Hideyoshi wanted to spend some time with his sister.

Yes, Yuuko.

His sister who's always calling him an idiot, trash, and etcetera; who's always beating him or twisting his arm whenever she gets irritated at him; who's always stealing his pudding from the refrigerator and borrowing his stuff without asking; and, who's always doing as little housework as she can get away with.

He could go on, but that was the jest of it.

Why did he want to spend some time with her?

He just did.

Simple as that.

It didn't matter if an ill-tempered gorilla had a better personality than her, she's still his sister, and he loves her.

That's why Hideyoshi walked down the stairs with a manga in hand, heading for the couch where Yuuko was lying down, reading one of her boys-love manga. Really, her choice of reading material is just... weird. How did she even get interested in that kind of stuff? On second thought, he didn't want to know.

Knowing that if he asked to sit by her she would likely tell him to sit on the floor, Hideyoshi didn't. He just walked up to the opposite end of the couch, sat down at her feet, and started reading his own manga. He got a page in before Yuuko spoke up.

"What are you doing?"
"Just reading." He told her.
"Can't you do that in your room?"
"I wanted to come down here with you, aneue."

That made her pause, his sister studying him. "Why?" She finally asked, her eyes narrowed.
"I wanted to spend some time with you."
Another pause, the look in her eyes a mix of suspicion and confusion. "...Why?"
"How many times are you going to ask that?" He said, sighing.

Yuuko stared at him for several long moments before responding with, "whatever", and going back to her book. Just as Hideyoshi was about to go back to his, she sat up and turned around to lie down the other way, her feet going to the end of the couch as her head went right into his lap.

"Aneue...?" Hideyoshi asked, puzzled.
"Since you're here..." She muttered, her face red.
He smiled at her and giggled.
"...Shut up. This is way more comfortable than a pillow." She muttered, digging her elbow into his stomach, but not hard.

They were like that for awhile, reading their manga quietly with Hideyoshi glancing at Yuuko every time he turned the page. Eventually, though, she set her manga aside and looked up at him. "Hideyoshi, let's... talk."
He blinked. "About what?"
She blushed. "...Anything? I don't know..."
Hideyoshi smiled at her, sitting down his own book. "Alright. Let's talk."

Maybe he was a bit rude to compare her to an ill-tempered gorilla... of course, he stopped thinking like that that night when his pudding went missing... again.
