Chapter 12 – Natsu and Happy to the Rescue

Previously, in Dragon Heart

Bruce smirked down at Kagura, who glared at him with pure hatred as the punk gripped her face with an iron claw. He then started taunting her while gathering the needed amount of mana for his spell.

"This is what you get when you mess with the Hellions, bitch. Have fun in hell!"

"KAGURA-SAN!"

20:12, August 21st, X784, Unknown Forest, Near the Dragon Slayer Camp, Fiore

Just as Bruce was about to release the mana he gathered in the form of a beautiful – in his personal opinion – explosion that would deprive Kagura of her head, something unexpected happened. Out of nowhere, three head-sized fireballs soared out from the woods and hit Bruce, Edmond, and Clint in their faces.

"AH! Son of a bitch!" Bruce yelled as he got off of Kagura and rolled on the ground. Edmond and Clint were also sent to the ground with a cry, the former's concentration breaking along with the chains holding Kagura down.

With a burst of adrenaline, Kagura got up, grabbed her sword, and jumped down onto Bruce. With a yell, she brought her blade down on the green-haired punk, stabbing him through the head.

While this was happening, two of the Hellions were taken down from behind. Having been caught by surprise in their shock of the fireballs hitting their colleagues, they didn't have time to react when a punch hit each either of them in the back of their necks, knocking them out.

"Minato! Daisuke!" Alfonso and Enzo cried out in surprise, having witnessed their fellow Hellions being taken down from behind. Their yells made Dante, Cristiano, and the brunette with gauntlets turn to their knocked out comrades.

Standing behind them was a young man with pink hair dressed in black clothes. "Hi, I'm Natsu Dragneel," he introduced himself with a smirk. "And I'm here to kick your asses!"

Three things happened after that declaration. One, an explosion of pink smoke occurred to Enzo's right, and from it came what looked like a doppelganger of Natsu but with different clothes, blue hair, furred claws for hands and feet, a pair of cat ears on his head and a tail sprouting from his back. The cat-human hybrid quickly took advantage of the albino's surprise to deck him with a left hook, sending him down to the ground and forcing him to release his hold on Nonette.

Two, Natsu dashed forward and grabbed Dante and Cristiano by their faces before setting his hands ablaze and sending them flying.

Three, Kagura got over her surprise at Natsu's sudden appearance and, still riding that adrenaline rush, got behind the brunette with the gauntlets and stabbed him through the heart.

"Happy! Grab the girl and go!" Natsu ordered as he dashed at Alfonso. The transformed cat didn't think twice and did as told, grabbing Nonette in a bridal carry and running away.

Seeing this, Clint, with first degree burns on the right side of his face and part of his beard burned, brought up his sniper rifle to shoot the blue-haired brat down. Before he could take the shot, however, there was the sound of a blade cutting through the air and the barrel of Clint's rifle fell off.

His eye-widening in surprise, Clint quickly turned to his left to see Kagura right in front of him. Reinforcing his body with mana, Clint leaned backward to avoid her horizontal swing at his neck, though barely. Reequipping his pistols in a flash as he backtracked, Clint shot at the swordswoman. In a move of pure skill, Kagura spun her sword in front of her, deflecting the bullets fired her away.

Closing on Clint, Kagura tried to cut him across the chest but the brunette sidestepped her swing. Aiming at her head and torso, Clint fired one mana-enhanced bullet at each target. Kagura let the momentum of her swing push her forward into a roll, avoiding the bullets. Reequipping his empty magazines with reloaded ones, Clint continued firing at the girl that started all of their problems today.

For her part, Kagura did her very best to stay mobile and dodge the gunner's bullets, doubting that she could repeat her previous move with how fast her strength kept declining; her still bleeding wound catching up with her. This proved to be her undoing as she started reacting slower and slower until Clint managed to shoot her in her left leg and right shoulder.

Dropping to one knee as her left hand went to her shoulder wound, Kagura could only watch as Clint aimed his guns at her head and heart. Watching, in slow motion, as he squeezed the triggers, the swordswoman had only one thought going through her head.

'I can't die here! I still have to avenge my brother! I. WILL. NOT. DIE. HERE!'

"GRAVITY CHANGE!" Kagura shouted in desperation, her mana overcoming whatever Clint's bullet had done to her earlier.

Eyes widening, Clint couldn't do anything as he was crushed under the pressure of his quintupled gravity. Caught off guard, the middle-aged man had no time to prepare himself and even his reinforced body couldn't do anything as his spine broke under the added weight, followed by his neck.

Breathing heavily as she confirmed the death of her enemy, Kagura finally reached her limit and blacked out.

While the swordswoman and gunner had been fighting, Alfonso and Natsu had been in midst of their a tussle of their own. Holding the head of his meteor hammer on his right hand and the handle on his left hand, the redhead threw some combos at the pinkette. Dodging Alfonso's right hooks and crosses while blocking his left blows, Natsu hit his opponent with some body blows to his gut and chest.

Staggering back from a kick to the gut, Alfonso snarled at Natsu, "You son of a bitch!" Seeing red, Alfonso charged at Natsu and went for a right hook. The Dragon Slayer, however, easily sidestepped the punch and threw a flame coated right jab at the redhead's face.

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" The pinkette called out, sending the mercenary mage to the ground. Following it up, Natsu jumped to the air and brought his flame coated right foot down on the redhead's head.

"Fire Dragon's Tail Smash!"

Knowing better than take that hit, Alfonso rolled out of the way. Natsu's ax-kick hit the ground instead, creating a three feet wide crater. Getting up and jumping back to get some distance, Alfonso channeled his mana into his weapon as he spun his meteor hammer by the chain before throwing the head at Natsu.

"Juggernaut!"

Seeing the hammer's head flying at him, Natsu coated his fist with his draconic flames and punched forward.

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"

Much to Natsu's surprise, however, Alfonso's hammer proved to have more strength behind it than his punch. The Dragon Slayer's fist was pushed backward and the hammer hit him straight in the gut. The pinkette gasped as he lost his breath and was sent flying off his feet, crashing into a tree as the chain of the hammer went taunt.

"Ha! Did you like that, you son of a bitch!?" The Hellion mercenary taunted before explaining. "It's the enchantment on my hammer! It doubles the momentum in my hammer, you see! The more I spin it, the more momentum it gets, and the harder it hits!"

"Heh!" Natsu chuckled as he got back his breath and stood up. "You call that hitting hard? I've been hit harder than that. Compared to Erza's punches, that felt like the punch of a five-year-old!" He taunted.

Alfonso gritted his teeth at Natsu's taunting as he started spinning his weapon. "Is that so!? How about you take another taste of my hammer, then!? Juggernaut!" He shouted as he threw the hammer at Natsu a second time.

Knowing better than take that hammer head-on, Natsu jumped up, avoiding the blunt weapon as it plowed through the tree trunk behind him. While in mid-air, Natsu projected two fireballs on each of his hands.

"Fire Dragon's Brilliant Volley!" The Dragon Slayer called out as he proceeded to launch a volley of fireballs the size of his head from each hand.

"Shit!" Was all Alfonso could say before he was hit and sent crashing into the ground; the fireballs exploded in bursts of flame. A cloud of dirt covered him as Natsu landed and eye it, on guard in case his opponent tried anything.

Hearing something land near him to his right, Natsu looked at the object and he saw that it was a small cylinder. Eyes widening in recognition, Natsu was too late to do anything before the canister exploded with a flash of light and deafening noise.

Once the dizziness went away and he could see and hear again, Natsu took a look around the clearing. To his surprise, there was no one else around except for the passed out Kagura and the bodies of those she killed.

"Dammit! They ran away." The pinkette cursed before he ran to the swordswoman's side. "Oi! Are you alright?" He asked Kagura before noticing the bullet wounds on her shoulder, abdomen, and leg. "Shit! Definitely not ok! Have to get you to Flare and fast!" Then, hearing the flapping of wings, Natsu looked up.

"NATSU!" Flare called out as Blaze flew them down to her fellow Dragon Slayer. "Are you alright? The girl with Happy told us that her bodyguard was wounded. Where is she?" She asked as they landed.

"I'm ok, but she's not," Natsu told Flare as he motioned to Kagura's prone form. Flare quickly got down on her knees beside the unconscious mage and started checking her. Taking a container from her hip pouch, the redhead opened it and poured the contents on the bullet wounds on Kagura's abdomen. The slimy liquid that came out of the container quickly covered the bleeding wound, Flare using her hands to spread the liquid as it hardened around the wound and started to slow down the bleeding.

"Wow. What is that?" Natsu asked, impressed with Flare's quick reactions.

"Blood-Stamping Cream," the redhead replied as she moved on to the swordswoman's shoulder. "It is made from the remains of a type of slime that can harden its body." Finishing with the shoulder, she moved to the leg. "Healers and medics use this cream to stamp the bleeding of wounds for a short while so they can transport the patient to a proper medical facility. This should hold her long enough for us to bring her back to camp," she said as she finished with the leg. Looking at her feline partner, Flare said, "Blaze!"

"On it!" He replied before transforming in a cloud of pink smoke into an adult version of his Nekomata Form. Gently picking up Kagura into a princess carry, Blaze brought out his wings and flew off back to camp. Flare and Natsu quickly flew after him, firing flames from their hands and feet to rocket themselves through the sky.

Half an hour later, everyone was back at the Dragon Slayer's camp and Flare had just finished healing Kagura to the best of her abilities.

'A more experience healer would have taken ten minutes to heal her,' Flare thought to herself. Shaking away her doubts, she tried to think more positively. 'Nonetheless, for someone that only managed to resuscitate a fish earlier today, I did well.' She sighed, slightly exhausted from the strain of using the Mystical Palm multiple times throughout the day.

"Will she be ok?" Nonette asked Flare as she came to check on her bodyguard. The redhead looked the brunette and smiled kindly.

"Yes, she will. Don't worry; she should wake up in half an hour or so," Flare replied, making Nonette sigh in relief.

"Thank you, Flare-san."

"See, Nonette-chan? I told you that Flare got it!" Blaze told the young girl as he stood on a log to the girls' left.

Flare smiled at her partner, silently thanking him for his faith in her. She then looked at the younger girl.

"No need to thank me," Flare replied with a shake of her head. "I just like helping people." Hearing someone approaching their camp from afar thanks to her enhanced hearing, Flare looked over her shoulder. "Seems like Natsu and Happy are back."

"Uh?" The orange-eyed girl looked at Flare before looking at the forest behind her. Not seeing the mentioned mage and cat, she was about to tell Flare she was wrong when she saw Natsu and Happy come out from the trees at the edge of the clearing.

"How did you hear them from so far away?" Nonette asked, looking at the redhead with wide eyes.

"I'm a Dragon Slayer; like Natsu. Our magic gives us enhanced senses," the Dragon Slayer explained.

"Wow. That's so cool!" The young girl said in amazement.

Flare giggled at Nonette's astonishment with her magic before she looked at Natsu as her fellow Dragon Slayer and his partner reached the camp.

"All done, Natsu-kun?" she asked.

Natsu sat down on a log facing Flare and Nonette before he replied. "Yep. I buried their bodies and took everything that their pocket dimensions poured out."

"What do you mean by 'pocket dimensions', Natsu-san?" Nonette asked with a confused expression on her face.

"Ah, you see Nonette-chan, there's this type of Magic that allows someone to create a secret place that only the creator has access to," Natsu explained, dumbing it down so the young girl could understand it better. "Mages that use this Magic, which is called Requip, use it to store items so they don't have to be weighed down." A frown then appeared on the pinkette's face. "However, when the mage dies, their pocket dimension is destroyed and pours out everything that was inside it at the location of the mage's death."

Nonette frowned as something came across her mind. "Will Kagura-san be going to prison for killing those men?" the young girl asked as she looked at the resting form of her bodyguard. "She was just trying to protect me."

Flare put a hand on the girl's shoulder in a show of support while Natsu sighed. "Killing dark mages isn't considered a crime by the Magic Council; only frowned upon my most magic communities and guilds. So, no; she won't be going to prison for it." Natsu told the brunette, who smiled in relief.

'Doesn't make killing them right, though,' Natsu thought to himself with a frown, recalling Gramps' words about life being important and something that should be cherished.

"What are you going to do with their stuff, Natsu-san?" Nonette asked, bringing Natsu back from his thoughts.

"We are gonna sell most of the things so we can get some Jewels," Happy replied in the pinkette's stead from where he sat beside Natsu. "And we're going to buy a lot of fish with those Jewels!"

Natsu chuckled at his partner's obsession with fish while Flare and Nonette giggled. The brunette then looked at Natsu and asked, "Natsu-san, are you all part of a guild?"

Natsu's and Happy's smiles turned to frowns at that and Flare and Blaze looked at them with sad eyes. Flipping his frown into a sad smile, Natsu replied, "No, not anymore. I did something that I shouldn't have, just to prove my strength. Because of it, myself, my friends and guildmates got caught in a dangerous situation. Even though no one died in the end, I still went against the rules and put others at risk, all for a selfish reason. Gramps had no choice but to banish me from the guild."

Nonette gasped at this revelation and quickly apologized. "That's terrible, Natsu-san. I'm sorry for bringing it up."

Seeing the young brunette bowing her head, Natsu extended his right hand and patted it, surprising her. "Hey, it's alright. You didn't know. Besides, while I was banished, I parted on good terms with Fairy Tail. I may no longer be an official member, but I and they will always be family." Nonette smiled at that, happy that her hero was still on friendly terms with his former guild. "Now, how about I tell you about the time me, Happy and three other members of Fairy Tail beat a demon?"

"Oh, yes, please!" Nonette agreed with a big smile. A blush then appeared on her cheeks as her stomach growled. The others laughed at that, embarrassing her even more.

"Would you like something to eat while Natsu tells his story?" Flare asked as she got up. Nonette nodded her head quickly, too embarrassed to speak. Giggling, the redhead went to take some of the soup from their dinner that was leftover.

21:10, August 21st, X784, Unknown Forest, Unknown Camp, Fiore

Meanwhile, in another section of the forest, there was another camp where three individuals sat around a burning fire.

"What the hell is taking those fuckers so long?" Questioned a blonde woman. She has her hair cut short in a buzzsaw-style, orange eyes, and three piercings on the top of both of her ears. Her outfit consists of a red halter top that exposes her belly, navy shorts that barely reach her mid-thigh, and black and red running sneakers. Strapped to the small of her back are two escrima sticks made of metal. Her choice of attire allows her to show her guild tattoo and the tattooed thorn vines that start at her wrists, go over her shoulders and circle her neck. Her guild tattoo consists of a grinning skull similar to the Jolly Roger, but with the crossbones replaced by musical notes.

"Patience, Kaede. The job Edmund and the others took involves kidnapping a rich girl and those always have an armed escort." A young man with short dark-pink hair stated. His hair is brushed back except for a single bang that falls down the middle of his face, bringing attention to his brown eyes. He seems to be shorter than average for his age and his attire consists of a large hoody with long sleeves, a snake patterned scarf around his neck, grey pants, and black boots.

"Their group consists of a dozen mages, Takuya! No matter the escort of cock suckers that rich brat has, those idiots should have made mincemeat of them already and brought the brat to us by now!"

"Must you speak so vulgarly, Kaede?" The third individual asked the blonde. He too is a young man like Takuya, but of average height. He has tousled shoulder-length brown hair and grey eyes and wears a lavender long-sleeved shirt with a green scarf along with dark pants and shoes.

Kaede glared at the brunette. "How I speak is none of your fucking business, Senritsu! If you can't deal with it, then go jack off to that ocarina you like so much."

The brunette, Senritsu, glared back at Kaede. "Disrespect or insult my ocarina again and I'll kill you."

"Enough!" Takuya stated, using his Sound Magic to amplify the sound of his voice and give it more power. He glared at his two partners, causing Senritsu to demurely bow his head and Kaede to scoff and glare to the side. Grunting, Takuya then heard the sound of multiple people nearing their camp from afar thanks to his enhanced hearing. "Edmund and the others are near, though it seems that they may have had some complications."

"What?" Kaede asked before looking at the same direction the pinkette was looking at. A minute later, Edmund, Dante, Cristiano, Minato, Daisuke, Enzo, and Alfonso came to the camp, arms around each other's' shoulders as they walked.

"Apologies, Boss," Edmund said to Takuya as he and the others dropped to the ground by the fire. "We failed our mission."

Kaede opened her mouth to start shouting at them for their failure, but one glare from Takuya had her closing her mouth and glare at the woods. Looking at Edmund, Takuya said, "We can see that, Edmund. I take it the others are dead?" At the purple-haired mercenary's nod, Takuya grimaced. "I see. Well, at least now everyone gets a bigger cut once we get the girl and give her to the client." He said, not an ounce of empathy or grief at having lost some of his men. Some of the remaining Hellions bristled at his lack of caring for their comrades' deaths but kept their mouths shut since they know better than to call Takuya out.

Purposely ignoring his subordinates' anger or simply not caring about it, Takuya continued his questioning. "Now; tell me what happened."

Keeping his an impassive expression, Edmund reported what occurred from when they first tried to capture Nonette Raymond, to when Natsu and Happy interfered and they had to flee.

"Hm, interesting," Takuya commented after hearing Edmund's retelling of events.

"Yes, very interesting," Kaede agreed with a calm tone and serious expression before it turned into an angry frown. "It's very interesting how you cunts failed to kill a bitch bleeding her guts out and with messed up mana flow! Even more interesting is how you all ran away because a couple of sons of bitches came to help the bitch!" She shouted at the remaining Hellions. "How fucking weak and pathetic are you all!? Running away from two cocksuckers and a dying bitch when you outnumbered them!?"

"That dying bitch killed Bruce, Mikado, and Clint with just her sword skills and a busted mana flow," Edmund said through gritted teeth. "The pink-haired brat dealt with two of us and was keeping up with Alfonso. And, as I said, I didn't know how many reinforcements they could have. With that in mind, I decided a retreat was better than risking killing the bitch, and the brat and risk the other brat come with more, stronger reinforcements that could easily take us out in our weaker states."

Not liking how he was addressing her, Kaede moved faster than anyone at the camp, barring Takuya and Senritsu, could track. In a flash, she was in front of Edmund and kicking his head like it was a soccer ball.

"EXCUSES!" She yelled as Edmund was sent rolling back across the grass until he stopped three or so meters away from the fireplace. "All I'm hearing are excuses from weak cocksuckers!"

"Kaede." All of the blonde's anger evaporated as she froze at hearing Takuya's voice directly behind her. Feeling his hands on her shoulders, she knew that she was screwed. "Shut up and go to my tent. Now." Takuya commanded, his voice once again being enhanced with mana.

Knowing better than arguing, Kaede bit her lip, nodded, and left for Takuya's tent as ordered. Once she was out of sight, Takuya focused on Edmund, who was now sitting up with a hand on his busted lip.

"While I agree that your decision was sensible, Edmund, see that you learn how to speak to your superiors," Takuya 'advised'. Seeing the purple-haired mage nod, the pink-haired man continued. "Good. Now, you had a busy day, so eat and rest. Tomorrow, we will track the brats and our target. Once we find them, we'll see what our best course of action is." His piece said, Takuya turned on his foot and made for his tent.

Once inside his tent, Takuya saw what he had expected: a naked Kaede kneeling on his cot with her head bowed. Activating the enchanted item that conjured a silencing ward around his tent, Takuya started stripping himself from his clothes as he spoke.

"How many times do I have to tell you to keep a lead on that temper of yours, Kaede?" He asked after taking off his hoody and the shirt underneath. The blonde tomboy stayed silent as he approached her, knowing that it was a rhetorical question. "I'm starting to think that you like being punished. Maybe you're a hidden masochist?" Now in front of her, Takuya grabbed Kaede by the head and forced her to look up at him. "You know what to do, so start doing it, slut." He ordered.

With a face betraying no emotion, Kaede unbuckled Takuya's belt and brought down his pants and boxers.

I hope that I don't have to tell you what will happen to Kaede next. It should be clear as water.

Yeah, I know, five months for another short chapter. Well, like I said last chapter, my muse for Fairy Tail is lazy. That, and I'm putting most of my free time and concentration on planning some other stories. I should be uploading one of them soon. Yugioh Code GX should also have another chapter out soon too if I get out of my ass and write this duel I want to add to it.

If anyone is wondering why the chapter took a dark turn at the end, well, I think I made it pretty clear that this was going to be darker than canon; what with killing forty villagers back in the Dandelion Arc and having Kagura kill two of the Hellions last chapter.

Next chapter we see Kagura waking up and interacting with Natsu and co. Will Natsu call her out on killing Bruce, Mikado (Gauntlet Dude), and Clint? Find out on the next chapter of Dragon Heart! (Which hopefully will come out sooner than five months from now.)

Ja ne!
