New story! I feel like I always need to have VA up my sleeve. Btw I don't own anything that of Richelle Mead. I just put my twist to her original idea. I will never remember to write that disclaimer again so this is meant for the whole story.

Chapter 1: Letters

RPOV

"Ok class, settle down. I'm sure you are all excited for the beginning of your senior year, I know I'm excited to see you all go…. Just kidding." Ms. Petrov said which made the class laugh.

I was excited, I really was. I turn 18 towards the end of the year and I was excited for my freedom. Highschool was finally coming to an end!

"Ok, so I have a project for you, yes I know, it's the first day of school, but this is actually going to be fun." Most of the class groaned in complaint, me including. Ms. Petrov just rolled her eyes. "Well, we've decided that you would start sending letter, and make new penpals." Another groan. "Oh, c'mon! Stop being so nasty. The person you're writing with is from Russia! As small little town in Siberia called Baia. What I'm hoping is that this will not only improve your own writing, but their English, too! So today we will write our first letter!"

Everyone took out a piece of paper and a pencil after she told us to do so.

"Why don't we just do email?" Someone suggested.

"Because! This is helping your writing skills. Not your typing." that made a few of the students laugh, too.

"What do we even write about? Who is it addressed to?"

"For right now you don't know who exactly your penpal is, so address them as penpal. Also, it's an introduction of yourself! Tell them about the US, ask them question. Be creative!" Que another groan.

I didn't really know what to write so I sat there and stared at the paper.

Dear Penpal,

I'm Rose. I'm not really sure if I should mention my last name or not. I'm 17 in highschool, but I turn 18 in a few months. I'm pretty excited to turn 18. My teacher, Mrs. Petrov, said that you were in Russia. That's pretty cool. I don't know any Russsian.

I'm a senior and today is actually my first day of school. I'm working on college applications which is really stressful. I'm not really sure what to write my personal essay on. What's the college system over there? Well, I can't really think of anything else to write about, so have a nice day, or night, or whatever.

Sincerely,

Rose

One by one students started to hand their letters are in. I folded mine so it would fit into an envelope. I went to the front of the class to set it into the pile with everyone else's. The teacher smiled at me and I smiled back. I had Mrs. Petrov before, when I was a freshman, and she's one of my favorite teachers. This was actually a nice way to start the year. I knew my other classes wouldn't be so nice.

"What did you write?" Mason asked me once I sat back down.

I shrugged. "Just said 'hi' and how high school is stressful."

Mason rolled his eyes. "I hope I get some hot russian chic."

"You won't even know what they look like!"

"I'll know by the way they write."

"Yes, because nothing says sexy russian chic like their perfect handwriting." I said a punched his arm. He grumbled and rubbed his arm as if I had seriously hurt him.

I called out to my other friend, Eddie, asking him what he wrote. Mrs. Petrov gave me a look which made me repeat myself but I whisper-yelled instead. She just laughed and rolled her eyes. That made most of the rest of the class laugh as well.

"I asked them if they could teach me some cuss words in russian."

"Wow, of course."

Once everyone turned in their letters Mrs. Petrov said, "Ok, everyone, I will mail these out tonight and we should get a reply in about 2 weeks. Now we are going to the library to check out our textbooks."

We all grabbed our phones and ID cards and exited the classroom to head to the library. I wonder who my penpal will be.

I know it's short, but I hope you like it.
