not really helping you know." Kaito held back a wince as circulation returned to his legs. Shinichi's hands were working miracles as it brushed up and down the soft cotton fabric. Though he had a feeling that no matter how much his detective rubbed at his thighs, his blood was heading elsewhere other than his legs. After all, Shinichi's position was just so tempting for Kaito to take advantage of.

Shinichi's deep blue eyes peered through his lashes, as though he knew the effect he was having on Kaito. His detective shuffled slightly closer, hands placing more pressure as it moved slower in pace up the thigh and rounded underneath. Instead of sitting to the side, his detective was now seated in front of him, between his legs, and both hands rubbed up and down both his thighs. Kaito had to take a large gulp of air at this sudden change.

Possibly seeing his change, Shinichi moved even closer, hands which had once rested on his knees now moved upwards on the side of his thighs. It continued past the midway point and towards his lower back. Shinichi had also moved, instead of merely kneeling, he had lean inwards, with his mouth dangerous close to sensitive territory.

"Shinichi." Kaito said softly in a slightly pleading tone.

"Yes?" Shinichi's gaze twinkle with playfulness. His detective's breath could be felt through the fabric. The warmth on his skin was doing strange things to Kaito's thought process. He had a suspicion that his detective deliberately manipulated the situation to this point.

The hands brushed pass his backside, giving it a light squeeze, before rounding back to the front. Shinichi massaged with a good application of pressure on the top of his thighs, hands first pressed down onto his flesh near the hip joint before moving half an inch or so further and repeating. His hands then turned inwards, and instead of placing pressure, it lightly squeezed the flesh of his inner thigh. Kaito's breath hitched. That sensation was way too close to the groin.

"Shinichi…" He panted out again. The pain he felt was not from the rough treatment, but rather from the strain of unreleased pleasure.

"Yes Kaito~" That tone was just too much and Kaito bent down to capture those devilish lips. He swallowed the accompanying sound from his detective, savouring the taste of bitterness on his tongue. When he released his detective, there was a glazed and satisfied look on Shinichi's face. A hand, a playful hand, reached beneath his cotton shirt and caressed the skin underneath. Ever so slowly, it made its path on his flesh, sending another sent of tingles up Kaito's spine. Kaito had no choice but to lean back, mindful of the lack of a backrest on his current perch, and used his own hands as support. Shinichi's hands moved upwards, brushing through sensitive skin, before moving down towards the waistline of his pants. Without preamble, it pulled downwards, just enough that it covered the legs, but exposed Kaito for all the world to see.

The sudden chill to Kaito should have brought him back to reality but Kaito soon found the coldness taken away by a warm, wet presence. He had no choice but to moan, closing his eyes as he tries to stave off the incoming rush of pleasure. He held on as best he can but Shinichi was being too devilish, too cunning for the likes of Kaito. There was a sudden change in pace, a change in direction and this change in sensation unleashed new bouts of bliss. Kaito was unable to hold back anymore and the sudden onslaught caused him to whiteout as his body tingled.

When Shinichi stood back up, he looked too satisfied at Kaito's disheveled state. Kaito was panting hard, his arms had locked its position to stop himself from falling backwards.

"Looks like you're not numb anymore." He smiled like a cat who got the cream. Kaito merely scowled in reply, which drew a giggle from Shinichi. It was likely his scowl lacked the crucial element of displeasure, which was difficult to achieve when he was still on Cloud Nine himself.

"That was cheating." Kaito tries to right himself, bring his clothes back in order. He turned to glare at Shinichi some more, only to be distracted by the sheen on the lush lips. He licked his own lips in return, his mind had not only turned to putty but also managed to be set with a sudden bout of amnesia. He had to physically shake of the effect that Shinichi had on him in order to continue questioning his detective. "You deliberately did that didn't you?"

Shinichi decided not to respond to his accusation but instead remained looking innocent with his wide blue eyes still blown out of proportion after their little bout. Kaito frowed, by putting himself in a physically lower position, it was as though Shinichi was submitting to Kaito, servicing him as a form of punishment.

"You don't like it?" Came the meek reply after many seconds of silence. With his head bowed low and eyes peering through his lashes. Kaito could see that there was unresolved tension hidden inside Shinichi. As he reached out to touch his detective only to have Shinichi take a step back.

"It's not that. You didn't have to." Standing up, and ensuring his clothes were in order, he quickly took his detective into his arms, squashing their bodies together. "I'm not blaming you or mad at you."

"I'm sorry." His detective's continual apologies were really bothering Kaito but there was nothing to be done about it right now. Instead, he took a step back and give him some space.

"So did you find anything?" Kaito casually changed the topic, ignoring the stickiness and chill assaulting his skin now that he was finally aware of it and with his mind no longer a putty.

"Yes and no." Shinichi somehow managed to look too well put together, despite the extremely visible discomfort showing through his clothing. The moment their conversation turned towards a 'case' of any sort, his detective managed to compartmentalize and switch minds in an instance, even if the physical aspects of what they had just done was still quite evident to Kaito. He wondered how long his detective could last without having to descend to begging Kaito for the much needed relieve.

"While it would take me a bit more time to trace the static photos, the coding on the video hacks can be traced towards governmental IP addresses. Although it is possible whoever is accessing our feeds have ghost their IP onto the governmental ones, I highly doubt it."

"You hacked into the government database?" Kaito was in awe of his detective's skills. Even though he knew Shinichi had a knack with computers, he would have never thought it extended to such.

"Um...I might have cheated slightly…" Shinichi scratched his cheeks in embarrassment. "I had a bit of help I guess?"

"That's still awesome." Kaito pounced, making sure to put enough pressure between certain appendages. He squeezed Shinichi into a bear hug, resulting in a rather pink faced detective. "Guess a bit of reward is in order?"

"Um…" Shinichi glanced about nervously.

"Don't tell me, you think there are cameras all over this place?" Kaito followed Shinichi's gaze, not noting anything standing out to him. "Or is there something else worrying you?"

"You'll...um…" The indecisiveness was back and Kaito slowly let go of his detective.

He kept an eye on Shinichi's body language, how his detective had once again nearly curled in on himself with his arms crossed and holding tightly on his biceps. He also placed some distance between them, just a hair's breadth away.

"You're assuming I'll blame you for something." Kaito supplied, to which Shinichi flinched visibly and took another step back. Kaito plowed on, hoping his detective would interrupt his deduction. "You think I'm angry at you for pulling me away from Rum aren't you?"

"Are you not? I mean, I did point a gun at you. Shoot you in fact." Shinichi reached out, hands hovering at the center of Kaito's torso, directly where the 'bullet' had hit. "I took aim with the intention of hurting you."

"But you didn't." Kaito closed the distance between them, letting Shinichi's hands rest on the soft fabric. "Whatever that bullet was, it only put me out. Not kill or hurt me. And while I would love to know what sorts of chemical concoction you rustled up to put me out for the long flight, I would rather you put it behind you."

There was a hopeful look on Shinichi's face. However, Kaito steeled himself for his next words, knowing that it would likely hurt his detective.

"I'm not angry, not anymore at least, just a little bit disappointed." Kaito added softly. He let his hands drift up towards his detective's downturned face and gently coerced his detective to look at him in the eye. "I know you mean well, but you understand that I could have done so much more right?"

Shinichi nodded, much like a little child being scolded.

"Good." Kaito allowed fondness to shine through his eyes and in his actions, an act that was much appreciated by Shinichi from the looks of it as Shinichi reached up to join Kaito's hands that were caressing the cheeks. Shinichi lean in towards the touch, holding tight onto his hands.

"Forgive me?" He asked in a meek voice.

"Forgiven." Kaito lean in and placed a gentle touch on the soft lips. There were no reasons not to forgive his detective for wanting to save him. If Kaito was in his shoes, he too would take such actions without regards for the consequences. He just hoped that their friends in Japan would not have to pay dearly for their sudden disappearances.
