Once Mentor and Mentee

They started off as mentor and mentee. Just the two of them because Mimi was so far away, and maybe that was the difference the other Chosen didn't have. Because Takeru and Hikari were already veterans, and Daisuke and Iori had two mentors apiece and flittered between them, but for Miyako there was only Sora, and that meant she spent twice the time with her than the others did with their own mentors. Or maybe the times weren't split entirely in half, since Takeru and Hikari would spend time with their brothers too…

But it didn't really matter. They started off as mentor and mentee, spent a lot of time together and then drifted into other territories. Equals when Miyako had gained some experience in the digital world and some wisdom as well. Friends when they'd bonded over all sorts of things. Confidants when the date with Michael had turned out to be too weird and she'd brought the flowers back for Sora to have a look out. Girlfriends when they shared an experimental kiss and decided they wanted many more. Lovers when they found that something deeper – and by then, they were far from the mentor and mentee they'd started off as.
