Guest: Thank you for reviewing :-)

AN: I have finally published my own book on Amazon, so with that out of the way hopefully I can get back to regularly posting updates for my stories here.

Barry walked into Star Labs, head down and dragging his feet. Work at the CCPD had been hectic, and Flash business had not been lacking either, he was tired and Len wanted to see the pipeline. Feeling drained, Barry ran a hand through his hair and looked up to see Dr. Wells wheeling over with Caitlyn beside him.

"Hey," Barry said, "where are you two off to?"

Caitlyn smiled, "Dr. Wells and I are going out to have dinner, and unless an emergency happens we're not coming back for a good two hours. I have finally convinced Dr. Wells he needs to spend more time outside the lab and his home, and we're not going to waste a second of it."

Barry forced a smile, glancing at Dr. Wells, "That's great, you two have a good time."

"Will you not come with us, Mr. Allen?" Dr. Wells asked, his blue eyes piercing Barry. "You should not be skipping any meals."
The young hero shook his head, "I'm not, I promise, I grabbed a few burgers on the way over, and I think I might crash on the couch for a little bit before starting my patrol."

Harrison Wells nodded, "Very well then, we'll see you later."

Once Wells had moved his wheelchair past them, Caitlyn gave Barry a nervous smile and followed the doctor out.

Watching the pair get into Dr. Wells' car and leave, Barry quickly pulled out his cellphone and sent a text to Len. 'The coop is clear.' Catching a glance on the security cameras, Barry took off and caught Cisco moving some equipment to the elevator.

"What are you doing?"

Cisco huffed, picking up a pair of goggles, "With Wells gone and you taking Snart down the pipeline I can finally test something that's been bothering me. I'm going to the room we had the trap set up in, and with Hartley's help I'm going to find out how the Reverse-Flash was able to do what he did."

Barry's eyebrows rose up, "You asked Hartley for help?"

Cisco glared, jabbing a finger at the superhero, "Yes, and its all your fault! I could have done it on my own, but you got us talking and you know how I am, so of course I spilled my plan and Mister Evil Overlord himself just had to want in." Cisco grabbed the handle of the cart and started to pull it into the elevator, muttering a few, Barry was sure, not so nice words in Spanish.

Sighing, Barry headed for the main entrance of the lab, his fingers nervously tapping the cellphone in his pocket. Len had not responded, which was odd. Then again, perhaps that meant the thief was busy and they would have to postpone the trip down to the pipeline. Barry, of course, felt guilty for how the meta-humans were being treated; knowing he could have easily been placed in a cell beside them, but the superhero could not shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

"You need better security, Barry," Len drawled as he walked through the door. "That's one of the most pitiful locking systems I've ever seen." Barry blinked, and then sighed, no chance getting out of this then, before he could say anything though Len held up his phone. "Also, if this is a coop are the meta-humans the hens and Wells the fox?"

"Huh?" Barry wondered if Snart had finally lost his marbles.

"Your text," Len explained, brushing past the kid to head to the elevator.

Barry quickly looked at his phone, face-palming when he read through it. "I meant 'coast', stupid autocorrect." Hearing the thief snicker, Barry shook his head and ran into the elevator, selecting the pipeline floor and then twiddling his thumbs while they waited.

"Relax, Red," Len said, leaning against the wall of the elevator. "You're too jittery, and nervous people make mistakes."

Barry sighed, knowing the thief was correct but unable to shake the feeling that something was going to go wrong.

The elevator doors opened and the two exited, Barry leading the way to the pipeline. Once at the controls, Barry pushed the necessary buttons to bring Shawna Baez's prison over. The hero could feel Len's eyes burning into him from behind, and Barry could understand, since the thief had been to prison before he was not finding these accommodations ideal at all. Barry could only kick himself for how it took for him, the hero, to do anything about this.

"Hello Shawna," Barry greeted the young woman, his heart clenching at the miserable teleporter.

Shawna did not speak, preferring to keep her arms crossed over her chest as she surveyed Barry and then Len.

"This is Leonard Snart, he's a thief that I have an understanding with. So long as he doesn't kill, I don't put him in jail. He has a couple meta-humans working for him already, one got injured recently and it's brought up the fact that they have no doctor or nurse to look after them."

He had her attention, which was clear by the incredulous look she was giving him.

Len stepped forward, "I've been told you want to go to medical school. I will pay for your college fees as long as you help patch up me or anyone on my team who gets hurt."

The teleporter walked up to the glass window, looking Len in the eye. "And my abilities?"

Len smirked, "I admit, having someone like you who could pop us in and out of places would be a goldmine for our business, but I won't force you. I may ask you to help us out of a tight spot if we get cornered, but it'll be your choice. We'll have one deal between us, college fund for medical assistance, anything else will be up to you."

"What's to stop me from popping out of here as soon as you let me go?"

"Nothing." Len answered, "But if you do you won't have anywhere to go, and no future in the medical field. I'm offering you a place to stay, food and money, in return for a respectable service. If you turn that down you're not as smart as Barry here said you were." The thief let her mull that over before adding, "Besides, if you run, where will you go? Back to the mob who wanted to abuse your power? Back to the boyfriend who betrayed your trust?"

Shawna frowned, looking away for a moment and the two men pretended they could not see her brush away the tears that had threatened to fall.

"I accept."

Barry tensed after he opened the container, but Shawna only hesitantly walked over to Snart, braced for double-cross that would never come.

"Here," Len pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to Baez. "This is the address of our safe house, go there and my sister, Lisa, will get you sorted."

Shawna glanced at the address, then folded the paper and put it the pocket of her sweat pants. Barry cleared his throat, "You can take the elevator to the first floor and walk out the front door, no one will stop you."

Giving one last look to both of them, Shawna carefully walked past them and then turned the corner. They both heard her break into a run for the elevator.

"Do you think she'll be at the safe house when you get there?" Barry asked.

"Yes," Len had turned to look at the display on the wall, eying the containers marked occupied. "Who else you got down here, Barry?"

The hero shifted on his feet, face flaming, "You can't let them all out, Len."

The thief smirked, "Can't I?"

"The Mist is too dangerous to let loose."

"The Mist?" Len asked, looking at Barry with one eyebrow raised.

"Kyle Nimbus," Barry explained. "He's an assassin and he turns into a poisonous cloud and he almost killed me!"

"Chill kid," Len gave the display one more look and then turned away. "We'll come to them, but for now rescuing one is enough. Hart almost has the bracelets done, once you slap those on the metas in the pipeline they should be let out to walk around."

Barry sighed, "That's good." The tension eased from his body, and the hero began to think that maybe nothing was going to go wrong after all.

Len cocked his head, eying the kid, "What's wrong, Barry? You've been on edge since before I arrived."

"I don't know," Barry sighed, "I—"

A cellphone rang just then, startling both men. Len fished a phone out of his pocket and answered it. "Hart what is it? I'm still—"

"Get to Cisco now! Wells is there, he's going to kill him!"

Len snapped the phone shut and Barry, who had heard Hartley's panicked words, grabbed the thief and zipped through the lab, up the elevator shaft to the room where they had once set a trap for the yellow suited meta-human. They arrived just as Wells was vibrating his hand, lowering it to Cisco's chest. Ramon stood paralyzed with fear, eyes wide and disbelieving as his mentor prepared to kill him. Barry let go of Len and ran forward, knocking Wells out of the way. Cisco collapsed on the floor, shaking while Snart shook off the nausea Barry's little speed trip had caused in his stomach.

Barry shook with anger, grief and shock. Everything he had bottled up inside him, all the emotions he had locked away so Wells would not know they were onto him, it all boiled up inside the young speedster.

"Barry," Harrison Wells got to his feet, smiling, "well I didn't plan on you finding out this way but I'm glad you stopped me from killing Cisco. That's a death I would have regretted." Wells glanced at Len then, his eyes narrowing, "Snart? What are you doing—"

"Shut up!" Barry shouted, taking a step forward. "It was you! You all the time! You killed my mom, you framed my dad! Mentored me, why?"

Wells smirked, "I'm your enemy, Flash, I'll always be your enemy. Your perfect counterpart. I'd stay around and chat, but this isn't part of my plans, not yet."

With a yell, Barry ran forward but Wells batted him out of the way. Len drew his cold gun and fired, however the Reverse-Flash was much more experienced than Barry was. Dodging the cold beam, Wells came up fast and punched Snart hard in the stomach, knocking the thief down.

His way cleared, Wells took off. Barry stumbled to his feet, preparing to go after him but Cisco called out to him. "Don't Barry, don't go after him, he wants you too."

Barry stared at Cisco, then looked at Len, "You ok?"

Len pushed himself to his knees, rubbing his stomach, "Just peachy, kid, just peachy." Wincing, Len got to his feet; he'd have a sizable bruise there by tomorrow for sure.

"I should have gone after him," Barry ran a hand through his hair, adrenaline leaving a bad taste in his mouth. "I should have been faster—"

"Barry, stop." Len got to his feet, holstering the cold gun. "Going after him might have been what Wells wanted you to do. Then he'd just have you to deal with." When Barry looked ready to argue, Len continued, "Think about this, Barry. Look at what he did to your parents, and yet for some reason he trains you on how to be a speedster. I may not have a college degree, kid, but even I can tell you that he needs you for something."

Barry sighed, "So what do we do?"

Len grinned, "We set a trap, and get him to confess."
