Étaín Novos flicked her white-blonde hair out of her violet eyes and yawned. Her purple butterfly kwami, Nooroo flittered to her side.
"How was your sleep, Nooroo?" asked Étaín.
"I slept well, Étaín? How about you?"
"I slept well too, Nooroo."
The petite blonde girl swung her legs off of the bed at stretched. She went to her mirror and straightened up her hair, then pinned her butterfly brooch to her shoulder and went out. It was a beautiful, sunny June morning in Paris. All was well. Étaín was taking her normal route to the park, when she saw a man with black eyes following her.
"Uh-oh," whispered Nooroo. Étaín darted behind a building.
"Nooroo, transform me!"
Her superhero form as the Butterfly had a silver mask, and she wore a lavender skin-tight suit with delicate silver wings. Étaín carried a shepherd's crook as a weapon. She alighted on the ground to face the man.
"Where is he?"
Someone's strong arms slammed her to the ground. Butterfly rolled over, her head spinning.
"Ray of Hope!" Butterfly yelled, calling her special weapon. A blinding light emanated from her crook, which should have immobilized her attacker. Instead the man lunged at her again. Butterfly hopped to the side, barely managing to evade him. Even so, as he swiped at her, he tore her right wing, making her unable to take flight.
"No!" she shrieked.
Nooroo, he's too strong! He must have some kind of dark power!
Étaín panicked, as she could feel Nooroo's weariness and knew that her transformation was about to wear out. The man managed to trap Étaín between the Seine and her escape, snatching her brooch just as her powers wore out. He released his hold on the girl and she sunk into the Seine.
