There was a knock at the door. If it wasn't for Tanaka who was on a nightly inspection of the house, no one would have heard the knock. 'Who would be coming here at this hour?' Tanaka thought to himself as he opened the door only to see an eight years old boy with dark hair and strange green-blue eyes. The boy was shivering out in the cold winter air and only had a thin coat on to protect against the cold. In the boy's hands is a small charm of a strange symbol. The symbol were 2 dragons circling each other in a circle. One dragon has ruby eyes while the other had sapphire eyes. Timidly, the boy gazed up towards Tanaka and asked, "May I come in?" Shock, Tanaka led the boy to the dining area and told the boy to wait there for him.

Tanaka went up the master bedroom to see his master, Earl Vincent Phantomhive, and his mistress, Lady Rachel Phantomhive, slowly waking up. "Tanaka? Why are you up so early?" Vincent asked the butler who bowed towards them as they struggle to get up from their comfortable sleeping position. "There seems to be a lost boy outside in the harsh winter air. He is about seven or eight and has dark hair with eerie blueish green eyes."

"Oh dear," Rachel whispered and she hurried up towards the door. Vincent followed his wife's example and the three of them went down into the dining room to talk to the boy.

As the trio entered the room, the boy slowly turned towards them and stared at them with curious eyes. Rachel approached him first and kneeled down to look at the boy eye to eye. "Who are you? Why are you here? Where are your parents?" she questioned the little boy. The boy's eyes teared up a bit and he carefully wiped them away. Slowly he looked at Rachel then at Vincent who was sitting down at the front of the table where he usually sat at.

"My name is Hadrian. My parents and I were on our way home before our carriage was attacked by a bunch of thieves. The thieves killed both of my parents and burned the carriage. They were about to kill me too, but the horses stampeded and I ran away. I ran until I reached this place and here I am."

"Oh, you poor dear. How dreadful!" Rachel pondered for a bit and got an idea. "Why don't you stay with us? You can leave if you want, but we would take care of you until you are old enough to run a business by yourself."

Hadrian's eyes gleam and he nodded his head quickly to accept the offer. Smiling, Rachel led the young boy to get himself cleaned up while Tanaka went to find some of Ciel's spare night clothes. Sighing to himself, Vincent went back to his bedroom and rubbed his eyes with his fingers. Wondering to himself of what would happen when Ciel find out that he has a twin "brother" living with them now.
