Hey guys... I honestly can't believe it's been two years... If you've stuck around that long, you are honestly an absolute saint. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and I am SO SO SO incredibly sorry for how long it's been. Thank you to everyone who's read this story or who's starting to read it now. And for those of you who reached out to make sure I was ok...this chapter is for you. You guys will never know how much that means to me...I'm also sorry for not replying to your reviews but it's already been such a long time that I just wanted to get this chapter up. Here's a quick run down of what's happened for the story for those of you, like myself, who need a little refresher if you don't want to go back and reread:
-Harmione have very similar, very terrible home lives.
-Harmione rely on eachother more than anything. They fall in love, sharing awkwardly sweet kisses and first times (then seconds and thirds and so on).
-Ginny, Luna, and Neville stand by Harry when his name is called from the goblet. Luna and Neville are big SPEW supporters and great friends. Ginny is just as awesome and hella feisty.
-McGonagall is teaching Hermione how to be an animagus. Her form is a wolf.
-Harmione can produce patroni and their patroni memories help them throw off dark curses because those memories are made of light.
-Wolfstar is a thing and they love their cubs more than anything.
-Parseltongue works against dragons. Made the first task hella easy.
-Ron is still rude at the ball. Only it's to his littler sister (who accompanies hunky Viktor to the ball) instead of Hermione but Harmione wasn't having that and put him in his place. Do you guys want a Ron redemption arch? I love his character and I feel like I haven't been all the fair to him in the two stories currently posted.
-Hermione pulls a Matilda with her mother and a Katara with her sperm donor.
-Sirius makes it his mission to figure out what's been going on at Gringott's.
-Draco needs help and Harmione is determined to be there for him despite everything.
That's super brief but I'm pretty sure I got all the important things. Thanks again you guys, hope you like this chapter.
Chpt. 25: Mysteries Uncovered
"Greetings, Chief Financial Officer Griphook," Sirius greets the goblin who seemed so fond of his godson, lowering his hood just far enough for said goblin to see his face.
"Greetings, Lord Black. How may we be of service to you today?" The goblin enquires, staring stoically at the once handsome man.
"I have come to inquire about a matter relating the scion of House Potter," Sirius states.
"As his blood guardian, I would say that we here at Gringott's would be happy to discuss all matters relating to young Lord Potter with you. We here at Gringott's are extremely displeased with how his case has been handled in your world. Children are rare in our society and cherished above all else when they enter our community. To see a child, especially one as kind as the young Lord Potter, be treated as poorly as he has is a disgrace. Luckily for us, your brother made it particularly easy for us to begin helping you Lord Black."
"My brother?" Sirius stares at Griphook in complete bewilderment.
Harry's scream startles Hermione awake.
"No, no, no. Please! Don't!" Harry yells, thrashing his arms and legs.
Hermione straddles her boyfriend's waist, locking his legs with her feet and his arms with her hands. "HARRY! WAKE UP!"
"Mione?" Harry gasps, his breath ragged once his eyes snap open and his thrashing pauses. "It's like I'm him, Mione. Every time. It's like I'm the one hurting them." Harry's gasps for breath turn into sobs as he clings to Hermione. "I don't want to be him."
Hermione rubs his back, her own tears streaming down her cheeks because as much as she wants to help Harry, she doesn't know how this time and nothing in the library has helped. This has to be darker magic than anything Hogwarts has shelved in its library. But this can't go on. This isn't normal. They just need help figuring these things out.
For now though, they need sleep.
"You aren't him. You will never be him. Above all else, you are good, Harry." Hermione whispers over and over as she rubs her best friend's back until both of them fall asleep.
"Why would he do it, Remus?" It's the first thing out of his mouth after his rushed explanation to his lover when he arrives home from Diagon Alley.
"I know it's not what you want to hear but we might never know. Unless there's something he left behind in the house, we may never know where your brother's head was the day he died. All we can do is be thankful that his decision to reinstate you has made it that much easier to clear your name. As head of house and two seats of Wizengamot due to both being Head of House Black and being the blood guardian of the scion of House Potter, you have the right to call for a retrial. Even if you had killed Pettigrew, you could claim it as justified because you were claiming blood retribution, something our daughter is going to throw a fit over if she doesn't know about it already or something she already has a plan of combatting after she graduates if she does already know about it. Considering you didn't kill anyone, however, your trial will literately be open and shut."
"I'll be free," Sirius whispers in disbelief, collapsing onto the couch next to his mate.
"You'll be free," Remus confirms, wrapping his arm around the other man and kissing the top of his head.
