Shortaki Week
Prompt One: Growing Pains
"Is this everything on the list?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Because that's what you said the first time you texted me."
"I know."
"And since then you've texted me two more times, and each time, you added something to your list."
"Yeah…"
"So, I'll ask you again, do you need anything else?"
"…"
"…are you there?"
"…yes..."
"…and…"
"Last time you got me Teriyaki Turkey Jerky by accident, and, I love you…so, so much, but I hated it. I hated it. I really did. So can I have a pint of the Salted Caramel Gelato, two boxes of Mr. Fudgie Nuggets and Bacon Jerky?"
"Bacon Jerky?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yeah. I'll be home in fifteen."
"You're the greatest."
"It's nothing."
"No, really, you're amazing."
"It's okay. I mean it. Once you've bought your grandfather's laxatives after his third slice of raspberry cobbler, nothing is embarrassing. Nothing."
"You're awesome. Hurry up and get home. I tried putting together the toaster my dad got us, to make pizza rolls and-"
"You're insatiable."
"I'm starving. I mean it; hurry home, new Mr. Shortman."
"I've always been Shortman. You're the new one."
"Ugh. Less mushy talk, more snack fetching."
"Love you too."
A/N: Shortaki Week, y'all. I've never done one of these before, so of course, I'm showing up late to the party. And I might leave the party late, too. Because, that's how I like to party.
This is my 200 word drabble take on 'Growing Pains'. Hope it makes some sort of sense.
Let me know what you think!
