YO! What's up guys, Crazy7634 here with a NEW STORY! Yeah, this idea has been stuck in my mind for a while, with me playing Undertale and foolishly starting off with the pacifist run… yeah, suffice to say, I no longer have the heart to try the other routes now. Well, anyway, if you've noticed my lack of updates, then that would be because my mind was getting over-worked with trying to come up with content as it switched from two stories to two stories. And with my imagination being all used up, I took a break so that I wouldn't lose my inspiration for all of my stories entirely. Updates for the others are coming, but until I can get my mind back focusing on those stories, I'm going to work on this one. Enjoy guys!

Disclaimer: I do not own anything, especially Naruto and Undertale.

Chapter 1 – Fallen

Darkness filled the sky, as the blackness was occasionally dotted with clumps of multiple, bright stars. Birds snoozed atop the thick branches of the sturdy trees, a light gust of wind rustled the lime-coloured leaves as the some-what soothing chittering of night critters filled the air. The moon shone as it gazed down at the lush, green forest, its light giving some of the slumbering wildlife a sense of security. Everything seemed so peaceful and serene… but if one were to stare at the forest from a high angle, they would see that not everything in the forest was enjoying the calm night, for there was a small yellow speck running desperately through the thick foliage.

'Just keep running… just keep running…' A small child, whose age was no older than five, sprinted through the woods, repeating the same three words in his head like a mantra. He hissed as stray branches and spiked plants cut his legs, but he gritted his teeth and forced himself to put the feeling of the stinging pain to the back of his mind. '…It's too late to turn back, anyway. No other choice but to keep moving forward.'

The young boy's appearance showed that he was more than a little worse for wear. His spiky golden locks were coated in splotches of mud, his unnaturally skinny stature showed that he was malnourished, and his clothes looked like nothing but mere rags due to the amount of tears they currently had. Dead leaves crunched and small twigs snapped under his sandaled feet as they pounded against the forest floor. Dark bags were under his now dull, cerulean eyes, indicating just how tired the boy was. His mind was telling him to stop, to take a break. But he refused. He shook the sleepiness out of his head and focused on his intended destination. Mount Ebott.

'Nearly there…' Only less than a kilometre more and he was there. It had taken him many stressful days, pushing through hunger and thirst as well as evading multiple predators, in order to get this close to the enormous mountain. In his eyes, it was worth it. Sure, every time he had heard about this particular location, the stuff he heard were always bad. Adults would always talk about how children always disappear whenever they venture up or around the area, how those same missing children were never seen again, and how they were now all written off as dead. He never really paid much attention to what they said, shrugging it off as just another story that the grown-ups always used to get kids his age to listen. That was true, but then again, so were the stories. Now normally, after hearing all that, people would want to stay away from this supposedly cursed place, but…

"You're not welcome here, demon!"

"You dare walk into MY store, murderer?!"

"We'd all be better off if you were gone, you MONSTER!"

…disappearing forever seemed like such an enticing fate to him at the moment. The boy hung his head, a sniffle was heard as tears made their way down his face. Everyone back at his old village never did care for him, and his parents have been gone since the day he was born. He had no one. No dreams… no purpose… and no reason to live whatsoever. He raised an arm up and wiped the tears off, not really caring that he had smudged the dirt on his face. He raised his head up and stared at the towering mountain, his pace slowing before he came to a stop. He had arrived.

'C'mon Naruto, no turning back now…'

He took a deep breath and began his climb up the steep ridge. A long while later, he grunted as he pulled himself up onto a ledge, panting as he laid flat against the rocky ground. Once he regained his breath, he looked down the edge and blinked. He was a lot higher up than he thought. How long had he been climbing? He turned his gaze up to the sky, and noticed that the first rays of dawn were beginning to appear. Hours, apparently. With a great amount of effort, he pushed himself up to his feet, hissing when the cuts on his legs reminded him that they were there. He inspected his surroundings as he prepared himself to continue climbing when he saw the cave behind him. A chill climbed up his spine at the sight of the ominous-looking opening, but despite his growing fear of the cavern, he soon became curious as he felt himself being drawn towards the darkness. Cautiously, he bent his knees as he made his way through what seemed to be a tunnel, readying himself to bolt out of the cave at the smallest hint of danger. His form tensed as a foreboding feeling appeared in his heart, flinching when he realized that the sun's light became scarcer and scarcer the more he walked. After a few minutes of walking, he blinked in wonder when his eyes caught sight of what seemed to be a bunch of golden flowers at the end of the shaft, a ray of sunlight from a crack in the wall making them look as if they were shining.

'What the heck?'

He tilted his head to the side in slight confusion and stood up straight, scratching his head as he tried to think of an explanation for the odd sight. His caution was gone, and he briskly jogged over to the flowers. When he got close enough, he was about to grab one of the strange flowers, only for him to fall through a pit just before he could reach any of them. His eyes widened in horror when he saw the ground below beginning to come closer. The child clenched his eyes shut as he waited for pain to fill his being. He tensed when he felt something warm encase him and tentatively slid his eyelids apart. He was shocked to see that red energy had shrouded him and was slowly bringing him down into… another bunch of golden flowers?

'This is… weird.'

Once his body fell gently into the cluster of flora, the energy dispersed itself into the air, disappearing into mist. What the heck was that? He scanned the area, staring at the cracked walls and occasional broken pillar. Where was he now? He tilted his head down to push himself off of the floor, and was shocked to see that the cuts on his legs were no longer there. What is going on?! He sighed and shook his head, fighting his fatigue in order to stand. It seemed that although his injuries were healed, whatever did that didn't help his lethargy at all. He dusted what he could off of his worn shorts and shook off some leaves and sticks that were stuck in his hair.

"Howdy!" The young boy jumped three feet into the air in his astonishment. He looked around, searching for the source of the voice. "Hey, down here!"

He looked down and was amazed to see a TALKING flower. He knelt and leaned closer to the odd phenomenon, bewildered at the fact that such a creature existed.

'That is certainly not normal. I've never heard of something like this from the grown-ups back at Leaf.'

"What's with that look? Never seen a talking flower before- oh wait…" The flower chuckled sheepishly as it remembered something. "You're from the surface. Of course you haven't."

The surface? There was another place other than up there? Huh… well, the more you know. He raised an eyebrow at the small anomaly, an odd smile growing on its face.

"Well, since this is the first time you've ever been here, I guess it'll have to be my job to teach you how the world down here works. My name is Flowey, by the way. Flower the flowey- wait no! Dang it, I messed it up!" The confused child sweatdropped, watching the flower smack its head against the floor as a facepalm before sighing agitatedly. "What I meant to say was that my name is Flowey the flower. Now anyway, you see these things?"

The boy nodded slowly when five white pellets appeared above Flowey's head in a single-file line. The sense of foreboding he had felt earlier returned as he stared at the spinning objects.

"Well, down here, what you need to aim for is to get as much LV as you can. If you're wondering what LV is, it's a shorter term for LOVE. The more LOVE you gain, the stronger and tougher you will be. You want some LOVE, don't you?" The blonde's heart ached at every mention of the word. Kami knows that it's the one thing he's been yearning for ever since infancy. Flowey's smile grew even more. "Of course you do, who doesn't, right? Anyway, here, LOVE is gained through little… "Friendliness Pellets". Those are these things here. Now, when I send them to you, catch as many as you can, alright?"

"Do not trust him… I sense evil in his intentions."

The cerulean-eyed child flinched at the voice that reverberated in his head. He stood up, discretely taking five small stones from the floor as he did, and took a few steps back. As the pellets made their way towards him, he threw a rock at each pellet and frowned when he saw that they had exploded viciously into dust. Unfortunately, one rock had missed, causing the speeding pellet to be able to hit him straight on the chest. He winced at the pain and fell to his knees, an arm around his stomach. His eyes went to Flowey and was not surprised when he saw that his gentle smile was now a sinister grin.

"So, you know what's really going on, huh? I guess you're not that dumb for a kid after all." He let out a dark chuckle. "In this world, it's kill or BE killed. Why would anyone pass up an opportunity such as this?"

Flashes appeared all around him as Flowey created more of his supposed "Friendliness Pellets" around him. He was stuck. There was no opening to escape through and no way for him to dodge. This was it. He let a breath escape his mouth and he sat down, defeated. Well, this was what he wanted in the first place, wasn't it? Death. At least someone gets something out of it. Flowey was frozen. He didn't expect the kid to do this.

"Is that it? You're just going to give up?! A-Aren't you going to try to escape?" The child shook his head negatively, his eyes closed as he accepted his fate. "A… Are you sure?"

He nodded silently. The flower frowned and was about to order his pellets to move, only for him and his attacks to be blown away by a group of fireballs. He heard the flower's yells and clenched his eyelids shut with even more force. The boy pulled his knees up to his chin, bracing himself as the sound of footsteps reached his ears, the sound slowly coming closer and closer towards him. He let out a haggard breath when he felt the unknown figure stop in front of him and waited to be struck. But what he didn't expect however, was for them to kneel down and make a fluffy, hair-covered hand run itself across his cheek, gently wiping the light coating of dirt he had sustained off. He tensed, and was surprised for a second time when he heard a soft and, dare he say, motherly voice speak to him.

"Hmph, what a terrible creature. Torturing such a poor, innocent youth…" She pulled her hand away and placed it on the yellow-haired male's head, smiling sadly when he only buried his face deeper into his knees. No doubt he was scared after that encounter with the flower. "Do not be afraid, my child. I am Toriel, the caretaker of these ruins. I pass through here every day, to see if anyone has fallen down… and seeing you right now, I am happy that I chose to do so."

After she gained no reaction from the child, she simply waited patiently for them to make a move. A minute passed, and the boy lifted his head up carefully, eyeing her warily. Toriel was an anthropomorphic goat with pure, snow-white fur. She had short horns, long droopy ears, and wore a purple robe which had an odd symbol stitched to the front. His eyes then slid upwards, his azure irises bore into her red-tinted ones. The female was astonished at the sight of his dull, hopeless eyes, her maternal instincts making her heart ache when she saw the sadness he held deep inside of him.

"You know, if you want to kill me like how that weird flower from earlier wanted, you can just do it right now. I don't really care…" He rasped out, his throat hoarse due to it not having been used in days. Toriel was even more stunned. She didn't know how to respond. The boy stared at her as she stayed silent, but before long, he sighed and stared at his feet. At his sigh, the queen shook her head clear of bewilderment and stared down at the human.

"What's with that sort of talk? I do not wish to hear such somber words from one as young as you, is that clear?" She said, her voice carrying that stern tone all mothers used when berating their children. The human child was caught off-guard, which was clearly shown when his head snapped upwards to face Toriel, his eyes wide and dazed as he blinked in slight confusion. Seeing his reaction, she took a deep breath before speaking again, her voice going back to its usual gentleness. "Now, as I said earlier, my name is Toriel. Since I have introduced myself, it is only polite that you introduce yourself as well in return."

"M-My name is Naruto… just Naruto." He stammered out. The female raised an eyebrow.

"Just Naruto, you say? But don't humans usually have another name after their first one?" She asked, instantly regretting it when she noticed his downtrodden expression.

"Y-Yeah… but those are for the kids with parents, or, at least, those who know about their parents." Naruto muttered lowly, his hands fiddling with one of the flowers around him. The goat woman gave him a mournful look and ran a hand through his surprisingly soft hair apologetically.

"Oh… I'm sorry for bringing up such horrible news, then." She said, a small smile appearing on her face when he leaned into her touch.

"It's fine. I mean, I've gone through this long without them, so I don't really think about them much anymore." They both knew that was a lie, it was evident in the pain lacing every word that he had said, but Toriel let it slide. They stayed there in comfortable silence for a few more minutes, the woman still running a hand through his hair soothingly, before he tilted his head up and spoke again. "…Why did you save me?"

Toriel blinked confusedly at the question. "Huh?"

Naruto stared at his knees, twiddling his thumbs. "Why did you save me from that thing earlier?"

"Now why would you ask such a silly question? I saw someone in trouble, and immediately came to help. Wouldn't you do the same?"

The child kept his gaze on his fingers, not daring to look her in the eye as he replied. "Yeah, of course. But… no one's ever really cared about me to do something like that before."

Toriel narrowed her eyes, maternal anger burning inside her. What did those foolish humans do now? To their own kind no less! "Well, I guess I'm just different from those other people then. Probably in more ways than one, considering how different my appearance is to yours. Besides… who wouldn't want to save such an adorable child as yourself?"

As she said her final line, Toriel noticed the whisker-like lines on the cheek she had cleaned dirt off of earlier and curiously gave them a rub, making Naruto do something that he hadn't done in a long while… he giggled.

"Hey, stop it! That tickles!" She grinned widely at the boy's joyful look, the grin growing even wider when she noticed the life returning back into his eyes. "H-Hey, please! Stop!"

She herself chuckled before stopping her ministrations, looking down at the still slightly-laughing boy. "See? You just proved the point I made on how adorable you are."

"Hmph!" Naruto pouted childishly at her teasing tone and turned away. He was about to cross his arms over his chest when he felt a jolt of pain come from that area before it traveled through his body. Toriel saw his pained reaction and quickly checked on his chest. She gritted her teeth at the sight of his irreparable shirt soaking up the blood from the visible bleeding gash on his torso. Carefully, she lifted the injured child into her arms and slowly made her way back to her home. Naruto's closed eyes snapped open when he felt himself being moved and turned questioningly to Toriel. "What's going on?"

Toriel looked down and gave him a smile. "I'm taking you back to my home, so that I can patch you up. It seems that that small creature did a number on you."

"Oh…" Naruto became silent. His face had been scrunched up in a thoughtful expression when something from the corner of his eye caught his attention. His head then twisted around interestedly as he scanned the broken-down surroundings in awe. She beamed at his childish curiosity, pausing him mid-investigation to ask a question that had appeared in her head.

"Naruto?"

The sapphire-eyed child turned back to Toriel. "Huh?"

"Y… You said that you didn't have parents, and judging by you being this far away from any human settlement, I'm going to guess that you don't have any guardians looking after you either?" The young lad looked down and shook his head sadly. Toriel looked up at the ceiling. "Well… I was thinking…"

"About what?"

"How would you…" She looked down and smiled at him. "How would you like it if I took you in and made you my son?"

Naruto's eyes gained a hopeful tint. "Y-You'd really do that for me?"

"Of course I would."

Tears fell down his eyes and trailed down his cheeks. He buried his head into her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her as much as he could. "Th-Thank you! Thank you so much!"

The woman smiled and let him be. Soon enough, his cries began to slow down into mere sniffles before they disappeared entirely. A few minutes later, she heard a muffled yawn and saw him nuzzle against her shoulder as he tried to stay awake despite his eyelids becoming very heavy. "Go to sleep, my child. Sleep is important for one in your current state."

"O-Okay…" Naruto yawned again before resting his head back on her shoulder. "Goodnight… Mom…"

Toriel gasped and looked down at the sleeping human, smiling at the happy grin on his face. Seeing the large difference between now and his earlier melancholic expression made a rush of joy fill her being. "Sweet dreams, my son…"
