It had started somehow some time ago.
He'd fallen in love with someone like him who hovered on the borderline of what they could be for only so long.
He'd known of how difficult this could be.
He had seen the red eyes of his lover whenever the sadness within nearly tipped out.
He'd miss this, and all of their everything.
Romano knew that this could not last well as they both had no definite knowledge of how long they'd last, but they both would try to cherish these few moments together.
On the worst of nights however, they had to cling to each other and some resemblance of comfort just to get by with the sting of regret and future regret.
Time could only last so long, and they'd miss it whenever it passed much too quickly.
So they clung with no ability to fight that urge, just to be near one who understood what that impending doom felt like, what the sacrifice would entail, and how much they longed to cherish this.
Prussia kept a chart of sorts detailing how long he felt that he'd live while Romano mentally counted every once in a while of how long he'd lived.
They estimated together at times and often enough with that.
Still, time could never be calculated down to the last moment, and so with the passing of it and of the shared time that they'd miss and regret pain, one would vanish.
The remnants of a once proud spirit moved along as if unattached to the world after all while the other clung to what was soon to not be in his arms.
Romano clung to the last image of Prussia on this world, the last image of Prussia that would remain only for them to know.
He'd known loss before now, but nothing compared to these silent, lonely moments that marked the strong emotional intimacy of the two of them.
The Italian would always remember the pained yet ready eyes of the Prussian before him yet he'd also always remember the cool feeling of losing a grip on a body turned to just a soul of the man before him.
He'd only know of their past together to remember the other by, and that depressing hope that he'd be there soon to spend time to the end of days and beyond with the other man.
Romano watched with tear filled eyes as his lover of so many years vanished from sight for good, leaving him with the duty to tell others of his passing in the way that only nations could pass from this earth.
Lovino though under their knowing yet disbelieving eyes would eagerly await his own passing when his younger brother would be permitted to rule Italy in his place.
Naturally, his passing would occur beside his brother in their much too big house though while it occurred in nearly a too slow, relaxed manner, it occurred quickly as well.
Feli's eyes like his brother's had been so long ago in that stolen moment of a too well understood intimacy would be shattered as he watched his brother and best friend go from the world that they'd always called home.
