A/N: I wanted to write something in honor of International Women's Day, so this little drabble was born.

Officer Kono Kalakaua stood at the front of the room of assembled women, the rest of the Five-0 task force arrayed behind her. All were wearing their dress blues. A woman stepped to the podium.
"Friends," she began, "I would like to introduce you to Kono Kalakaua, member of the governor's Five-0 Task Force. Officer Kalakaua, as President of Soroptimist International of Honolulu, it is my honor to present you with our Woman of Distinction award for your work with Five-0 in helping to eliminate human trafficking in Honolulu."
Kono beamed proudly as the room erupted into applause. "My pleasure."

Soroptimist International is an international service club dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls locally and internationally. Their is a club in Honolulu. Fighting human trafficking is one of their projects at the national level. They used to have a Woman of Distinction program, but it was discontinued several years ago. Still, I like to think Kono would have won it. :)
I strongly urge you to Google Soroptimist International of the Americas and Soroptimist International and check out some of their projects. At Soroptimist International of the Americas, I especially urge you to read the Live Your Dream Award winner stories (under programs) and check out the Club Grants for Women and Girls (under other programs, then click the Learn More about this program on the right.
I'll stop now that my note is longer than the story. :)
