Saving Grace
Remember those walls I built?
Well, baby, they're tumbling down
They didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make a sound…
I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now
He was gone.
Tadashi was gone.
Hiro saw it with his own eyes. They all didn't want to believe it, but he wasn't coming back. They all expected that Tadashi would just walk through the doors of the classroom. The fire didn't happen, and it was all just a big joke.
But the doors to his lab would remain closed and the room was still untouched.
Fred knew Tadashi since high school. When people looked at Fred, all they saw were his family's status. It was all he ever was to them. An arrogant, snobby brat. Fred began to believe what they said, but Tadashi never saw him that way.
"What do you want to see yourself as?"
Fred was so caught up in what everyone thought about him, he forgot who he was entirely. Thanks to Tadashi, he found it in him to be himself.
Everyone thought Wasabi was impossible.
"You're too organized."
"The way you sort everything's messed up."
"Stop being crazy, and get over it, it's not that big of a deal."
Tadashi took the time and actually helped Wasabi learn about his condition.
"It's nothing to be ashamed of, Wasabi… me, Fred, Honey Lemon, and Gogo are with you every step of the way."
Without Tadashi, Wasabi wouldn't have accepted himself.
Everyone thought Honey Lemon was annoying. She tried to make friends with those around her, but they all seemed to turn away from her. What was it about her that made people turn away from her? Was it her high strung nature? Her high energy that made her seem overeager? It seemed that she would never be good enough for friends, or for anyone.
Once she met Tadashi, he saw Honey Lemon for who she was. He saw her when she was all alone. Tadashi told her she was worthy enough for herself all along.
Gogo usually didn't trust people. Ever since getting into San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, she thought she wouldn't have as many friends like she did before graduating high school. When she met Tadashi, slowly day by day the barrier around herself began to crumble. She started to open up to him, began to trust. He included her in his circle of friends along with everyone else, and for the first time, Gogo found a place where she belonged. She finally had friends after years of being an outcast. Now the person who helped her make friends and who taught her to trust was gone.
Tadashi was the only person Hiro saw growing up. Hiro didn't knew their parents, but Tadashi did. His older brother made sure he was fed, cleaned himself up, did his homework, made sure he didn't get himself into trouble. Tadashi sacrificed so much. He sacrificed his childhood for Hiro. He choosed Hiro over his friends, time after time. Hiro didn't see those sacrifices at all.
Hiro had no memory of their parents. When he thought of their father, all he saw was Tadashi.
He didn't see Tadashi didn't want to loose him like he did their parents.
Tadashi was the only family he had.
You're everything I need and more…
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away…
- Halo - Beyonce
