She hadn't noticed it the first time they'd spoken, but with time and distance, she'd realized he was right in his frank self-assessment. Not that it was unusual for a Contrator to understand their weaknesses logically. He was incomplete, even though he said all the right things and made the expected moves. There was something different in his dark eyes, a deficiency that wasn't obvious at first glance, but the longer she gazed into them, the more she realized they didn't reflect anything back.
