No, he didn't call her.

He refused to call her.

But...

Adam Taurus didn't know if it was coincidence or fate, but he once again found himself faced with Yang Xiao-Long.

During the course of two weeks towards the end of the spring, the White Fang experienced catastrophe after catastrophe. Three of Adam's Bullheads were brought down, dozens of his men were captured, and one of Roman Torchwick's stolen Atlesian Paladins was destroyed.

Adam was told that, at the head of the Paladin's destruction, there was a blonde girl encased in flames who managed to smash the entire armored mech into pieces. Recognizing the description, Adam decided to do some investigating to find out who this girl was and how he could find her.

It wasn't difficult to find someone in the White Fang who could hack into the traffic-cams from the night of the Paladin's destruction and some of Yang's social media files. Adam decided to check the footage first, and he saw... Well... What was expected, given his first impression.

...

Yang was punched into a pillar by the Paladin, and as she fell limply towards the ground. However, before she could hit the ground, Torchwick's mech lashed out and actually punched her through the pillar.

"Yang!" A black-haired girl exclaimed, trying to run towards the blonde. A girl in red stopped her, giving a small smirk.

"Don't worry!" The girl assured, her silver eyes glinting. "With each hit, she gets stronger—and she uses that energy to fight back! It's what makes her special!"

Yang slowly pushed herself to her feet, her golden hair shining so bright it looked almost white. Torchwick made the Paladin throw a punch, but Yang caught it and looked up with glowing red eyes before she yelled and threw a punch that ripped the Paladin's arm off. The other arm was torn off soon after, but then the blonde brawler was kicked away when Torchwick realized the legs were his only remaining defense.

...

So, that was her semblance. She absorbed damage done to her body and sent it back... Interesting.

"He's a dead man." Adam muttered, giving a small smirk. It was no secret that he hated Torchwick, especially since he had been forced to cooperate with the human by that blackmailing witch Cinder Fall. But wait, that black-haired girl... Blake.

Blake fled to Beacon, and she was on a team with a human girl who had a semblance so similar to his own?

And that girl was Yang Xiao-Long, the girl from the bar?

Coincidence after coincidence...

Adam turned around and began pacing, frowning. He was in the Forest of Forever Fall, and now his thoughts were spinning as he continued to watch the video on his scroll. He always wondered what had happened to his partner, and now he knew—he just didn't know how to feel.

...

Blake had Yang grab one end of her ribbon, and the cat-Faunus prepared to swing the flaming girl into the Paladin, but Torchwick kept moving. The silver-eyed leader and another girl, a Schnee, froze the robot in place and Yang finally made contact, shattering the Paladin with a single punch. Torchwick stood up from the debris, and Yang fired some blasts at him, but not before someone leapt in the way.

"Neo." Torchwick smirked as his assistant lifted her umbrella. "If you would..." Yang charged, but Neo raised her umbrella, the two criminals shattering as Yang made contact and reappearing on a Bullhead, which flew away and ended the encounter.

...

Adam blinked a few times, surprised. Yang's skills were rash, but still impressive all the same. And now, Adam knew that she was associated with his traitorous ex-partner and the damn Schnee Heiress. Though, that probably wasn't her fault...

... Why was Adam rationalizing this?!

The blonde brawler was human!

Human!

A human, on a team with Blake, a Schnee, and that silver-eyed girl who seemed so familiar for some reason...

Adam scoffed quietly and next checked Yang's most frequently-visited social-media page, hoping to get some more information about his enemy.

...

Under an image of the flaming, lilac-eyed girl rearing back a punch with a smirk on her face...

"Oh my gods, you really exploded."

"I HOPE YOU'RE HUNGRY!"

"Well... That was a thing."

"I like to start my semesters off with a YANG!"

"Trap card! Your armies have been destroyed!"

"I love it when you're feisty!"

"We have a plan. That's moderately serious."

"Guess who's back?!"

...

Adam rolled his eyes, smirking slightly. This was definitely Yang...

"... Gah!" Adam threw the scroll away from him, his eyes widening behind his mask. "What?!"

'Bad Adam! No associating with the enemy—the dangerous, human, Huntress enemy!' He scolded himself, then he put his face in his hands. 'I'm going to have to hunt this girl down and teach her not to trifle with the White Fang... Brilliant.'

/\/\/\/\

Adam had some operatives keep an eye on the airships from Beacon to Vale. If Yang Xiao-Long came out in the open, he would know when and where she was heading. It was a few days before he was alerted. The blonde brawler was in Vale, and she was alone.

Adam had gone ahead and ordered one of his men to place a tracking-device on her motorcycle—which was being held in a lot reserved for the vehicles of Beacon students—, and he watched a yellow dot move around a map of Vale on his scroll. It stoppped once for a few minutes, then it moved around again before it stopped short in the middle of the city.

"Wait..." Adam frowned, raising an eyebrow. Why was her yellow dot so close to his red dot? It was almost as if Yang was on the same rooftop as he was, like she was right behind him...

"Hey!"

"AH!" Adam shouted, nearly dropping his scroll. "What?!" The bull-Faunus spun around to see Yang Xiao-Long, who was in the process of laughing and placing her hands on her hips. "What?! How did you-?!"

"Found this." Yang held up the tracking-device, which had the White Fang symbol etched into it. "Not very discrete, are you?"

'... Damn it, Perry! You had one job, just make a tracking-device that would be hard to find! Why must you be so artistic?!'

"Uh..."

"So, why are you trying to find me?" Yang asked, smirking. "Did you lose my number?" Adam was completely frozen. "Speechless?"

"... Yang, I-"

"Look, is this about that robot?" Yang continued, crossing her arms. Adam blinked, then he crossed his arms as well.

"How did you find me?"

"Answer my question first." Yang uncrossed her arms and activated her gauntlets, her eyes narrowing. "Or I'll stop treating you like a drinking buddy and start treating you like my enemy. I don't wanna do that, but you're kinda limiting my options."

"... Fine." Adam rolled his eyes behind his mask. The last thing he needed was for the girl to cause a disturbance. "Yes, it's about the Paladin."

"Okay, then." Yang placed a hand on her hip. "A deal's a deal... Your location. After I found that tracker while I was fixing up my bike, I drove around Vale until I saw the abandoned building with the HUGE White Fang symbol painted on the side and figured 'huh, that looks suspicious'."

'Damn it, Perry!'

"... Listen here, human." Adam drew Wilt, his hidden eyes narrowing. Yang remained perfectly calm. "I will not allow you to get away with destroying White Fang property."

"Property?" Yang asked, irked. "It was stolen by Roman Torchwick, the moron in the dumb hat and eyeliner." Adam almost snorted at that. "It wasn't yours, and you know it."

"That Paladin was needed for-!"

"The revolution?"

"Yes!"

"... Adam, that thing nearly killed my teammates. My little sister." Yang protested, and Adam scoffed. "Don't give me any of that, okay? You're protecting your people, and I'm protecting my friends. What would you have done, in my position?"

Adam didn't want to, but he suddenly remembered so many things—being Ghira Belladonna's bodyguard as he travelled, protecting Sienna Khan when she still took missions, defending Blake as they fought against impossible odds.

"... I would have destroyed that mech." Adam was still angry, but he found himself sheathing Wilt and lowering his guard. "Without hesitation." Yang blinked, surprised, then she smiled brightly as she collapsed her gauntlets.

"Knew it."

"Knew what?"

"You're not as much of a jackass as you're trying to be."

"Oh, shut up!" Adam rolled his eyes, then he blinked as he found Yang's hand wrapped around his wrist. "Wait, what are you doing?!"

"Come on, Mr. Personality." Yang smiled deviously as she pulled on him. "We're going to do something fun. I'm bored, and you're WAY too stiff!"

"Hell, no!"

"It's either this—this being me finally getting that date I wanted you to call and arrange—, or I knock you out and call the cops out of pure spite. Your choice." Yang told him in a WAY too cheery tone. Adam scoffed at that.

"There's always Option C where I dismember you and leave you to bleed out on this roof."

"Aw, don't be like that." Yang teased him. "If you really wanted to hurt me, you would have done it by now." Adam's nose wrinkled. "And Adam, for real: you were tracking me. You're obviously bored out of your mind, if you took hunting me down into your own hands." Adam blinked, surprised, and Yang grinned as she must have seen his face fall. "Knew it."

"I hate you."

"Yeah, but things change." Yang said, then she drew a black ribbon and held it out. For a moment, Adam was reminded of Blake by the strip of black fabric, but he pushed the memories aside. "I grabbed this from a shop as soon as I realized I was gonna run into you. We can't have you looking like a fugitive, and I hate spoilers."

"Spoilers?"

"I need more time to try and guess what color your eyes are." Yang explained, and Adam blinked. "So far, I'm thinking red or maybe green. Brown or gold could be cool... Anyway-" Yang used her left hand to shield her eyes as she held the ribbon out in her right. Adam gazed at her for a moment, then he sighed and grabbed the ribbon.

"Only because I have nothing better to do." He told her, removing his mask. He tied the ribbon around his eyes, making sure that he could see through it, then he put his mask away. "... You can look, now."

"Alright!" Yang lowered her hands and pumped her fist. "Hope you're not prone to motion-sickness!"

"Why?!"

"We're traveling via Bmblb."

"Wait, what?!"

... It turned out, Yang had nicknamed her motorcycle Bmblb.

/\

Yang laughed as she took another sharp turn on Bmblb, Adam letting out a shout of surprise and holding onto her for dear life as she navigated the streets of Vale.

What was she thinking? Why would Yang Xiao-Long drag what an enemy out on a date?

Her rationale was simple.

...

One:

It was a chance for Yang to get to know her enemy.

Two:

Yang knew that Team RWBY could always use more allies, and Adam must have been pretty influential to have been able to organize a search for her. If Yang managed to sway him, she could possibly take down the White Fang and Roman Torchwick—AND make a new friend!

Three:

It was a hilarious situation that Yang and Adam had gotten themselves into. A few months previous, when they had met, Yang had just graduated from Signal and Adam was just someone she had met on the shady-side of Vale. Now, Yang's team and his forces were constantly at each other's throats, and here Yang was, taking Adam out on a "date".

...

Yang couldn't think of one reason why she shouldn't make the most of this opportunity.

Now, as Yang was doing all of the stuff that one shouldn't do a motorcycle with someone completely new to the vehicle riding behind her, the Blonde Brawler had time to think. What should one do for a fun outing with an enemy? Yang considered the possibilities.

She could take him someplace remote where they could spar, but Adam would probably try to kill her. Yang would win, but still: she would probably have to break something, and thay was a no-no.

Though Yang had not known him long, she felt that she had a good grip on Adam's personality, so she considered doing something that the moody bull-Faunus would never be caught dead doing.

A smirk crossed Yang's face as she noticed a flyer hanging in an alleyway as they paused at a light. The flyer was for a motorcycle race, which would be taking place on the shady-side near Junior's place that night. There was an idea, but Yang would need something for she and Adam to do until then.

Six hours.

What to do, what to do...

Yang supposed that she would probably have to take Adam somewhere to eat before the race—it would be her way of making up for putting the poor guy through Hell, so that would take an hour or so off of that time.

Five hours.

What was there to do that could last five hours?

... Oh.

Yang chuckled darkly as she turned a corner and headed for Vale's shopping and recreation district. This would be fun...

When Yang finally pulled Bmblb over, she laughed as Adam practically flew off of the motorcycle and tried not to be sick in the nearest trash-can. The Blonde Brawler's internal spokesperson shouted Introducing Vomit-Boy 2.0!., and Yang grinned deviously as she walked over and clapped her captive on the back.

"Ready?"

"... For what?" Adam managed, looking up at her wearily. Yang took his weapon from him and set it in her motorcycle's sizable storage compartment, then she gestured to the sign on the building.

"If we fight with real weapons, we'll kill each other. And, because you had to endure that ride, I figured that you'd want to have something to rub in my face for the rest of the day... If you can beat me, that is."

"... Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Adam murmured, then he looked at the sign and sighed. "Oh, godsdamnit."

"LASER TAG!" Yang beamed, placing her hands on her hips. "Let the good times roll!" Adam looked at her again.

"Can't you just kill me?"

"What fun would there be in that?!" Yang grabbed Adam's arm and dragged him into the building. "Don't worry, I'll pay!" As if something inside of him had cracked, Adam finally abandoned his façade and pouted like a moody toddler.

"I hate you."

"Yep! But whatcha gonna do about it?!"

"Murder you, probably."

"Yeah, but not today!"

Yang smiled deviously as she wandered around in a room dimly-lit by blacklight. She was wearing a faintly-glowing yellow vest, and she held her gun in both hands. The bandanna on her belt glowed white.

What was Yang thinking?

Why would she bring Adam Taurus to Laser Tag, of all places?

There was a method to her madness.

In this simulated combat-situation, she would get to see how Adam fought without actually getting hurt. Sure, neither of them had their actual weapons, but Yang would see how his mind worked in a combative setting.

Plus, she would have something to taunt him with for the next few hours when she won.

There was only one problem: Adam dressed in all black, save the little bits of white in his emblem. And that emblem was mostly covered by his red vest, which means that he was only going to be made visibly by those odd white flecks and his dimbly-glowing red vest. He had an advantage over her, in the darkness..

Yang heard something shift in the darkness and smirked, aiming her gun as she saw a fleck of white where Adam's emblem was slightly exposed behind a barrel. She half-pulled the trigger, using the red-pointer to ensure that she would shoot straight and hit his vest.

Suddenly, Adam spun around and fired from behind the barrel, hitting Yang's vest. The blonde girl's gun was disabled for five seconds, and Adam chuckled darkly before vanishing into the darkness.

"You jerk!" Yang stamped her foot, then she gritted her teeth and started searching again. She finally saw the bull-Faunus again, searching in the dark. He did not see her. "... GOTCHA!" Yang fired and hit his back, disabling his vest. Adam turned around and growled lowly, and Yang thought he was actually going to lash out, then he simply snorted in annoyance.

"... Run."

"Don't have to tell me, twice!" Yang turned and ran into the darkness. She ducked behind a pillar, hearing him thundering after her, then she spun out of hiding and fired, hitting him in the chest.

"Why, you-!"

"All's fair in space and war!" Yang shouted, gesturing to the space-theme of the small arena and grinning. She had rented it out for just the two of them for as long as they wanted by using her feminine wiles on the owner of the establishment, much to Adam's embarrassment. They were in line in front of a ten year-old's birthday party.

"Grr..." Adam raised his gun, and Yang realized that she was cornered. "One... Two... Three... Four..." His vest turned back on, his gun activating. "Five." Adam fired, smiling deviously as Yang's vest let out a sad musical chime before vanishing into the darkness once more.

"Seriously?!" Yang sensed her eyes briefly flash red, then she laughed and charged after him. "I'm gonna getcha!"

"No, you won't!"

So much for the race idea.

Yang and Adam played Laser Tag for six and a half hours. Adam honestly had not expected to get into the game at all, and he could tell that Yang was just as surprised. Adam had actually... Enjoyed himself.

"Damn, were we competitive or what?" Yang commented, smiling up at Adam. She and Adam were watching, sweaty and exhausted, as the guy behind the desk printed out their results.

"Who had vest number thirty-three?" The man asked, raising an eyebrow. Yang raised her right hand, grinning.

"Me!" She chirped, her energy seemingly returning. The man handed her a slip of paper, then he looked at Adam.

"That makes you sixty-six, big guy." The man handed Adam his paper. "Have a good day."

"Thanks!" Yang waved as she and Adam turned away, then she shrugged. "Pizza?"

"What?" Adam raised an eyebrow behind his ribbon. Yang grinned, placing her hands on her hips.

"My treat."

"... It's late." Adam told her, and her face fell. "I'm expected." Yang was silent for a moment, then she nodded.

"Alright."

Adam and Yang walked out of Laser Tag, and Yang looked down at her paper as they approached Bmblb.

"Let's see... Fired five-thousand six-hundred and thirty-seven shots, fifty-three percent accuracy, and-" She suddenly noticed that Adam was gone from her side and sighed, shaking her head as she noticed that the storage compartment for her motorcycle was open. "Alright, then... No time for a goodbye, I guess..." Yang looked around, frowning. "That's okay... No one in my life ever seems to have time for them. I won't hold it against you."

Yang suddenly noticed something on her motorcycle's seat, a folded slip of paper. She picked it up, surprised, and she blinked as she saw writing on it.

I win.

The message was followed by a drawing of a smirking face.

Yang slowly smiled, and she opened the paper to see Adam's score: five-thousand seven-hundred and sixty-four shots, fifty-seven percent accuracy... Then, she smirked as she pulled out her scroll, taking note of a little red light blinking on a map of Vale.

Adam Taurus was not the only person who was good at finding ways to track people down.

She had placed her own, small, almost-undetectable tracker on the back collar of his jacket, back when she had pat him on the back while he tried not to vomit into the trash-can. The tracker had been meant for someone else—Raven, Qrow, or maybe Ruby or Blake—but Yang knew that she had put it to good use.

The day wasn't a loss, after all.

It was only the beginning.

Adam Taurus stood on the rooftop of a building across from Laser Tag, his mask back on his face. He had stolen it and his weapon back from Yang just before he had departed.

Adam raised Blush and took aim, his gun aimed directly at the unsuspecting Blonde-Brawler's head. His finger was on the trigger, and he was one move away from completing his mission—from sending a message strong enough to to dissuade the humans from meddling in the White Fang's affairs...

Adam slowly gritted his teeth and let out a low growl, lowering the gun. He did not know why, but something inside of him argued that the human girl shouldn't die. Yet.

Adam sheathed Wilt in Blush and placed his weapons at his side, then he drew something from his pocket and looked at it—the black ribbon Yang had given him in order to let him conceal both face and affiliation. It was considerate, he would give her that...

The bull-Faunus let out a small snort as he turned away from the street where Yang Xiao-Long still lingered, walking away and vanishing into the night.

Character development, what a blast!

Now, looking at the end of Volume 6, I have seen what some may refer to as a bit of a "speed-bump". Worry not, for I have a plan!

So... Yeah...

I just described Blake and Yang killing Adam as a "speed-bump". That's officially something I've done, and put out into the universe.

... Finals, guys. Freakin' finals.

I own nothing. Please read, review, check out my other stories, etc. Thanks! :)
